Chapter Text

The small apartment felt even smaller as Sunoo worked tirelessly to organize their new life. It was a far cry from the spacious home he once shared with his partner, and the reality of their situation settled heavily on his shoulders. The walls, freshly painted in neutral tones, were still bare, and the furniture, while functional, seemed to lack the warmth and familiarity of their old home. Sunoo moved with a mix of determination and melancholy, his hands working tirelessly while his mind remained trapped in a storm of anxiety and sorrow.

Sunoo paused to take in the room he had just finished arranging. The living area was beginning to take shape with a small sofa, a modest dining table, and a few boxes yet to be unpacked. Every item he unpacked seemed to carry the weight of his past life, and each piece of furniture he placed felt like a small step toward rebuilding a semblance of normalcy. Despite his efforts, the apartment felt cold and unfamiliar, a stark contrast to the warmth and comfort of the home he had lost.

He moved to the bedroom, where a single crib stood in the corner. Sunjin's tiny clothes were neatly folded on a small dresser, but the room still felt incomplete. Sunoo had chosen soft, calming colors for the nursery, hoping they would provide some comfort in their new environment. As he unpacked the last of Sunjin's baby toys, he found himself struggling to hold back tears. The sight of Sunjin's tiny, innocent belongings, now devoid of his boyfriend's presence, was a constant reminder of what they had lost.

The task of unpacking and arranging the apartment provided a temporary distraction from the pressing issues weighing on Sunoo's mind. He worried incessantly about their future. Without having completed his education and with his status as an omega, finding stable employment seemed like an insurmountable challenge. He had always been shy and reserved, traits that now felt like liabilities in his search for work. The thought of facing potential rejection or prejudice because of his background and status was daunting.

His worries extended beyond just finding a job. Sunoo often found himself consumed by the question of how he would balance work with taking care of Sunjin. The responsibility of being a single parent was overwhelming, and he feared that any job he could secure would barely cover their expenses, let alone provide any comfort or security. The financial strain of their situation added to his already heavy emotional burden.

As the afternoon turned into evening, Sunoo took a brief respite, sitting down on the edge of the bed. His hands rested in his lap, and he stared blankly at the floor, lost in thought. The silence of the apartment was punctuated only by the distant sounds of the city outside-horns honking, people talking, the hum of passing cars. The familiar sounds of life outside felt distant, a world away from his personal struggles.

He sighed deeply and stood up, determined to push through his emotional exhaustion. Sunoo knew that he had to keep moving forward, for Sunjin's sake if not his own. He glanced at the clock and realized it was time to check on his son. With heavy steps, he walked to the small crib in the bedroom.

Sunjin lay peacefully asleep, wrapped snugly in a soft blanket. The baby's tiny chest rose and fell rhythmically, a small beacon of tranquility in the midst of Sunoo's chaos. Sunoo's heart ached as he watched his son. The sight of Sunjin's peaceful slumber was both a comfort and a reminder of the gaping hole left by his partner's absence.

He reached out to gently brush a lock of hair from Sunjin's forehead, a tender gesture filled with both love and grief. Sunoo's heart was heavy with the burden of his loss. The sweet, nostalgic scent of bubblegum, once a symbol of his care and affection, now felt tainted by his stress and sadness. The fragrance, which should have been comforting, now carried an undertone of sourness, reflecting the emotional turmoil he struggled to keep in check.

As he continued to watch over Sunjin, Sunoo's tears began to flow freely. The grief was overwhelming, and he found himself unable to contain the sobs that shook his body. The tears seemed endless, a physical manifestation of the deep ache in his heart. Each cry from Sunjin felt like a painful reminder of his boyfriend's absence, amplifying the sense of loss and helplessness that had become a constant companion.

Sunoo's attempts to soothe Sunjin were often fraught with his own emotional turmoil. There were moments when the baby's cries would trigger a sense of inadequacy and frustration, exacerbating Sunoo's feelings of helplessness. The once-sweet scent of bubblegum now seemed to carry the weight of his struggles, a reflection of the stress and sadness he could not escape.

Eventually, exhaustion took its toll. Sunoo's cries subsided into quiet sobs as fatigue overwhelmed him. He found himself sinking to the floor beside the crib, his body feeling as heavy as his heart. With his head resting against the edge of the crib, Sunoo's eyes grew heavy, and he gradually drifted into a fitful sleep. The room, now dimly lit by the soft glow of a nearby lamp, was silent except for the gentle, rhythmic sounds of Sunjin's breathing.

In his troubled sleep, Sunoo's dreams were a mix of fragmented memories and haunting uncertainties. He dreamt of happier times with his boyfriend, moments filled with laughter and love, only to be jolted awake by the harsh reality of their current situation. The dreams offered no respite from his grief, only a glimpse into a past that seemed increasingly distant.

The night wore on, and the small apartment remained quiet, the only sounds being the faint hum of the refrigerator and the occasional rustle of Sunjin's blankets. In the stillness, Sunoo's sleep was restless, marked by the weight of his sorrow and the daunting unknowns of the future.

As the first light of dawn began to creep through the window, Sunoo stirred, his sleep disturbed by the persistent ache in his heart. He woke to find himself still beside Sunjin's crib, the baby's peaceful presence a small comfort amidst the chaos of his emotions. The day ahead loomed large with uncertainties, but for now, Sunoo allowed himself a moment of solace, holding on to the hope that somehow, they would find their way through the darkness.

Chapter 2: Unexpected

Chapter Text

The steady, rhythmic knocking on the door jolted Sunoo from a restless sleep. He blinked groggily, trying to make sense of the sound that had intruded on his dreams. The early morning light filtered through the thin curtains, casting a soft glow across the room. Sunoo glanced over at the crib where Sunjin lay, his tiny form nestled under a soft blanket. The baby's rhythmic breathing was a comforting reminder of the small, precious life Sunoo was responsible for.

Sunoo sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes and trying to shake off the remnants of sleep. The knocking continued, more insistent now. He hesitated for a moment, his heart racing with a mix of anxiety and curiosity. They had only recently moved into this apartment, and the unfamiliarity of their new surroundings left him on edge. The idea of dealing with a stranger at the door was unsettling, especially given his recent struggles.

He took a deep breath to steady himself, glancing once more at Sunjin. The baby was still sound asleep, his tiny chest rising and falling with each peaceful breath. Sunoo's protective instincts kicked in as he carefully slipped out of bed, trying not to disturb his son. He padded softly across the room, his footsteps light and cautious.

As Sunoo approached the door, the knocking paused momentarily, but resumed with a softer, more tentative rhythm. He grasped the doorknob, his hand trembling slightly, and took another deep breath. Slowly, he turned the knob and peeked through the small gap. The hallway outside was dimly lit, and the figure standing there was partially obscured by the shadows.

The man outside was an alpha, tall and fair-skinned, with a commanding presence that was tempered by a friendly and approachable demeanor. His smile was warm and inviting, a stark contrast to Sunoo's own sense of unease. The man's appearance, though striking, was overshadowed by Sunoo's anxiety about the unfamiliar situation.

When the man saw Sunoo peeking through the door, his smile broadened, and he stepped forward slightly. "Hello there!" he called out with a cheerful, clear voice that seemed to cut through the tension. "I'm your neighbor. I don't think we've had a chance to meet yet. I've been living here for a while, but it's the first time I've had someone move in next door."

Sunoo regarded the man with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. His gaze dropped to the man's outstretched hand, which held a small box of cookies. The box was neatly wrapped and tied with a ribbon, the gesture clearly meant to be welcoming. Sunoo's instinct was to be cautious, and he hesitated, unsure of how to respond.

The man seemed to sense Sunoo's hesitation and continued speaking in a soothing tone. "These are just a little welcome gift. I made them myself. Don't worry, they're clean and unadulterated." He held the box out, his smile unwavering, trying to put Sunoo at ease.

Sunoo's eyes flickered between the man and the box of cookies. His past experiences had made him cautious about sudden kindness from strangers. The offer was genuine, but the unfamiliarity of the situation made him wary. He took a step back, his hand hovering near the doorknob as he weighed his options.

The man's smile remained patient and encouraging. "I understand if you're unsure. It's not every day that someone new moves in. But I assure you, these cookies are just a small gesture to help you feel at home."

Sunoo's internal struggle was evident. He wanted to accept the man's kindness, but the weight of his recent struggles and the uncertainty of their new situation made him wary. After a moment of hesitation, he slowly reached out and took the box from the man's hand. His fingers brushed against the man's hand, and he could feel the warmth of the stranger's touch-a stark contrast to his own cold apprehension.

The man's eyes twinkled with genuine warmth as he gave a small nod. "Well, I'll leave you to it. If you need anything or have any questions, don't hesitate to knock on my door. I'm just down the hall."

Sunoo managed a quiet, "Thank you," his voice barely above a whisper. The man gave a final, friendly wave before turning and walking down the hallway. Sunoo watched him go, his mind still buzzing with a mix of gratitude and unease.

Once the door was closed, Sunoo exhaled deeply, the tension in his shoulders slowly easing. He turned back to the kitchen, where the box of cookies sat on the counter. The man's unexpected visit had left him feeling disoriented, and he struggled to process the gesture. He was still adjusting to their new home, and the kindness of a stranger was both a comfort and a reminder of how much had changed.

With a sigh, Sunoo set about making a cup of tea. The familiar routine of preparing the tea was a small comfort, a momentary escape from the whirlwind of emotions he was experiencing. He glanced occasionally at the box of cookies, contemplating whether he should try one. The man's kindness was genuine, but the uncertainty of their situation made him hesitant.

As the tea brewed, Sunoo's thoughts wandered. He reflected on the encounter with his new neighbor, wondering if this was a sign of things to come. The man's friendly demeanor had been a small, unexpected light in the midst of his recent struggles. Sunoo couldn't help but wonder if it was a fleeting kindness or the start of something more meaningful.

He decided to set the cookies aside for now, placing them in a cupboard where they would be safe but out of immediate sight. He didn't want to judge the gesture too quickly but needed time to process it. As he finished preparing his tea, he felt a sudden wave of exhaustion. The stress of the move, the loss of his boyfriend, and the pressures of starting anew had taken a toll on him.

With a heavy heart, Sunoo returned to the bedroom to check on Sunjin. The baby remained peacefully asleep, his tiny form a comforting presence amidst Sunoo's turmoil. He stood by the crib for a moment, watching Sunjin's serene face and feeling a surge of love and protectiveness. The sight of his son's peaceful slumber was a small but powerful reminder of why he needed to keep moving forward.

As the night settled in, Sunoo curled up on the sofa with his tea. The warmth of the drink offered a fleeting comfort, and he allowed himself a moment of calm. The apartment, though still new and unfamiliar, was beginning to feel like a place where he might slowly find his footing. The visit from the friendly neighbor was a small, unexpected gesture, but it was a reminder that even in the midst of uncertainty, there were glimpses of kindness and support to be found.

Sunoo's thoughts lingered on the day's events as he sipped his tea, the peaceful quiet of the apartment wrapping around him like a fragile cocoon. The road ahead was undoubtedly challenging, but for now, he held on to the hope that perhaps, with time, things might start to feel a little more like home.

Chapter 3: Scent

Chapter Text

The soft hum of morning sunlight filtered through the thin curtains, casting a gentle glow across the small apartment. Sunoo stirred from a fitful sleep, his mind immediately flooding with the myriad responsibilities that awaited him. The last week had been a whirlwind of new experiences and adjustments, and each day seemed to blend into the next. Sunoo found solace in the routine, but the weight of his new reality was a constant presence.

He glanced over at the crib where Sunjin lay, the baby's tiny form nestled under a cozy blanket. Sunjin's peaceful breathing was a comforting reminder of the love that bound them together. Sunoo's heart ached as he thought of his boyfriend, whose absence was felt more acutely each day. The scent of his boyfriend's old hoodie, now a faint echo of fresh coffee, provided a bittersweet reminder of the life they once shared.

After a quick breakfast, Sunoo set about preparing for their grocery trip. He checked Sunjin's diaper bag to ensure it was fully stocked with essentials-diapers, wipes, a bottle of formula, and a spare blanket. Once satisfied, he gently lifted Sunjin from the crib, careful not to disturb the baby's slumber. He adjusted the carrier on his chest, settling Sunjin in with practiced ease.

Dressed in his boyfriend's old hoodie and a pair of sweatpants, Sunoo felt a mixture of comfort and sadness. The hoodie, though worn and slightly oversized, was a tangible connection to his partner. As he slipped it on, he took a moment to inhale deeply, hoping to catch the lingering scent of his boyfriend s fresh coffee. The familiar aroma brought both comfort and sorrow, a reminder of the love that had once been and the absence that now lingered.

Sunoo decided to walk to the grocery store, which was conveniently close to their apartment. The crisp morning air felt refreshing, a brief respite from the emotional weight he carried. As he made his way down the street, he focused on the task at hand, trying to push aside the lingering doubts and anxieties that plagued him.

The grocery store was a small, local shop that offered a limited selection but was sufficient for their needs. Sunoo navigated the aisles with practiced efficiency, selecting only the essentials. His shopping list was modest: a few staples like bread, milk, and vegetables, along with some baby formula and diapers. Every choice was made with careful consideration, aimed at stretching their limited budget as far as possible.

Despite the store's modest size, Sunoo felt overwhelmed by the variety of choices and the challenge of staying within his tight budget. He moved quickly, trying to avoid drawing attention to himself. The strain of carrying both Sunjin and the grocery basket began to weigh on him, and he shifted the basket between his hands to alleviate the discomfort.

As he made his way to the checkout, Sunoo felt a sudden jolt of surprise when a voice broke through his thoughts. "Let me help you with that."

Startled, Sunoo turned to see the man from the other day-the same neighbor who had brought him the box of cookies. The man's friendly demeanor and easy smile contrasted sharply with Sunoo's internal turmoil. Sunoo's initial reaction was one of surprise and apprehension.

The neighbor approached with a warm, open smile. "I didn't expect to see you here. I actually work at this store," he said, reaching out to take the basket from Sunoo's hands. Sunoo felt a mix of gratitude and discomfort as the neighbor's touch replaced the weight of the basket.

As the neighbor glanced down at Sunjin, his expression softened. "Is he your son? I didn't realize you had a child. He's adorable," the neighbor said, his tone genuine but carrying an undertone that made Sunoo uneasy. The comment, though intended as a compliment, felt invasive. Sunoo's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and he shifted uncomfortably.

The moment of awkwardness stretched between them, and Sunoo's discomfort grew. He quickly took the basket back from the neighbor, mumbling a quiet "Thank you" as he hurried to the checkout counter. The neighbor's eyes followed him with a hint of curiosity, but he remained silent, offering only a polite nod.

As Sunoo paid the cashier and gathered his bags, he felt a wave of self-consciousness wash over him. The encounter with the neighbor had triggered a cascade of insecurities. Sunoo worried about how others might perceive him-a young omega with a child, struggling to manage on his own. The fear of judgment and scrutiny loomed large in his mind, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being judged for his circumstances.

With Sunjin securely in his carrier and the grocery bags in hand, Sunoo made his way out of the store. The short walk back to the apartment felt longer than usual, each step weighed down by his thoughts. He tried to focus on Sunjin, whose quiet presence was a source of comfort amidst his growing anxiety.

As he approached the apartment building, Sunoo's mind was consumed by worries about the future. The brief but unsettling encounter with the neighbor had only added to his sense of uncertainty. He hoped that his new life would eventually settle into a routine, but for now, the challenges seemed overwhelming.

Once inside the apartment, Sunoo carefully unloaded the groceries and put them away. The familiar tasks of organizing the kitchen and arranging the supplies provided a small measure of solace. He found comfort in the routine, a momentary escape from the emotional weight of the day.

He checked on Sunjin, who was still peacefully nestled in his carrier. The sight of his son's serene face was a balm for his troubled heart. Sunoo gently lifted Sunjin from the carrier and placed him in the crib, making sure he was comfortable and content.

As evening approached, Sunoo sat down with a cup of tea, trying to calm his racing thoughts. The apartment, though small and modest, was beginning to feel like home. The day's events had left him feeling vulnerable and self-conscious, but the quiet moments with Sunjin offered a fleeting sense of peace.

Sunoo reflected on the encounter with the neighbor. The man's kindness, though well-intentioned, had stirred up feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. Sunoo wondered if he was overreacting or if his fears were justified. The weight of his new reality pressed heavily on him, and the fear of judgment from others was a constant shadow.

As he finished his tea and prepared for bed, Sunoo took a moment to gather his thoughts. The apartment was quiet, and the soothing hum of the heater provided a gentle background to his reflections. Sunjin was asleep, his tiny form nestled under a soft blanket.

Sunoo resolved to focus on the positive aspects of their new life. Despite the challenges, he had made it through another day. The small victories, like successfully navigating the grocery store and ensuring Sunjin's needs were met, were steps toward creating a stable environment for them both.

With a deep breath, Sunoo settled into bed, the weight of the day slowly easing from his shoulders. He closed his eyes, allowing himself a moment of respite from the worries that had consumed him. The future remained uncertain, but for now, he held onto the hope that each day would bring a bit more clarity and a little less fear.

As he drifted off to sleep, Sunoo clung to the belief that despite the difficulties, he and Sunjin would find their way. The apartment, though still new and unfamiliar, was their home, and he was determined to make the best of their situation. With the gentle hum of the apartment surrounding him and the warmth of Sunjin's presence beside him, Sunoo closed his eyes, ready to face whatever the next day would bring.

Chapter 4: Desperate

Chapter Text

The pale light of dawn seeped through the curtains of the small apartment, casting faint shadows on the walls. Sunoo stirred awake, his sleep disrupted by the piercing cries of his infant son, Sunjin. The cries were more urgent and persistent than usual, filling the otherwise quiet morning with a sense of unease. Sunoo’s heart raced as he shook off the remnants of sleep and immediately moved to the crib where Sunjin lay.

Sunoo reached into the crib and lifted Sunjin gently into his arms. The moment he touched his son, a wave of worry crashed over him. Sunjin’s small body felt unnaturally hot, his forehead burning with the unmistakable heat of a high fever. Sunoo’s breath caught in his throat as he examined Sunjin’s flushed face, his heart pounding with panic.

This was the first time Sunjin had been so unwell, and Sunoo felt a rising sense of dread. He had never encountered a situation like this before, and the unfamiliarity of their new surroundings only heightened his anxiety. They had only recently moved to the area, and Sunoo had yet to familiarize himself with local resources. He had no idea where the nearest hospital was or how to get there quickly.

His thoughts raced as he struggled to stay calm. Sunjin’s cries grew more intense, and Sunoo felt a desperate urge to do something—anything—to help his son. The memories of the previous days, filled with moving boxes and settling into their new home, seemed to blur as he focused solely on the immediate crisis.

In his panic, Sunoo remembered the neighbor’s offer of help. When they had first met, the man had mentioned that Sunoo could knock on his door if he ever needed anything. At the time, Sunoo had felt a bit awkward about accepting such a generous offer, but now, it seemed like the only viable option.

Determined to seek help, Sunoo placed Sunjin carefully back into the crib, trying to make him as comfortable as possible. He grabbed his phone, a small amount of cash, and a few essentials—diapers, wipes, and a bottle. He glanced back at Sunjin, who continued to whimper softly, his tiny face contorted with discomfort. The sight of his son’s suffering drove Sunoo to act quickly.

He took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves, and headed for the door. His steps were quick but cautious as he made his way down the hallway to the neighbor’s apartment. His mind was a whirlwind of anxiety, and he hoped with all his heart that the neighbor would be willing and able to help.

Sunoo raised his hand and knocked gently at first, but as time ticked by without any response, he knocked more insistently. Each knock felt like a plea for help, echoing in the quiet corridor. When there was still no answer, his hope began to falter. He was about to turn back to his own apartment when he heard the faint sound of the neighbor’s door creaking open.

The neighbor appeared in the doorway, looking groggy and disheveled. His hair was tousled, and he rubbed sleep from his eyes, clearly startled by the early disturbance. The surprise on his face was evident as he took in Sunoo’s anxious expression and the baby carrier he was holding.

The neighbor’s expression shifted from confusion to concern as he took in Sunoo’s distressed appearance and the baby carrier. “I didn’t expect you to come to me,” he said, his voice still thick with sleep. “Is everything okay? What’s happening?”

