Chapter 1: Influences

Chapter Text

Petunia huffed as she watched her sister goofing off with a gaggle of girls and she snapped her book shut as her sister giggled as a few of the well known Gryffindor boys wandered by. She watched them with heated cheeks. She finally stood up to her group's protest, a muddled mix of Ravenclaws and Slytherins, and started towards them angrily.

“Lily!” She snapped at her sister who looked up where she was lounging over a lap of a fellow Gryffindor Girl. Lily just smiled at her and waved.

“Come for your weekly harassment of your sister?” A shaggy dark haired boy leaned over, Sirius Black. Based on his brother’s words it was a wonder he was able to still attend Hogwarts. Her lips grew thin at his words.

“Actually I have a bone to pick with you.” She plucked up at the boy. She heard a chuckle and glared at James and Peter as Remus knocked them both on the head. Lupin was the only one with any real sense out of the lot.

“Oi, What did I do?” James rubbed his head as he looked at Remus but Petunia just rolled her eyes.

“You lot are a right bad example for my sister! She should be studying instead of lollygagging around with all of you.” She looked at Lily who just gave her a warm smile, before Lily could speak Sirius was already chuckling a bit.

”Your sister is as bad as us!” He barked with laughter, “You should have seen her in herbology. She got Nancy Reese to eat the root of a mandrake but telling her it would make her breath smell better… it in fact did not!” He grinned as a few of the Gryffindors chuckled. Petunia’s jaw dropped as she looked at her sister.

“What? Nancy made fun of my hair…” She gave a meek smile and Petunia sighed but filled that information away for later.

“I mean I’d say I could be about the only one that could influence -“ James started but Petunia was tired of this already and waved a dismissive hand at him.

“You couldn’t influence a rock Potter.” Petunia sneered at him and Remus cracked a little bit of a smile while Sirius fought back a laugh. Even her sister and the others seemed impressed she had left James speechless. She flushed a bit and turned and headed back to her study group covering her face. A few of the spring blooms seemed to blossom in between Sirius and Lupin.
