Work Text:
Wade groaned, looking around the area. It was dark and smelled strongly of mold. And cold. Very cold. He glanced down with a sigh, of course they stripped him, how original.
"Now we've got you all to ourselves—"
-----
Logan was annoyed. He was annoyed because he wasn't being annoyed. He'd woken up and Wade was gone, no milk in the fridge and the man was gone. Up and gone without any warning.
He'd first thought he'd gone out to the shop or something, but that was over an hour ago. He's already checked the man's room, already figuring out it hadn't been occupied since before he woke up.
Now Logan was going to have to go and find the bastard, it didn't look like went to go fight as his kit was still stored but it didn't help Logan's mood at all. The man had nowhere to work, and had not left his side for more than an hour since they saved the place.
He tucked himself into the leftovers of his suit and threw on the closest top he could find. The sleeves tore off, but at least he had something over his chest so Wade wouldn't go on about showing again. Mask tucked into his belt, he set off to find the wayward man.
-----
It was the acidic scent that brought him over first, the strange leather and acid smell that he's come to associate with Wade. But it was the unfamiliar scents alongside that of copper and iron that made him look closer.
He felt his lips twitch with the start of a growl when he noticed the obvious signs of a struggle. There was a spilt milk in the alleyway that only smelt a couple of hours off, and there was blood across the floor near it.
-----
"You jackasses made me walk."
Wade paused from where he was screaming for effect as he turned to look towards the source of the noise. "I did think there was meant to be more of you," Wade commented.
"Get back to screaming!"
Wade looked over at the main man. "Poor man needs screams to make him feel good," Wade sighed. "Of course," he said with a nod before he started to scream again as they cut his skin.
-----
The fucking idiots. They made one of the kidnappers walk. The scent was still fresh enough that he could still follow it if he focused enough. Once he was beyond the business of the main city center he was able to track it a lot easier.
He felt his anger grow, beneath the scent of frustration, there was very clear amusement and satisfaction. The growl continued to build in the back of his throat, how dare they be so— happy about taking Wade. Wade was not theirs.
Logan held back when he started to catch up to the man, making sure to keep his distance in case they realised they were being followed. His teeth bared when he caught the sound of Wade screaming, but the following scream — one of actual pain — made him pick up the pace.
The doors didn't stand a chance, coming right off their hinges. He had just enough time between one and the next to throw on the mask before he broke through the door into the room.
He was hit by the wave of pleasure and amusement alongside that of pain, the iron and copper smell he scented outside the building was overwhelming. He bared his teeth, releasing his claws.
Logan's eyes quickly found Wade's, searching the man as his scent turned to faint relief. The snarled built in the back of his throat when he spotted the various cuts and bruises across the man's flesh.
Wade knew when Logan noticed his missing arm. The snarl built into a roar, the sound echoing around the place as he quickly moved, pouncing on the man who was next to him. He knew the roar wasn't directed at him, but even he couldn't help the way his body reacted in fear. It wasn't a threat but a clear promise of the death and destruction to follow.
"Holy fuck!"
"That's Wolverine!"
"I thought he was dead!"
"I didn't realise Wolverine could roar like that," Wade commented, glancing over towards the book wall "Thought it was always more of a scream?" Wade watched as Logan moved from one man to another, showing no mercy as he clawed at them. Only few got a quick death, others he slashed at until they were torn apart.
Logan snarled, moving from one to the other. He tore at them until he could hear their bodies giving up, lungs giving one last wheeze. There was copper in his mouth and he pounced at the next, his teeth digging deep into their throat.
Wade kept trying to free himself, hoping his lack of arm would allow him to slip out of the ropes but sadly they'd tied his body down in a separate line to his arms. He watched as Logan continued to move from one person to another with snarls and flashing claws. It was lovely to watch, with a mostly prime position to see it all unfold.
He watched carefully, normally the man had impeccable control, slicing in ways that would kill quickly. Mercy kills compared to these. Wade watched as the next was sliced into four parts, gasping for breath as blood built in their chest. They died to a slice through their head, eyes vacant as their brain matter decorated the ground near them.
Wade swore under his breath as Logan charged by him, the claws digging into his back as the chair was cut apart. He went to complain before realising that the man was still attacking the final people fleeing.
He realised something was wrong, very wrong. This was not the Wolvie he's grown to know. The person in front of him ripping someone's throat out with their teeth was feral in behaviour.
Logan snarled, digging his claws into the person's chest. His body shook as he listened to the surroundings, there were four more heart beats, three once the one below him stopped. The air was filled with fear, almost masking the iron and copper that threatened to swallow him.
