Tour bus antics feat. some silly boys.

Notes:

Quick little one-shot for y'all! I shared this in the Discord server a couple weeks ago, and figured I'd post it here too :) The prompt was 'tour bus antics'.

Also, I've been dealing with a sick pet over the last two weeks (he's doing better now <3) so pls accept this one as a little apology for the final chapter of Men of the Year taking a bit longer than planned.

Title is from Billie Eilish's 'Birds of a Feather'. Hope you like it!

Work Text:

Whether it’s racing Julien towards the bunks to claim the top one on their first day on the bus (“Oh so now you wanna be the top, huh?”), or whether it’s stealing all of Lucy’s sweaters so she can snuggle with them during the nights they don’t have a king-sized hotel bed to share together; there’s something about being on a tour bus with her boys that brings out Phoebe’s inner menace. So when Julien goes to take a shower in the bus’s laughably tiny shower cubicle, a plan quickly forms in her mind.

They had played another great fucking show tonight, and Phoebe would be lying if she said it had been easy to keep her eyes off of Julien ever since. And for a good reason. Who would have ever thought that their boy would go running around on stage with her tits out? Bounding from one side to the other without a single care in the world, before jumping into Phoebe’s arms because this was the space they had created for each other, and with each other.

Now, though, Lucy has already settled herself into the cushions by one of the large windows, current read in hand, just as Julien walks out of their bunk area with a bundle of clothes under her arm, and Phoebe feels the irresistible need to annoy her just a little.

Julien pretends not to notice Phoebe’s heated stare roaming over her, that is, until Phoebe smoothly moves into her space and tips her head down, smirks, and says into Julien’s ear: “Better be a cold shower, hot stuff.”

She punctuates the end of her sentence with a slap to Julien’s ass, for good measure. That pulls a small sound of surprise from Julien’s throat, as she’s left looking up at Phoebe with wide eyes and a distinct blush creeping up her neck.

“What?” Julien says, innocence laced through her voice undercut by the playful tug at her lips, “I was just really feelin’ it, ya know, on stage?”

“Ohh yeah, we could tell,” Lucy pipes up from her place across the bus, looking pointedly at Julien from over the top of her book.

That draws a burst of a laugh out of Phoebe, but she steps aside and lets Julien continue towards the bus’s bathroom. She’ll just have to wait for Julien to get into the shower, and then she can put her plan into motion. Once she hears the water start running, she makes her move.

Phoebe sneaks into the bathroom and quietly moves over to the shelf where Julien has left her clean clothes. Clearly, Julien doesn’t have much use for shirts these days anyways. Or so Phoebe logically reasons, even though her true intention behind grabbing the t-shirt off the shelf and quickly stuffing it in the waistband of her trousers definitely has more to do with the fact that she feels like she simply hasn’t quite seen enough of Julien’s tits today. And who could blame her?

But then Phoebe hears the shower shut off much sooner than she was expecting, and the shower door opens to reveal Julien squinting at her through the crack, suspicion clear on her face.

“What are you doing?” she asks slowly, giving Phoebe an assessing once-over.

“Just— uh, handing you your towel!” Phoebe replies, too quickly and entirely too loud, and she’s pretty sure she’s not hiding the stupidly wide smirk on her face well at all. Julien definitely doesn’t believe a word she’s saying, but she takes the towel from Phoebe outstretched hand anyway.

Phoebe quickly slips back out of the bathroom as Julien goes to dry off and get dressed, giggling to herself when she catches Lucy looking at her and shaking her head in mock disappointment.

“You’re such an idiot, Phoebs,” she laughs, to which Phoebe just shoots her finger-guns as if to say, Yup, that’s me! It only takes a few more minutes of the two of them joking around together before Julien sticks her head around the door. Trying – and failing – to fix Phoebe with a mean look, she says, “Phoebe, where the fuck is my shirt?”

Phoebe lets out another shrieky laugh at that and fishes the missing shirt out of her waistband to hold it up in front of her like a bullfighter attempting to antagonise a bull, wiggling her eyebrows at Julien. What she isn’t expecting, however, is for Julien to instantly take her up on that challenge.

She bursts out of the bathroom, only her bottom half dressed as errant droplets of water are still sticking to the bare skin of her chest, catching the low light of the bus and complementing the mischievous glint in her eyes.

There’s a second when they’re both just staring at each other, all toothy smiles and wild eyes, and then Julien shoots after Phoebe, Lucy yelling after them to “Play nice!” as Julien chases the gleefully cackling blonde down the length of the bus in a fit of giggles.
