Work Text:
It was a frigid December evening in Tokyo, and Suguru hummed softly to the melody of an old song playing through the small Bluetooth speaker in the kitchen while he and Satoru slow-danced together in their adjacent living room. The moment was so domestic and it was almost too much for Suguru’s poor, romantic heart to handle.
Snow fell in gentle droves outside the floor-to-ceiling windows of their shared high rise apartment that they were able to afford of their shared salaries from Jujutsu Tech and Satoru’s clan status, and they had moved in together shortly after Suguru finally confessed to his best friend. It had been nearly ten years since that day, and now three years since the two had gotten married. Soft light from the Christmas tree in the corner of the living room illuminated their faces, making Satoru’s eyes sparkle like little lights. The way Satoru looked at Suguru never failed to make his heart skip a beat, even after so long together.
Suguru’s hand made its way to Satoru’s soft cheek, stroking it gently while they looked at each other like they were the only two in the world. The gold wedding ring on Suguru’s finger glinted in the soft light, a reminder of the tender love they both shared.
“This is nice,” Satoru whispered, closing his azure eyes while his husband stroked his cheek.
“Very nice,” Suguru agreed, pulling Satoru closer. “Wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Satoru snuggled closer to Suguru in response, laying his shoulder into his husband’s to drink in his cedarwood scent.
They both nearly melted from the next song that came on, with Suguru’s eyes growing misty from emotion. He pulled his partner closer as he hummed the melody of the song they shared their first dance to at their wedding, nearly crying as the memories of the happiest day of their lives played in his brain like it was yesterday.
“Kiss me once, then kiss me twice, then kiss me once again,” Suguru sang softly, trying his best to not start crying. “Haven’t felt like this my dear since can’t remember when, it’s been a long, long time…”
Satoru started to cry into his shoulder, turning into putty as Suguru’s baritone voice serenaded his ears just like on their wedding night. Suguru started to cry afterwards, rubbing his husband’s back.
“Don’t do that, you’re making me cry too, honey,” Suguru murmured shakily, gripping Satoru tighter.
“I can’t help it…” Satoru sniffled, listening to Harry James’ trumpet fill the room.
“It’s just like our wedding all over again,” Suguru teased, chuckling softly as his tears slowed, feeling his heart nearly bursting from love in his chest.
“You always know how to make me feel special…” Satoru murmured, pulling back to look at Suguru again. His cheeks and nose were pink from crying, just like Suguru’s.
“Because you’re my one and only, sweetheart. I want to always make you feel special,” Suguru said back sweetly. He leaned up to capture Satoru’s lips in a sweet kiss, smiling softly and feeling his heart melt. Satoru wasted no time in kissing him back, his blush deepening from it all.
“I love you, Suguru Geto,” Satoru murmured into his husband’s lips.
“I love you too, Satoru Geto,” Suguru murmured back, letting go after a moment as the song changed. They both nearly melted again as the next song came on and Satoru’s sweet voice started to fill the room this time.
“So this is love… Mm-m-m-m… So this is love…” he sang softly, closing his eyes and pressing his forehead into his partner’s forehead. “So this is what makes life divine…”
Suguru smiled widely and blushed as they both ascended further and higher up into sweet bliss within each other’s arms, bringing Satoru’s hand to his lips. He pressed a gentle kiss to the wedding ring on his partner’s finger, a sign of eternal devotion to the man he loved most.
“It’s a shame we have work tomorrow or I’d dance the night away with you,” Suguru whispered with a soft chuckle, kissing his husband’s cheek.
“Don’t remind me…” Satoru pouted softly, looking pathetically into Suguru’s eyes. “Be quiet, you’re ruining the moment.
“Okay, okay,” Suguru relented lightly, going back to slowly swaying Satoru around the room.
They danced for a while longer, eventually stopping after a few yawns shared between them.
“Let’s have a glass of wine and go to bed…” Satoru murmured, feeling uncharacteristically sleepy.
“I like that idea,” Suguru agreed, letting go of Satoru to hold his hand while they walked to the kitchen. Suguru poured them both flutes of Satoru’s favorite rosé, an import all the way from Italy. They both made their way back into their shared bedroom, climbing into bed with one another. Satoru snuggled into Suguru’s arms with practiced grace, resting his head on the other’s chest while Suguru’s arm wrapped around his partner. They sipped their wine and quietly watched a movie together, just enjoying the silence with one another. Satoru dozed off to sleep first as always, snoring very softly on his lover’s chest. Suguru chuckled softly and turned off their movie before following Satoru into a peaceful slumber.