Sunoo felt a lump form in his throat, his voice cracking under the strain of his worry. “My son is burning up with a fever. I don’t know what to do or where to go. Can you help me find a hospital nearby?”

The neighbor’s eyes widened with understanding, and he quickly retreated back into his apartment. Sunoo watched with a mixture of relief and impatience as the man disappeared from view. Moments later, the neighbor reappeared, now dressed in casual clothes, his face set with determination.

“Let me grab my keys,” the neighbor said, his tone more alert and reassuring. “I’ll go with you.”

Sunoo was taken aback by the neighbor’s prompt response but felt a surge of gratitude. “Thank you,” he said, his voice choked with emotion. “I really appreciate your help.”

Together, they hurried back to Sunoo’s apartment. Sunoo adjusted Sunjin in the baby carrier, trying to keep him as comfortable as possible despite his fever. The neighbor walked closely beside him, providing a steady presence that helped to calm Sunoo’s frayed nerves.

As they stepped outside, the crisp morning air was a sharp contrast to the feverish heat radiating from Sunjin’s tiny body. Sunoo quickened his pace, guided by the neighbor’s calm and steady demeanor. The streets were eerily quiet, the usual sounds of the city still hidden beneath the early morning stillness. The hospital, a modest building with a clean and professional exterior, soon came into view.

The neighbor led them to the entrance, where Sunoo was greeted by a friendly nurse at the reception desk. The nurse’s face shifted to one of immediate concern as she took in Sunjin’s condition and directed them to an examination room. The efficient handling of the situation by the hospital staff provided a small measure of reassurance amidst the chaos.

Sunoo sat in the examination room, his heart racing as he clung to Sunjin, trying to soothe him as best as he could. The neighbor stayed by Sunoo’s side, offering quiet words of comfort. “You’re doing great,” he said softly. “The doctors will be here soon, and they’ll take good care of him.”

Sunoo nodded, tears welling in his eyes. “Thank you,” he said, his voice thick with emotion.

The doctor arrived shortly, his demeanor calm and professional. He began examining Sunjin with skilled precision, asking questions about the baby’s symptoms and medical history. Sunoo provided as much information as he could, his voice trembling as he recounted Sunjin’s recent condition. The neighbor’s reassuring presence remained a constant source of comfort throughout the examination.

As the doctor worked, Sunoo’s mind was a whirlwind of worry and gratitude. The neighbor’s timely assistance had made a significant difference in this critical moment. Sunoo couldn’t help but reflect on the kindness of a stranger who had become a lifeline during his time of need.

After a thorough examination, the doctor reassured Sunoo that Sunjin’s fever was likely due to a common infection and was not immediately life-threatening. He prescribed medication to reduce the fever and advised Sunoo on how to monitor Sunjin’s condition at home. Sunoo’s relief was palpable, though he knew there would be more challenges ahead.

As they left the hospital, Sunoo felt a profound sense of gratitude towards the neighbor. The man’s unexpected support had provided both practical help and emotional solace during one of the most stressful moments of Sunoo’s life. Sunoo knew that he would never forget the kindness shown by someone who had gone out of their way to help a stranger in need.

Sunoo is now returning to his apartment, Sunjin now resting more comfortably. The neighbor’s support had been a crucial part of their journey, offering not just physical assistance but also a sense of community and hope. As Sunoo looked at Sunjin, he felt a renewed sense of determination to face the challenges ahead, bolstered by the kindness and generosity that had come into his life during a time of crisis.

Chapter 5: Friends

Chapter Text

Sunoo walked through the dimly lit corridor of his apartment building, his steps measured and careful. Sunjin was nestled securely in his arms, his tiny body feeling warm and heavier than usual. The distress of the morning hung heavily in the air between them, a palpable tension that seemed to seep into every corner of their new home. Sunoo’s thoughts were a turbulent mix of anxiety and hope, each step toward his apartment door a step closer to relief.

The man who had helped him walked silently beside him, his presence a quiet, reassuring anchor amidst Sunoo’s storm of emotions. They moved in a shared silence, the weight of the morning’s events creating a solemn atmosphere that neither seemed willing to break. The occasional glance from Sunoo or the soft shuffle of the man’s footsteps was the only indication that either was processing the events of the morning.

As they approached Sunoo’s door, the soft morning light filtered through the hallway, casting a gentle glow that seemed to promise a semblance of normalcy. Sunoo glanced at the clock on the wall inside his apartment, noting with a jolt that it was now almost 10 a.m. The realization struck him that it had been a full four hours since he had first knocked on the man’s door at 6 a.m., and the enormity of the situation began to weigh heavily on him.

Sunoo turned to face his helper, feeling a mix of gratitude and apprehension. The man’s kindness had been a beacon of support in an otherwise overwhelming morning, and Sunoo felt a deep sense of indebtedness. “Thank you,” Sunoo said, his voice trembling slightly as he spoke. “I really don’t know what I would have done without your help.”

The man, who had been walking with a calm, composed demeanor, offered a warm, genuine smile. “It’s no trouble at all,” he said, his tone soothing and reassuring. “I’m just glad I could help. If you need anything else, don’t hesitate to let me know.”

Sunoo nodded, feeling a bit more at ease with the man’s words. As he fumbled with his keys, trying to unlock the door, the man spoke again, his voice cutting through the stillness.

“Oh, I realize I never properly introduced myself,” the man said, his tone friendly and open. “My name is Sunghoon, and I’m an alpha. I live just next door. I hope you’ll feel comfortable around me. I’m always here if you need anything.”

Sunoo looked up, slightly surprised by the sudden introduction. He hadn’t expected this level of openness, but it was a welcome change from the earlier chaos. The warmth and sincerity in Sunghoon’s voice made Sunoo feel a bit more reassured amidst the turmoil of the morning.

Sunghoon extended his hand toward Sunoo in a gesture of friendship. Sunoo hesitated for a moment, his mind racing with thoughts of the morning’s events and the emotional turmoil he had experienced. He glanced at Sunghoon’s outstretched hand and then at his kind, reassuring face. Despite his initial hesitation, he reached out and shook Sunghoon’s hand firmly.

“I’m Sunoo,” he said, his voice gaining strength as he spoke. “And this is Sunjin, my son.”

They stood there for a moment, their hands clasped in a handshake, exchanging a look that spoke of mutual understanding and empathy. Sunoo felt a strange but comforting connection as they made this small but significant step towards establishing a new relationship in the midst of his life’s upheaval.

As they stared at each other, Sunoo suddenly remembered that he needed to get Sunjin settled and himself prepared for the day. “Sunjin needs to rest now," he said, breaking the silence.

Sunghoon nodded in understanding, stepping back to give Sunoo some space. “Of course. It was really nice meeting you both,” he said, his voice carrying a note of genuine warmth.

As Sunoo began to close the door, Sunghoon called out once more, his voice carrying a hopeful tone. “I really hope we can become friends. It’s always nice to have someone to rely on, especially in a new place.”

Sunoo turned back to look at Sunghoon, who was standing a few feet away, his hopeful expression lit by the soft morning light. Despite the exhaustion and emotional strain of the morning, Sunoo felt a small spark of warmth. He gave a hesitant smile and nodded.

Sunghoon’s smile widened, and he gave a friendly wave as he began to walk away. “Goodbye for now, Sunoo. Take care of yourself and Sunjin. I’ll be around if you need anything.”

As Sunghoon walked down the hallway, Sunoo watched him go, feeling a mix of relief and gratitude. The encounter had been unexpected but profoundly comforting. It was a small step towards building a new connection in a place that had otherwise felt overwhelming and isolating.

Sunoo closed the door behind him and leaned against it for a moment, taking a deep breath. Inside, Sunjin was still peacefully asleep, and Sunoo felt a renewed sense of hope. The day had begun with fear and confusion, but it had ended with the promise of new beginnings and the potential for new friendships.

Sunoo set Sunjin gently in his crib and took a moment to gather himself. The soft glow of the morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm and comforting light over the room. Sunoo quickly changed into more comfortable clothes, feeling the exhaustion of the morning weigh heavily on him.

He moved through the apartment with a sense of purpose, tidying up and making sure Sunjin had everything he needed. The simple routine of preparing for the day helped ground him, and he found comfort in the small, familiar tasks.

As he made a cup of tea and prepared a light breakfast, his thoughts kept drifting back to Sunghoon. The man’s kindness had been a beacon of hope in an otherwise dark morning. Sunoo wondered what kind of person Sunghoon was beyond the initial encounter. He hoped they could indeed become friends, as Sunghoon had suggested. The idea of having a friendly face nearby was a comforting thought.

The morning passed in a blur of routine tasks and quiet contemplation. Sunoo felt a renewed sense of determination as he faced the day. The challenges of the new environment and the lingering pain of his recent loss still weighed heavily on him, but the kindness of a stranger had given him a glimmer of hope.

As Sunoo looked around his small apartment, he felt a mixture of apprehension and optimism. This new chapter in his life was fraught with challenges, but it was also filled with possibilities. The promise of a new friendship and the support of a kind neighbor had offered a small but significant ray of light in the midst of his uncertainty.

He knew that the road ahead would not be easy, but for the first time in a while, he felt a small, hopeful spark. With Sunjin safely asleep and the promise of new beginnings on the horizon, Sunoo took a deep breath and prepared to face the day with renewed strength and hope.

Chapter 6: Past

Chapter Text

The city streets were still shrouded in darkness as Sunoo stumbled forward, each step heavy with the weight of his distress. His breath came out in ragged bursts, the cold air biting at his cheeks, but the chill was nothing compared to the turmoil seething within him.

Tears streamed down his face, mingling with the rain that had begun to fall, though he barely noticed. His mind was consumed with a single, overwhelming thought: how would he face this new reality?

At seventeen, the world seemed impossibly vast and unforgiving, especially now. Sunoo had never imagined that he would find himself in such a predicament—pregnant, and with no clear path forward. The weight of the unborn child inside him was both a literal and metaphorical burden, pressing down on his shoulders with each passing second. The whispers of judgment he feared from his family, the uncertainty of his future, and the overwhelming sense of isolation were all-consuming.

His feet carried him almost on autopilot to his boyfriend’s condo, a place that had once been his sanctuary. The luxurious building, with its polished marble floors and imposing glass facade, now seemed like a beacon of hope in the midst of his personal storm. As he approached the entrance, his heart pounded with a mixture of anxiety and desperation. He knew he had to find solace here, even though the thought of facing his boyfriend in such a state made him feel vulnerable and exposed.

The doorman at the building's entrance greeted him with a nod of recognition, his warm smile a stark contrast to Sunoo’s own frigid demeanor. He offered no words of comfort, perhaps sensing the gravity of Sunoo’s situation, but his silent acknowledgment was a small, comforting gesture. As Sunoo entered, he noticed that the familiar lobby, with its plush seating and soft lighting, seemed almost alien to him today.

The elevator ride to his boyfriend’s floor felt interminable. Sunoo’s hands trembled as he pressed the button for the correct floor, his mind racing with a million thoughts and fears. The ding of the elevator doors opening felt hollow, and the usually reassuring sound of his footsteps in the hallway now seemed to echo his growing sense of dread.

When he finally reached his boyfriend's door, Sunoo’s resolve wavered. The idea of confronting his boyfriend with this news, of showing him the raw and painful reality he faced, was daunting. His hand hovered over the doorbell, the cold metal pressing into his skin as he gathered the courage to ring it. With a deep breath, he finally pressed the button, the sound echoing through the corridor.

The minutes ticked by slowly, each one stretching into an eternity. Sunoo’s tears had begun to dry on his cheeks, leaving streaks of salt and pain. Just as he was about to turn away, feeling a crushing sense of defeat, the door creaked open.

Jake, his boyfriend. Stood in the doorway, looking disheveled and surprised. The sight of Sunoo, drenched and tear-streaked, made his heart skip a beat. He took in Sunoo’s appearance, his concern quickly overshadowing his initial confusion. Without a word, he stepped aside, silently inviting Sunoo into the warmth and safety of his home.

As Sunoo stepped inside, the familiar scent of Jake’s condo—a mix of fresh coffee, cedar, and a hint of something uniquely of his boyfriend—enveloped him. It was a comforting reminder of better times, and for a brief moment, he felt a pang of nostalgia. The cozy ambiance of the condo, with its soft lighting and warm colors, contrasted sharply with his inner turmoil.

Jake guided Sunoo to the kitchen, his movements quick and purposeful as he tried to make sense of the situation. Sunoo sank into a chair at the kitchen table, feeling utterly drained. Jake, always so composed, was now visibly rattled. He looked at Sunoo with a mixture of concern and confusion.

“Sunoo, what’s going on?” Jake asked, his voice a blend of worry and confusion. “Are you... Are you crying? Is something wrong?"

Sunoo could only respond with more tears, his body shaking as he struggled to find the words. The weight of the moment was too heavy, too overwhelming. He found himself unable to articulate his fears, his pain, or his uncertainty. The kitchen, once a place of simple comforts, felt like a stage for an emotional confrontation.

Jake moved closer, his eyes softening with empathy. He placed a hand gently on Sunoo’s shoulder, trying to offer some semblance of comfort. “Hey, it’s okay. Just take a deep breath and tell me what’s wrong.” Sunoo’s breath hitched as he tried to compose himself. The quiet of the kitchen seemed almost deafening as he gathered his courage. “I… I’m pregnant,” he finally managed to say, his voice trembling as he uttered the words that had been weighing on him.

The confession was met with stunned silence. Jake’s eyes widened in shock, his mind racing to process the gravity of what Sunoo had just revealed. The initial shock left him momentarily paralyzed, his usual confidence and composure momentarily faltering. He stood there, frozen, as the reality of the situation sank in.

Sunoo, feeling the weight of Jake’s silence, began to panic. He feared that Jake’s reaction would be one of rejection, anger, or disapproval. The vulnerability he felt was almost unbearable, and he braced himself for the worst.

But then, something unexpected happened. Jake’s expression softened, and he took a step forward, closing the distance between them. His eyes were filled with tears, and without saying a word, he wrapped Sunoo in a tight embrace. The gesture was both comforting and overwhelming, a physical manifestation of the support and love he felt for Sunoo.

“I love you,” Jake whispered into Sunoo’s ear, his voice cracking with emotion. The words were simple yet profound, and they resonated deeply within Sunoo’s heart. The embrace was warm and enveloping, offering a sense of safety and reassurance that Sunoo desperately needed.

Sunoo’s tears flowed freely, mingling with Jake’s as he was held close. The intensity of his sobs seemed to ease slightly as the comfort of Jake’s presence began to take hold. The fear that had been his constant companion started to recede, replaced by a fragile glimmer of hope.

Jake pulled back slightly, his hands gently cupping Sunoo’s face as he looked into his tear-streaked eyes. “We’ll figure this out,” Jake said, his voice steady despite the tears. “We’re going to raise this baby together. We’ll make it work.”

The sincerity in Jake’s voice was a balm to Sunoo’s battered soul. The promise of support, of shared responsibility, was a lifeline in the midst of uncertainty. Sunoo, though still crying, managed a small, shaky smile. The resolve in Jake’s words was a source of comfort and strength.

Jake gently guided Sunoo towards the bedroom, his hand still resting reassuringly on his back. The bedroom, with its soft lighting and serene atmosphere, offered a stark contrast to the emotional storm that had raged in the kitchen. As they entered, Jake led Sunoo to the bed, encouraging him to sit down.

Sunoo sank onto the edge of the bed, his exhaustion and emotional strain making every movement feel like an effort. Jake, ever attentive, busied himself with preparing the space for Sunoo to rest. He retrieved a soft blanket from the closet, smoothing it out on the bed before turning his attention back to Sunoo.

As Jake approached, Sunoo looked up at him with tear-filled eyes, his heart aching with both relief and lingering anxiety. The vulnerability he had shown was met with unwavering compassion, and the warmth of Jake’s presence was a balm to his troubled soul.

Jake sat down beside Sunoo, his hand finding its way to Sunoo’s trembling ones. He held them gently, his touch a silent promise of support and love. The quiet of the room, punctuated only by the soft rustling of the blanket and the occasional sniffle, created an atmosphere of calm in the midst of emotional chaos.

“I’m here for you,” Jake said softly, his voice a soothing murmur. “Whatever happens, we’ll face it together. You’re not alone in this.”

Sunoo nodded, his emotions still raw but tempered by Jake’s steadfast support. The tension in his shoulders began to ease as he took comfort in Jake’s unwavering presence. The fears that had once seemed insurmountable now felt more manageable, buoyed by the strength of their shared commitment.

Jake’s hands moved to gently caress Sunoo’s face, his touch tender and reassuring. “Let’s take this one step at a time,” he suggested. “We don’t have to have all the answers right now. We just need to be there for each other.”

As the minutes ticked by, Sunoo felt a sense of calm slowly replacing the storm of emotions that had overwhelmed him. The gentle rhythm of Jake’s breathing, the soft warmth of the blanket, and the unwavering support in his eyes all contributed to a feeling of security that Sunoo had longed for.

Jake continued to hold Sunoo, his presence a steady anchor in the midst of uncertainty. The bedroom, once a place of solitude, now felt like a sanctuary of hope and reassurance. Together, they faced the challenges of their new reality, finding strength in their shared love and determination.

Sunoo awoke with a sudden jolt, his heart pounding in his chest. He was drenched in sweat, the remnants of a vivid dream still haunting his mind. The dream had been a bittersweet reminder of Jake’s presence—his laughter, his touch, the warmth of his embrace. Sunoo’s heart ached with an intensity that left him breathless, the dream a stark contrast to the harsh reality he faced each day. Jake was gone, and the emptiness left behind felt like an unending void.

He lay there in the dim light of his bedroom, the early morning hours casting a soft glow through the curtains. Sunoo’s gaze drifted to the small crib where Sunjin slept soundly, the baby’s gentle breathing a calming counterpoint to the turmoil within him. Sunoo reached out, gently brushing a stray lock of hair from Sunjin’s forehead. The sight of his son, so innocent and peaceful, was both a comfort and a source of deep sadness. The loss of Jake was a wound that had yet to heal, and the weight of it seemed to press down on him more heavily with each passing day.

Despite the comfort of Sunjin’s presence, Sunoo felt an overwhelming need to visit Jake’s grave. It had become a ritual for him to visit the cemetery three times a week, a practice that provided a semblance of connection with the love he had lost. This week, however, the pull was even stronger. The ache in his heart seemed to demand more than just routine; it yearned for the solace that only a visit to Jake’s resting place could provide.

Sunoo prepared for the visit with a sense of purpose. He dressed quickly, his movements almost mechanical as he arranged Sunjin’s things for their outing. Sunjin had just turned eight months old, and Sunoo was acutely aware of how quickly time was passing. The baby’s needs were simple but essential, and Sunoo made sure that everything was in order before leaving. He packed a small bag with essentials, including a bouquet of sunflowers—Jake’s favorite flowers. The bright yellow blooms were a symbol of the love and memories he carried with him.

As they left their apartment, Sunoo felt a mixture of anticipation and sadness. The city was waking up, the streets bustling with the usual morning activity. Sunoo carried Sunjin in a comfortable carrier, his son nestled close to him. The weight of Sunjin’s presence was a comforting reminder of the life they had built together, even in the midst of grief.

The walk to the cemetery was quiet, the only sounds the rhythmic patter of footsteps and the distant hum of traffic. Sunoo’s thoughts were a tangled web of memories and emotions. He recalled the times he had shared with Jake—their laughter, their dreams for the future. The contrast between those memories and the present reality was jarring. He found solace in the routine of visiting Jake’s grave, a way to hold on to the past while navigating the challenges of the present.

Upon arriving at the cemetery, Sunoo made his way to Jake’s grave with a sense of reverence. The sunflowers he had brought were a splash of color against the gray stone of the memorial. Sunoo gently placed the bouquet at the base of the grave, the vibrant yellow petals a symbol of the enduring love he had for Jake. He took a deep breath, the crisp air filling his lungs as he prepared to speak.

Sunoo settled himself on the grass next to the grave, carefully positioning Sunjin on his lap. The baby’s curious eyes wandered over the surroundings, his small fingers reaching out to explore the flowers. Sunoo’s heart ached as he looked at Sunjin, the sight of his son a poignant reminder of what had been lost. He began to speak, his voice trembling with emotion.

