Chapter Text
Spring break was coming up soon. It had been a whole year since the X-games and a few months since Max and Bradley had started dating. They had been dating for a little over 6 months at this point.
After the initial bad feelings died down Max and Bradley started talking. They had a lot more in common than they thought. It was strange looking at it. They had hated each other but now they were a thing.
Bradley walked over to Max's room with a suitcase in hand. He was almost nervous. He knocked on the door a few times, waiting for a response. He heard some shuffling before the door opened. It was one of Max's friends.
He had red hair that was cut to a buzz. He wore glasses and a baggy shirt. His name was Bobby if Bradley recalled. The red head lifted his glasses a little and squinted.
“Brad! Max's in the shower.” Bobby exclaimed, opening the door wider. Bradley grimaced.
“It's Bradley.” He scowled while walking in. He saw a messily packed bag on the lower bunk on one of the beds. There were clothes around the room that Bradley watched Bobby start to pack as he sat on Max's bed.
Bradley had been in here many times before. When him and Max started talking, his friends were quick to say to say away. They called him a bad influence and tried to get him to remember the X-games. When he and Max started going out they had to hide it from them. They were starting to like him as a person but not enough to let Max date him.
They had to sneak around there dates and try to avoid them like they were spies. They came around sooner or later which was a relief. It soon became quite common for Bradley to go to Max's room or for Max to stop by the gammas house.
Bradley noticed that Max hadn't packed almost anything. Bradley checked the time on his phone to see the time. He took notice how he had a few notifications. They were mainly from the gammas and a few from his family.
He had already told his parents he wasn't coming home for break. He said some stupid lie saying that he had college stuff to handle so he didn't have to go. His family didn't know about Max, they didn't even know he was gay. They would be against it anyways.
He did have some time so he decided to just pack Max's suitcase. He had folded a few clothes but it wasn't much. Bradley wanted them to leave when Max got back so he started to pack Max's suitcase for him.
After a few minutes the door opened and Bradley saw another one of Max's friends walk in. Pj, Bradley recalled. When he walked I'm they greeted each other with a nod while him and Bobby started talking.
“I can belive your not coming home for spring break!” Bobby exclaimed. Bradley listened as Bobby started shoving things in his bag. He had to hold himself back from packing Bobby's bag while he packed Maxs.
“you know I can't go home. My dad probably doesn't even want to see me. Besides I've already decided that I'm spending the break with Mocha!” Pj talked while he paced around and absent minded until he sat on the bed.
“I don't blame you for that. Your dad suuuucksss” Bobby slurred out. Bradley kept folding Max's clothes and placing them in the suitcase. It didn't take long for the door to open again and Max walk in.
“Maxamillian!” Bobby cherred. Max had just gotten out of the dorm showers with dripping wet hair and a loose muscle shirt and some baggy shorts.
“Hey man.” Max replied, giving Bobby a high five as he ran towards him and walked over to wear Bradley was and put his arm on his waist kissing Bradley's cheek.
“Hey Brad” Max said. Bradley turned his face to see Max standing beside him. He had such passionate and love eyes when he looked at him. Bradley whipped his head back to the suitcase. He didn't want to start getting embarrassed in front of his roomates.
“Hey Max” Bradley replied in an almost grumble. Bradley looked at Max's arm on his waist. He was never big on PDA. Max took notice and pulled his hand away.
“You didn't have to pack my suitcase for me. I was gonna do it when I got back.” Max sat on his bed. Bradley folded they last few things.
“And I want to leave soon.” Bradley forced out. It didn't take long for Bradley to finish packing Max's suitcase. By the time he finished Bobby had finished packing his bag. Max changed into his regular clothes and packed his last few things. They said goodbyes to Pj and starting walking towards the van.
“How you feeling Brad? Nervous?” Bobby asked. Bradley scowled at him.
“First of all it's Bradley.” He took a breath before continuing. “Second of all I'm not nervous. I've met Max's dad before.” Bradley explained.
“But not as a couple!” Bradley slurred out, putting his arm over Bradley.
“Your his boyfriend now.” Bobby slurred again. Bradley was supried he didnt start spiting through all his slurs. Max soon got between the two and pushed Bobby's arm off the other.