He growled, turning towards the one trying to run. They reeked of fear, their heartbeat loud in his ears. Logan snarled, moving quickly to land both his sets of claws into their chest. His blood was boiling, his anger calling for the spillage of life.
Wade watched as Wolverine tore apart the screaming man below him. There was no mercy, no elegance, just tearing apart the man limb by limb. The once white shirt stained, the yellow uniform hidden beneath the blood and organs.
He spotted the next person before Wolverine did, they were a terrified teenager, looking completely out of their depth. Wade didn't need to have super senses to know they were terrified.
Logan turned towards the loudest heartbeat, it was firing at quick fire. Terrified, weak. He snarled, smelling the fear.
Wade acted quickly, springing from his chair and tripping over Logan before he was able to reach the kid. He landed on the man, digging one knee into the man's back while his remaining arm went around Wolverine's neck. "Run!" Wade shouted, glancing quickly up to see the teenager running for the open door.
Logan snarled as they got away, trying to twist himself free from the weight above him. Once his target was out of reach he focused himself on the one on top of him. He reached his hand above him, slashing into their head and releasing himself.
Wade groaned as Logan practically tore his ear off. He grunted as suddenly Wolverine was on him, claws slashing at him wildly. He grabbed at them, pushing them away while he head-butted the man.
Logan snarled, shaking his head before slashing at their chest with his free claws. Their heartbeat was loud, but nowhere near the speed of the others. Nor was there the scent of fear coming from them.
Wade struggled against the man with only one arm available, only giving himself three points to pin a limb down. It didn't work, leaving one of his claws free to continue the attack.
"Easy there, Wolvie, little too close," Wade gasped as the man's claws came too close to cutting off his cock for comfort. He headbutted him again as the man snarled at him.
Wade could feel himself growing tired, trying to wrestle an enraged Wolverine missing his kit and arm was not easy. Nor was it something he ever thought he'd have to do.
"Peanut, I don't want to fight you," Wade said, grunting as the man dug his claws into his stomach again. He really didn't want to, besides, he didn't want to ruin the memory of the last time they tried to kill each other.
Logan snarled, shaking his head to clear the ringing again. He ripped his hand free again, stabbing both sets of claws into the person's chest before latching his teeth into their neck.
Oh wow. Talk about what happened last time. Fuck. Wade really couldn't help the way his body reacted to that. He's already being trained like some bloody dog. And to think Logan was Wolvie, not him.
Logan paused as he got a noseful of a new scent. It wasn't the dark alluring smell of fear, but the sweetness of something that tugged at his memory. He twisted his claws, taking another deep sniff.
Acid, leather— arousal. Logan swallowed, his teeth still firmly in the other's neck. He released him, taking another deep noseful. There was only one person who smelt that way. Only one with that strange acidic mix, the love for violence. This— this wasn't an enemy, wasn't prey; this was Deadpool, Wade.
He sagged into the man, retracting his claws as his hands slipped to the floor. Logan dug his head into the other's neck, taking in deep lung fulls of the strange acidic scent. "You asshole," Logan muttered, not entirely sure why, but he knew it was what Wade would need.
Wade sighed in relief, saging against the floor. Whatever had happened to Logan seemed to be wearing off. He took a deep breath, feeling his wounds continue to stitch together slowly while most of his body's focus went into his arm. He glanced over to the side. "Does this call for another epic food ending?" Wade questioned.
Everything was going to be alright now. The baddies were gone, heroes reunited. One of them is shirtless, the other not. Everything was right.
Wade paused, frowning as he felt Logan shivering on top of him. The man's head was still tucked close to his neck, his nose almost digging in. He rested his hand on the man's head, just about hearing the strangled whine the man released. He listened closer, hearing the gasps for breath, the broken cries.
Logan closed his fists as the dam burst. He couldn't stop the sobs as they broke free, his chest burning as he struggled to draw in air. It happened again. He lost himself to his rage. He couldn't help it, not when he saw Wade tied up in that chair.
Wade wrapped his regenerating arm around Logan's back, trying to rub it soothingly while he rubbed him between his shoulders. "I got you," Wade said soothingly.
Logan shook his head as he tried to hide his head in the man's neck. "I'm sorry," he gasped out. He lost himself. "I'm sorry," he said again, gasping for air.
Wade shushed him, rubbing the man's shoulder blade. "You have nothing to be sorry for," he stated. He hated the whine the man released that broke through the sobbing. He could hear how Logan was struggling to get a deep breath in and he worried he was going to pass out before he calmed him down.
Logan shook his head again, feeling his body shiver. "I tried to kill you," he whispered out through his sobs. He swore he wouldn't, he wouldn't break down to that beast again.