“Hello, Daddy Jae,” Sunoo said softly, his words carrying the weight of his grief. “It’s me. I hope you’re doing well, wherever you are.” He paused, struggling to keep his emotions in check. “Sunjin and I have settled into our new place. It’s been four months now, and we’re making it work. I found a job at the grocery store where my friend works. The people there are kind, and it’s been good for both of us.”

He glanced down at Sunjin, who was now holding one of the sunflowers, his tiny fingers gripping the stem. “Sunjin is growing so fast. He’s eight months old now. He’s learning and changing every day. I want you to know that I’m taking good care of him. I promise I’ll make sure he knows all about you. He’ll know about his daddy.”

Sunoo’s voice caught in his throat as he continued. “I hope he’ll remember you, Jake. I hope he’ll know the love you had for him, even though you’re not here with us. I’ll always tell him stories about you. He needs to know how special you were, and how much you meant to both of us.”

As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the cemetery, Sunoo felt a profound sense of both peace and sadness. The day was fading, and the cool evening air brought a crisp reminder of the passage of time. Sunoo held Sunjin close, the baby’s gentle sighs a soothing counterpoint to the grief he felt.

“Look, baby,” Sunoo said, his voice breaking. “This is Daddy Jae. I hope you’ll remember him when you grow up. He would be so happy to see you, and I want you to always know how much he loved you.” Tears streamed down his face as he spoke, the weight of his emotions almost too much to bear. “Daddy, Sunjin and I are going to head home now. It’s getting dark. I promise I’ll always visit you, and I’ll keep telling you stories about us. I love you so much.”

With a final, lingering glance at the grave, Sunoo gently lifted Sunjin into his arms and began the walk back to their apartment. The path home was bathed in the soft glow of streetlights, the warm light casting long shadows on the ground. Sunoo felt a steadying presence in the midst of his emotional turmoil. The promise of returning to the grave and the ongoing connection to Jake’s memory provided a sense of comfort, even if it was fleeting.

As they approached their apartment, Sunoo reflected on the life they were building. It was a life marked by challenges, but also by moments of hope and connection. Sunoo had found strength in the friendships he had formed and the small victories he achieved each day. The journey was far from over, but each step forward was a testament to his resilience and love.

The familiar comfort of their apartment welcomed them back. Sunoo carefully settled Sunjin into his crib, the baby’s soft sighs a soothing background to his thoughts. As he looked around their modest home, Sunoo felt a deep sense of gratitude for the support he had received from those around him. The echoes of the past would always be a part of their lives, but with each new day, Sunoo and Sunjin forged ahead, finding their way through the shadows with the promise of a brighter future.

Sunoo sat quietly in the dim light of their living room, his thoughts drifting back to Jake. The memory of their time together was a source of both joy and pain. But as he looked at Sunjin, he found solace in the present. The love he had for his son and the life they were building together gave him hope. And as the night settled over the city, Sunoo felt a sense of peace, knowing that while the past would always be with him, he and Sunjin were moving forward, finding their way through the darkness with the light of love guiding them.

Chapter Text

The morning sunlight filtered gently through the curtains as Sunoo prepared for a simple but essential task: finding breakfast for himself and Sunjin. The crisp air greeted him as he stepped out of his apartment, Sunjin securely nestled in the baby carrier strapped to his chest. The day promised to be busy, and starting it with a warm meal was a cherished routine that brought a sense of normalcy to Sunoo’s life.

Sunoo walked with purpose down the familiar city streets, the early morning hustle around him a backdrop to his thoughts. The crispness of the morning air mixed with the aroma of freshly baked goods from nearby cafes, guiding him toward a cozy little spot he had grown to enjoy.

As he passed by a quaint cafe, he noticed a familiar face standing outside. It was Sunghoon, looking effortlessly put together in a stylish jacket and jeans. His presence seemed like a beacon of warmth in the chilly morning, and Sunoo found himself smiling as their eyes met.

“Good morning, Sunoo!” Sunghoon called out, his voice bright and friendly.

Sunoo offered a hesitant smile, feeling a bit self-conscious but welcoming the interaction. “Good morning, Sunghoon."

Sunghoon’s face lit up with an inviting smile. “Would you like to join me? I was about to grab a bite here and could use some company.”

The offer was unexpected but pleasant. Sunoo considered it for a moment before nodding. “That sounds great. Thank you.”

Sunghoon led the way into the cafe, the warmth of the interior providing a stark contrast to the cool morning air. The cafe exuded a cozy charm with its wooden tables, vintage decor, and the enticing scent of fresh coffee and pastries. Sunoo felt a sense of relief as he stepped inside, the warmth embracing him like a comforting hug.

As they approached the counter, Sunghoon glanced back at Sunoo. “What would you like to order?"

Sunoo looked at the menu and decided quickly. “Just a croissant and a latte, please. I’ll find us a table.”

Sunghoon nodded and headed to the counter, leaving Sunoo to choose a spot. Sunoo selected a table by the window, where the soft morning light created a serene atmosphere. He adjusted Sunjin’s blanket, ensuring the baby was warm and comfortable, while Sunjin slept soundly against his chest.

Sunghoon returned with their order, the croissant still warm and the latte steaming invitingly. He placed the items on the table and sat down across from Sunoo. “I hope this is okay."

“It’s perfect, thank you,” Sunoo said, taking a sip of his latte. The rich flavor was a welcome comfort.

As they began to eat, the conversation flowed naturally. Sunoo found himself opening up more than he usually did. “Sunjin’s about to turn one next month,” he said, his eyes brightening with pride. “I’m planning a small celebration. I’m going to cook a bit and get a cake. It’s going to be a low-key affair, but I think it’ll be nice.”

Sunghoon’s face lit up with a genuine smile. “That sounds wonderful. I’d love to come if that’s okay. It must be exciting to celebrate such a milestone.”

Sunoo’s smile widened. “Of course. It would be nice to have someone join us. We don't have any visitors.”

Sunghoon’s eyes reflected a mix of surprise and curiosity. “I’m honored you’d invite me. I’m looking forward to it.”

They continued chatting, and Sunoo found himself enjoying the conversation more with each passing moment. Sunghoon was easy to talk to, his curiosity and genuine interest making the interaction pleasant. Sunoo mentioned that Sunjin was beginning to walk, though he still needed some support. Sunghoon glanced at Sunjin, who was contentedly drinking from his milk bottle, and smiled warmly.

“That’s impressive,” Sunghoon remarked. “He looks so content. It’s amazing to see how quickly they grow.”

Sunoo nodded. “He’s learning and changing so fast. It’s a wonderful experience, though it can be overwhelming at times.”

Sunghoon shared more about himself, and Sunoo learned that Sunghoon was 22 and had two younger brothers still living with their parents. Sunghoon spoke about his family with a mix of fondness and humor, describing the lively chaos that came with having siblings so close in age.

After finishing their breakfast, they tidied up their table and prepared to leave. Sunoo appreciated Sunghoon’s offer to help with the bag he had been carrying. “Thank you for taking this,” Sunoo said gratefully. “It’s been a bit heavy.”

“It’s no trouble,” Sunghoon replied, taking the bag from Sunoo’s shoulder. “I’m happy to help.”

As they walked back to Sunoo’s apartment, Sunjin remained peacefully asleep in the carrier. The day had warmed up slightly, and the city was becoming more lively as the morning progressed. Sunoo felt a sense of calm, enjoying the company and the ease of their conversation.

When they reached the entrance of Sunoo’s apartment building, Sunoo took the bag from Sunghoon. “Don’t forget about Sunjin’s birthday,” Sunoo reminded with a smile. “It’s coming up in a month.”

Sunghoon’s smile was warm and genuine. “I won’t forget. I’m looking forward to it.”

They exchanged goodbyes, and Sunoo entered his apartment with a sense of contentment. The morning had been unexpectedly pleasant, and the connection with Sunghoon had provided a refreshing break from his routine.

As he settled Sunjin into his crib, Sunoo felt a renewed sense of optimism. The day had offered a glimpse of normalcy and friendship, and the promise of a small celebration for Sunjin’s first birthday filled him with anticipation.

The afternoon sun cast a soft glow over the apartment, and Sunoo took a moment to reflect on the morning’s events. The warmth of newfound friendship and the joy of sharing simple moments had provided a welcome boost to his spirits. As he prepared for the rest of the day, Sunoo felt a quiet confidence, ready to embrace whatever challenges and joys lay ahead.

Chapter Text

Eight months have passed since Sunoo and Sunjin settled in their new apartment, and today was a day of particular importance: Sunjin’s first birthday. The apartment had been transformed for the occasion, with decorations and a special meal prepared to mark the milestone.

Sunoo had spent the day cooking two of Sunjin's favorite dishes—savory chicken and vegetable stew, and a hearty beef pasta. The aroma of the cooked food filled the apartment, mingling with the faint scent of the beautiful birthday cake he had bought. The cake was adorned with colorful decorations, a visual treat that promised to make Sunjin’s birthday memorable.

Sunoo’s nerves were palpable. In the eight months they had lived in the apartment, no one had visited them. This birthday party marked the first time someone from outside their small world would be stepping through their door. The thought of hosting someone for the first time filled him with both excitement and anxiety.

Dressed in a denim jacket that matched Sunjin’s denim jumper and long-sleeve shirt, Sunoo did his best to calm his nerves. He wanted everything to be perfect for Sunjin’s special day. As the clock approached 7 PM, Sunoo heard the doorbell ring, sending a flutter of nervous energy through him.

Taking a deep breath, he opened the door to find Sunghoon standing there with a warm smile. Sunghoon was carrying two paper bags—one large and one smaller.

“Hi,” Sunghoon greeted, his voice cheerful and friendly.

“Hi, Sunghoon,” Sunoo responded, his smile slightly shaky but genuine. “Come in.”

Sunghoon stepped inside, taking in the festive atmosphere of the apartment. Sunoo led him to the dining area, where the table was set with the prepared food. The room was adorned with balloons and streamers, and the soft glow of fairy lights added a magical touch to the evening.

“I bought some clothes and toys for Sunjin,” Sunghoon said, placing the bags on the table. “Since I wasn’t sure what he might like, I hope he finds them useful.”

Sunoo’s smile was warm and appreciative. “You really didn’t have to do that, but thank you. I’m sure Sunjin will love them.”

They settled at the dining table and began to eat. The meal was a hit, and the conversation flowed easily. Sunoo talked about Sunjin’s milestones and the plans he had for the evening. Sunghoon shared stories about his own life, and they found common ground in their shared experiences.

After they finished eating, Sunoo excused himself to check on Sunjin, who had fallen asleep. He wanted to make sure his son was comfortable and to tidy up the dining area. Sunghoon wandered into the living room, where he started to examine the photographs on the walls.

The living room was filled with pictures of Sunjin at various stages of his young life. Sunghoon’s eyes were drawn to one particular photo: a picture of Sunoo, Sunjin, and another man. The man was unfamiliar to him, and Sunghoon’s curiosity was piqued. He wondered about the man’s connection to Sunoo and Sunjin. Could he have been someone important in their lives?

Sunoo returned to the living room and noticed Sunghoon’s lingering gaze on the photo. He sensed the curiosity but chose not to address it directly. Instead, he focused on making the evening as enjoyable as possible.

“Sorry about that,” Sunoo said with a smile. “I like to keep these photos up to remember the good times.”

Sunghoon quickly shifted his attention back to Sunoo. “No, it’s fine. The photos are lovely. I didn’t mean to intrude.”

Sunoo’s smile was reassuring. “It’s okay. I’m glad you’re here to celebrate with us. It means a lot.”

As the evening drew to a close, Sunoo began to prepare for Sunghoon’s departure. He felt a mix of gratitude and sadness as the night came to an end. Sunghoon had added a special touch to Sunjin’s birthday celebration, making it a memorable occasion.

At the front door, Sunoo turned to Sunghoon. “Thank you for coming tonight. It really means a lot to us.”

Sunghoon smiled warmly. “I’m glad I could be here. I’ll make sure not to miss Sunjin’s birthday next year.”

Sunoo’s eyes sparkled with gratitude. “I’m sure he’ll appreciate it. Have a good night, Sunghoon.”

They said their goodbyes, and Sunoo closed the door behind him. The night settled over the city, and Sunoo felt a deep sense of satisfaction. The birthday celebration had been a success, filled with moments of joy and connection. The photograph of the unknown man would linger in Sunghoon’s mind, but for now, Sunoo was focused on the warmth and happiness of the evening.

As Sunoo returned to Sunjin’s room, where his son slept peacefully, he felt a renewed sense of hope and optimism. The celebration had been a reminder of the strength and resilience that had brought them this far. The future remained uncertain, but with the support of friends and the love he had for his son, Sunoo was determined to build a brighter future, filled with love, joy, and the promise of new beginnings.

Chapter 9: Resilience

Chapter Text

Sunoo and Sunjin has now settled into the apartment for more than a year, and it has truly become a place of comfort and stability for him. The space feels like an extension of himself, a reflection of the life he’s built here. The apartment’s warm, sunlit rooms and cozy corners have grown familiar and welcoming, a stark contrast to the uncertainty of his past.

Every morning, Sunoo follows a cherished routine. He and Sunjin—his adorable young son—start their day together with a leisurely breakfast. They often invite Sunghoon to join them. Sunghoon’s presence at their breakfast table has become a comforting constant. Sunoo looks forward to these moments; the laughter and easy conversation they share over pancakes or scrambled eggs create a sense of belonging that Sunoo deeply values.

Sunoo’s days are also marked by his work at the grocery store. Despite the long hours and the occasional stress, he finds solace in the familiar routine of stocking shelves and assisting customers. Sunghoon, being an alpha with a strong work ethic and a caring disposition, often shares shifts with him. Their teamwork at the store is seamless, and Sunoo appreciates Sunghoon’s help more than he can express. They’ve developed a rhythm that makes even the busiest days feel manageable.

Grocery shopping, too, has become a communal activity. They navigate the aisles together, Sunghoon occasionally offering to lift heavy bags or reaching items on high shelves, his alpha strength coming in handy. Sunoo treasures these moments of shared responsibility and companionship. They might laugh over a funny item they find or debate over the best brands, but these mundane tasks become highlights of their week when done together.

Sunoo’s gratitude for Sunghoon goes beyond words. Sunghoon’s kindness and willingness to step in when needed have been a source of immense comfort and support. As an omega and the single parent of Sunjin, Sunoo often faces challenges that can feel overwhelming. Sunghoon’s steady friendship and his readiness to offer assistance have been a pillar of strength for Sunoo. His thoughtful gestures, whether it's helping with Sunjin or simply being a listening ear, mean the world to him.

In the quiet moments when Sunoo reflects on his life, he is filled with a profound sense of appreciation for the stability and happiness that Sunghoon has brought into their lives. Their friendship has not only enhanced Sunoo’s day-to-day experiences but has also provided him with a deeper sense of belonging and contentment. In Sunghoon, Sunoo has found more than just a friend—he has found a true ally and a cherished part of his family’s life.

One of the most poignant aspects of Sunoo’s life is the visits he and Sunjin make to Jake’s resting place. Sunoo and Sunjin continue to honor his memory. During their visits, Sunoo always takes time to talk to Jake, sharing updates about their lives and expressing his feelings. These visits are a deeply meaningful ritual, a way for Sunoo to stay connected with Jake and keep his memory alive.

Today marked another poignant visit for Sunoo and Sunjin. The early morning light painted the world in soft hues of gold, a gentle start to what was always an emotional journey. Sunoo and Sunjin set out for the cemetery, a routine that had become a deeply ingrained part of their lives since Jake’s passing.

Before heading to the cemetery, Sunoo made a stop at the local florist. He selected a bouquet of sunflowers—Jake’s favorite. As Sunoo picked out the bright yellow blooms, his fingers brushed against their velvety petals, each touch a reminder of the joy Jake had brought into their lives. He carefully arranged them in a vase, ensuring the flowers would stand out vibrantly against the somber backdrop of the cemetery.

The drive to the cemetery was filled with the comforting sounds of the car’s engine and Sunjin’s occasional coos and babbles from the back seat. Though Sunjin was only a bit over a year old, his small voice carried a curious, innocent enthusiasm about the world outside. Sunoo glanced in the rearview mirror, his heart heavy with the weight of the day’s purpose.

When they arrived, Sunoo gently helped Sunjin out of the car. Sunjin, still mastering the art of walking, wobbled a bit on his tiny feet but was eager to explore. Sunoo let him take the lead, watching with a mixture of pride and sadness as Sunjin made his way towards the familiar site. The cemetery had become a place Sunjin seemed to recognize, his tiny steps full of tentative familiarity.

They reached Jake’s grave, a serene spot amidst the neatly maintained plots. Sunoo set the sunflowers beside the headstone, arranging them with careful precision. The headstone bore Jake’s name, and Sunoo felt a familiar pang of grief as he looked at it. He knelt down, his heart heavy as he touched the cool surface of the stone.

“Hi, Daddy Jae,” Sunoo said softly, his voice trembling with emotion. “It’s me, Sunoo. We’ve come to visit you today.” His voice caught in his throat, and he continued, “I miss you so much. I wish you could see how Sunjin is growing.” Sunoo’s eyes filled with tears as he looked over at Sunjin, who was now sitting on the grass, his little hands clutching at the ground with innocent curiosity.

“Look, Daddy Jae,” Sunoo said, his voice cracking with emotion, “Sunjin is getting so big. He’s walking on his own now, even if he still wobbles a bit. It seems like just yesterday I was carrying him everywhere.” The sadness of Jake’s absence seemed to deepen with every visit, but the sight of Sunjin—growing up so quickly—added a bittersweet note to the moment.

Turning to Sunjin, Sunoo encouraged him gently, “Baby, say hello to Daddy.” Sunjin looked up at him with wide, innocent eyes, his head tilting slightly to the side. This endearing gesture, so reminiscent of Jake’s own thoughtful habit, made Sunoo’s heart ache. He chuckled softly, despite his tears. “Look, Daddy,” he said, his voice carrying a note of fondness, “Sunjin got your habit. When you were thinking, you’d tilt your head just like that.”

Sunoo was taken by surprise when Sunjin spoke. “Da-daddy…” Sunjin said, his voice small but clear. It was a simple word, but it carried a deep significance. Sunjin had been babbling for some time, but he had always called Sunoo ‘Papa.’ Hearing him say ‘Daddy’ now was a poignant reminder of the changes in their lives. Sunoo’s tears spilled over, his emotions overwhelming him. “Daddy, look,” he said, his voice choked with sobs, “Sunjin just called you Daddy.”

Taking a moment to compose himself, Sunoo continued to speak to Jake. “Daddy,” he said softly, “I’ve made a friend named Sunghoon. He’s an alpha, and he’s been so helpful to us. He joins us for breakfast almost every day and is always there when we need him. Sunghoon has become a great support for both Sunjin and me. I want you to know that we’re not alone. He’s a wonderful friend, and he helps us a lot.”

Sunoo’s gaze lingered on the headstone, his heart aching with both love and sorrow. “I hope you’re happy wherever you are. We miss you every day, but we’re doing our best to move forward. We have people who care about us, and Sunghoon has been a big part of that support. I just wanted you to know that we’re okay, and we’re finding our way.”

With one last, lingering look at the grave, Sunoo wiped his tears away. His heart was heavy, but there was a sense of peace in acknowledging the ongoing connection with Jake. “I love you so much, Daddy,” Sunoo said softly. “We’ll see you on our next visit, with Sunjin by my side.” He pressed a gentle kiss to his fingertips and touched the headstone, a final gesture of love and remembrance.

As they prepared to leave, Sunoo took Sunjin’s hand, feeling the warmth of his tiny fingers in his own. They walked back to the car, their steps slow and reflective. The visit had been emotional, as it always was, but it reaffirmed the love and strength that continued to guide their lives.

The drive home was quiet, filled with the soothing sounds of Sunjin’s occasional babbling and the gentle hum of the car. Sunoo glanced at Sunjin through the rearview mirror, his heart filled with a mixture of sadness and gratitude. The journey was more than a visit—it was a reaffirmation of the love that bound their family together and a reminder of the strength they drew from each other.