“Lay off him Bobby.” Max laughed out.
“All I'm saying is he's meeting your dad as your boyfriend now.” Bobby shrugged. He was right, Bradley was nervous. He was nervous as hell. He had been for a whole week. He hadn't been focusing or even sleeping well. He had only talked to Goofy once since everything and it was a short apology. It was also more than just his dad that Bradley was nervous about.
He was seeing his friends from his hometown, his childhood home. Everyone had said this was a big step in dating and it felt serious. He was serious with Max and this was his chance to prove it. This had to be good.
“It doesn't matter.” Max interrupted Bradleys thoughts, “My dad is still the same guy Bobby.” Max shrugged off. It was nice how calm Max was.
Bobby gave a look like he wanted to say something else but Max shot him a look and he stopped. It made Bradley curious.
The three of them loaded in the van with Bobby and Max in the front and Bradley in the back. While they drove Bradley decided he needed more sleep. Running on 3 hours is not enough to be meeting your boyfriend's dad too.
He laid his head against the window watching as the trees ran by them. The last word he heard before sleeping was “so you didn't tell him about your dad's new….” Before falling asleep. It shouldn't be important, right?
—-----------------------
When they arrived in the neighborhood Bradley woke up by a gentle tap by Max.
“Wake up Brad were almost there.” Bradley blinked in the sun and rubbed his eyes. He looked at his reflection through the window and fixed his clothes and hair before looking back at Max.
“Doughnut? We just got them.” Max offered, showing a box of doughnuts. Bradley took one bite and it into it. It was cream filled with a sweet icing.
“It's good were did you get these?” He asked. He never had a sweet tooth but these were good. They had a taste of mint with it and the icing tasting like a nice coffee. Bradley didn't think the flavors would work but they did in this doughnut.
“Local store down town. I'll take you there!” Max smiled, his teeth showing through. His teeth were so far apart with such a huge overbite. He was such a stupid sweet dork. Bradley looked away to cover the blush on his cheeks.
They decided to drop off Max and Bradley at Max's house and Bobby was taking his van home for break. When they arrived on the driveway Bradley took a breath, squeezing the handle of his suit case for dear life. Max placed a hand on the other's shoulder.
“Don't worry Brad. You'll be fine. My dad likes you” The two walked to the door and rang the doorbell.
“Just so you know.”
Bradley looked at Max. “My dad's boyfriend is here and he has an unusual way of speaking. Just don't bring much attention to it.”
Wait.
Max's dad had a what? He didn't tell him? It was like he was really coming over to meet a parent for the first time.
Bradley started to fix his clothes. He straighted his vest and dusted himself off a little. Before he could truly spiral however he heard the door open.
He looked down and saw a short duck dressed in a sailor uniform in front of them. Bradley had never seen this duck before. The duck started to quack something out. It sounded like he yelled, “Max!”
“Hey Donald.” Max bent down and hugged the duck. There's no way this was his dad's boyfriend. When they pulled away the duck turned and looked at Bradley. Max cleared his throat.
“Donald, this is my boyfriend.” Max ushered his hands to Bradley and showed him off.
“Bradley Uppercrust the lll.” Bradley extended his hand for the duck to shake. He knows he has a smug smile decorating his face but it's forced, so forced. Donald enthusiastically started to shake his hand.
“It's nice to meet you Bradley! I've heard so much about you!” the duck squabbled. Bradley was doing his best to keep up with what Donald is saying. He knew a few people with speech impediments so he could understand one or two unusual ways of talking.
Donald pushed the door open and ushered for Max and Bradley to enter. When they walked in the smell of chocolate chip cookies found there way to Bradley instantly.
“Goofy! Max is here!” Donald yelled out.
Bradley took in the way the house looked. It was a small nice house. It had various pictures decorating the walls and shelves. Bradley looked over to the living room were a fireplace was. Above the mantel there were photos of what he assumed to be Max. Bradley also took into account the amount of sea themed decor.
“Heya Maxey!” Goofy yelled running forward towards the two boys. He had a tray of just freshly made cookies in his hand. Goofy had an apron on, a chef's hat, and a pair of oven mittens on his hands.
