lucifer had been informed by Charlie that azrael the angel of death and his subordinates would come to visit the hotel even though he was happy for Charlie he had no intention on speaking to his estranged brother and did his best to avoid lingering around the hotel despite the fact that he lived there, that was until he heard a knock on his door,thinking it was his daughter he opened it only to face the very same person he was trying his best to avoid all day.
"Well is that anyway to treat your brother who came all the way from the heavens above ?" *says azrael*
*Hearing the oh-so-familiar voice, Lucifer blinked a few times before he suddenly snapped in annoyance.*
"Azrael. What in the *fu-"*
" you finally decide to show yourself almost didn't believe you truly lived here I will have you know that it is very rude to keep a guest waiting"
**lucifer paused his cursing and cleared his throat.** "Ugh... what... what are you doing here?" *lucifer smiles awkwardly as he leads his "guest" to the balcony*
"You seem surprised to see me considering the bloodbath that you and your daughter did last extermination, the death of adam made quite the stir above" *Lucifer's brother replies"
*Lucifer couldn't stop a smirk from forming across his face as he heard that.**
"Did it?" **He asked, raising a brow in slight curiosity.** "I guess everyone's pretty *butthurt* about it, then?"
Oh don't be so proud of yourself *the angel replies*
*He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms while staring at Azrael.**
"Why not? I'm not *allowed* to be proud of myself, *really?*" **He questioned, raising a brow as he continued.** "I'm the King of Hell, the *Father of sin.* You think I *wouldn't* be proud?"
"you seem to be happy with your situation considering the miserable life you lead" *azrael remarks*
He paused for a short moment before chuckling slightly, shaking his head in slight disbelief. "Miserable? You think *I'm* miserable? I'm living like a king, and I enjoy it." **He continued, raising a brow again as he questioned Azrael, curious about where this conversation was going to lead.**
"What's so "miserable" about being in charge of everything, hm?"
"I would like to humour you in your delusion but alas I came to inform you that i will be staying for an indefinite amount of time here you see I bring good news heaven actually agrees to give your daughter a chance to redeem sinners with her hotel , in our defence sera and adam kept the extermination a secret from all of heaven us included and they... well... she will face consequences for her actions" "*azrael replies*
*Lucifer's eyes widened with utter disbelief at Azrael's words. He stayed quiet for a few seconds, shocked, before he spoke out again.**
"Heaven *agrees* to give Charlie a chance? What, are you *serious right now*?"
"Do I look like I am joking ?" *azrael says raising an eyebrow*
**Lucifer continued to stare at Azreal silently for a few more moments, processing his words, before he spoke out again, a bewildered tone present in his voice.**
"So you mean that Charlie's actually going to...?"
**He paused, almost feeling like he had gone insane.** "...I can't be *hearing* this right."
"Why isn't that what you wanted we extended you an olive branch you would be dumb not to take it " *annoyance drips from the archangels voice*
*Despite the fact that he was absolutely shocked and confused, Lucifer smirked slightly.**
"You think I'm stupid, brother?" **He stated with a slight tilt of his head.** "I know how *hypocritical* Heaven is, and I know exactly what they're playing at. What's the *catch*, Azrael?"
"There is no catch" *He says sharply*
Lucifer raised a brow as Azrael spoke out. He folded his arms and took a step closer to Azrael, a curious gleam in his eyes as he spoke out again.**
"Come on now, you're not *serious* right? There's *always* a catch when it comes to Heaven. Always."
"There it goes , we are actually giving you a chance to fix things between heaven and hell and start anew but you refuse to take any accountability for your actions and proceed to victimise yourself " *the angel responds while rolling his eyes simultaneously*
*Lucifer narrowed his eyes as Azrael spoke out once more, his smirk vanishing as he did.**
"Hey now, let's not go there. I might've had my mistakes but what about *you*? Huh?" **He questioned, taking yet another step towards his brother.** "Are you *really* trying to paint Heaven as innocent, because they are *anything* but that. You know that and *I* know that."
"I am not trying to paint heaven as innocent , we all made mistakes but unlike you I take accountability for them and try to do better instead of wallowing in my bitterness otherwise I wouldn't be here" *azrael confesses*
*Lucifer fell silent at Azrael's words. He knew that Azrael made a point, but he's in too much stubborn state of denial to admit it.**
"I've taken plenty of *accountability*, thank you." **He huffed in annoyance, rolling his eyes before continuing, his voice suddenly rising in volume a bit.** "I have *not* been wallowing in bitterness."
"Oh really well you certainly didn't feel guilty when you were bragging about taking both lilith and eve from Adam" *azrael reminds him*
**Lucifer chuckled at Azrael's comment, rolling his eyes again.**
"How *dare* I have a bit of *fun* then?" **He stated with sarcasm.** "I guess I have to be a perfect goody-two-shoes like *you* instead."
