Work Text:

The egoist and the little monster stayed at the training field as Bachira begged Isagi to practice a bi-i-it more. Kunigami, on the other hand, couldn’t put up with the idiot trio anymore and headed straight to the bathroom without a word. Chigiri knew he could not miss the opportunity to talk. The boy turned him down too many times for his liking. It only took him a couple of minutes to give in and leave searching for the ginger.

The German stratum wasn’t that much of a difference from the English one, yet Chigiri spent some time before he stumbled upon the right door. Anxiety slowly but surely was filling up his body. Chigiri had no idea how this version of Kunigami would react to his speech. The moment Chigiri worked up his courage and made one step forward, the bathroom door slid open with the musclehead standing there, a towel thrown around his neck and water dripping from freshly washed hair.

“Anything else you need from me, shitty princess?”  Kunigami emotionlessly glared at him, aiming to move Chigiri out of his way but got swiftly cut off.

“Still nothing you would like to tell me, huh? Well, I have something that has to be said one-on-one.” – his words pointlessly hit the stone wall Kunigami erected between himself and the rest of the world. But Chigiri wasn’t the one to give up on him so easily.

“I can’t fathom the things you’ve been through at the Wild Card. I see how much you’ve changed.” – the sickening emptiness was all he saw when Chigiri tried to find the answer in those golden eyes in front of him. They’ve lost the spark just how their owner lost his spirit. – “But you can’t do that to me. Not after everything we’ve been through together, after everything we had between us.” – Chigiri looked up to the ceiling. That can’t be it, can’t be the time and place where he tears up.

“I’ve waited for you for so long.” – after a long pause, his voice still sounded strained.
“I’m not the hero you need.” – looking straight to the redhead’s eyes, his stone wall intact.

“You’re the only hero I want.” – a crack.

“Do you still love me?” – Kunigami only sighed wearily and looked down, wet strands of hair fell covering his face. The silence was almost deafening, Chigiri could hear his own frantic heartbeat.

“Rensuke…” – called by his name, something quite intimate, something Kunigami hasn't heard for a while. Chigiri wanted to reach out to Kunigami’s cheek, but was stopped by the firm hand on his wrist. The crack started to spread along the wall when he had finally weakened the grip and Chigiri carefully caressed the boy's slender cheek with just the tips of his fingers. The wall collapsed to pieces when Kunigami himself leaned towards the gentle hand, closing his eyes. A whole new universe seemed to open up before him, something he had forgotten he could feel and experience was now with him, right by his side.

Enough time has passed before his dry lips felt the warmth of Chigiri’s. At first, he weakly brushed them against his mouth, as if he was asking for permission, but Kunigami deepened the kiss, wrapping his hand around Chigiri’s waist and pulling him back into the bathroom.

The back of Chigiri’s head got covered with a hand while his spine met the cold of the gray bathroom tiles. ‘You’re a good guy after all, Kunigami.’ Taking care of such minor inconveniences as Chigiri’s head hitting the wall. The redhead smiles lovingly into the kiss. His arms are now laying on the broad shoulders. Kunigami was always the bigger guy, but now they nearly doubled in size, which Chigiri considered unusual, but the warmth he felt was unforgettably familiar.

He felt how amazingly gentle Kunigami’s tongue was entering his mouth, examining every inch of it. Kunigami pulled away, grasping the stale air of the bathroom, only to instantly press his lips against Chigiri’s chin. He created a trail of kisses from his neck down to the collarbones, stretching the collar of Blue Lock’s uniform to reach them. Kunigami brings his hand down to Chigiri’s nape as he halts, redhead can only feel his burning hot breath on his sensitive skin.

Ginger studiosly tries to remember this dear fragrance, that he had almost forgotten after what he has been through. For now, Chigiri smelled sweaty for the most part, but after showering he usually had the smell of an average men’s shower gel, but his hair always smelled beautifully because of the cherry blossom flavored shampoo he used. Kunigami knows it due to the frequency of him having to help Chigiri wash his hair after the training, when he wasn’t even capable of raising his hands up out of exhaustion and laziness.

Chigiri started messing with the ginger strands. Kunigami’s hairstyle had changed, his hair grew a lot and it seemed like he didn’t take any care of it. Perhaps the color had faded as well, like in his eyes. But Chigiri can’t look.

For a moment it felt like the old times. For a moment Chigiri believed that in front of him was that look of pure fondness. They both had their eyes closed, as if they both knew that as soon as they’re opened, this moment would disappear, it would end just like how it has started – abruptly. The only thing that was going to be left is the lingering feeling of warmness and tugging in the stomach.

Kunigami’s big hand felt so perfectly on Chigiri’s waist. Like if it would be gone, Chigiri simply wouldn’t be able to stand on his own. But he had to, when Kunigami suddenly distanced himself. Chigiri felt like he stood there for another second, eying him. Clinging to every detail of the precious face, body and person. To mark every strand of loose hair, the lip bitten from the pleasure, his chest going up and down, those elegant and simultaneously toned arms leaning on the wall in search of support. Kunigami won’t have a chance to see Chigiri this way for a long time.

Will he ever?

He wanted to caress his cheek one last time but decided to resist this temptation. Kunigami left the bathroom, abandoning Chigiri. The stone wall could not be demolished permanently. The cynic hero could not be woken up after all.