After their emotional visit to Jake's grave, Sunoo and Sunjin returned home. The day had been long and heavy, and Sunjin, clearly exhausted, had fallen asleep almost as soon as they got into the car. Sunoo carefully carried him into his room, tucking him under the covers with a gentle touch. The sight of his son sleeping so peacefully, despite the turmoil of the day, brought a fleeting sense of calm to Sunoo’s heart.

As Sunoo moved to the kitchen to prepare lunch, the comforting routine of chopping vegetables and stirring a pot provided a small respite from his emotional state. The kitchen was bathed in soft light from the window, casting a warm, inviting glow over the space. Sunoo was focused on making a simple, nourishing meal—something light and easy, just enough to sustain both him and Sunjin.

Just as he was finishing up, he heard the familiar sound of a knock at the door. His first thought was that it might be Sunghoon, who often dropped by to check in or share a meal. Sunoo’s heart warmed at the idea of Sunghoon’s visit. Sunghoon had become a dependable friend, and his presence was a comfort in many ways.

When Sunoo opened the door, he was greeted by Sunghoon, holding a bag of food. Sunghoon’s bright smile and the gentle alpha aura he carried with him immediately brought a sense of relief to Sunoo. “Hi, Sunoo,” Sunghoon said, his voice carrying the warmth and reassurance of his alpha nature. “I was at my family’s house, and my mom sent some food over. I thought you and Sunjin might like to share it with me.”

Sunoo’s face softened into a grateful smile. “Thank you so much, Sunghoon.” He stepped aside to let Sunghoon in and offered a brief but heartfelt hug. “Why don’t you make yourself comfortable in the living room while I finish up in the kitchen?”

Sunghoon entered the living room, his presence filling the space with a comforting alpha energy. He settled on the sofa, looking around the cozy room that had become a second home to him over the past year. Sunoo, meanwhile, returned to the kitchen to tidy up and finish preparing the meal. He felt a pang of appreciation for Sunghoon’s thoughtfulness and knew that his friend’s support had become a cornerstone of their daily lives.

As Sunoo finished cooking, he was aware of Sunghoon’s quiet presence in the other room.

With the meal prepared, Sunoo walked into the living room carrying a tray with the food. He noticed Sunghoon sitting on the sofa, looking thoughtful and slightly apprehensive. Sunoo took a seat beside him, and the two friends shared a comfortable silence for a moment. Sunoo could sense that Sunghoon had something on his mind, and he decided to gently prompt the conversation.

“Do you want to say something, Sunghoon?” Sunoo asked, his voice gentle and encouraging.

Sunghoon hesitated, his eyes meeting Sunoo’s with a mixture of shyness and earnestness. “Well, I’ve been meaning to ask about Sunjin’s father,” he began, his voice soft and cautious. “I know it might be a sensitive subject, and I don’t want to overstep, but I’ve always been curious. I feel like I don’t know much about that part of your life, and I understand if you’re not ready to talk about it. But if you’re comfortable, I’d really like to hear more.”

Sunoo looked at Sunghoon, a flicker of surprise and relief crossing his face. He appreciated Sunghoon’s respectful approach and the genuine curiosity behind his question. It had always felt unfair that he knew so much about Sunghoon’s life and yet had kept his own past so guarded. Sunoo took a deep breath, feeling the familiar mixture of emotions that accompanied discussions about Jake.

“His name was Jake,” Sunoo began, his voice softening with the weight of memory. “Jake was my friend when I was sixteen. We met at a community event, and there was an immediate connection. We became close over time, and when I turned seventeen, we started dating. It was a whirlwind—young love that felt so intense and real.”

He paused, his gaze dropping to his hands as he remembered the past. “Soon after, I found out I was pregnant with Sunjin. We were both so young, with no real plans for the future. It was overwhelming, but Jake was incredibly supportive. He stood by me through everything, and despite our youth and the uncertainty, we tried to make it work.”

Sunoo’s voice trembled as he continued, “But Jake’s family... they weren’t accepting. They didn’t want me to be a part of their lives. They had their own expectations and ideas about what was appropriate, and they didn’t see me fitting into that. It was a harsh rejection, and it was hard to face, especially at a time when we needed support the most.”

The memory unfolded like a heavy, reluctant shadow in Sunoo’s mind. It was a chilly evening when he and Jake made their way to Jake’s family home, a place that was supposed to be a sanctuary of sorts. Sunoo’s heart was pounding, a mix of nerves and hope swirling within him. Jake had insisted on introducing him and sharing the news of their impending parenthood. Sunoo, an omega in his late teens, had been filled with a hopeful optimism, despite the lingering fears.

They arrived at the grand house, its façade as imposing as the expectations that awaited them inside. Jake’s mother had greeted them with her usual stern expression, a stark contrast to the warmth Sunoo had hoped for. The atmosphere was tense as they settled into the formal living room, the walls adorned with family portraits and expensive decor that seemed to echo the high standards Jake’s family held.

It didn’t take long for the conversation to shift. Jake, with a determined look, finally spoke up, his voice steady but tinged with nervous energy. “Mom, there’s something we need to talk about,” he began. Sunoo sat beside him, feeling the weight of the moment press down on him like a physical force. “Sunoo and I... we’re going to have a baby.”

Jake’s mother’s reaction was immediate and harsh, her eyes widening in disbelief and then narrowing into a scowl. “What? You’re still so young! And of all the people you could have met, why this poor omega?” Her voice was a mix of anger and disappointment, a sharp contrast to the gentle hum of the room moments before.

Sunoo’s heart sank at the harsh words. The term “poor omega” stung deeply, a reminder of the prejudices and judgments he had feared all along. He could feel the heat rising in his cheeks, the emotional strain evident in the way his fingers clenched nervously in his lap.

Jake’s face flushed with a mixture of anger and hurt. He stood tall, his alpha presence radiating a fierce protectiveness. “Mommy,” he said, his voice cracking with emotion but holding firm. “How dare you speak like that about Sunoo? I love him, and we’re starting a family together. You don’t have the right to judge him or our future. If you can’t accept us, then you can forget about me as your son.”

Jake’s mother’s expression shifted from shock to defiance, her lips pressing into a thin line. The air grew thick with tension as Jake’s words hung heavy between them. Sunoo watched, feeling a profound mix of admiration and sorrow. He knew how much Jake had wanted to make this right, to bridge the gap between their worlds, but it was clear that the chasm was too wide to cross.

The confrontation ended as abruptly as it had begun. With one final, pained glance, Jake led Sunoo out of the house. They walked back to the car in silence, the weight of the conversation settling heavily on their shoulders. The once hopeful anticipation had been replaced with a profound sense of loss.

That evening marked the last time Sunoo saw Jake’s family. The echoes of that harsh exchange lingered, a painful reminder of the struggle they faced as they forged their path forward without the support that had been so deeply desired. The memory, vivid and raw, remained etched in Sunoo’s mind as a testament to the challenges they had overcome together, and the enduring strength of their bond in the face of adversity.

Sunoo took a deep breath, his gaze distant as he continued to share his story with Sunghoon. The weight of his past seemed to press heavily on him, but he felt a sense of relief in finally opening up.

“As for my family…” Sunoo began, his voice soft and tinged with a touch of sadness. “It wasn’t easy for us either. We faced rejection, though for different reasons. My family—well, we weren’t exactly accepted in the same way.”

He paused, gathering his thoughts as he looked down at his hands, which were resting in his lap. “We come from a humble background. My parents struggled to make ends meet. We lived in a small, modest apartment, and our lives were shaped by the constant challenge of just getting by. Unlike Jake’s family, who had wealth and status, my family didn’t have those privileges.”

Sunoo’s voice wavered slightly, but he continued with a determined look in his eyes. “When I got pregnant with Sunjin, it only made things more complicated. They didn’t understand. They saw it as another burden, something that was too much to handle. They were concerned about how I would manage, especially given our financial situation. They were disappointed, and there was a lot of tension. It felt like they saw me as a liability rather than as someone who needed support.”

He sighed deeply, the memory clearly weighing on him. “It wasn’t just about the money, though. It was about the differences in our lives. I was an omega from a poor family, and Jake was an alpha with a more affluent background. The contrast was stark, and it created a lot of friction. My family didn’t approve of the relationship."

Sunoo’s heart pounded in his chest as he reached the front door. With a trembling hand, he knocked, the sound echoing louder in his ears than it ever had before. He was already bracing himself for the worst, but nothing could fully prepare him for the reaction that awaited.

When his mother opened the door, her face was a mask of polite surprise that quickly shifted to confusion when she saw Sunoo’s downcast expression. His father appeared behind her, a stern look on his face that deepened as he took in the sight of his son.

Sunoo swallowed hard, his throat dry as he forced himself to speak. “Mom, Dad… I have something important to tell you. I’m pregnant.”

The silence that followed was deafening. Sunoo’s father’s face turned a shade of red that spoke volumes of his anger. Without warning, his father’s hand shot out, delivering a stinging slap to Sunoo’s cheek. The force of it sent Sunoo stumbling back, his vision blurring with shock and pain.

“You really are a whore!” his father shouted, his voice a mix of rage and disgust. “How dare you bring shame upon this family! Get out of here and don’t come back!”

Sunoo’s mother stood frozen, her eyes wide and her mouth slightly agape, but she didn’t move to intervene. Her silence was as condemning as her husband’s words. Within moments, Sunoo was being ushered out of the house, the door closing firmly behind him with a finality that left him reeling.

The cold air hit him as he walked away from the house, the weight of his father’s rejection settling heavily on his shoulders. He made his way to the small apartment he shared with Jake, each step feeling like a mile. The apartment, once a place of solace, now felt like a sanctuary in the midst of his turmoil.

He collapsed onto the couch, tears streaming down his face as he cradled his stomach protectively. The small space felt even smaller with the weight of his heartbreak pressing down on him. He sobbed quietly, the pain of rejection mingling with the fear of what lay ahead.

Jake arrived home later that evening, his expression shifting from curiosity to alarm when he saw Sunoo’s tear-streaked face. “Sunoo? What’s wrong?” Jake asked, his alpha instincts immediately alert to the distress in Sunoo’s scent.

Sunoo tried to compose himself, but the flood of emotions was too overwhelming. He recounted the painful confrontation, his voice breaking as he spoke. “They kicked me out, Jake. They… they don’t want me anymore. They said I’m a disgrace, that I’m bringing shame to them.”

Jake’s face hardened with a mix of anger and sorrow. He pulled Sunoo into a comforting embrace, his alpha nature seeking to provide warmth and protection. “I’m so sorry, Sunoo. I should have been there with you. But we’ll get through this together. We have each other, and we’ll make it work.”

The discussion turned to their immediate future. With the lack of support from their families, they were left to navigate their lives on their own. They talked about the practicalities of their situation—Sunoo’s need to focus on the baby and Jake’s new role as the primary provider. Jake had already secured a job at a local convenience store, a significant step down from the privileges he was accustomed to, but necessary for their survival.

Sunoo watched as Jake adjusted to his new job. It was clear that the work was hard and the hours long, but Jake persevered, driven by his love for Sunoo and their unborn child. The sight of Jake struggling with the demands of the job broke Sunoo’s heart. The once carefree and confident alpha now bore the weight of responsibility and exhaustion.

Despite the challenges, Jake used his remaining savings to buy a small house for them. Sunoo had suggested they save the money for emergencies, but Jake insisted on providing a stable home where they could build their life together. The gesture was both a symbol of hope and a practical necessity. They moved into the modest house, their new beginning marked by a mixture of relief and trepidation.

As time passed, Jake’s work situation improved. He gradually adapted to his new role and began to save more money. The stability they had worked so hard to achieve allowed Sunoo to focus on the upcoming arrival of their baby. When labor began, Jake was frantic. The chaos of the hospital and the uncertainty of the situation overwhelmed him. His alpha instincts drove him to ensure Sunoo received the best care possible, even though he was fraught with anxiety.

The moment Sunjin was born was a beacon of joy amid the struggles. Jake’s eyes were filled with tears of happiness as he held their son for the first time. The name Sunjin was chosen with care, symbolizing a new chapter for their family. Despite the hardships, they found solace in the love they shared and the life they were building together.

Their routine settled into a more stable pattern. They were able to provide for Sunjin’s needs and began to dream about the future. Sunoo planned to return to school once Sunjin was older, with hopes of finishing his education. Jake supported this goal, and they looked forward to the day they could marry and celebrate their love officially.

But their fragile happiness was shattered when Sunoo received a call from Jake’s workplace. The words “hit-and-run” echoed ominously in his ears, sending him into a spiral of panic. Sunoo rushed to the hospital with Sunjin in tow, his heart pounding with fear and hope.

The hospital was a whirlwind of activity and chaos. When Sunoo arrived, he was met with a scene of heartbreak. Jake’s family was there, their faces etched with grief and anger. The tension was palpable, and Sunoo felt the weight of their disapproval and blame. “Don’t come near my son!” Jake’s mother screamed, tears streaming down her face. “You’re the reason he got into this accident!”

Sunoo tried to approach Jake's body, but the emotional and physical barriers were too strong. He couldn’t see Jake’s body, couldn’t hold him one last time. The finality of the situation hit him hard, and he found himself consumed by grief and despair. The loss of Jake, combined with the harsh judgment from his family, left Sunoo feeling lost and adrift.

In the days that followed, Sunoo struggled to find his footing. The world felt like a bleak, unending void. He had lost the love of his life and faced the daunting task of raising Sunjin alone. The memories of their brief, joyful time together seemed to blur with the pain of their abrupt end, leaving Sunoo grappling with an overw helming sense of emptiness and sorrow.

Sunoo would never forget the events that had shaped his life and the profound impact they had on him. The emotional scars, though softened by time, still lingered beneath the surface. One evening, as he sat across from Sunghoon in their cozy living room, the quiet hum of Sunjin’s occasional babble filling the space, Sunoo felt a surge of resolve.

He took a deep breath, steeling himself to share something he had kept close to his heart for so long. “And… Jake and I never got mated,” he said softly, his voice carrying a hint of the pain he still felt. The concept of mating was a significant and intimate bond, a physical and emotional connection that signified a lifelong commitment. Alphas and omegas who were mates shared pheromones, marking each other in a way that cemented their union in a way that transcended mere marriage.

Sunghoon’s eyes widened in surprise at this revelation. In their circle, the bond of mating was a common and deeply valued aspect of relationships, symbolizing a union that was both physical and emotional. The fact that Sunoo and Jake, despite their deep feelings for each other, had never taken that final step was unexpected and intriguing.

Sunoo continued, his voice gaining strength as he spoke, “We had always planned to mate once we got married. We talked about it and looked forward to it. But life had other plans for us.” He paused, the weight of the past heavy in his words. For the first time in a long while, Sunoo spoke about these events without succumbing to tears. There was a sense of pride in his newfound strength, a testament to his journey through grief and healing.

Sunghoon, who had been listening intently, felt a deep sense of empathy for Sunoo. He reached out and placed a reassuring hand on Sunoo’s shoulder, his alpha presence a comforting balm. “Sunoo…”

Sunoo met Sunghoon’s compassionate gaze, his eyes reflecting both the sorrow and the resilience he felt. “Hmm?”

With a gentle smile, Sunghoon spoke with sincerity. “I want you to know that I’m always here for you and Sunjin. No matter what you need—whether it’s a listening ear, support through tough times, or just someone to share a meal with—count on me. As a friend, I’ll always be here for you both.”

Sunoo felt a wave of gratitude wash over him. Sunghoon’s words were a balm to his wounded heart, offering comfort and a sense of belonging that he had deeply missed. “Thank you so much, Sunghoon. Your kindness and support mean more to me than words can express.”

Feeling a renewed sense of calm, Sunoo decided to shift their focus to something comforting and familiar. “Let’s go eat,” he suggested warmly. “Sunjin might be waking up soon, and I’m sure he’s ready for lunch. It’ll be nice to have a meal together."

As they moved to the dining table, Sunoo and Sunghoon prepared to share a simple but satisfying meal. The kitchen was a welcoming space, with sunlight streaming in and casting a warm glow over the countertops. Sunoo had prepared a light, nourishing lunch—perhaps a vegetable soup with fresh bread and a crisp salad—something both comforting and easy to enjoy.

Sunghoon, ever the supportive friend, helped set the table with a cheerful efficiency. He brought out plates, utensils, and glasses, his presence adding a sense of ease to the preparations. Sunoo appreciated the gesture, feeling a deep sense of gratitude for Sunghoon’s unwavering support.

As they sat down to eat, the conversation flowed easily. Sunjin, having stirred from his nap, was nestled comfortably in his high chair, his eyes bright with curiosity. Sunoo glanced at his son’s sleepy but content face, and a soft smile touched his lips. Sunjin’s presence was a daily reminder of the love and strength that had carried them through the darkest times.

Sunghoon’s presence at the table added to the sense of normalcy and comfort that Sunoo cherished. They chatted about their day, shared stories, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of the meal. The shared laughter and easy conversation created a sense of belonging and togetherness that Sunoo valued deeply.

As they finished their lunch, Sunoo felt a renewed sense of hope and calm. The pain of the past was still a part of him, but it no longer defined his entire existence. With Sunghoon by his side and Sunjin as a constant source of joy, Sunoo embraced the present with gratitude and a quiet, resilient strength.

Their lunchtime together was more than just a meal; it was a reaffirmation of the bonds that held them together and a reminder of the warmth and support that surrounded them. As they cleared the table and prepared for the afternoon, Sunoo felt a sense of peace, knowing that with friends like Sunghoon and the love of his son, he could face whatever the future might bring.

Chapter 10: Meet

Chapter Text

As Sunoo and Sunghoon strolled through the park, Sunoo felt a blend of excitement and anxiety. Sunghoon had suggested meeting his brothers today, and while Sunoo was eager to socialize, he couldn’t shake his nervousness. The park was alive with the sounds of children playing, couples chatting, and birds singing, all bathed in the golden light of the afternoon sun.

Sunghoon led them to a shaded bench beneath a sprawling oak tree. The bench provided a tranquil view of a pond where ducks glided serenely across the water. Sunoo took a seat, trying to calm his nerves as they waited for Sunghoon’s brothers to arrive.

After a short while, Sunoo noticed two men approaching. One was tall and lean, with a darker complexion and a commanding presence. The other was also tall but had a more defined build, with fair skin and sharp, distinctive features. Both men carried an air of natural confidence and charisma that made them stand out.

Sunghoon stood up and waved enthusiastically as the men drew closer. “Jay! Ni-ki!” he called out, his voice filled with warmth. The two men responded with bright smiles, their faces lighting up as they approached.

When they reached the bench, Sunghoon introduced them with a sense of pride. “Jay, Ni-ki, this is Sunoo, the friend and neighbor I’ve been telling you about. And this is Sunjin, his son.”

Jay, the man with sharper features, extended his hand towards Sunoo with a welcoming smile. “Hi, I’m Jay. It’s nice to finally meet you.”

Ni-ki, the taller of the two, gave a firm handshake with a nod. “And I’m Ni-ki. It’s a pleasure.”

The conversation soon began to flow smoothly. Jay was eager to share stories about his fiancé, Jungwon, an omega with whom he was deeply in love. “You know,” Jay said, his eyes lighting up with affection, “My fiancé, Jungwon is also an omega, and I think you and he would get along really well. He’s warm and incredibly understanding. I can see you two having a lot in common.”

Sunoo smiled, feeling a bit of relief at the mention of someone who could relate to his own experiences. “That sounds wonderful. I’d love to meet him sometime.”

Ni-ki, who had been listening with interest, then chimed in with a slightly awkward but amused expression. “As for me,” he began, shifting in his seat, “I’ve got a boyfriend named Junghwan. Junghwan is... well, he’s always quite active, I'm quite active too, if you know what I mean.”

Jay chuckled, catching Ni-ki’s slight embarrassment. “Junghwan does have that reputation,” he said with a knowing smile. “He certainly keeps things interesting. And we're in the same age so.”

Ni-ki flushed slightly, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah, Junghwan is... very enthusiastic. Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming, but I suppose it’s just part of who he is.”

Sunoo listened with a mixture of curiosity and sympathy, understanding how such dynamics could affect their relationships. “It sounds like you two have a lively relationship,” Sunoo remarked, trying to offer a supportive smile.