"Fun and where did that fun lead you ??? oh right down here" *He says dryly*
*Lucifer let out a scoff, rolling his eyes again.**Oh, *please.* You don't think *you* wouldn't have done *exactly the same* if you were in my shoes, don't you?"
*azrael's anger starts to show*
"No I wouldn't. I wouldn't have ruined the lives of many for my own pleasure and what did you get out of it ? Nothing"
**Lucifer rolled his eyes again, growing more and more annoyed with Azrael's constant questioning and his own lack of a real answer to Azrael's points.**"I got *plenty* out of it. *Power*, for one thing. And besides, it wasn't *just* for my *pleasure*.
"Power right that's why even an overlord doesn't show you any respect"*the archangel scoffs at the memory of lucifer and alastor pitiful rivalry*
**Lucifer's eyes suddenly flashed a slight red as Azrael spoke out again. He gritted his teeth and suddenly took yet another step closer towards Azrael, practically in his face now.**Watch it." **He said in a low, dangerous tone, his anger suddenly rising at that one comment alone.**
*azrael proceeds to taunt him* "Or what ? Last time I checked I dont have a wife that you can steal"
*Lucifer's hands suddenly clenched into tight fists at Azrael's comment. His eyes continued to flash a darker red. He suddenly snapped out in irritation, getting as close to Azrael's face as he could.**"Is that what this is about, huh? Jealous that I was *loved*, that I *had* something to lose, and you *never will*?
"Jealous I didn't know you were that much in denial you know there is this new perfume add I saw down here what did it say ? Oh yeah : delusion convince yourself" *azrael replies with a smirk on his face*
**Lucifer let out a scoff, rolling his eyes yet again.**Yes, because obviously, I'm the one in denial here." **He commented sarcastically before taking a sharp jab at Azrael.** "At least I'm not single and lonely, unlike *some people*."
*azrael laughs* "you mean to tell me that you are not single and lonely ??? please allow me to remind you how your relationship ended first where is lilith??? oh right it's been 7 years since she abandoned you and your daughter and ran away "
**Lucifer's eyes suddenly darkened at Azrael's words, growing even more irritated. The jab at his failed marriage with Lilith hurt a lot more than he cared to admit. He suddenly grit his teeth, forcing his temper back before he spoke out again, his voice strained and low.**Careful, Azrael... you're walking on thin ice right now."
*azrael scoffs at his threats* "Oh I am going to keep walking on it , you may be "married" on paper but the only family that you have left is your daughter and from what she told me earlier it looks like you didn't even give two shits about her before she opened her hotel"
**At that comment, Lucifer suddenly felt a stab through the heart. His eyes slowly widened as Azrael's words reached his ears... and Azrael couldn't have hit a more sensitive subject. Lucifer remained quiet for a few seconds, the words sinking in before he suddenly lashed out once more, his voice loud and anger clear in his eyes once again.**SHUT. *UP*." **He snapped through clenched teeth, his body shaking with anger, hands clenched into tight fists.*
*azrael drops the killing blow he has been waiting to deliver* "Oh I am not done yet , do you know where your precious slut is ??? after she left you and your daughter we found out she had been relaxing in heaven this whole time , adam was apparently covering for her that's why we didn't find out until now and you know what is even better ?!! YOUR WIFE is the reason why the extermination happened in the first place she made a deal with adam allowing him to perform the extermination as long as he let her stay in heaven without anyone knowing"
**Lucifer's eyes suddenly widened in utter *shock* at Azrael's words. The anger from before was quickly replaced with *horror* and *disbelief* as the fallen angel let out a strained and choked gasp, his whole body starting to quiver at the terrible revelation. He staggered backwards, struggling internally with the horrible truth. He was in disbelief, completely and utterly.**No... No... *No* *No* *No* *No-no-no-no-no!* **He suddenly snapped out, his strained voice quivering and shaking along with his body.*
"How does it feel to know that your wife not only went back to the ex husband she claimed to hate but also allowed him to commit a genocide of her own population" *the angel says coldly*
**Lucifer could only stand there, quivering in anger, shock, and utter disbelief as Azrael spoke out once more. The information was absolutely *gut-wrenching* for the fallen angel. It took a few deep, shaky breaths before he could trust himself to speak out again, his voice quiet and strained.**
"I... No... She..."
**He fell silent for a few seconds, taking a moment to steady himself and continue.**
"She... *betrayed* me..."
"She did.....just like how you betrayed us when you chose her over your family " *he reminds him with a cold rage*
Lucifer suddenly shook his head, refusing to believe what he just heard. There was no way that this was true... this *had* to be some kind of sick joke. This couldn't be real. He quickly tried to find a counter-argument, anything to negate what Azrael had told him...**"No... you're *lying* to me, Azrael. Don't *lie* to me!"
