Chapter Text
The sun beams down on the small playground where a small fuzzy monster and little blue crab girl are playing as their fathers watch them with hawk eyes, searching for one slip up so they can 'reasonably' yell and discipline them
But in the small world of the two kids, it's just them as they try to learn to enjoy each other's company as it seems their fathers keep putting them together.
"I really like your fur."
The little girl says so softly the boy next to her almost didn't hear her.
"Thank you... I guess.."
The small boy says, a bit confused since he hasn't spoken to a girl and his father hadn't told him how to act around one other than a gruff, "You be nice to her." so it came as a surprise when the little girl with one ocean blue eye suddenly jabbed him yelling "You're it!" before scuttling off on her six legs. The boy stood stunned a bit before trying to catch up to her, believing that girls were fragile and soft but when she almost knocked him down the third time, he started to crack a bit and actually start running after her. He found the little blue crab girl strange, but she seems fun to play with in the small boy's lonely life, so this is a nice change of pace.
"JOHNNY GET OVER HERE."
A sudden yell that poor Johnny Worthington is all too familiar with but not used to caused him to freeze as the little girl he pushed on the ground stays still as her father also yells out as he notices her pink bow on her head is dirty from falling on the ground. Johnny reluctantly, but obediently went over to his father, his head hung low, only causing his father to reprimand him for slouching.
"Charlotte we are leaving now."
Johnny hears the little girl's father say sternly as his father leads him to the car. Johnny then tries to get a last glance at little Charlotte but her father being large and wide got in the way as Johnny can only assume him grabbing Charlotte by her claw and taking her to their car.
As Johnny sits in the quiet car he tries to distract himself from the yelling he'll get when they get home, he looks out the window, watching the passing scenery and monsters. He then looks up at the blue sky, only reminding him of strange little Charlotte with one light blue eye, only causing him to wonder how a small little girl could be related to such a big, mean monster whose shell is a dark blue and covered in bumpy spikes. Then again, he thinks about how light his fur is compared to his father's, only worrying him that one day he might become his father, but he tries to bury those thoughts as he remembers little Charlotte's rambling when they were standing next to each other, almost making him laugh but he remembers his angry father is in front of him driving the car so the stays silent.
Even when his father pulls into the driveway of their large house he still thought of strange little Charlotte...
