Work Text:

Yawning, Anti-Cosmo took his wife’s hand in his and nudged her gently.
“We shall retire for the night. It’s getting rather late.” He said gently.
Anti-Wanda nodded gently. Recently she had felt a lot more exhausted then usual and looked forward to sleeping almost every minute of the day. In unison the pair rose from the seat and stretched. Anti- cosmo lifted his wife up into his arms and began to float peacefully down the corridor. Anti-Wanda threw her arms around his neck and snuggled in the crook of his neck.

“I hopes I ain’t too heavy for ya,” she giggled. He shook his head with a grin.

”Of course not dear, however, you seem a little more… well… heavy lately. No offence of course”

She hesitated slightly and sighed.

“Naw s’okay, maybe is should cut down on my midnight sandwiches and…stuff.”

He looked into her eyes and brushed her lips with his, stopping briefly in the hall.
“No dear, it’s no problem. I enjoy you the way you are,” he paused looking at her unsure gaze, “even if you are gaining a little.”
She nodded her head slowly and gave him an uneasy grin.

“I can even prove it to you if you’d like?” he added.

She smiled and as he drew her into a kiss. He felt slight resistance from her but after a moment, she gave in, kissing furiously back. He forced his tongue into her mouth, tasting her dinner, as their saliva began to drip from their mouths. It wasn’t long before the two lost themselves to passion and the genius’ hand began to wander on his lover’s body. His hand glided under her shirt to her stomach…

Anti-Wanda cried out in fear causing Anti-Cosmo to jump.  Slowly she disengaged herself and looked sadly into his eyes.

“I’m…too tired. Maybe next time?”

Anti-Cosmo flinched, removing his hand from under her clothing. He sighed.

It hadn’t been the first time she’d pushed his passionate advances away recently. He was not a man to push or complain but it was very unlike her to deny him, he could tell she was as eager as he was but… but what? She’d gently push him off or roll away then apologies profusely. Even when she was the one who had initiated the whole act, she would still back down before it started. It was very unlike her, she wasn’t the Anti-Wanda that prowled every night and never took no for an answer. He wanted his wife back.

Anti-Cosmo bit his lip. “You said that last time, and the time before and-“

”I knows I’m sorry. I promise it’ll be next time. “

Anti-Cosmo nodded and continued their drift to the room. Though he would never acknowledge his true feelings, he knew it wasn't just the passion he was missing, it was her hugs, her random questions and ideas, her odd sayings and even, in a strange twisted way, her ability to distract him from his work. She had become terribly distanced lately, whether intentional or not, and it was really starting to get to him. He missed her.

”That's…okay dear. If you are not comfortable to frolic around tonight, I will not force you. I …understand” he muttered, trying to make his smile convincing. She saw straight through him and pulled him into a kiss again.

”Thanks.” She said, “I knows you aren’t happy about it but I promise yous I will make it worth while.”

She winked.

He nodded as he turned the final corridor. His back was beginning to ache and he quicker his pace again. She really was heavier than he remembered and though he loved her, he did wish she was lighter. For the sake of his poor back.

The pair stumbled into the master bedroom and Anti-Cosmo huffed as he rested Anti-Wanda down onto the bed. His back cracked as he stretched his arms, much to Anti-Wanda's concern. She eyed him with a concerned glare to which he shrugged, turning away to find his nightwear. She flopped back into the soft velvet covers, admiring how the moonlight Illuminated the beams and rafters above. Living in an ancient castle, there was always something new to look at and she greatly appreciated that. She may not have been the sharpest tool in the shed but she definitely had a keen eye for detail. The bed shifted as her husband collapsed next to her, joining her side once more. He rested his arms behind his head and stared away, lost in thought. He had wanted to ask her for so long but had felt it almost inappropriate and rude. God knew why. He had to ask her at some point, it was now or never-

She heard him clear his throat and fidget slightly beside her. She knew it meant he was going to ask something that caused his nerves to shiver, and resented it. She missed his serious talks yet tonight she was rather afraid. She didn’t want to talk, not yet.

“Are we okay?”

“whats you mean by that?”