The conversation continued as they shared more about their lives and relationships. Jay spoke of his plans for the future with Jungwon, their dreams of starting a family, and their shared hobbies. Ni-ki regaled Sunoo with humorous anecdotes about Junghwan’s playful and persistent nature. Sunoo found himself gradually relaxing, appreciating their openness and the way they spoke fondly of their loved ones.

As the afternoon wore on, the park’s heat became increasingly uncomfortable. What had started as a pleasant temperature now felt quite oppressive, prompting the group to decide it was time to head back to Sunghoon’s apartment, which promised a cooler and more comfortable setting.

Back at Sunghoon’s apartment, Sunoo felt a wave of relief. The space was cozy and familiar, with soft colors and comfortable furnishings. The living room featured a large sectional sofa, a coffee table with magazines and a few toys, and a big window offering a view of the city skyline. Sunoo had visited a few times before and was accustomed to the layout.

Sunghoon’s brothers joined them in the living room, and the atmosphere quickly became lively. Jay and Ni-ki engaged with Sunjin, playing a variety of games. They rolled a soft, colorful ball back and forth, made funny faces to elicit giggles, and stacked soft blocks. Sunjin’s laughter filled the room, and his boundless energy was infectious.

As the day continued, the room buzzed with joy and camaraderie. Jay and Ni-ki’s interactions with Sunjin were natural and heartwarming, and Sunoo appreciated their ability to connect with his son. The playful activities provided a delightful distraction and filled the apartment with warmth and happiness.

After a while, Jay and Ni-ki said their goodbyes, leaving with cheerful waves and warm hugs. Sunoo felt a sense of gratitude for their kindness. The clock on the wall showed it was nearly 6 p.m., and the day had passed quickly since they had first met at the park around 3 p.m.

Sunoo mentioned that he would head back to his own apartment, as Sunjin was already asleep. To his surprise, Sunghoon decided to come along. “I’ll come with you,” Sunghoon said with a chuckle. “I’ll help you get settled.”

When they arrived at Sunoo’s apartment, the familiar surroundings provided a comforting sense of home. Sunoo led Sunghoon to the bedroom where Sunjin was peacefully sleeping in his crib. The soft glow of a nightlight cast a gentle light over the room, and the rhythmic rise and fall of Sunjin’s chest was soothing.

“We should move to the living room,” Sunoo suggested quietly, not wanting to disturb Sunjin’s rest. “I don’t want to risk waking him up.”

Sunghoon nodded in agreement. “Of course,” he said softly.

They quietly left the bedroom and settled into the living area. The space was modest but cozy, with a comfortable sofa and a few armchairs. Outside, the city buzzed with activity, but inside the apartment felt like a tranquil retreat. Sunoo and Sunghoon sank into the sofa, and the day’s events settled into a quiet reflection.

As they talked, Sunoo felt a deep sense of relief and contentment. The day had been filled with new experiences and meaningful connections. Despite the earlier stress and guilt, Sunoo found comfort in Sunghoon’s presence and the positive interactions with his family. The evening promised a quieter end, and Sunoo was grateful for the support and companionship.

Chapter 11: Drunk

Notes:

Chapter Text

The living room was dim, the curtains drawn tight against the setting sun. Sunoo sat on the couch, his legs tucked beneath him, while Sunghoon absently fiddled with the edge of a cushion. From the bedroom, the gentle sound of Sunjin’s soft snores drifted into the living room, a calming reminder of the small life they were all connected to.

“Hey... do you want a drink?” Sunoo’s voice was barely a whisper, tinged with a hint of hesitance. “I’ve got some soju here.”

Sunghoon looked up, surprise flashing in his eyes. “Yeah, sure.” He chuckled, though the laughter didn’t quite reach his eyes, revealing a flicker of concern.

“I just miss it, you know?” Sunoo said, his tone carrying a trace of nostalgia. “I haven’t had a drink in a while.” He stood up and moved to the kitchen, returning with four bottles of soju and two bottle of Coke. The soft clink of glass on the coffee table broke the quiet as he set them down.

As they poured their drinks, Sunghoon leaned back, a nostalgic smile tugging at his lips. “So... want to talk about something?”

Sunoo smiled faintly, though it was edged with a touch of melancholy. “Not much to say, really. Just missing the old times. It’s been too long since I’ve had a drink.”

The room fell into a contemplative silence until Sunghoon broke it, glancing at a framed photo on the wall. “So... that’s Sunjin’s father, right?”

“Yeah,” Sunoo said, his smile fading slightly. The room seemed to grow heavier with the weight of the topic.

Sunoo’s expression shifted, shadows crossing his face. “He was a good father. Even though Sunjin was only a little over three months old when Jake passed, Jake was deeply committed. He was always so attentive, making sure that Sunjin’s needs were met even if he couldn’t express them. Jake had this instinctive way of calming Sunjin, always knowing how to soothe him, and he was very protective, making sure Sunjin felt safe and cherished.”

Sunghoon listened, his eyes reflecting empathy. “I don’t know him, but from what you’ve shared, he sounds like he was wonderful. And you’re doing a good with Sunjin, too.”

Sunoo’s gaze softened with gratitude. “Thanks. It’s not easy, but I try my best. I keep Jake’s memory alive in small ways. I talk to Sunjin about his father and play some of the lullabies Jake used to sing. I even try to incorporate some of the little rituals Jake loved, like the special bedtime routines. I want Sunjin to grow up with a sense of who his father was."

“That’s a beautiful way to honor him,” Sunghoon said gently. “It sounds like you’re keeping his spirit alive in everything you do.”

“Yeah,” Sunoo agreed, his voice reflecting the depth of his emotions. “It’s important to me that Sunjin feels connected to his father, even if he can’t remember him. I want him to know he was loved and cared for deeply.”

As they continued drinking, their conversation meandered through shared memories and personal reflections. They lost track of time, the soju bottles gradually emptying. The room grew warmer, their laughter more relaxed, as they sank into the comfort of each other’s company. The gentle buzz of their inebriation blended with the weight of their heartfelt conversation, creating a space of solace and connection.

(Warning, Mature content coming.)

Later on, Sunghoon detected a faint, sweet scent in the air, something reminiscent of bubble gum. At first, he was puzzled, unsure where it was coming from. He turned his head, his gaze landing on Sunoo, who had slumped with his head resting on his own knees. Sunoo’s cheeks were flushed a soft, rosy red from the soju, his breathing gentle and rhythmic as he seemed to drift between wakefulness and sleep.

Sunghoon found himself captivated by the sight before him. Sunoo’s skin was luminous in the dim light of the room, almost glowing with a serene, ethereal quality. His long, dark eyelashes rested on his cheeks, which were slightly flushed, giving him a look of tranquil vulnerability. His lips, full and tinted a deep red, were slightly parted in an expression of peaceful repose.

Unable to resist the allure of Sunoo’s serene beauty, Sunghoon slowly reached out. His fingers moved with deliberate care, brushing aside a stray lock of hair that had fallen across Sunoo’s forehead. The touch was gentle, almost reverent, as if he was afraid to disturb the fragile moment.

Sunoo stirred slightly at the contact, a soft, contented moan escaping his lips. “Mmm…” he murmured, the sound barely more than a whisper but filled with a sense of comfort.

Sunghoon’s breath caught in his throat, his heart pounding with unexpected intensity. “You’re so beautiful,” he said softly, his voice barely more than a breath, almost as if he was speaking to himself rather than to Sunoo.

Sunoo’s eyes fluttered open slowly, revealing a deep, reflective gaze. For a moment, their eyes locked, and the weight of their unspoken emotions seemed to fill the space between them. The soft glow from the lamp highlighted the vulnerability and rawness in Sunoo’s expression. Sunghoon could see the quiet strength and tenderness that lay beneath the surface, and it left him feeling more exposed than he had anticipated.

“Sunoo…” Sunghoon said again, his voice trembling slightly with a mix of awe and unspoken affection. His words were almost a plea, a desperate attempt to bridge the gap between them.

The room seemed to close in around them, the background noise fading into insignificance. The only sounds were the gentle hum of the air conditioner and the rhythmic breathing of Sunjin in the next room. The intimacy of the moment was overwhelming. Sunghoon’s gaze remained fixed on Sunoo’s eyes, the connection between them deepening with every heartbeat. He felt a rush of emotions—longing, admiration, and something deeper and more profound than he had expected.

As Sunoo’s gaze held his, Sunghoon’s heart raced faster, each beat echoing the intensity of the moment. He was acutely aware of every detail: the warmth of Sunoo’s skin, the softness of his breath, and the gentle rise and fall of his chest. The room seemed to contract around them, leaving just the two of them in a world of their own, where time seemed to stand still.

Sunoo’s eyes softened, and he seemed to search Sunghoon’s face for understanding. There was a silent exchange, a communication beyond words that spoke of shared feelings and unspoken promises. The moment stretched on, filled with the quiet, poignant reality of their connection, leaving Sunghoon both exhilarated and deeply moved.

Sunghoon, feeling the gentle haze of intoxication wash over him, found himself increasingly drawn to Sunoo. The dim room, filled with the soft glow of ambient lighting, seemed to create a cocoon around them. Each movement was amplified, every touch and glance laden with a heightened sense of urgency

Sunghoon's gaze locked onto Sunoo's as he closed the remaining distance between them. The space between them dwindled, and Sunghoon's heart pounded louder with each inch he drew closer. He could see the minute details of Sunoo's face-his slightly flushed cheeks, the subtle quiver of his lips, and the way his eyes, although a bit unfocused from their inebriation, sparkled with an almost curious anticipation.

With the air thick with expectation, Sunghoon's fingers gently grazed Sunoo's arm, a tentative touch that sent a shiver through both of them. He leaned in, their breaths mingling in the close quarters, the warmth of Sunoo's proximity both comforting and electrifying. There was a moment-a suspended breath-where Sunghoon could see the subtle rise and fall of Sunoo's chest, the almost imperceptible. parting of his lips, and the way his eyes fluttered open and closed as though grappling with the reality of the moment.

Slowly, deliberately, Sunghoon's lips brushed against Sunoo's. The initial contact was light, almost hesitant, a delicate exploration that spoke of both yearning and uncertainty. Sunoo's lips were soft, warm, and slightly trembling under the gentle pressure of Sunghoon's kiss. For a heartbeat, the world seemed to come to a standstill, the only sound being the muted thrum of their breaths.

Sunoo remained still at first, his body a taut string of tension as if he were trying to process the sudden shift in their interaction. Sunghoon could feel the hesitation radiating from him, a subtle resistance that was soon overridden by an instinctual response. As Sunghoon's lips lingered, Sunoo's lips parted slightly, allowing for a deeper connection. The tentative flick of Sunoo's tongue against Sunghoon's lips was a hesitant yet inviting gesture, a signal that he was ready to engage more fully.

Encouraged, Sunghoon parted his lips slightly, granting Sunoo access. Their tongues met in a slow, exploratory dance, each movement cautious yet charged with a growing sense of intimacy. The kiss deepened, with Sunghoon's tongue tracing the contours of Sunoo's lips, eliciting a soft, almost Imperceptible moan from Sunoo. The sound was a sweet, throaty murmur that reverberated through the kiss, sending waves of pleasure through Sunghoon.

As the kiss grew more passionate, Sunghoon's hands, which had been resting lightly on Sunoo's arms, moved up to cradle Sunoo's face. His thumbs gently caressed Sunoo's cheeks, the warmth of his touch grounding and reassuring. The intimacy of the gesture seemed to dissolve any lingering reservations, both of them fully immersed in the moment. Sunoo's fingers found their way to Sunghoon's hair, gripping it gently, and pulling him closer.

Their kiss evolved into something more urgent and fervent. Sunghoon's movements became more confident, his tongue exploring with greater intensity. Sunoo's response grew more animated, his moans becoming more frequent and expressive. The room seemed to spin around them, the effects of their drunken state amplifying the sensations and emotions they were experiencing.

Sunghoon could feel the intoxicating mix of passion and alcohol coursing through them. Each kiss, each caress, was a heady combination of tenderness and desire. Sunoo's body pressed closer, their forms melding together as if they were two halves of a whole finally finding their place. The world outside the room faded into insignificance, leaving only the overwhelming closeness of their shared moment.

The kiss continued, a dynamic interplay of passion and intimacy. Every touch, every sigh, seemed to draw then further into each other. It was as if time had collapsed, leaving them suspended in a single, perfect instant of connection and desire.

As the intensity of their kiss surged, the force of their combined passion led to a sudden shift in their positions. Sunoo found himself lying flat on the floor, his body sprawled out with an almost unconscious abandon. Sunghoon, caught up in the fervor of the moment, was positioned on top of him. The sofa, once a possible place of repose, now seemed a distant and irrelevant concern, overshadowed by the pressing proximity of their entangled forms.

Sunghoon's hands, previously exploring Sunoo's shoulders and face, had begun to wander with a newfound urgency. As their kiss deepened and grew more fervent, Sunghoon's movements became Increasingly exploratory. His fingers trailed down from Sunoo's cheeks, across his neck, and slowly descended along his sides. Each touch was a careful but impassioned exploration, as if Sunghoon was trying to memorize the feel of Sunoo's body beneath him.

Eventually, Sunghoon's hands reached Sunoo's thighs. The transition from the soft skin of Sunoo's torso to the firmer, more defined muscles of his legs was palpable. Sunghoon's fingers made contact with the warm, slightly textured fabric of Sunoo's pants. He could feel the subtle vibrations of Sunoo's breath through the material as his fingers pressed down. The sensation was electric, sending a thrill through Sunghoon as he grasped Sunoo's legs more firmly.

With deliberate intent, Sunghoon's fingers began to explore Sunoo's thighs. His touch was a mixture of gentle caresses and more assertive squeezes. He traced the line from Sunoo's hips down to his knees, his fingers lingering on the sensitive inner thigh where the fabric clung to Sunoo's skin. Each squeeze was firm, the pressure causing Sunoo to react with a soft gasp that vibrated through their kiss. The warmth of Sunghoon's hands contrasted sharply with the coolness of the floor beneath them, adding an extra layer of sensation to their already heightened experience.

Sunghoon's thumb brushed slowly along the inner contour of Sunoo's thigh, creating a path of lingering warmth. His grip varied between gentle strokes and more deliberate squeezes, each touch sending waves of sensation through Sunoo's body. The responsiveness of Sunoo, marked by occasional moans and shifts in his posture, encouraged Sunghoon to explore further, his hands roaming with increasing confidence.

The room around them became a blur of shadows and muted sounds, their focus narrowing to the Immediate and intense connection between them. The soft rustling of Sunoo's clothing, the heat radiating from their bodies, and the rhythmic rise and fall of their breaths were the only things that mattered in that moment. Sunghoon's touch on Sunoo's legs was not just a physical exploration but an expression of the deep, visceral connection they were sharing. Each squeeze, each caress, was infused with a mix of tenderness and raw desire, marking the profound intimacy of their experience.

As Sunghoon continued to hold and explore, the sensation of Sunoo's skin under his fingertips became almost addictive. The way Sunoo's body responded to his touch-whether it was a shiver, a sigh, or a subtle arch of the back-was a constant reminder of the passion and closeness that enveloped them. In this cocoon of mutual desire and inebriated abandon, the outside world ceased to exist, leaving only the electrifying sensation of their shared moment.

Sunghoon was consumed by a burning, almost primal tension that drove him to the edge of control. His body radiated heat as he hastily shed his clothes, his movements fueled by an urgent need. Each piece of fabric fell away in a frenzied heap, barely touching the floor before he turned his full attention to Sunoo

Their eyes met, charged with a deep, unspoken understanding. Sunghoon's hands, trembling with a mix of desire and anticipation, pulled Sunoo closer. He captured Sunoo's lips in a fierce, possessive kiss, their mouths moving together with an intensity that left them both breathless. The kiss was a melding of hunger and affection, his lips parting to explore Sunoo's with a fervor that matched the throbbing pulse in his veins.

Sunghoon's kisses grew more urgent as they traveled down Sunoo's neck, his lips leaving a trail of heated, insistent marks. Each kiss was accompanied by a gentle bite or a lingering suck, marking Sunoo as his. The sensation of Sunoo's skin under his lips only intensified his need, causing his breath to come in shallow, rapid gasps.

Sunoo's initial gasps and moans of pleasure slowly gave way to a heavy, shared silence, the air between them charged with palpable desire. Sunghoon's fingers deftly worked to undo the buttons of Sunoo's shirt, his hands moving with a practiced mix of eagerness and precision. As the shirt was peeled away, Sunghoon's lips eagerly followed, moving over the newly exposed skin of Sunoo's chest.

With a combination of urgency and reverence, Sunghoon's kisses descended from Sunoo's collarbone to his chest. He lavished attention on Sunoo's sternum, his lips lingering over every sensitive spot, each kiss a declaration of his intense need. His hands continued their relentless exploration, deftly unfastening Sunoo's belt and sliding his pants down with a practiced, almost reverent touch.

As Sunoo's lower body was revealed, Sunghoon's kisses continued their journey southward, moving over Sunoo's stomach with deliberate slowness. Each touch of his lips against Sunoo's skin was accompanied by a soft, exploratory caress, heightening the shared anticipation between them. Sunghoon's breath grew ragged as he traced the contours of Sunoo's abdomen, his kisses mapping out every muscle with an intimate fervor.

The room around them seemed to dissolve, leaving only the heated exchange between them. The air was thick with the scent of their combined arousal and the soft, rhythmic sounds of their passion.

Sunghoon's hands and lips worked in unison, creating a symphony of touches and kisses that spoke to the depth of his desire. Each caress, each mark he left, was a testament to the overwhelming connection they shared, a bond that was as primal as it was profound.

Sunghoon pulled back slightly, his eyes roaming over Sunoo's body with a mixture of awe and a deep, unrestrained desire. Despite the significant changes that came with his pregnancy and the recent childbirth, Sunoo's body remained strikingly beautiful. His complexion was a delicate blend of pale white and soft pinks, a subtle but vivid contrast that made his skin glow under the dim light. His waist was narrow and gracefully curved, leading to plump, Inviting thighs that seemed to beg for attention. The sight of Sunoo, entirely exposed and vulnerable, only fueled Sunghoon's craving.

The room was filled with an intense, almost palpable heat as Sunghoon carefully lifted one of Sunoo's legs and draped it over his shoulder. This positioning allowed him to align himself perfectly with Sunoo. Sunghoon's movements were deliberate but filled with an urgent need, his breath coming in shallow bursts as he positioned his erection against Sunoo's entrance.

With a slow, controlled push, Sunghoon eased into Sunoo. The initial penetration elicited a sharp, guttural moan from Sunoo, a raw, primal sound that seemed to reverberate through the room. "Ugh!" Sunoo's response was immediate and intense, his body tensing before relaxing into the rhythm of their connection. The sensation was electric, a jolt of heat and pleasure that made Sunghoon's grip tighten as he continued to push forward.

As Sunghoon began to establish a steady rhythm, his movements became a blend of instinct and passion. Each thrust was deliberate, yet filled with a desperate need that matched the throbbing. pulse between them. Sunoo's moans grew more frequent, his sounds a mix of pleasure and surrender that drove Sunghoon to deepen their connection even further.

The effects of their mutual intoxication added a surreal layer to their encounter. The alcohol had clouded their judgment, intensifying their senses and blurring the lines of reality. In this altered state, their focus was solely on the overwhelming pleasure they were experiencing, their bodies moving in a fluid, almost dream like dance. Sunghoon's touch was both urgent and tender, each movement driven by a primal desire that seemed to transcend their usual awareness.

As Sunghoon continued, the room was filled with a cacophony of soft, sensual sounds-the rhythmic slapping of skin against skin, the mingling of their labored breaths, and the soft, insistent moans escaping from Sunoo. The intoxication heightened the sensations, making each touch, each thrust feel more profound and all-consuming.

Sunghoon, his speech heavily slurred and his movements unsteady from the effects of alcohol, managed to articulate his desire with a mix of drunken determination and raw need. "I want you to ride me," he said, his voice thick and hoarse.

Sunoo, equally impaired by the alcohol, responded immediately, driven by a mix of desperation and intoxicated passion. He stumbled slightly as he stood up, his movements a bit uncoordinated. Without hesitation, he positioned himself on Sunghoon's lap, both of them still sprawled on the floor. The coolness of the floor against their skin was a stark contrast to the heat between them.