"I wish I was lying but this is the truth" *He replies*
**Lucifer suddenly clenched his teeth again, his whole body shaking in anger and frustration. He slammed his clenched fist against a nearby wall, before snapping back at Azrael.**
"Why does... *everything* I *ever* do... turn out *wrong*..."
**He had never felt this frustrated and angry, and all of that anger was directed towards only himself, all that self-blaming. He suddenly let out a frustrated, strained sound and fell into a chair nearby, burying his face into his shaking hands.**
"I ask myself the same thing everyday you were supposed to be the angel of light and yet you only bring pain and despair upon your wake like when you turned eve into an unrecognisable monster after she ate the forbidden fruit only a shell of the beautiful woman she was before all because of your greed , you had to take everything away from adam because you hated him so much and then blame it all on "free will" "
**Lucifer could only sit there, feeling like absolute *shit* as Azrael spoke out again. He hated that Azrael was right, he always is...* He closed his eyes, feeling like he had no way to argue against Azrael's words.**
"I know, okay?! I know! I *know.*"
**He snapped quietly through clenched teeth, his voice laced with frustration and anger. A beat passed before he spoke out again, his voice quiet.**
"I messed up... *Bad*...
"Yeah and now we all have to pay for the consequences of your mistakes , you ruined everyone's lives all because of your pride" *azrael says bitterly*
**Lucifer let out a bitter scoff, still feeling that overwhelming anger and frustration course through his body. He spoke out quietly in a low, bitter tone.**
"Yeah... I guess you're *right*..."
**Another beat passed before Lucifer suddenly let out a sigh, slowly beginning to sink deeper into his own regret and self-hatred. He continued to speak quietly, in a bitter, strained tone.**
"I ruined *everything*, didn't I...?
*lucifer's comment made azrael snap his boilling anger taking over his senses* "You had everything you were God's favourite dammit!!! You could have asked for your own universe and he would have given it to you !!! But no you chose to go behind his back and orchestrate A CIVIL WAR in a rebellious attempt to overthrow him in order to get power for yourself and that woman !!!"
*With Azrael's continued verbal attack, Lucifer's mood quickly sunk from bitter realization to outright depressed self-hatred. The words stung him like salt in his many unhealed wounds. At this point, he was starting to become overwhelmed by all the things he had done wrong, and the sheer amount of regret and self-blame he felt. His voice became quiet once again as he spoke out.**
"I had everything... and I ruined it... I ruined *everything*..."
"I just don't understand how you could betray your realm , your people , YOUR FAMILY for one human , were we truly so easily replaceable in your eyes?! , after everything we have gone through together for eons !!! sticking together through thick and thin did none of it matter to you !? Did we truly never matter to you!?*azrael says cracks visible in his shaking voice as his confident facade starts to crumble*do you think it was easy for the rest of us to explain to our younger siblings that THEIR BROTHER who they are supposed to trust and seek protection from is willing to harm them, that their brother tried to kill THEIR FATHER !!!, that their brother was willing to forsake everything we have built for the love of a woman he met 2 months ago !!! You may have gained a new family from it but you only did it by destroying the one that you already had and then left us to pick up the pieces"
Lucifer's body visibly tensed up at Azrael's questions, the memory of his actions suddenly hitting him like a truck, along with the realization of the sheer amount of pain and suffering he had caused simply for a few moments of pleasure. Once again, his anger rose, but this time his anger was directed towards himself.**
"I..."
**He was quiet for a few seconds as the memories flashed once again through his mind, before speaking again in a bitter, guilty tone.**
"I don't *know*... I don't know *why* i did it ... i was just young and in love and stupid *lucifer says with tears in his eyes*
"*azrael fixes his composure* "nevermind I will take my leave and get some fresh air before going back to my room , this conversation was a waste of time but at least it allowed me to get some things off my chest , the only person that I truly feel sorry for is your daughter she is a good soul and doesn't deserve to live in this trash realm she might be the only good thing to come out of this so have no fear no matter our feelings for one another I will help your daughter with her hotel and I hope that it will flourish and grow and more importantly.....succeed"
*All the anger quickly washed away from Lucifer's emotions, replaced with a sudden sense of genuine gratitude. Even after everything he had done, Azrael was still going to help Charlie. That was unexpected on Lucifer's part. He was silently touched by the gesture, a small glimmer of hope appearing in his mind. He suddenly managed to speak out, his voice quiet and strained.*
"...thank you, Azrael..."
"I shall bid you good night" *azrael says as he flies off*
Lucifer watched as Azrael flew away, a small sense of gratitude, relief, and a hint of hope swelling up inside of him. As he watched Azrael leave, he finally spoke out once more, in a quiet, strained tone.**
"Good night..."