"It's not the first time," Wade tried to joke, thankful for the small growl that followed. Wade glanced over to the side. "I don't know what I'm doing."
Logan just about managed to growl. That wasn't the point. They lived together now, he shouldn't be trying to kill him. "I'm sorry." He moved, wrapping his legs around the man. He doesn't know what he would have done if he succeeded. Logan choked back a whine. What would have happened to Blind Al and Dogpool? "I'm sorry."
Wade continued to rub his back, feeling the man tighten his legs around him. "I got you."
Logan could only watch helpless as black creeped across his vision. How could he have lived with that? Killing those he loves all over again. He choked back another whine, his chest wheezing with his sob. It nearly broke him last time, he doesn't know who would have come out the other side. How many others would he have killed?
Wade nuzzled his head into the man, slowly unhooking the mask from the others face. He shushed him again as he whined, placing the mask to the side before running his fingers through the man's hair. "You got me," Wade whispered, "you saved me."
Logan tried to draw in a deep breath, nearly choking again as a sob built in his throat. He hadn't wanted to hurt Wade, instead he attacked him. He wasn't even angry when he first noticed the man wasn't there. He shouldn't have hurt him.
Wade wrapped his arms as tightly around Logan as he could, tucking his main arm under the other shoulder as he continued to stroke the other's head. He was useless at this.
Logan choked on his breath again. He hasn't felt this unwell in years. But he deserved it, falling back to his anger. He acted like a wild beast, he should be sick.
Wade clutched at him harder, running his fingers through the hair and the back of his head. Fuck, he doesn't know what else to do. "Can you be good for me, Peanut, can you breathe for me?" He questioned, knowing he was going to be stabbed for it once Logan was better.
Logan choked before drawing in a deeper breath, moving his hands so he could hold onto the other's shoulders. "Asshole," he muttered through his gasps. He tried to focus more on his breathing, drawing it in slowly and releasing it. He was still wheezing, the tears falling from his eyes, but at least the darkness was disappearing from his vision.
"That's it," Wade smiled. "Keep breathing for me." He cannot believe that actually worked. Praise kink a mile long. He rubbed the man behind the ear, playing with the hair there.
Logan closed his eyes, focusing on the acidic scent, the calm heartbeat and the feeling of the man playing with his hair. He was alive, he wasn't dead. He hadn't killed Wade.
"So good for me," Wade continued. "Saved me from the bad guys." He felt the catch in Logan's breath more than heard it. "Only the bad guys, everyone else is ok." He relaxed as Logan's breathing calmed out again, pleased he'd guessed what the cause was properly.
"You didn't fear me," Logan whispered, taking in another breath of the acidic scent. He could hear Wade's heartbeat and he tried his best to match it. Wade was still alive.
"What?"
Logan took a deep breath, trying to draw in the needed oxygen. "You didn't fear me," he said louder. He was a raging beast and still the man didn't fear him.
"I could never fear you, Peanut," Wade said honestly. Maybe the doctors were right when they said he was messed up in the head. But at least he's found someone that matches his crazy.
"How long?"
Wade frowned, looking towards the open door. "No more than a day," he said. "Once you restrained me down it wasn't long before you started to snap out of it." He looked down at the man carefully, he's not actually sure what caused him to snap out of it. "What caused you to calm?"
"Last time I spent a week hunting the fear, gutting anything in my path," Logan said slowly, clenching his eyes closer. "Everyone was gone in the mansion and I managed to locate a village following the sound of the heartbeats, only snapped out when there was no one left to fear me." He woke up in the playground, corpses around him. He fled and never stopped drinking to drown himself.
Well, shit. No wonder he sees himself as the villain — the Worst Wolverine. Wade clutched him harder as he heard the start of a cry in the back of the man's throat. "Because I didn't fear you, you stopped?" Wade questioned.
Logan was startled by the laugh that left his throat. "No, there is enough fear in the air to have kept me that way for another day, maybe longer," he admitted. He heard the curious noise in the back of the man's throat. "You have a— thing for violence. Only person I've met to get aroused by me trying to kill them."
Logan chuckled as Wade laughed. He rubbed his cheek against the man's shoulder as he waited for him to calm down. "Snapped me out of it enough I could smell you. Although the sweetness was enough to prove it," he admitted, hearing him start to laugh again.
It felt good to laugh about it, Wade decided as he heard the low rumble in Logan's throat. He was sounding much better, breathing enough to release that strange growled purr.