Sunoo's hands shook slightly as he reached down, grasping Sunghoon's erect member with a sense of urgency. He guided it towards his entrance, his breaths coming in shallow, quick gasps. With a mix of anticipation and need, Sunoo slowly lowered himself onto Sunghoon. As he felt the initial penetration, he let out a soft, strained moan. "Ugh!" The sensation was a jolt of heat that made him shiver.

Sunghoon's reaction was immediate. A deep, guttural moan escaped him as Sunoo settled onto him. "Ahh!" His voice was a blend of pleasure and strained effort. The intensity of the moment seemed to heighten every sensation, their bodies pressed together in a feverish embrace

As Sunoo adjusted to the intrusion, he began to move with a steady rhythm, his body instinctively finding a rhythm that brought both of them intense pleasure. He bounced up and down on Sunghoon's lap, each movement driven by a mixture of urgency and raw, primal need. Sunoo's grunts and gasps filled the room, his voice a mix of exertion and ecstasy. "Ugh! Ahh!" The sounds of his pleasure were punctuated by the rhythmic motion of his body.

Sunghoon's hands were not idle. One hand gripped Sunoo's waist tightly, his fingers digging into the soft flesh as he guided and supported Sunoo's movements. His other hand was positioned firmly on Sunoo's ass, alternating between squeezing and slapping with a rhythmic intensity. The contact was both rough and tender, each touch accentuating the heated connection between them.

The room was thick with the sounds of their passion, their breaths coming in rapid, uneven bursts. The intensity of their combined arousal created an almost tangible atmosphere of heat and urgency. Sunoo's movements became more insistent, driven by a desperate need for release, while Sunghoon's hands continued their relentless exploration of Sunoo's body.

Sunoo's body moved with an almost frantic energy, his hips rocking and grinding against Sunghoon in a rhythm that was both primal and impassioned. Sunghoon's grip on Sunoo tightened, his fingers digging in more firmly as he responded to the rhythm with his own thrusts. Each motion, each touch, was a reflection of their intoxicated state and their overwhelming need for each other.

As their movements grew more urgent, the room seemed to blur around them. The alcohol had dulled their awareness, making every sensation more vivid and intense. Their bodies were locked in a fervent dance, a shared experience of raw, unfiltered desire. The sounds of their pleasure filled the air, a chaotic symphony of moans, gasps, and the rhythmic slapping of skin against skin.

In this fevered state, Sunoo and Sunghoon were consumed by the moment, their intoxication amplifying every touch and every gasp. The intensity of their passion created a cocoon of heat and desire, leaving them both lost in the primal connection that had taken over their senses.

The bathroom was softly illuminated by a single overhead light, casting a warm glow that flickered with the haze of steam from the recent shower. Sunghoon's breath was labored and uneven as he held Sunoo in his arms, their bodies pressed together in a cocoon of warmth and primal desire. The scent of warm soap and lingering steam mingled with their own intoxicating fragrances, creating an atmosphere charged with tension.

Sunghoon's fingers traced gentle patterns across Sunoo's back, his touch both tender and firm. His breath was hot against Sunoo's ear as he leaned in, his voice a low growl filled with possessive intent. "I want to see how deeply my cock enters you," he murmured, each word dripping with the authoritative tone of an alpha. His statement was more than just a promise; it was a declaration of his dominance and their unspoken bond.

Sunoo's response was immediate-a soft, trembling moan that reflected his eager submission. He leaned into Sunghoon's embrace, his omega instincts fully attuned to the alpha's presence. They moved toward the bathroom mirror, their reflections captured in the polished surface. Sunoo's body was angled to face the mirror, his legs spread wide and supported by Sunghoon's strong arms. The intimate spectacle of Sunghoon's cock sliding in and out of Sunoo's entrance was vividly displayed, a visual testament to their deep connection.

The sight was a powerful blend of desire and dominance. Sunghoon's cock, already slick with their combined arousal, moved with a steady rhythm. The mirror caught the reflection of their bodies in the throes of passion, highlighting the depth of their physical and emotional connection. Sunoo's skin was flushed, his breath coming in ragged, desperate gasps as he experienced the full force of Sunghoon's alpha dominance.

The room was filled with their mingled scents: Sunoo's sweet, bubblegum aroma, representing his omega essence, and Sunghoon's rich, chocolate scent, embodying his alpha nature. The fragrances blended into a heady mixture that heightened the sensory experience, making the air thick with their shared desire. Each inhalation was a reminder of their roles, an intoxicating blend that made their bond palpable and immediate.

As Sunghoon's thrusts grew more insistent, Sunoo's moans became louder and more desperate. His voice was a mix of pleasure and submission, a symphony of gasps and cries that echoed off the bathroom walls. The sounds of their passion filled the room, a constant reminder of the alpha's control and the omega's surrender. Sunoo's eyes were locked on the mirror, where he watched their bodies move together with a mixture of awe and heightened arousal. His gaze was a reflection of his complete submission to Sunghoon's alpha dominance.

Sunghoon's movements became more urgent, driven by a primal need to claim and possess. His thrusts were deeper and more forceful, each one a testament to his alpha nature. The intensity of his actions was both a physical and emotional assertion of his dominance. His grip on Sunoo tightened, his hands guiding Sunoo's hips with a firm yet possessive touch. The rhythm of their bodies was a dance of power and submission, a testament to their roles within the dynamics.

Just as Sunghoon felt the surge of his Impending release, Sunoo's eyes rolled in pleasure. A powerful climax overtook him, his body trembling uncontrollably as he experienced the peak of his omega submission. His cries of pleasure grew louder, each one a testament to the intensity of his experience under Sunghoon's dominance. The force of his release seemed to radiate through him, making his moans even more desperate and resonant.

Despite the overwhelming pleasure, Sunoo's desire did not wane. His body arched with each wave of ecstasy, his cries filling the room with a raw, unfiltered Intensity. Even as he writhed and gasped, he expressed a fervent need to continue, his voice pleading for more, a reflection of his omega's insatiable desire to be fully claimed by his alpha.

Sunghoon, his senses clouded by a combination of intense desire and the effects of alcohol, struggled to articulate his feelings. His voice was thick and slurred, but the authority in his tone remained. "Do you see that?" he growled, his voice filled with possessiveness and pride. "Your body is mine, and no one else's. You're my omega, and you're mine alone. Do you understand?" The alcohol heightened his declarations, making them more urgent and impassioned.

Sunoo, equally affected by the alcohol and the intensity of their shared moment, responded through his gasps and moans. "Yes, only you," he managed to say, his voice a breathy whisper. "I want you to cum inside me. I'm yours."

With a final, deep thrust, Sunghoon buried himself fully within Sunoo. The sensation of their bodies pressed together reached its peak as Sunghoon's release surged through him. He felt a profound wave of pleasure as he came inside Sunoo, the intensity of the climax leaving him breathless and spent. The release was a deep, primal affirmation of their bond, a testament to Sunghoon's dominance and Sunoo's submission.

Their bodies remained locked together for a moment, the shared climax creating a powerful sense of unity between them. The room was filled with their heavy breathing and the lingering echoes of their cries. The steam from the shower, combined with their lingering scents, enveloped them, marking the end of their intense encounter.

As the final waves of their pleasure ebbed away, Sunghoon's grip on Sunoo relaxed. Both were lost in a haze of satisfaction and intoxication, their physical and emotional connection palpable in the aftermath of their passionate encounter. The bathroom, once a space of primal intensity, now felt like a sanctuary where their bond was solidified.

Sunghoon was feeling the effects of alcohol weighing heavily on him. His movements were unsteady, and his vision was hazy as he looked down at Sunoo, who had lost consciousness. The combined exhaustion from their earlier activities and the influence of alcohol had taken a noticeable toll on both of them.

With great effort, Sunghoon carefully gathered Sunoo into his arms. His steps were slow and careful, though slightly wavering, as he made his way back to the living room.

The living room was dim and quiet as Sunghoon, heavily drunk, slumped onto the sofa, feeling disoriented. He awkwardly gathered Sunoo, who was also unconscious from the alcohol, and settled him on top of him. Despite his foggy mind, Sunghoon managed to wrap his arms around Sunoo in a clumsy embrace.

Both were deeply inebriated, their earlier actions lost to the haze of their intoxication. The warmth of the sofa and each other’s bodies provided a deceptive comfort as they drifted into sleep. Their breathing synchronized in a peaceful rhythm, oblivious to the implications of their night.

In their alcohol-induced slumber, the weight of what had happened was completely forgotten, leaving them peacefully entwined in a cocoon of warmth and unawareness.

Chapter 12: Aftermath

Chapter Text

As Sunoo woke up, a wave of pain surged through him, making him moan softly while his eyes stayed tightly shut. His head throbbed, and his body felt heavy, weighed down by an unsettling mix of exhaustion and discomfort. The immediate need to get up pressed on him; Sunjin might be awake and hungry, and Sunoo’s maternal instincts pushed him to check on his child.

When Sunoo finally dared to open his eyes, the sight that greeted him was both disorienting and distressing. He found himself sprawled across Sunghoon, their bodies entangled in an intimate embrace. Sunoo’s arms were wrapped around Sunghoon’s waist, his face resting against Sunghoon’s chest. The realization of their proximity struck him like a bolt of lightning. Panic surged through him, a primal fear that made his chest heave with rapid breaths. He had to get away—this was wrong, and he needed to distance himself immediately.

With a mix of urgency and clumsiness, Sunoo extricated himself from the tangle of limbs. His movements were hurried and frantic as he scrambled to his feet, stumbling slightly as he tried to put as much distance between himself and Sunghoon as possible. He glanced back briefly, his heart pounding, to see Sunghoon stirring awake, confusion etched across his features.

Sunghoon’s eyes fluttered open, and the initial confusion quickly gave way to concern as he took in Sunoo’s distressed form. Sunghoon’s face was a canvas of worry and hurt, his brow furrowed as he tried to process the situation. He sat up, his movements unsteady, and reached for his clothes scattered nearby. His hands trembled as he hurriedly dressed, the urgency of the situation making his fingers fumble with the buttons and fastenings.

Sunghoon opened his mouth to speak, but Sunoo’s rising panic cut him off. “Sun—”

“Go home,” Sunoo snapped, his voice cold and laced with a biting edge. The words felt foreign on his tongue, but they were driven by a deep, visceral need to push Sunghoon away.

“Sunoo—” Sunghoon began, his voice thick with sadness and confusion. His eyes pleaded for understanding, but the hurt in Sunoo’s gaze was unyielding.

“Leave!” Sunoo’s voice cracked with the weight of his emotions, his tone a sharp command that echoed through the room. “Just leave!”

Sunghoon flinched as if struck by the force of Sunoo’s words. He took a hesitant step back, his face a mask of anguish and disbelief. He wanted to explain, to make sense of what had happened, but the raw intensity of Sunoo’s anger made it clear that now was not the time. He gathered the last of his composure and quietly exited the room, leaving Sunoo alone with his turmoil.

Once Sunghoon had gone, Sunoo crumpled to the floor, his sobs erupting with a raw, unrestrained force. His emotions were a tangled mess of guilt, shame, and sorrow. The reality of what had happened settled heavily on his shoulders. He had crossed a line, a line that he could never undo. He had a boyfriend—Jake—who, despite being deceased, remained a cherished part of his heart. The love he had for Jake was something he could not ignore or erase, and the betrayal felt even more acute in light of that.

Sunoo’s mind raced with a relentless stream of thoughts. The alcohol had been a factor, yes, but he couldn’t allow himself to use it as an excuse. The fact that he had been unfaithful, even in such a moment of vulnerability, weighed heavily on him. The guilt was a crushing presence, a constant reminder of his actions. He had allowed himself to become entangled with someone else, and now the consequences were laid bare before him.

Tears streamed down Sunoo’s face, each sob a manifestation of his deep regret and anguish. His cries were a mixture of self-reproach and mourning for what he had lost. The reality of his actions gnawed at him, and he felt a profound sense of betrayal not only towards Jake but also towards himself. The room seemed to close in around him as he sat there, consumed by his grief. The pain of what had happened was immense, and all Sunoo could do was cry, letting the tears flow freely as he grappled with the weight of his mistakes and the deep, painful love he still held for Jake.

Sunoo stumbled into the bathroom, his vision blurred by tears. The sight in the mirror was a painful reminder of his transgression: red marks and bruises marred his skin, stretching from his neck to his chest. Each mark was a stark reminder of the intimacy he had shared with Sunghoon, a betrayal that weighed heavily on him. The shame of his actions felt like a physical weight, pressing down on him with every breath.

He felt filthy and sullied, as though he carried the burden of his infidelity on his very skin. I’m dirty, Sunoo thought, overwhelmed by guilt. I’ve hurt Jake—my alpha, my love. How could I have done this? Jake’s memory, combined with the intense remorse he felt, was a crushing load on Sunoo’s heart.

Determined to rid himself of the physical and emotional grime, Sunoo turned on the shower. The hot water pounded against his skin, and he stepped under the relentless spray, hoping it would cleanse him of his guilt. He scrubbed feverishly with a washcloth, using soap and shampoo as if they could wash away his sins. The more he scrubbed, the more he realized that no amount of physical cleansing could erase the deep emotional pain he felt.

After what felt like hours, Sunoo emerged from the shower, still wrapped in a heavy shroud of guilt and shame. He wrapped himself in a towel and, with unsteady steps, made his way to the bedroom. The apartment was quiet, the air thick with his unresolved turmoil.

In the dim light of the room, Sunoo saw Sunjin peacefully sleeping in their shared bed. The sight of his baby, serene and oblivious to the chaos that had consumed his father, struck Sunoo with a pang of sorrow. Sunjin’s small form was nestled under the covers, his soft breathing a stark contrast to the storm raging within Sunoo.

Sunoo carefully approached the bed, trying not to wake Sunjin. He sat down gently on the edge and reached out to his child. With tender hands, he lifted Sunjin and cradled him in his arms. The warmth and softness of Sunjin’s tiny body against his chest was both comforting and heartbreaking.

He held Sunjin close, tears streaming down his face as he whispered through his sobs, “Baby, Sunjin, I’m so sorry. I’m so dirty… I’m sorry I hurt your daddy. My love, please forgive me.” His voice was choked with emotion, each word punctuated by his deep, wrenching sobs.

The weight of his betrayal felt almost unbearable, and the guilt was suffocating. Sunoo’s thoughts were a chaotic mix of regret and longing, his heart aching with the realization of the pain he had caused. As he held Sunjin, the gentle rise and fall of his child’s breathing was a small comfort, but it did little to soothe the storm inside him.

Gradually, the exhaustion of the day and the emotional toll took over. Sunoo’s tears began to slow, his breathing growing more regular as he succumbed to fatigue. He lay down beside Sunjin, keeping his child close. As sleep finally claimed him, Sunoo remained curled around Sunjin, seeking solace in the quiet presence of his child. His dreams were troubled by guilt and regret, but the warmth of Sunjin’s small body offered a fragile comfort in the midst of his inner turmoil.

Chapter 13: Silent

Chapter Text

It had been several weeks since Sunoo and Sunghoon had last spoken, and the space between them had only grown. Sunoo had been avoiding Sunghoon with a resolute silence that spoke louder than any words.

One evening, Sunghoon found himself standing outside Sunoo’s apartment, his mind heavy with the understanding of why Sunoo was shutting him out. He knew that Sunoo’s avoidance stemmed from the pain and guilt surrounding their last encounter—a situation that had clearly left a mark on both of them.

Taking a deep breath, Sunghoon raised his hand and knocked softly on the door. He waited, hoping that perhaps his presence might offer some small comfort or a chance for an honest exchange.

The door opened just enough for Sunoo’s face to come into view. His expression was a careful mask, betraying nothing of the turmoil he must have been feeling. Sunghoon tried to meet his gaze, but Sunoo’s eyes remained fixed somewhere past his shoulder.

“Sunoo,” Sunghoon’s voice was gentle, despite the emotions churning inside him. “I know why you’ve been avoiding me. I understand. If you ever feel ready to talk. But I respect your space and your need for time.”

Sunoo’s gaze flickered briefly towards Sunghoon, but he offered no words or sign of recognition. With a heavy silence filling the air, Sunoo slowly began to close the door. The finality of the movement was unmistakable.

Sunghoon stood there for a moment, his heart aching at the unmistakable rejection. The door was shut now, and with it, the chance for immediate resolution or reconciliation. The reality of Sunoo’s silence was a stark reminder of the distance that had grown between them.

Turning away from the door, Sunghoon walked back to his own apartment, carrying with him the weight of unspoken words and unresolved feelings. Though the encounter had been brief, the silent exchange left him with a profound sense of sorrow and hope—hope that someday, the silence might give way to understanding and healing.

Weeks had turned into months, and despite the passage of time, Sunghoon still hadn’t managed to talk to Sunoo. The silence between them was growing increasingly painful, and Sunghoon’s patience was wearing thin. He found himself caught in a whirlwind of emotions, led by his own instinctive desires and the pressure of his alpha side, which yearned for resolution and connection.

Sunghoon could barely recall when his feelings had shifted from simple friendship to something deeper. It was as if the first moment he saw Sunoo, a quiet, inexplicable comfort had settled over him, even though they hadn’t yet truly known each other. They had become close quickly, sharing meals and laughter, forming a bond that seemed unbreakable.

When Sunghoon first met Sunoo’s son, Sunjin, it felt like a natural extension of their growing relationship. The three of them often spent time together, and Sunghoon’s curiosity about Sunjin’s father was a constant undercurrent in his thoughts. He couldn’t help but wonder about the man who was missing from their lives.

His curiosity was piqued when he saw a photograph on Sunoo’s wall, showing a family of three: Sunoo, Sunjin, and another guy. Sunghoon’s heart sank as he saw the picture and asked Sunoo about it. The answer he received was both heartbreaking and illuminating.

Sunoo explained that the boy in the photograph was Jake, Sunjin’s father, who had died. Sunghoon could see the profound love and sorrow in Sunoo’s eyes as he spoke of Jake. It was clear that Jake’s death had left a deep, indelible mark on Sunoo’s heart. Sunghoon felt a wave of sadness wash over him, understanding that Jake hadn’t left them by choice; he had been taken from them too soon.

Despite his own feelings for Sunoo, which he kept closely guarded, Sunghoon accepted the reality of the situation with a heavy heart. He respected Sunoo’s enduring love for Jake and understood that, while his own feelings were his secret, his presence in Sunoo’s life was what mattered most to him. Sunghoon cherished the moments he could spend with Sunoo and Sunjin, even if their relationship remained as friends.

Chapter 14: Confrontation

Chapter Text

Sunghoon's patience had reached its limit. The constant avoidance from Sunoo had been excruciating, each encounter fraught with a silent barrier that seemed to grow thicker with every passing day. Yesterday, Sunoo had ignored him completely, and today Sunghoon decided to take decisive action.

He arrived at Sunoo’s apartment with a determined stride. The dim hallway felt oppressive, but Sunghoon’s resolve was unwavering. He had reached his limit. When he knocked on the door, Sunoo’s immediate response was to open it without hesitation, revealing a face etched with weariness.

Sunoo’s surprise quickly turned into alarm as he attempted to close the door, but Sunghoon was already through the threshold. Sunoo’s eyes widened in a mix of anger and fear, his hands going to the door, but Sunghoon’s presence was already in the apartment.

“What the hell!” Sunoo’s voice was a strained shout, filled with frustration.

Sunghoon, however, was focused and unyielding. He scanned the apartment and noticed the faint glow of a nightlight filtering from under a door down the hallway. Without hesitation, he moved towards it, pushing open the door to find Sunjin sleeping. The peaceful scene of the sleeping child did little to assuage the tension between them, but it gave Sunghoon a brief sense of relief. Sunjin was undisturbed, and Sunghoon knew he had a narrow window to address the issue.

Sunghoon’s gaze softened as he looked at the sleeping child. Sunjin’s tiny chest rose and fell with each breath, a symbol of the life and innocence that had become a battleground for Sunoo’s emotional turmoil. With a determined breath, Sunghoon stepped back into the main room and turned to face Sunoo, whose face was now a mask of defensive anger and betrayal.

He turned back to Sunoo, who was now trying to resist more forcefully. Sunghoon’s face was set in a grim determination. “We’re going to talk. I’m not leaving until we do.”

