Work Text:
Wade had an obsession with a lot of things.
For example, there were chimichangas, Pinkie Pie memes (Logan still wasn’t sure what that was), calling Logan absurd nicknames, teasing Logan, just Logan in general. He was very obsessed with Logan, But one of his obsessions, was bracelets. And now that Logan had moved in, he was a victim of this obsession.
Almost every day he’d walk into the living room only to find beads strewn across the floor, with a very sheepish Wade sitting in the middle of them.
Because of this, Logan ended up with many bracelets on his wrist. He had about five on right now. His real collection was well into double digits, but these were the ones Wade deemed important enough to stay on at all times.
One had pink beads and said ‘BBF’ which Wade told him stood for ‘Best Bubs Forever’.
The next was red, yellow, black and blue strings braided together. Wade said this one represented their suits.
Another had colourful beads with a letter for each persons name in Wade’s friend group, including Logan. It felt weird to say ‘their friendship group’ because Logan still felt like a bit of an outsider, even though he was friends with them all.
On his other wrist there was another that said ‘BBF’ with red and yellow heart beads, which this time stood for ‘Best Boyfriends Forever’. He loved this one a lot, Wade had made it for their one day anniversary. He tried to tell him there was no such thing but he insisted.
The last had red and black beads that wrote L MP W with hearts in the middle of the letters. This was to commemorate the official adoption of Mary Puppins.
The last few days have been different. Wade hadn’t made any new bracelets for anyone. He had been having some bad nightmares about his mutation process - he said he didn’t have them often but every now and then they’d come back.
Logan did what any good boyfriend would do.
One night while Wade was sleeping (albeit fitfully), and Logan took the opportunity to steal his bracelet making supplies.
He loved Wade, but he wasn’t bothered to learn how to make a braided bracelet (he couldn’t even braid Laura’s hair when she explicitly told him what to do). So, he chose to make one with beads. Wade’s favourite colours were red and pink so he decided to pick out a few of those. It was a bit tough to make out the different types of beads but if Wade woke up and saw him in his reading glasses he’d never hear the end of it.
The pattern ended up like this: red sphere, red heart, pink sphere, red heart. Then there was a space in the middle to write something with the letter beads. It was at this time that he unfortunately did have to get his reading glasses out.
He could do bub? But they already had Best Bubs Forever bracelets. Maybe Peanut? Wade always called him Peanut (among many other absurdly sweet names), so maybe it would remind him of Logan whenever he saw it.
With no better ideas, he carefully picked through the box of letter beads to find the ones to spell ‘peanut’.
Holding them triumphantly, he found a piece of string, knotted them twice, and began threading the beads on to it with impossible delicacy. It was a bit tough because of how big his hands are compared to the tiny beads, but he managed, and soon he was holding a complete bracelet in his hands.
Logan sort of understood why Wade loved making these so much. It was soothing and repetitive and you had something beautiful by the end of it. He couldn’t help but smile. And then he couldn’t help but smile wider at the thought of Wade’s reaction when he saw it.
When he poked his head into the bedroom, Wade was still asleep, so Logan quietly scooched over into bed, hiding the bracelet in the drawer on his side table, ready to give to him in the morning.
-
Wade woke up first, having had another nightmare. Logan woke up not long after due to the shifting weight beside him.
Since they both had nightmares so often, they pretty much immediately knew what to do after one. Logan took hold of Wade, cradling his head to his chest.
“It’s okay, bub. You’re awake now, you’re safe.” He whispered.
Now was as good a time as any. Logan extracted himself from Wade’s hold and fished around in his side table. He pulled out the bracelet and held it out to Wade, turning on the lamp so he could see it properly.
“Did you make this for me, Peanut?” Wade sniffled, laughing. He held it gingerly in his hands, as if he were afraid to break it.
“Yeah, I wanted to cheer you up… And pay you back for all the bracelets you’ve made for me.” Logan mumbled, suddenly sheepish.
“Aww, I love it. Thank you, angel.” Wade gently pressed a kiss to the bracelet before slipping it onto his wrist. With the same gentle tenderness, he pressed a kiss to Logan’s cheek.
Any sign that Wade had just had a terrible nightmare was now gone, replaced by sheer joy at something so simple as a bracelet.
Logan rubbed Wade’s back. “Wanna try and get back to sleep, bub?”
Wade sighed contentedly, “Sure, Peanut.”
Logan reached over and turned the lamp off, rearranging himself to be spooning Wade from behind as they both drifted back off to sleep. Logan reached over his hand to circle Wade’s wrist where his new bracelet sat. They went to sleep smiling.
Now whenever Wade made bracelets, he was accompanied by Logan. He even managed to teach Logan how to make braided ones, which he soon became infatuated with them. Now everyone in their friend group had at least one braided bracelet made by Logan - especially Laura. (He still denied being a softie on the inside but Wade knew better.)