Logan kept his nose to Wade's throat, smelling the acid and leather as he calmed down his breathing finally. There was only the dull ache left in his chest, his claws still twitching slightly. Suddenly he frowned, Wade was naked, he couldn't walk home like that. "How do we get back?" He questioned.
Wade's eyebrows furrowed as he tried to work it out. He glanced towards the door again, seeing it growing dark out. "We could walk? It is dark enough we might not be spotted," He offered. He startled as Logan's growls suddenly turned angry, almost snarling.
"No!" Logan had growled the word before he fully processed what was being said. Wade was not going to walk around naked, not when others could spot him. He couldn't let anyone else get any ideas.
"Alright, Peanut, we'll see if a phone survived then?" Wade suggested, hearing the growling calm down again. "We could call Van—" Wade's eyes went wide as the growling started to build again, "—Peter?" Luckily it seemed the man didn't have anything against Peter, maybe it was the role the man had in saving the universes that put Logan at ease?
She would not get to see Wade like this, Logan was determined. He could put up with Peter, but she was not allowed near Wade. Logan grunted as Wade started to move.
"Come on big fella, up we get," Wade said, trying to push himself to a sitting position but struggling with the lapful of Wolverine. He bit his lip to stop himself from laughing as Logan released a growl of annoyance.
Logan felt the growl in the back of his throat, he didn't want to get up yet. Just with the slight movement revealed his nose to the smells in the air, no longer drowned out by Wade's scent. He didn't know what would happen, his body was shaking, aching like he ran for days, yet his claws felt all too ready to snap back out.
"Come on, Peanut, let's get up," Wade said slowly, ignoring the growl Logan released. "We can search for the phone together?" He offered, waiting for the other to process the question. This must have really thrown the man off-kilter, was it bringing back memories or something?
Logan huffed, rolling his eyes. That could work. If he stayed close enough maybe he'd be able to focus on Wade's scent and not on the ones still lingering in the air? He huffed again as he peeled himself away, moving to his feet.
He rolled his eyes as Wade muttered behind him. He's not sure what was being said, not when he suddenly caught sight of the bodies surrounding him. He's not even sure he could call them bodies, not when they were so torn apart. Not a single one was whole, most missing multiple limbs.
Wade approached Logan with a frown, hearing the man taking in deep breaths of air as he scanned the surroundings. His body was still shaking, looking wobbly on his feet. Wade quickly looked around to find the most whole body. "Come on, we'll try over there," he said, pointing off to the left where the bodies only seemed to be missing arms.
Logan turned to look over at where Wade was pointing, sucking a breath through his teeth. His ears rang, echoing the screams. He shook his head slightly, trying to ignore them as he headed towards Wade.
Wade watched carefully as Logan followed behind him, all but silent for the large breaths the man was drawing in. He continued to check the various pockets, walking around the bodies to try and find himself a phone.
Logan followed behind, his breath catching in the back of his throat each time he caught sight of the different bodies' faces. His vision went hazy, chest aching more as he looked over them all.
There was fire from the grand fireplace crackling in his ears, old wooden floorboards creaking beneath his feet. Screams and shouts echoing down the corridors.
"Found one!" Wade shouted, pulling out the phone. He flipped it over, wiping the blood away. He held it over the man's face, crossing his fingers before grinning as it unlocked. "Who uses facial recognition now anyway?" Wade huffed. He then swore under his breath at the unfamiliar layout.
Logan flinched, taking a step back at the shout. Everything went silent, only the sound of his rushing blood in his ears. He closed his eyes, trying to ignore everything around him. There was fear in the air and blood in his mouth.
Wade whistled as he waited for Peter to answer the phone. Hopefully in his tired state he would just answer. The amount of times he'd rung the man on a different device should mean he does, but he always complained about spam callers.
Logan sucked in his breath through his teeth again. The air was creaking, metal rubbing on metal. It grated on his ears. Distance screams echoed in his ears, high pitch and terrified. The air was rich with fear and iron, his claws starting to release themselves.
He choked back a gasp as the screams cut off. His mouth felt dry, the taste of rot on his tongue. His body shook, feeling as heavy as lead. Logan clutched at his ears, his knees protesting as he fell down. The metal creaked louder.
Wade swore, turning around sharply as Logan collapsed down to his knees. "Shit," he muttered, quickly rushing over to the man's side. He went to grab the hands away from his ears when he noticed that the claws were almost fully out.
Wade looked towards the book wall. "My years of fandom knowledge doesn't add up to this!" Wade slowly reached out, thankful he had regenerated enough to use both hands, to clasp with the man's hands. He rubbed them carefully, trying to calm him down from stabbing himself in the head.