Sunoo attempted to fight against Sunghoon’s grip, but the strength of Sunghoon’s alpha nature was evident. The struggle was futile, and Sunoo’s resistance only seemed to make Sunghoon more resolute. Despite Sunoo’s protests, Sunghoon carefully guided him out of the apartment and into the hallway.

As they reached Sunghoon’s own apartment, Sunoo’s resistance intensified. “Stop! I don’t want to go with you!” Sunoo shouted, but Sunghoon remained focused, his resolve as unyielding as ever.

Once inside Sunghoon’s apartment, Sunghoon shut the door firmly behind them, blocking any potential escape. Sunoo was visibly distressed, his anger mounting. “What the hell!” he exclaimed, trying to push past Sunghoon. “Let me go home!”

Sunghoon’s face was a mask of frustration and determination. He knew he had to be firm. “We need to talk. I’ve had enough of your silence.”

Sunoo’s eyes flashed with hurt and defiance. “What is there to talk about? You think talking will change anything?”

Sunghoon’s heart ached at the finality in Sunoo’s tone. He took a deep breath, his voice softening but still edged with frustration. “I thought we were friends. We owe it to ourselves to at least try to understand what went wrong. I know what happened between us was a mistake. I was drunk, and I regret it, but you can’t just push me away like this.”

Sunoo’s face was flushed with anger. “I don’t want to talk."

Sunghoon’s patience was wearing thin, and his alpha instincts were driving him to push for resolution. He knew Sunoo was struggling, but he couldn’t accept being shut out entirely. “Why are you avoiding me? Is it because of your boyfriend? Is it because of your dead boyfriend that you can’t even talk to me?”

The accusation hung heavy in the air, and Sunoo’s reaction was immediate. His face contorted with a mix of fury and pain, and he raised his hand in a swift, forceful motion. The slap landed across Sunghoon’s face with a resounding crack, sending him stumbling back. Sunghoon’s cheek reddened from the impact, and he looked at Sunoo in shock, his heart pounding.

The room was thick with tension, each man grappling with their own emotions. Sunoo stood there, breathing heavily, his hands clenched at his sides. His anger was palpable, but so was his underlying sadness. Sunghoon’s own emotions were a tumultuous mix of regret and frustration.

As Sunghoon tried to process the sting of the slap, he noticed Sunoo making a move towards the door, trying to escape the confrontation. Driven by his alpha instincts and a deep-seated need to address the issue, Sunghoon acted decisively. He moved quickly, his strength allowing him to intercept Sunoo’s attempt to leave.

With a firm grip, Sunghoon gently but forcefully guided Sunoo away from the door. “We’re not done here. I need you to listen to me.”

Sunoo’s eyes were filled with a blend of anger and hurt. “I don’t want to hear it.”

Sunghoon’s voice was strained, the weight of his emotions evident. “We can’t just pretend this didn’t happen. I need you to understand that I care about you and want to work through this, even if you don’t.”

The silence that followed was heavy, charged with the weight of unresolved issues and raw emotions. Sunghoon’s alpha nature was driven by a need for resolution, but he also knew that forcing a conversation wasn’t a perfect solution. He needed to find a way to bridge the gap between them, to heal the wounds and rebuild their fractured connection.

Sunoo’s anger was slowly giving way to an exhausted resignation, his resistance faltering as he stood there, his gaze dropping to the floor. The confrontation had brought their unresolved issues to the surface, and the path to reconciliation seemed both daunting and uncertain.

“Just forget what happened, Sunghoon,” Sunoo said, his voice quivering and barely above a whisper, his eyes glistening with tears. The emotional strain of their situation was evident, each word carrying the weight of his anguish.

Sunghoon’s expression shifted from concern to a deep, emotional vulnerability as he took a step closer. “I like you. I really like you, Sunoo,” he confessed, his voice trembling with sincerity.

The confession hit Sunoo like a tidal wave. His chest heaved as he struggled to process the rush of conflicting emotions. The sudden realization of Sunghoon’s feelings both overwhelmed and terrified him. He felt a surge of panic, afraid of the intensity of his own response and the implications it carried.

Desperate to escape the turmoil within, Sunoo used every ounce of his strength to push Sunghoon away. The force of his push was enough to send Sunghoon stumbling back, causing him to fall heavily onto the floor. Sunoo wasted no time; he darted towards the door and fled Sunghoon’s apartment, leaving Sunghoon behind.

Sunghoon sat on the floor, stunned and heartbroken. The weight of his own emotions was crushing, and tears streamed down his face uncontrollably. The confession he had hoped would bring clarity and resolution now felt like a cruel twist of fate. He regretted his decision to confront Sunoo, wishing he could have stayed silent and allowed things to remain unspoken.

As he cried, Sunghoon reflected on his choices. He wished he had let Sunoo continue to avoid him, preserving the fragile semblance of normalcy. The pain of unspoken feelings and the raw emotion of the confrontation left him questioning whether confessing his feelings had been a mistake. The regret was palpable, and Sunghoon's heart ached with the realization that their relationship had reached a painful crossroads.

He felt as if he had been thrust into a storm of emotions, and now, in the aftermath of their encounter, he was left to grapple with the consequences of his actions. The hope for a future with Sunoo seemed distant and uncertain, overshadowed by the turmoil of their fractured connection.

Chapter 15: Missing

Notes:

I changed something in Chapter 10 and the tags too. Ni-ki's partner is no longer Heeseung; please re-read it to avoid confusion. Heeseung's character will not disappear; he will appear in the next chapters. And more characters to come. I decided to continue this story because I noticed people was reading it and I wanted to write again. I'll try to complete the next chapter now, because I will be busy, school starts next week. I'm in my first year of college and want to focus on that, so I may not update as frequently. Thank you to those who are reading. Just a short update. Thank youuu.

Chapter Text

Sunoo carefully arranged Sunjin's belongings, the gentle hum of his movements a comforting backdrop to their routine. Today was another of their frequent visits to Jake’s grave, a tradition that had grown into a daily ritual for them.

It was now three in the afternoon, and Sunoo had planned for a longer stay today. They intended to be at the grave for at least two or three hours, allowing Sunoo time to talk to Jake. As he prepared, Sunoo packed a small, carefully prepared meal for them to enjoy while they were there. He included a few sandwiches, some fruit, and ofcourse sunjin's milk, ensuring they would have a comforting dinner amidst the quiet of the cemetery.

Sunoo’s movements were methodical as he checked and rechecked the items in the bag, ensuring nothing was forgotten. He dressed Sunjin in a soft blue pajama suit, chosen with care to keep him warm against the cooling afternoon air. The pastel blue of the pajamas contrasted gently with Sunjin’s rosy cheeks. Sunoo himself wore a white shirt under a beige cardigan, paired with shorts, balancing comfort.

With Sunjin securely in his arms and the bag slung over his shoulder.

As he opened the door to leave, he couldn't help but notice the stillness of the hallway. It had been a while since he last saw Sunghoon, who had been absent since their last confrontation, almost three weeks. The sight of Sunghoon’s apartment, now silent and untouched, stirred a mix of emotions in Sunoo. He wondered if Sunghoon had moved away.

Shaking off the thought, Sunoo focused on the task at hand. He and Sunjin had their own path to follow. With a deep breath, Sunoo stepped out of the apartment, the door closing softly behind him as he made his way to the cemetery.

As they reached Jake's grave, the soft afternoon light bathed the area in a gentle, comforting glow. Sunoo carefully unpacked the items he had brought: a soft, plaid blanket, and a small basket with some simple, sunjin's milk and homemade snacks and fruits. He spread the blanket with deliberate care, smoothing out every wrinkle as if ensuring that every detail was perfect for their visit.

Sunjin, now accustomed to these sacred outings, settled beside his father without a word. His presence, small yet significant, was a source of comfort and solace. Sunoo sat down beside him.

The silence was punctuated by Sunjin’s innocent voice. “Papa, daddy,” he said, pointing towards the grave. His emerging language skills were marked by the tender way he referred to Sunoo as "Papa" and Jake as "Daddy." Sunoo’s heart ached with a bittersweet pride. The sight of Sunjin’s finger pointing towards the gravestone was a poignant reminder of Jake’s enduring place in their lives. ‘Look, Daddy, Sunjin knows you well,’ Sunoo thought, his heart aching as he witnessed his son’s growing recognition and understanding.

“Hi again, Daddy,” Sunoo murmured, speaking to the gravestone as if Jake could hear his words through the earth that separated them. “Sunjin and I miss you so much. That’s why we come here so often. It’s our way of staying close to you.” His voice was tender, yet carried the weight of his enduring love and sorrow.

He paused for a moment, his gaze lingering on the engraved name. “I’m saving up, remember? Just like we promised. The house you bought for us—once I’ve saved enough, Sunjin and I will go back. We’ll return to that place, our home, where we shared so many happy memories.” His words were a solemn vow, a promise to honor Jake’s memory and their past life together.

The sight of Sunjin, growing so quickly, was both a source of joy and heartbreak. “It’s so hard to see how fast Sunjin is growing. I wish you could be here to watch him. I hope you’re watching over him, Jake. He’s growing up so fast, and it hurts to think you’re not here to see it.” Sunoo’s voice trembled with the pain of lost opportunities and unfulfilled dreams.

He reached out to gently touch the gravestone, as if trying to bridge the gap between the living and the departed. “Sunjin is learning so much. He’s incredibly smart, and I’m planning to send him to school when he’s three and a half. He’ll be ready, and I want him to have every opportunity to succeed, just like we always hoped.”

Sunoo’s thoughts turned to Sunghoon, the friend who had become an unexpected part of their lives. “Do you remember the friend I mentioned? His name is Sunghoon. He’s been around a lot lately, and... things have become a bit complicated. I’m not sure if I told you everything before, but it’s been challenging.”

He sighed softly, a rueful smile playing at his lips. “Sunghoon confessed his feelings to me. He said he likes me, but I told him it wasn’t possible. I love you, Jake. I love you more than words can express... forev- I love you," His voice faltered, caught between the weight of his love for Jake and the complexity of his current feelings.

Sunoo looked at the grave with a mixture of sadness and resolve. “Always remember, Sunjin and I are always here, keeping you in our hearts.” He turned to look at Sunjin, but a cold wave of panic washed over him when he realized that his son was no longer by his side.

“Sunjin?” Sunoo’s voice was sharp with alarm as he scanned the surrounding area. His heart pounded in his chest as he called out for his son, “Sunjin!” The familiar, comforting routine of their visit had suddenly turned into a scene of mounting dread. Sunoo’s breaths came in quick, uneven bursts as he searched frantically, his mind racing with fear and concern.

Chapter Text

Sunoo is already at the entrance of the cemetery. He was so panicked, he also asked the guards there for help. He started crying, he didn't know what to do. Because he was talking to Jake's grave, he didn't realize that Sunjin had left his side.

Sunoo stood at the entrance of the cemetery, his heart racing and breaths coming in ragged gasps. Panic had overtaken him completely; he could barely think straight. As he approached the guards stationed at the entrance, he frantically waved his hands, trying to get their attention. His voice cracked with desperation as he explained, “My son, Sunjin—he’s missing. Please, you have to help me find him. I can’t find him anywhere. He's still one year old. He's still a baby."

The guards, recognizing the urgency in his voice, quickly sprang into action. They began to spread out, scanning the cemetery grounds for any sign of the little boy. Sunoo, meanwhile, was consumed by a whirlwind of fear and guilt. He had been so engrossed in talking to Jake’s grave, pouring out his heart and making promises, that he hadn’t realized Sunjin had left his side. The realization hit him with a crushing weight of regret.

Sunoo’s tears flowed freely now, mingling with the sweat on his face. His hands shook uncontrollably as he clutched at his chest, trying to steady himself. He paced back and forth, calling out Sunjin’s name over and over. “Sunjin! Sunjin, where are you?” His voice was filled with anguish, each cry more desperate than the last.

The cemetery, once a place of quiet solace, now felt like an endless maze. Every shadow seemed to loom ominously, and the silence was deafening. Sunoo’s mind raced with every worst-case scenario, his fear for Sunjin’s safety growing with every passing second.

One of the guards approached him, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “We’re searching the area thoroughly. We’ll find him. Just try to stay calm.” The guard’s words offered little comfort as Sunoo struggled to control his rising panic.

The cemetery’s vastness felt overwhelming, each grave and pathway blending into a seemingly endless sea of stone. Sunoo’s hope waned with each passing moment, the silence broken only by the occasional crackle of the guards’ radios and the distant murmur of concerned onlookers.

Sunoo’s eyes were red from crying and his shoulders slumped with fatigue, but his determination remained unshaken. “Please, we have to keep looking,” he pleaded with the guards. “Sunjin is out there, and I need to find him. I can’t stop until he’s safe.”

Despite the guards' reassurances and their continued search efforts, Sunoo’s anxiety remained palpable.

As he wandered deeper into the cemetery, Sunoo’s thoughts were a chaotic jumble of fear and hope. The fading light of day and the growing chill in the air only added to the urgency of finding Sunjin.

As Sunoo continued his frantic search through the vast cemetery, the quiet, unsettling atmosphere seemed to close in on him, magnifying his anxiety. The faint, slightly sour scent of bubblegum that had once been a symbol of his gentle, kind nature now hinted at his stress and fear. The once comforting aroma had turned into a signal of his deepening worry.

Despite the guards’ repeated insistence that he take a moment to rest, Sunoo pressed on, his eyes scanning every corner of the cemetery in desperate hope. His movements were frantic, his heart pounding in his chest as he called out for Sunjin. The serenity of the cemetery, usually a place of peace, felt oppressive and distant, making every moment of the search feel even more agonizing.

Just as his distress seemed unbearable, a guard approached Sunoo with a look of empathy. “Sir, you need to take a break. You’re clearly overwhelmed, and we’re still searching for your son,” the guard said gently, placing a reassuring hand on Sunoo’s shoulder.

Before Sunoo could respond, he noticed a woman standing beside the guard, holding Sunjin securely in her arms. The sight of Sunjin, safe and unharmed, sent a wave of relief crashing over Sunoo. He rushed toward them, his tears flowing freely as he reached out for his son. “Sunjin!” he cried out, his voice choked with emotion. “Sunjin, I’m so sorry!”

The woman, her demeanor calm and kind, gently handed Sunjin over. “I found him near the fish pond by the entrance,” she said. “He was alone, so I took him with me. I saw some guards and thought it best to hand him over to them. I’m glad they were able to find you.”

Sunoo’s gratitude was palpable. His tears continued to flow, but now they were mixed with relief. “Thank you so much,” he said, his voice trembling. “I can’t express how grateful I am.” He turned to the guards who had assisted in the search, thanking them as they began to leave. Their help had been invaluable, and their departure left Sunoo with a sense of profound appreciation.

With Sunjin now safely in his arms, Sunoo felt a wave of calm begin to wash over him. He looked down at his son, who had been quiet but attentive throughout the ordeal. Sunjin’s innocent voice broke the silence. “Papa,” he said, his small hand reaching up to touch Sunoo’s cheek.

Sunoo’s heart swelled with a mixture of love and relief. He smiled through his tears, feeling a deep sense of connection with his son. “Yes, it’s Papa,” he whispered, his voice soothing. The bond between them felt stronger than ever in that moment of reunion.

Turning his attention back to the woman who had helped him, Sunoo took a moment to truly see her. She was tall and striking, with flowing blonde hair and a peach-colored strap satin short dress that seemed to glow in the afternoon light. Her presence was almost ethereal, like an angel sent to guide him through this difficult moment.

“Thank you so much for everything,” Sunoo said sincerely, his voice steadying as he spoke. “I don’t know what I would have done if Sunjin hadn’t been found.”

The woman’s smile was warm and understanding. “It’s no problem at all. This is actually the second time I’ve seen a child alone here. It’s surprising how captivated they can be by the fish,” she said, laughing softly. “I’m Park Chaeyoung, but you can call me Rosé.”

Sunoo accepted her handshake, feeling a sense of camaraderie. “I’m Kim Sunoo, and this is Sunjin. Thank you again, Rosé. You’ve been a big help.”

Rosé’s smile widened. “You don’t need to keep thanking me. Your baby is adorable.” She glanced at her watch, a hint of regret in her eyes. “Oh, I have to get going now. But... can I get your number? I’d love to stay in touch and maybe be friends.”

Sunoo felt a mix of shyness and gratitude. “Sure,” he said, handing over his number. “I’d like that.”

Rosé smiled warmly as she took the number. “Great! I’ll call you soon. Bye for now, Sunoo. Bye, baby Sunjin!”

As Rosé walked away, Sunoo looked down at Sunjin, who was quietly resting in his arms. “I guess we’ve made a new friend, baby,” he said softly, brushing a stray lock of hair from Sunjin’s forehead. The day’s events had been overwhelming, but the kindness of a stranger had provided a glimmer of hope.

Realizing the time, Sunoo glanced at his watch. It was 5:30 PM. The late hour reminded him that they needed to return to Jake’s grave.

As they arrived back at Jake’s grave, Sunoo spoke softly to the gravestone. “Jake, daddy, it’s time for us to go. I didn’t realize how late it had gotten, and I’m so sorry for what happened with Sunjin. I promise it won’t happen again. We love you, Daddy. Goodbye.”

With those heartfelt words, Sunoo packed up their things and, holding Sunjin close, made his way back home.

Chapter Text

It’s been a few days since Sunoo started chatting with Rosé via message, and he feels they’ve grown quite close. Rosé has been incredibly kind and friendly, and their conversations have been a bright spot in his days. They had planned to meet today, and Rosé mentioned she’d bring her boyfriend along to introduce Sunoo as a new friend, which made Sunoo both excited and a bit nervous.

As Sunoo prepared for their meeting, his thoughts wandered unexpectedly to Sunghoon. It had been quite a while since he last saw Sunghoon, and Sunoo began to wonder if he might have moved away from the apartment next door. The thought made him feel a pang of sadness. Sunghoon had been such a supportive friend, and it was disheartening to think that they might never see each other again. Despite understanding why Sunghoon might distance himself—after all, Sunoo had rejected his feelings—he couldn’t shake the feeling of loss. Sunghoon had been a significant source of help and comfort, not just to him but also to Sunjin.

Shaking off the melancholic thoughts, Sunoo turned his attention back to preparing for the meeting. He carefully dressed Sunjin in a sky blue polo shirt and white denim shorts—an outfit gifted by Sunghoon on Sunjin’s birthday. It was a sweet reminder of Sunghoon’s kindness. Sunoo wore a matching sky blue polo shirt and white trousers, wanting to coordinate with Sunjin for the occasion.

With everything packed and ready, Sunoo glanced at the clock. It was almost five in the afternoon, he was looking forward to meet Rosé again.

It was nearly five-thirty in the afternoon when Sunoo and Sunjin arrived at the mall, the agreed-upon meeting spot. Sunoo glanced at his phone, where Rosé had messaged to let him know they had arrived. Eager to find them, Sunoo began scanning the crowd.

As he walked through the bustling mall, Sunoo’s eyes finally landed on Rosé and her boyfriend. They were holding hands, and Rosé looked elegant in a black sling dress. Her boyfriend complemented her look in a black long-sleeve polo and black trousers. With a smile of relief and anticipation, Sunoo made his way toward them, ready to make new connections and enjoy the evening.

“Sunoo! Sunjin!” Rosé called out with a bright and welcoming smile as she spotted them in the crowd. She quickly released her boyfriend’s hand and made her way toward Sunoo and Sunjin with an excited pace.

“Rosé!” Sunoo greeted, his face lighting up with happiness. Rosé reached them and enveloped both Sunoo and Sunjin in a warm hug. The embrace was both heartfelt and reassuring, and it took a moment for Sunoo to notice that Rosé’s boyfriend was now standing beside them, patiently waiting.

“Oh, let me introduce you properly,” Rosé said, stepping back slightly and beaming. “Sunoo, this is my boyfriend, Heeseung. Heeseung, this is Sunoo, the friend I’ve been telling you about.” Rosé’s excitement was palpable as she made the introductions.

Heeseung extended his hand for a handshake, his smile genuine. “Heeseung. Nice to meet you, Sunoo.”

Sunoo shook Heeseung’s hand, trying to match his friendly demeanor. “I’m Sunoo. Nice to meet you too.”

