A Bad Batch

Summary:

Just some friends hanging out and (terribly) baking cookies :]

Notes:

I would like to say that this is my first ever piece of writing. And I am still learning :D

Work Text:

“Please don’t tell me you ate another plate.” Randi sighed from across the room.

Phosphorite scrubbed the dishes with scalding hot water as they listened to Randi scold Clouds for eating the third plate in the past hour.

Alien crackled beside him as they dried the dishes Phozzy handed to them. All but one eye focusing on the dishes. The last one was staring at him.

“We should be almost done with these dishes.” He told Alien. “Then we can start baking the cookies.” Alien sparked in response happily.

About two hours later. They had finished baking a batch of cookies.

“Well. at least Clouds has something else other than plates to eat now.” Phosphorite sighed. Looking at the burnt cookies in front of them.

Alien crackled a response and grabbed the sheet pan. Their head flared slightly and they headed to the living room where Randi had taken Clouds after the fifth plate was eaten.

Phosphorite followed after them. “Hey guys, we finished the cookies… they uh. Aren’t the best.”

Clouds snapped their head up to them and stood up from the couch. In the blink of an eye they were right next to Alien trying to grab the cookies from their hands. Alien raised the pan up above their head and out of Clouds’ reach. Phosphorite knew if they could Clouds would be pouting and giving Alien the biggest puppy dog eyes ever.

Alien crackled in sparks of laughter and stepped over to the coffee table in the middle of the room. Evading Clouds last attempt to snatch the pan from their claws, and setting the pan down onto the table.

Clouds immediately grabbed two burnt cookies and shoved them under its mask. Nodding enthusiastically and giving Phosphorite and Alien a thumbs up and shoving its hand in their faces.

Alien sparked happily and patted Clouds’ hand with something that resembled a smile.

“Eh, thank you Clouds. Glad you liked them.” Phosphorite grinned.

“They are quite charred aren’t they?” Randi chuckled, holding his head in his big paws. He sighed and chuckled again, “at least you didn’t burn down the kitchen this time.” He said with as much of a smile his stitched face could muster up.

Alien smiled and grabbed one of the more ashen cookies and ate it. Their head flared up. Whether or not it meant they liked it, Phosphorite wasn’t sure, and decided not to question it.

“Har har Randi. Very funny” It chuckled and rolled its eye. Sitting down on the couch next to Randi and grabbing a burnt cookie and taking a bite out of it. Hm. Not as bad as he thought it would be.

Clouds shoveled three more cookies under their mask and sat down on the other side of Randi with their legs pulled up to their chest.

Alien sparked a question and sat down to the right of Phosphorite. Careful not to burn him, or the couch.

“Yeah, a movie sounds good” Phosphorite grabbed the remote and turned on the first movie that popped up on the screen.

About 4 movies and 37 cookies later. It was 5am and everyone but Phosphorite was asleep.

The most recent Batman movie played on the tv. Serving as a background noise for Phosphorite’s drifting mind.

With a sigh Phozzy rested his head against the cushion. The couch was much bigger than a regular couch, Randi insisted on finding one that would fit Phosphite without it being uncomfortable. The memory of it made him smile.

“Oh stop being so stubborn!” Randi yelled. “Just let me get this for you. You deserve it”

Phosphorite looked at Randi’s button eyes and rolled his own. “Fine, fine. You can buy me the ridiculously large couch. Whatever.” Phozzy huffed.

Randi’s mouth perked up. “Ay. Thank you Phosphorite.” Randi said with sincerity. And then he added.” It seems you’ve finally come to your senses” He joked.

“Har har. That’s sooo funny Randi” Phosphorite chuckled.

Phosphorite shifted its position and curled over its friends more. Randi cuddled up right next to him, with his head in his arms. He was laying on one of Phozzy’s wings and it was a little uncomfortable but that was okay.

Clouds was leaning against Randi with their head on top of Randi’s upper back and their legs perched up on the armrest. He could never understand how they would be comfortable in a position like that but Phozzy has learned not to question Clouds anymore.

Alien curled against Phosphorite’s back with their legs pulled up to their chest. They had put on their fire resistant hoodie after the second movie and had the hood pulled over their head so they could lean against Phosphorite without heating up his plastic body.

Phosphorite smiled at his friends. All curled up on his couch together. Passed out from eating too many cookies and popcorn, late at night, watching movies until the sunrise.

He looked down at Alien. His friends flame sparking in content with a smile. Phosphorite’s heart warmed at the sight and he snuggled Alien closer to him.

He looked over to Clouds and shifted them a little in a way he hoped was more comfortable. He rested his claws on both of their stomachs and looked up at the ceiling with a sigh.

Phosphorite’s mind drifted to the people cuddled up next to him. Memories of the day passing through his mind.

Clouds attempting to eat the lamp and the only thing that stopped them was Randi throwing his head at them.

Alien mumbling a song under their breath.

Phosphorite being the only one who knew what song it was.

Randi attempting to sing with them and failing miserably.

Alien cheering him up by putting the song on the radio and dancing with him and Clouds while Phosphorite dug through the pantry.

The smell of blood and feathers and old dust being in the air. The smells that comforted Phosphorite when he went to sleep.

The missing items around the house that sometimes turned up and sometimes didn’t.

The pieces of fluff in between the furniture and under the table and chairs.

The blood stains that were almost everywhere in the house.

All the little things his friends left behind. The things that made it home.

With a content sigh Phosphorite curled each of his tails around one of his friends legs.

And as the sun started to peek through the curtains. Phosphorite closed his eye. And drifted off to sleep