While running he slipped on the floor, throwing all the cookies and the tray in the air. Bradley was terrified as it looked like the tray was coming straight for him! No one else seemed scared at all. If anything they seemed relaxed. Max simply grabbed the sweater from around his waist over his hands and ran to catch all the cookies in the tray. One cookie didn't land conveniently in the tray, Donald caught it with his hand.
“saved.” Donald smiled as he examined the cookie. It was so smooth that Bradley had to ask if they planned the whole thing.
“No. You learn a few things when you know my dad.” Max shrugged off. Donald set the cookie on the tray as Goofy stood up.
“Sorry about that Brad, Hyuk!” Goofy laughed. Bradley had to register what just happened. It took him a moment but he responded eventually.
“It's fine sir.” Goofy smiled bright.
“You don't need to be so proper with me Brad! Just call me goofy!” Goofy called out as he walked back into the kitchen and set the tray down. He took off his apron, hat and gloves and hung them up.
“Of course Goofy.” Bradley forced. It was strange being so friendly now when he was technically his boyfriend's dad. Sure they had been in a frat together but still. It made him almost uneasy.
“Why don't you two go ahead and get settled in? We fixed up Maxs old room” Goofy suggested. It sounded like a good way for Bradley to feel less tense. Bradley looked at Max to see if he wanted to go as well. Max caught on quickly after glancing at Bradley.
“Yeah sure dad. Come on Brad, I'll show you the way.” Max started to walk with Bradley trailing behind him. Bradley followed Max up stairs and into one of the rooms. It was a room with a bed in the middle and a single dresser in the room. There wasn't many things around the room other than some more sea themed decor.
“I never thought you and your dad were into sea themed decor.” Bradley joked out. Max set his suitcase in front the bed.
“Probably since we're not.” Max replied. Bradley set his suit case beside Maxs. “It's all over your house Max.” Bradley explained, gesturing to all the decorations around the room. Max sat down on the bed.
“that's because it's Donalds. He's really into the sea and ocean. Hell he even served in the navy and had a genuine houseboat before he moved in with my dad.” Bradley sat next to Max.
“So you had nothing decorating your walls growing up? Without all the sea stuff this rooms bare.” Bradley tried to understand. Max shook his head.
“No no I had tons of stuff in my room. I just took it with me when I went to college is all. It was mainly a bunch of skating stuff and powerline posters.” Max joked. Powerline. It was Max's favorite artist. When you spend enough time with him you heard about them.
Before they started dating Bradley had stopped by Max's dorm. While there Bradley asked about a poster on Max's wall and it turned out go be a powerline poster. Bradley had never heard of them so Max gave an impromptu concert and then explained everything he knew about powerline. It was the dumbest thing Bradley had ever seen but strangely it made him start to fall for him.
“You and powerline.” Bradley laughed.
Max nugged Bradley. “You know you love them too.”
Bradley rolled his eyes. “I don't. I hate them so much.” Bradley playfully remarked.
Max moved closer to Bradley and quietly sung, “maybe love is the reason why.”
Bradley rolled his eyes. “Shut up.” He said with no malice in his voice.
Max didn't listen. He got closer to Bradley and leaned into his neck.“for the first the first time ever.” Max started.
Max nuzzled into Bradley, “were seeing it eye to eye.” Max finished in a laugh. Bradley laughed as Max started to kiss his neck, the long parts of Maxs hair tickling the other.
The two fell back on the bed with Max continuing to pepper Bradley with kisses on his neck and soon moved up to his face. Bradley grabbed Max and wrapped his arms around his neck.
“I fucking hate that song.” Bradley said.
“Im sure thats why you listen to it all the time” Max replied sarcastically. “You mind if I kiss you?” Max asked.
Bradley gave a hum of consent and the started to kiss. Bradley held Max there as they kissed, occasionally biting his lip piercings which made Max laugh.
Bradley wasn't lying. He hated that song. He also hated powerline. He honestly couldn't stand their music. He only liked it cause Max loved there music and he loved Max.
Everytime a song played he hated it but it made him think of Max and he couldnt get enough of him. He could deal with the struggle of there music if it made Max smile that stupid ugly smile.