Heeseung studied Sunoo with a thoughtful expression. “Your name sounds familiar. Have we met before?”

Sunoo tilted his head slightly, feeling a bit shy under Heeseung’s scrutiny. “Um, I don’t think so. I don’t believe we’ve met before.”

Heeseung’s smile remained calm and friendly. “Maybe I’ve just heard your name. Sometimes names stick in your mind.”

Rosé, clearly delighted with the introductions, turned to her boyfriend and said, “And this is Sunjin, his baby. Isn’t he the cutest?” She smiled down at Sunjin, who was peering curiously at the new faces around him.

Heeseung looked at Sunjin with a warm expression and nodded in agreement. “He is adorable,” he said, his voice filled with genuine affection.

Sunoo felt a sense of relief and comfort in the easy interaction between them. It was clear that Rosé and Heeseung were a well-matched couple, and their friendliness put him at ease. “So, where are we going to eat?” he asked, ready to move on to the next part of their evening.

“Oh, Heeseung has found a fantastic restaurant nearby,” Rosé replied with enthusiasm. “It’s quite popular because the food is supposed to be really delicious. Shall we head there now?”

Heeseung gave a small, affirming nod as Rosé took his arm. They began walking together, and Sunoo followed alongside them, holding Sunjin’s hand.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Sunoo's heart skipped a beat. The moment he stepped inside, he recognized the familiar décor and the welcoming ambiance of the place. It was the very restaurant where he, Sunjin, and Sunghoon had spent many delightful dinners together. The memory of those evenings filled him with a bittersweet nostalgia, a longing for the simpler, happier times they had shared. He quickly pushed the sentiment aside, reminding himself that tonight was about forging with Rosé and Heeseung, not to relapse.

As they took their seats and settled in, Sunoo observed the lively interaction around the table. The conversation flowed smoothly, punctuated by laughter and shared stories. Heeseung appeared to be genuinely enjoying himself, particularly in his interactions with Sunjin, who was as talkative as ever. Sunjin’s cheerful babbling seemed to amuse Heeseung, who responded with genuine interest and affection.

Rosé was clearly pleased with how things were going. She casually mentioned to Sunoo that she and Heeseung had been together for seven years. Sunoo couldn’t help but wonder about their relationship—why they hadn’t taken the next step towards marriage, bonding, or starting a family. The thought lingered in his mind, but he quickly dismissed it. It was not his place to judge or question their personal choices; their path was theirs to navigate.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and Sunoo tried to focus on enjoying the moment. However, his reverie was interrupted when he felt a small tap on his side. Looking down, he saw Sunjin sitting beside him, his little face alight with curiosity. Sunjin was pointing excitedly at something outside the restaurant and mumbling, “Hun, hun.” Though Sunoo couldn’t quite understand what his son was trying to say, he could see the fascination in Sunjin’s eyes.

“What is it, baby?” Sunoo asked gently, but Sunjin continued to point and gaze out the window, his attention fully captured by whatever he saw. Sunoo decided to let Sunjin enjoy the view, choosing to continue chatting with Rosé and Heeseung. He made sure to feed Sunjin some of his meal as they conversed, making the experience enjoyable for everyone.

After their meal, the group decided to take a leisurely stroll around the mall. The evening air was crisp and refreshing, a pleasant change from the warmth of the restaurant. However, as time passed, it became apparent that it was getting late. Sunjin had fallen asleep in Sunoo’s arms, his tiny body curled up comfortably against his father’s shoulder.

Rosé noticed the sleeping baby and looked at Sunoo with concern. “Sunoo, we’ll give you a ride home. Heeseung brought his car, and it’s no trouble at all.”

“Oh, there’s no need,” Sunoo replied with a reassuring smile. “I can manage. Sunjin and I will take the taxi Besides, my apartment is just close from here.”

“But—” Rosé began to protest, but Sunoo gently cut her off.

“There’s really no need,” he said, his tone firm yet friendly. “Sunjin and I need to get going. It’s been a long day, bye!” He waved to Rosé and Heeseung, who both returned the gesture with warm smiles.

As Sunoo walked away, Sunjin nestled securely in his arms, he felt a deep sense of contentment. The evening had been a heartwarming experience. “Sunjin, baby,” he thought, looking down at his sleeping son, “we made some new friends today.”

Notes:

In the Omegaverse, bonding refers to the profound emotional and biological connection established between an Alpha and an Omega. This bond typically involves forming a deep, lasting relationship through mutual affection, physical marking or claiming, and shared experiences, often reinforced by mating..

Chapter Text

Sunoo woke up to the gentle movements beside him, the soft rustling of the blanket. He blinked a few times, rubbing his eyes to clear the sleep. As he slowly opened them, his gaze immediately landed on Sunjin, who was sitting beside him, staring up with wide eyes, his small legs dangling off the edge of the bed. It seemed like his little one had woken up early today, which was unusual for the usually late-riser.

"Hi, baby!" Sunoo greeted, his voice still thick with sleep. He managed a small smile, though his eyes were still half-lidded, and he yawned softly.

Sunjin’s response was a soft giggle as he reached up to pat his father's face, still waking up himself but clearly happy to see Sunoo. His little hands were warm and comforting against Sunoo's skin, a simple gesture that made his heart swell.

“Good morning, Sunjin,” Sunoo murmured, brushing some of Sunjin's hair from his forehead before getting out of bed. The early morning light filtered through the window, and Sunoo stretched, feeling the stiffness in his muscles as he tried to shake off the remnants of sleep.

He moved around the apartment, tidying up quickly while Sunjin sat nearby, occasionally reaching for a toy or babbling happily. Sunoo worked with an efficient rhythm—he had gotten used to doing everything in the apartment as quickly and quietly as possible, so it would be easy to get Sunjin ready for the day.

Once he finished tidying up, Sunoo prepared a simple breakfast for Sunjin, a bowl of mashed fruit and cereal. He smiled as he watched his son eagerly dig in, his little hands gripping the spoon with determination. As he sat down to join him, Sunoo noticed the empty pantry and refrigerator. Their supplies were running low, and it was clear they would need a grocery run soon.

After making sure Sunjin was fed and content, Sunoo decided it was time to go. "How about we go pick up some groceries, baby? We need to restock the kitchen," he said softly, gently lifting Sunjin into his arms.

Sunjin babbled in response, clearly excited by the prospect of going out, his eyes bright as they headed out of the apartment. Sunoo grabbed his keys and locked the door behind them before they left for the store.

The familiar hum of the grocery store surrounded Sunoo as he made his way through the aisles with Sunjin. The soft clatter of shopping carts, the chatter of other shoppers—it all seemed distant to him. Sunoo’s mind was elsewhere, focused on the task at hand: getting groceries for the week. He wasn’t expecting anything out of the ordinary.

But as they turned a corner, Sunoo froze. His gaze landed on a familiar figure at the end of the aisle—Sunghoon. The sight of him sent a jolt through Sunoo’s chest. The memories of their last encounter rushed back in a wave. The awkward silence, the things left unsaid, the rejection... all of it came flooding back. Sunoo’s stomach tightened, and he immediately felt the weight of the unspoken words between them.

He quickly looked away, trying to keep his composure. He couldn’t afford to let Sunghoon see him uncomfortable—not now. But before Sunoo could make a clean getaway, Sunjin, who had been babbling happily in his arms, suddenly caught sight of Sunghoon and squealed in delight.

“Hun! Hun!” Sunjin called out, pointing toward Sunghoon with his tiny hands. His voice was full of innocent joy, the pure recognition of a person he remembered fondly.

Sunoo’s heart sank. He hadn’t realized how much Sunjin had remembered about Sunghoon. The child’s face lit up with excitement, and his little feet kicked happily in Sunoo’s arms. He wanted to go to him. Sunoo’s throat tightened, his grip on the cart tightening in response. His heart raced, and he felt a sudden rush of frustration. Why now? Why couldn’t things just be easier?

Trying his best to ignore the situation, Sunoo lowered his gaze and quickly began walking in the opposite direction, hoping that Sunghoon wouldn’t notice them. He didn’t want to deal with him—not today. Not after everything that had happened.

But of course, it didn’t work. Sunghoon’s voice called out softly from behind them. “Sunoo.”

The sound of his name was like a weight pressing down on Sunoo’s chest. He didn’t stop, didn’t turn around. His steps quickened as he tried to distance himself from the scene.

Sunjin, oblivious to the tension, continued to reach out toward Sunghoon, his little face full of excitement. “Hun, play!” he said, his voice high-pitched with happiness.

Sunoo’s jaw clenched. He could feel Sunghoon’s gaze on him, but he didn’t dare acknowledge it. He wasn’t ready to face him—not yet. He wasn’t sure if he ever would be. The anger, the hurt, the confusion—it was all still there, simmering just beneath the surface. The thought of confronting it was too much.

He walked faster, hoping to get away from the moment. He could feel Sunghoon’s eyes on his back, but he refused to turn around. The last thing he wanted was another awkward conversation or another attempt at reconciliation. It wasn’t that he hated Sunghoon—far from it—but there was a distance between them now, one that couldn’t easily be bridged. Not when so much had been left unsaid, when everything felt broken.

As Sunoo pushed the cart down the aisle, Sunjin’s voice continued to call out, “Hun, play!” But Sunoo couldn’t bring himself to stop, to let Sunjin interact with Sunghoon. It would only make things harder.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Sunoo reached the checkout, his heart still pounding in his chest. He felt a mixture of relief and guilt—relief that he had escaped the moment, but guilt for avoiding Sunghoon and denying Sunjin the chance to see him again.

He quickly paid for the groceries and headed toward the exit. The weight of the encounter with Sunghoon lingered in the air, but Sunoo tried to push it aside. He had to focus on Sunjin, on the life they were building together. He couldn’t afford to dwell on the past.

As he stepped out into the fresh air, Sunjin squirmed in his arms, still calling out for Sunghoon. Sunoo’s chest tightened. He couldn’t shake the feeling that things would never be the same with Sunghoon—he didn’t know if they could be.

But for now, all he could do was keep walking, away from the past and toward a future that was uncertain, yet full of hope.

It was another ordinary morning in Sunoo's life. He was cleaning his apartment, taking care of the little things that always seemed to pile up. As he was about to toss the trash, something outside caught his attention. At first, it seemed like a typical morning-a few neighbors going about their business. But then his heart nearly stopped when his eyes landed on a familiar figure: Ni-ki, Sunghoon's younger brother, standing just a few steps from his door, near the entrance to Sunghoon's apartment.

Sunoo hadn't expected to see Ni-ki today. He hadn't seen Sunghoon in a while, and it was the absence of Sunghoon that made his heart tighten in his chest. Sunghoon had stopped coming home to his apartment. Sunoo couldn't help but wonder if he had really moved out for good. But seeing Ni- ki here-of all places-brought everything rushing back, even though he wasn't prepared for it.

And Ni-ki wasn't alone.

Sunoo froze, his breath catching in his throat. His pulse quickened as he realized that Ni-ki was locked in a passionate kiss with someone-someone who was also pressing their body close to his. Sunoo's heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, he felt completely trapped in the situation, unable to look away.

The sound of Ni-ki's voice broke through the silence. "Babe!" he scolded lightly, but with a hint of laughter. "What the hell? We're outside, not in your bedroom. Can you lower your libido for a second?"

Sunoo's face flushed a deep crimson, his heart pounding in his chest as he involuntarily leaned forward, barely able to tear his eyes away from the scene. He hadn't meant to spy on them, but the words were too vivid, too raw to ignore.

The other person, a man who Sunoo assumed was Junghwan, Ni-ki's boyfriend, responded in a playful, teasing tone. "Baby, I miss you," Junghwan purred, his voice dripping with affection.

Ni-ki rolled his eyes, but the smile on his face said it all. "We were just together last night, Junghwan. We did 69, and you ate me out. How is that not enough for you?"

Sunoo's face turned even redder, his stomach lurching with both surprise and discomfort. The explicit nature of their conversation sent waves of unease through him, and he didn't know where to look, how to handle the situation, or even if he should leave. But before he could even move, Ni-ki's eyes landed on him, and their gazes locked.

Time seemed to freeze.

Ni-ki's face drained of color, his expression one of pure shock. He quickly pulled back from Junghwan, but the damage was already done. His voice came out in an awkward stammer. "Oh... uh, Hi... Sunoo... didn't see you there," he muttered, a deep blush spreading across his cheeks.

Sunoo's entire body felt like it was on fire. He could feel his own heart pounding in his chest as if it were trying to escape. He couldn't move-couldn't speak. His mind was racing, but the only thing he could think to do was raise his hand in a half-hearted wave. "I-I didn't mean to... uh... interrupt..." His voice was barely above a whisper, his words almost swallowed by the awkwardness of the moment.

Ni-ki, still clearly embarrassed, glanced over at Junghwan, who was smirking, clearly unfazed by the situation. He offered Sunoo a casual nod, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. "Hey, no worries, man. Didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," Junghwan said with a laid-back tone, as if he hadn't just been talking about their incredibly intimate activities.

But for Sunoo, the discomfort was unbearable. He tried to clear his throat, but it only made things worse. The words just wouldn't come. "I... I should go," he finally managed to say, his voice strained. Without waiting for a response, he quickly turned around and hurried back into his apartment, closing the door behind him with a soft thud.

Once inside, Sunoo leaned against the door, feeling his entire body tremble with a mixture of embarrassment and disbelief. He could still hear the faint laughter of Ni-ki and Junghwan from the hallway, but it only made him feel more isolated. He closed his eyes, pressing a hand to his forehead as if trying to make sense of what had just happened.

It was already nine in the evening when Sunoo decided to call his friend Rosé. He had put Sunjin to sleep and finished everything he needed to do for the day. It had been an exhausting day, and the only thing he wanted was to unwind by talking to a friend. He grabbed his phone and dialed Rosé’s number.

The first few rings went unanswered. He tried again, and again, but still no response. By the time he was almost ready to give up, feeling a little frustrated, the phone finally picked up.

“Ros-” he began, a smile already forming on his lips, but before he could finish, he froze at the sound that came through the phone.

“Nghhh...” The soft, breathy sound was enough to stop him in his tracks. His brow furrowed as he tried to make sense of it. Then, just as he was about to ask who it was, the next sound came through clearer.

“Mmmm… Heeseung... Faster…”

Sunoo’s face immediately turned a deep shade of red, and he quickly slapped his hand over his mouth, his mind racing. His eyes widened in realization of what he had just heard. The unmistakable sounds of intimacy. His heart pounded in his chest, and his body went rigid as his mind processed what was happening.

He didn’t even hesitate to end the call. Without another thought, he swiftly pressed the end button, the shock still lingering on his face.

What the hell is happening today? Sunoo thought, his hands trembling slightly. He couldn’t believe it. He had just unintentionally overheard something he definitely wasn’t meant to hear. His thoughts swirled with confusion and embarrassment. He couldn’t shake off the image of what he’d heard—the intimate sounds of Rosé and Heeseung.

Chapter 19: Special Chapter

Summary:

What really happened with Rosé.

Chapter Text

The penthouse suite was a sanctuary of opulence, its floor-to-ceiling windows offering a panoramic view of the city skyline.

But the world outside might as well have ceased to exist for Rosé and Heeseung, their universe reduced to the plush carpet and the feverish heat between them.

The air was thick with the scent of their desire—a heady mix of sweat, musk, and the sweet tang of pheromones that clung to Rosé’s skin like a second layer.

She lay beneath Heeseung, her fair skin flushed, her wavy blonde hair fanned out like a halo around her head. Her body was a canvas of want, every curve and line etched with the raw, unfiltered hunger of an omega in heat.

Heeseung, the alpha, loomed above her, his broad shoulders casting a shadow over her delicate frame. His skin was flushed and glistening, his muscular chest rising and falling with the rhythm of his labored breaths.

There was no gentleness in his touch, only a primal, commanding force that demanded surrender.

Rosé arched her back, her nails digging into Heeseung’s shoulders as his fingers plunged deep into her core.

Her moans were loud, unapologetic, the kind that echoed through the room like a battle cry.

"Nghh.."

“Fuck, Heeseung, harder,” she gasped, her voice thick with need. Her body was a live wire, every nerve ending screaming for more.

Heeseung growled in response, a sound that was more animal than man. His lips crashed against hers in a bruising kiss, his tongue dominating, claiming.

“You’re mine, babe,” he whispered against her mouth, his breath hot and heavy. “Only mine.”

There was no room for doubt in his words, no space for hesitation. Rosé shivered at the declaration, her body responding to his ownership with a desperate ache.

She was his, and she wanted nothing more than to be claimed, marked, possessed. He pulled away, his dark eyes burning with desire, and pushed her onto the carpet.

Her hair spilled out around her like liquid gold, a stark contrast to the plush red rug beneath her.

“Spread your legs, Baby,” he commanded, his voice rough, edged with authority. She obeyed without question, her thighs parting to reveal the glistening evidence of her arousal.

Her fair skin was flushed, her nipples tight peaks against her pale chest. She was a vision of raw, unfiltered need, and Heeseung drank it in like a man starved for water.

He positioned himself between her thighs, his presence overwhelming, his scent overpowering. His cock was thick and hard, a testament to his primal instincts, and Rosé’s breath hitched as he thrust into her without warning.

Her body stretched around him, tight and wet, a perfect fit for his size. “Yes, baby, fuck me like you mean it!” she cried out, her voice a mix of pleasure and demand.

Heeseung’s hands gripped her hips, his fingers bruising as he pulled her onto him with each brutal thrust. The sound of skin slapping against skin filled the room, a rhythm as old as time itself.

Rosé wrapped her legs around his waist, her heels digging into his ass, urging him deeper.

“Harder, Heeseung, I’m close,” she panted, her breath hitching as her orgasm built like a storm on the horizon.

He leaned down, his lips brushing her ear, his breath a hot whisper against her skin.

“Cum for me, Baby. Scream my name.” His words were a command, a promise, and Rosé’s body obeyed without hesitation.

Her walls clenched around him, her release a tidal wave of pleasure that left her screaming his name.

“Heeseung! Fuck, Heeseung!” Her voice was raw, unfiltered, a testament to the intensity of their connection.

He followed, his release raw and primal, his growl echoing through the penthouse as he spilled himself deep inside her. His name was on her lips as they collapsed in a tangle of limbs, their hearts pounding in unison.

For a moment, there was only the sound of their ragged breaths, the world outside forgotten. Heeseung’s weight pressed her into the carpet, his body still trembling with the aftermath of their passion.

Rosé’s fingers traced the lines of his jaw, her touch gentle, worshipping.

“I love you, Rosé,” he murmured, his breath warm against her neck. His voice was softer now, the alpha’s edge blunted by the vulnerability of his confession. She smiled, her fingers tangling in his hair.

“I love you too, babe. Always.”

Their kisses softened, their bodies still connected, the world outside fading away. There was no alpha, no omega—just two souls intertwined, their love as wild and unyielding as the sex they’d just shared.

Heeseung’s lips brushed her forehead, his touch tender, a stark contrast to the brutality of their passion.

“You’re mine,” he whispered, his voice a promise, a vow. Rosé hummed in agreement, her body still buzzing with the aftermath of their climax. “Yours,” she echoed, her voice a soft surrender.

The penthouse was silent, the city outside a distant memory. In this moment, there was only them—their bodies, their hearts, their love. The carpet beneath them was a mess of sweat and desire, but they didn’t care.

They were lost in each other, their bond solidified through their intense, uninhibited connection. Heeseung’s fingers traced the curve of her hip, his touch gentle, reverent.

Rosé’s hand rested on his chest, her fingers splayed over his heart. They were a symphony of skin and breath, their love a melody that would never end.

As they lay there, the world slowly creeping back in, Rosé felt a sense of peace she hadn’t known existed. Heeseung’s presence was a constant, a force that grounded her, anchored her.

She was his, and he was hers, their love a fierce, unbreakable bond. Heeseung’s lips curved into a soft smile, his eyes never leaving hers.

“Forever,” he whispered, his voice a vow. Rosé nodded, her heart swelling with love. “Forever,” she agreed, her voice a promise.

And in that moment, they knew that nothing could ever tear them apart. Their love was as wild and unyielding as the sex they’d just shared, a force of nature that would endure for eternity.