”Like… are we still doing well together? You’ve been awfully distant lately and you haven’t told me why. Is it… something I did? Or said? Or…or are we just not close anymore-“

Her heart collapsed. Hearing her husband stutter and sniffle was a blow to her soul. To hear the anti-fairy rulers confidence crumble was enough to panic any anti-fairy, but to his partner it was as though the works was ending. She felt her mouth dry and no matter what she did, she couldn’t turn to face him. She reached out and grabbed his hand as a compromise to herself and exhaled deeply  , attempting to calm her growing fear. His warmth was somewhat of a comfort. She didn’t want to tell him, yet at some point she‘d have too.

“n-no it’s not you, its…it’s me. I dont loves you any less and I’m sorry I aint been around, I’m just… worried.“

”Worried about what?”

”Nothing much its just…ya know-“

”It’s my place to worry. Please… let me help-“

He twisted around and hugged her tightly, his body’s warmth making her flush. He rested his face on her shoulder, his breathe warm against her ear, and she felt him hook one leg around her.

“please let me help Clarice…” he whispered softly, “I know I can… please”

He began to run his hands up and down her front in reassurance.

Suddenly, she burst into tears, throwing herself into a ball away from him. It was too much, she couldn’t take it anymore. She loved him, she needed to tell him-

He sat up in deep distress and reached for her.

“Clarice, are you okay?! What did I say? I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to strike a sensitive topic, I’m sorry. Please, please, I didn’t mean it, I just-“

”I’m…p-pregnant!” She yelled woefully.

Anti-Cosmo froze.

The truth was out.

The two were sat on the bed, neither sure what to say.

“You’re-“

”Yes! And I’s sorry. I know you didn’t want any children and-and I didn’t knows what to do and… I.. i “

She choked back her sobs as he leaned closer.

“I…I-”

His gleeful expression caught her off guard, disturbing her speech.

It all made sense now, her weight, her paranoia. It frustrated him how he’d never considered before.
Carefully, Anti-Cosmo drew her into a kiss. After some resistance, he felt her give in and after some uncertainty, returned the hunger. He felt his tears run down his face, burning his cheeks, but couldn’t care less. He drew her into a tighter hug and kissed her harder. Nothing in the world could have made him a happier man and he wanted her to know that.

“You saint, you absolute blessing! Thank you! Thank you so much! You made me the happiest dark fay in the universe-“

”I…did?”

The tears were flowing from both pair of eyes, he wiped hers with his PJs sleeve then wiped his own away. He said nothing but gently placed his hand on her stomach. He felt her face burn with embarrassment and rested his forehead against hers.

“Do you mind if I…” he paused in slight embarrassment.

She smiled, shook her head and lifted her shirt to reveal her protruding abdomen. Anti-Cosmo raised his eyebrows in surprise.  He hadn’t excepted it to be so obvious, it was a mystery how it had been overseen so often. It looked as if his wife had swallowed a small basketball and he couldn’t believe he had never noticed it until now.

Gently, he ran his palm across her skin, feeling the moderate bump under his hand. He couldn't help grinning madly at the thought of his future son or daughter. He lowered his face down and brushed him lips against the bulging middle. Anti-Wanda giggled softly.

”That tickles.” She mumbled, pushing him away slightly.

“How far along?” He asked as he moved away, replacing his head against hers again.

”Abouts 7 months,”

“7 months? Almost halfway there. I must say dear, you have hidden this very well.”

”Well, I’s didn’t know till a month ago.” She said bashfully, her fears and worries were long gone. She sounded over the moon and excited once again. More importantly, she was herself again.

”Really?”

”yaw. I thought I was just eatin too much then I started gettin morning sickness. I was so excited ya know?”

He chuckled and nodded.

She winced slightly, sighed in slight pain,  then gave her husband an excited glare.

”yknow, I thinks someone wants to say hello,”

Anti-Cosmo blinked blankly as she guided his hands back to her stomach.

As his hand was placed against her, he felt the movement under his palm. He had felt his heir kicking . His grin spread from ear to ear as his face bloomed with blush.

“Hello to you too,” he whispered softly, “I’m Anti-Cosmo, your father. It’s nice to meet you.”

The fetus responded with a mighty kick which caused its mother to groan in pain. Anti-Cosmo chuckled.

“I can tell your going to be a trouble maker already, you’ll make a mighty little anti-fairy.”
