Notes:

This fanfiction is a rewrite of Hydro-Inferno that I wrote all the way back in 2020. I discontinued it due to the lack of accuracy and research, and the vast amount of plot holes. I'm rewriting in Ao3 because it's been over 4 years now and I've learnt a lot in how to write.

If I still have any inaccuracies, please do not hesitate to tell me in the comments. Please note that I have only seen the anime up to Season 4 and have not read the manga, and only saw spoilers.

Chapter 1: 16 years beforehand

Chapter Text

Enji Todoroki roams the dimly lit streets of Musutafu in his civilian disguise. The cold air brushing against his usually fired up skin, as he tips his hood closer to his face. No one would recognize him if he wasn't on fire, but he had to be careful anyway. Hours before his walk, he and his second son, Natsuo, discovered that he inherited his mother's, Rei Todoroki's Frost quirk, just like his older sister Fuyumi a few years ago. Enji threw a tantrum and raged at the revelation, opting to not further destroy their home by just walking out into the streets instead. He didn't need another kid with a Frost quirk. He needed a kid with a quirk that can withstand both ice and fire. His firstborn may like him, a child with a fire quirk, but it wasn't enough. Touya was hurting from his fire.

His thoughts were broken by music, from what seemed to be a night club. It should be fine. It's his day off and he's in civilian clothes anyway. He checks around to see if anyone recognized and/or following him, and after seeing no one, he immediately lines up with other civilians to enter the club. In just a few efficient minutes, he was next in line. He quickly flashes his civilian ID to the bouncer, and after what seemed to be a quirk scanning the authenticity of his ID, he was good to go inside.

The club was a mesh of noise and various smells, but it might just be what Enji needed right now. He took solace in one of the more subdued corners of the club and made sure his glare was potent enough to deter any drunkards from coming close to his table. He then flags down one of the waitresses, not bothering to walk up to the bar on the other side of the dancefloor to get himself a drink or two.

The waitress that walked up to him was objectively attractive. She had long black hair with magenta highlights, tied to a braid at the back. She also wore a standard waiter's uniform alongside black-rimmed glasses. Her eyes were of similar shades of magenta to her hair, and she seemed to be in an overly nervous state. Must be the norm when you're surrounded by a bunch of drunk people who can harass you or touch you without consent. But it wasn't a problem Enji needed to solve. He had his own problems to drown in after all. He scanned her person and saw the nameplate "Lilac". It was either her name or a codename. It didn't matter either way.

"Get me one of your strongest drinks, expensive or not, I don't care." He exclaimed loud enough for the Lilac to hear, effectively overpowering the deafening volume of the music around them. She quickly bows and rushes to the bartender to pass his order. The bartender shoots him a quick look before going to work, skillfully mixing liquids of various colors before pouring it into a tall, clear glass and putting it on the tray she had.

She skillfully evades everyone in the crowd and places the drink down the table in front of Enji. He was somewhat surprised. He expected her to fuck it up and spill some on the way due to how nervous she looked, but he guesses that's why she has a job here in the first place; she was competent enough. He hums in gratitude before immediately downing the whole glass, feeling the strong, familiar burn of alcohol in his throat, a burn oh so similar to his flames, but instead of being outside his body, the warmth was inside, filling him up with a sense of ease. He sends the waitress off to get another drink like that, and this went on for hours. How many hours, Enji did not know, but everything went in a blur.

All Enji remembered is the crowd slowly dissipating in the background as he continued to drown himself in alcohol, Lilac somehow becoming more and more appealing to him. The next time she handed him his drink, he pulls her close to him. "S-sir? Please let me go..." She weakly pleas, her expression contorted to fear. She didn't know how to break free from his hold, as he was someone with copious amounts of training in comparison to her feeble form.

"I'll pay you whatever amount you want, just let me have you for the night to make me forget my problems" Enji growled lowly, uncaring for the girl's reply as the she shivered in fear. She didn't know what to do. On one hand, she needed the money, but on the other hand, she wasn't ready to lose her virginity to this scary rich man. She had to weigh her options between protecting her pride or her health. She chose the latter. She drank the untouched glass of alcohol on his table as liquid courage, and pulled him to the upstairs of the club, passing a quick and nervous nod to the guard as they went up.

They went in one of the vacant rooms as the liquid courage flooded their rationality. Enji pushes her down the bed as he had his way with her with minimal resistance. They went on until they fell unconscious, the sun peeking through the curtains of the room. Enji awakens first, feeling a familiar feeling headache and nausea, alongside some scent of strong alcohol. It took him a few moments to get his bearings together to observe where he was. It was a plainly decorated room, with the light only being the lamp beside the bed and the sun peeking through the window.

He looks at himself after feeling the air conditioning hit his person, and noticed how naked he was and how clothes were thrown around him. He immediately whipped his head to the person next to him after noticing unfamiliar articles of clothing and saw the waitress Lilac, covered in bites and burns, her arms and hips took the most beating. He felt a slight tinge of guilt for doing such a thing to an innocent civilian, and immediately got his shit together.

He took a quick shower and wore the clothes he wore the night before, cringing slightly at how alcohol-laced the fabrics were, but he had to be fast. He pulls his phone from his pocket and calls his agency, opting to repay the poor girl as he remembers promising to pay her for having his way with her. He may not be a lot of good things, but he doesn't break promises. After getting through to his accountant, he instructed them to pay a large sum to a girl called Lilac from a certain club. They didn't ask why out of fear of angering him, and does their job efficiently.

Enji huffs out after ending the call and tucks Lilac in the bed, not wanting to have her get sick in addition to her current condition, and immediately exits the room, ignoring every stare he's getting from the staff of the club. He breathes in the morning air as he stretches, feeling slightly better than yesterday but it'll go away later on. He just hopes that whatever he did to the girl won't get out in the future. He can't have a case of infidelity as a pro hero. It would send his career in a spiral after all.