Logan choked on his breath as he felt something rubbing against his hands, flinching back. The smell of fear grew as more blood and rot filled his mouth, the metal of the swings continuing to scratch and creak in his ears.
Wade leaned forwards, trying to tuck Logan against him again. "Come on, remove the claws for me," he said as he continued to rub the back of the man's hands soothingly.
Logan leaned forwards, feeling himself hit something before he reached his knees. He choked back the whine behind his teeth, shivering as the metal continued to creak. He tried to relax himself, to attempt to block out the noise when he flinched again, his claws withdrawing from his skin.
Wade relaxed slightly as the claws disappeared again. "That's it," he said soothingly. He slowly moved the hands away, wincing at the wounded noise Logan made as he revealed his ears.
Wade hesitated, not sure what to do as he tucked Logan closer, holding the man's hands to their sides. "Peter is on his way," he started, holding the shivering man, "he is coming to collect us, with some spare clothes as well." Wade attempted to chuckle but it fell flat as Logan continued to shiver against him.
"He's not even that surprised I got into this situation," Wade said offhandedly, hearing Logan's breathing starting to calm down again. "He says I always seem to find trouble," Wade said, rolling his eyes, "I think trouble finds me more often."
Logan shivered, even as the creaking slowed down. He dug his nose into the person in front of him, relaxing as he smelt Wade's acidic scent. He wasn't in the mansion, he wasn't in the playground.
Wade took the risk, releasing the hand from his whole arm to slowly rub against the back of the man's head again. "He's bringing my spare clothes for me, figured I'd also get him to bring one of my larger coats as that shirt is covering nothing," Wade said feeling his lips twitch as Logan growled slightly.
Logan released a weak growl. He put a shirt on, there was no reason to still be complaining about it. If the top got ripped that was no fault of his own. If he wanted him covered up then he'll need to buy him stuff, it wasn't his fault he came from his universe with nothing.
He shivered again as he caught the scent of the fear again. He tucked himself closer to Wade, taking a deeper breath of the man's scent. "We need to leave," Logan muttered, feeling how weak he felt.
Wade scanned the room, there was too much that seemed to be setting the other off in the warehouse. "Yeah, let's get your mask and wait for Peter outside," Wade offered, hearing Logan grunt in agreement.
Logan got to his feet carefully, plastering himself to Wade, almost leaning his full weight on the man. He ached in a way he hasn't in years, stomach doing flips. He stumbled along as the man found his mask, holding it in his hands as he was guided out of the room.
Wade glanced at the man carefully, seeing how pale he looked. He never thought Logan could get to this state, so wobbly on his feet he needed support. But then he never realised just what the drinking hid.
Logan only opened his eyes as he was guided to sit down. He glanced around, noticing the dark skies filled with stars. His mask was loose in his hand as he leaned against Wade focusing on keeping his breath even.
At least out here there was enough life that he could attempt to block out the fear, focusing more on his other senses. The night was filled with life where they were, the stars bright in the sky. Night was never really quiet unless something was wrong and the current noise level helped relax him.
Wade was thankful for how calm Logan had gotten, almost asleep with his nose dug into his neck, when Peter arrived. The slightly more peaceful Wolverine was easier to dress in an overly large coat. They kept the collar tucked more up towards his nose, hoping it would keep him calm as Wade got dressed.
Logan grumbled, opening his eyes as he felt Wade move away from him. He could feel a jacket thrown over him, still tight but it didn't seem to be ripping. And it smelt like Wade, helping block the fear from the building. He watched as Wade fought himself in clothes as Peter hovered off to the side by the car.
"Ah, Wolvie is awake!" Wade grinned, fighting on the top. "Enjoy the nap?"
Logan growled as he got to his feet, he wasn't asleep. His legs still felt weak under him, enough that Wade jumped to his side to support him.
Wade quickly jumped to the side and braced himself against Logan as the man wobbled on his feet. He was more worried when he didn't pull away and only growled at him.
Logan growled but let himself be manhandled into the back of the car. His body felt weak, his chest still aching. And tucked up against Wade again Logan felt the jitteriness of his claws calm down as black slowly creeped across his vision.
-----
Logan blinked his eyes open as they neared their apartment, squinting his eyes as he tried to figure out where he'd closed his eyes long enough to travel such a distance.
He continued to lean against Wade as they got closer to the building, hearing him thanking Peter again for giving them a lift. He grumbled as Wade shook his shoulder.
"Come on, Peanut, up you get," Wade said, trying to carefully shake the man awake. "I'll get you something to drink before you fall asleep again," he offered as Peter shut the engine.
"We got no milk, Bub," Logan grumbled.
Peter sighed before starting back up the car.
