Work Text:
"Shii-chan, you've not eaten anything since lunch! Want me to make you something?"
The grey haired girl doesn't look up once from her phone, sighing as she shuffles a little on the sofa.
"Not hungry."
Shizuku frowns. She knows her little sister can get engrossed in whatever she's doing, but she really should have some food. Maybe it's older sister senses, but she can just always tell that she's hungry, no matter what time it is. The blue haired girl chooses to ignore the fact that it's midnight and wraps her arms around Shiho's neck, hard enough to lock her in place but not so much that she's suffocating her.
"Come on, you have to eat something!!'
"Ugh— no, I'm not hungry!!", Shiho barely splutters out, but the sudden rumble of her stomach gives away the truth that she is in fact, very hungry.
The older girl giggles, pinching Shiho’s cheek a little.
“Ehe, you can’t lie to me, you know. What do you want to eat?”
The grey haired girl sighs; she knows all too well that when she’s like this, there’s absolutely no way she can push her sister off of her. Shizuku is always asking her if she’s hungry or if she’s thirsty or something of the sort, and especially when she is hungry right now, she’s not getting out of here without asking her to make something.
“Fine.... Um, i really don’t care, just make some egg or something...”
“Got it!”, Shizuku sings before ruffling her hair and going to turn on the stove and get a pan.
It's nothing much, just two eggs and some toast, but it's not like she could make anything big, and she doubts Shiho would be happy if she did anyway. A simple meal should be enough to make sure she falls asleep content!
She cracks both the eggs into a small bowl and whisks it with a fork while the pan heats, adding a bit of salt. She waits to add the pepper once the egg is cooked a little, sprinkling it with the pepper shaker.
Shizuku has always been good with multitasking, so it's no hard job for her to toast two slices of bread while the egg is cooking. She smiles to herself at the pleasant smell after it's done cooking at the sight of both the now scrambled egg and slices of toast laid out on a plate while she cleans everything up.
It all makes her hungry, but it's too late to make anything more for herself, right? Besides, she just cleaned the pan.... Really, she was more focused on making something for Shiho that she didn't realise she was extremely hungry until she saw how nice the food looked, but she'll manage.
What's most important is the fact that her little sister can eat and go to sleep soon; she's probably starving.
"Shii-chan, here you go!", the older girl chirps, setting the plate down on the table beside Shiho, to which the younger girl smiles, setting her phone down and thanking her before wolfing it down.
It's moments like these that Shizuku cherishes dearly, when, no matter how much Shiho might act indifferent to whether she does something for her or not, there's always that shine in her eyes anyway, giving away her contentment.
It's for that, for her little sister, that she would do anything for.
Unsurprisingly, the bassist quickly finishes the small meal, quickly saying another thanks and hugging Shizuku back when she throws herself onto her as a goodnight hug.
The light blue haired girl smiles.
She might as well go to sleep now, when the presence of her little sister isn't silently accompanying her anymore, and obviously, it's nearly one o'clock; she definitely needs her rest to be ready for tomorrow.
After brushing her teeth, showering, washing her face and doing her nightly skincare routine, Shizuku is finally ready to go to sleep.
She wouldn't feel like she could sleep if she didn't finish all of that, for some reason. Probably because it's become a habit now, which is a good thing, in her opinion.
But she still finds that she's laying in her futon, staring at the ceiling and willing her eyes to just close and let her fall unconscious. Shizuku tries tossing and turning, but it does nothing to help.
Why can't she sleep?
She feels clean, she did everything she needed to, she—
Her stomach grumbles.
Oh.
Well, that explains why she's unable to fall asleep.
And while it makes sense; she really is hungry, it still confuses her, because she's went to sleep on an empty stomach before, actually, she usually does, it's a better way to maintain her slim figure, so why does it hurt so much now?
Shizuku groans under her breath, curling up under the blankets and desperately trying to ignore the discomfort of her stomach screaming at her for food.
Please, she begs, just let me go to sleep.
And it shouldn't hurt, it shouldn't, because she always enjoyed the feeling of emptiness when she pressed a hand to her stomach, she always enjoyed the feeling of nothing being there, rid of anything dirty, just clean, clean, clean, clean—
But for some reason, she can't ignore how there are waves of nausea dancing up her throat formed from the hollowness of her digestive system, and she just wants to be sick, throw up air, throw up something, though there's nothing there to even be washed out.
The light blue haired girl slips out of her room and too the kitchen.
Surely some water will help.
She drank some tea earlier, just so that she could make the excuse that she was full from that so she couldn't eat anything.
It felt nice, it truly did, the warmth of the sugary solution down her throat and resting in the bottom of her stomach, even if just for a split second.
But it soon turned into that unpleasant, tingling feeling that made her want to throw up, that made her want to rip her skin out, a sensation she's slowly growing used to.
It's always confusing, how she feels sick, yet it also feels nice at the same time.
But Shizuku was never a doctor, and quite frankly, she didn't care because it didn't matter that much, did it?
It's not like she ate nothing, of course.
And it's not like it was affecting her stamina that much, was it?
So obviously, it's alright.
She'll just gulp some water down and lie down on her back.
Shizuku fills a glass with cold water halfway, drinking it with as little sound as possible so as not to wake up anyone else. If someone heard her, she was only getting water, it really wasn't a surprising thing, was it?
The blue haired girl doesn't realise her mistake until she can practically feel the liquid sloshing about deep in her gut; it dropped straight down uncomfortably, just as her chest did too when a soaring rush of pain caused her to hunch over and grab the counter with a hand and her stomach with another, biting her bottom lip to stop herself from whining in pain.
It was nothing short of excruciating.
It hurt, it hurt, it hurt, it hurt, it hurt, it kept hurting, it just kept hurting and hurting and—
Before she can even process what she's doing, she's fishing through the cupboards for something, anything, she needs food, she needs food, she needs it she needs it she needs it so badly—
But still as she finds the best thing to be some sprinkles, still as she pours out a handful and shoves them into her mouth, carelessly letting a couple fall and hit the ground with little plink plonk noises, the sugar on her tongue and the satisfaction that comes from it soon morphs into a sense of regret, a sense of dread, a shadow consuming her as the space in her insides is filled ever so slightly with the needless sugar.
There's no way somebody didn't hear her.
Her stomach is still burning, there's still barely anything there, she knows that all too well, but she can't find it in herself to eat anymore.
Shizuku dashes back to her room anyway at the sound of a small creak.
And she wraps her arms around herself and shuts her eyes tightly until eventually, finally, exhaustion takes over her.
