Chapter 1: The Wolf

Chapter Text

There she was, the ray of sunshine that lights up my boring and otherwise gloomy life. Working in construction is no easy task, but being able to see her every few days is a good enough reason for me to live. She makes my overpriced plain black coffee so much sweeter. It's honestly the reason I even go here, just to see...her.

Her glistening porcelain-ish skin her white thick eyelashes, almost hiding her light blue eyes as if they were the reflection of the sky itself, her long white hair that dances with the wind as if even the heavens are calling out for her—she's so divine, so... ethereal. As if she's an angel that's sent to earth and hidden amongst humans. I'm astonished that I'm the only person who seems to be awestruck by her haunting beauty. But I guess I'm also grateful that nobody else is as interested in her as I am.

It's nice to know that I can always rely on her, going to the exact same place, at the exact same time, the exact same day and ordering the exact same drink. Usually that's enough to satisfy but lately, I feel different...more...famish..

I want something more.

I want to get to know her..

Connect to her on a much deeper level...

"Your a babysitter?''

"Well, more accurately I work in a daycare"

I have no idea how I got here everything feels so surreal, talking to her, sitting beside her. I know people always say stuff like "A journey of a thousand miles begin with a single step' but even so,... I can't believe all I had to do was just...talk to her.

"Daycare, huh? You like children?"

"That goes without saying, I love them! They're so naive and innocent, It's honestly so adorable. But they're such a handful, especially having to deal with all of them alone"

Her eyes immediately sparkle as she speaks about them with such admiration, so cute.

but then again...

Alone?

"Alone? So are you hiring?"

"You're interested? No offense, but you don't seem like the type to enjoy being around kids"

She's right. I hate kids. Annoying fucking brats, natural morons. I honestly don't know why anyone would willingly surround themselves with them

Well...unless it means I get to be around her more..then...I guess I'll tolerate them... I'll just repeat the same excuse as to why she likes kids... I honestly can't come up with a better answer.

"Well I may not seem like it, but I LOVE kids, like you said, they're so...naive and innocent.."

"..."

she suddenly went silent. Somewhat blankly staring at me as if she's processing what I was saying

"..."

I stare back at her silently, trying to figure out why she went silent

"....."

uhm...

"...???....???" Why is she staring at me like that? Did I say something wrong? Can't be. I was just repeating what she said before...

"Well...if you're interested, I guess I'll keep you in mind. Can I have your number then?"

"M-my n-number?"

"Yeah, for the interview?"

"Oh..right here"

How cute! Her phone case is shaped like a bunny. How suiting..

"By the way, I haven't caught your name?"

"It's.. Shyren.."

"Shyren? That's a unique name. You seem kinda shy to so I guess it's somewhat accurate haha"

"Yeah.. I get that a lot. What's yours?"

It's so crazy that after all this time, I still don't know a lot about her. It does irk me whenever I think of it. I have to find a way to change that soon. Being able to learn her name can really open up a huge door of opportunity for me. Just imagine the amount of research I could do just by finding out her name alone.

"You can call me Shiro. My mom loves to call me that , you know, having albenism and all. So I just sorta of adopted that nickname"

What? So she's not even gonna tell me her real name???

"Is....Shiro a part of your real name..?"

"Nope."

Wow, she's really set on not telling me her name. Eh it's fine, there's multiple other ways to find someone name.

"So...um.. I'm a little surprised that you're willing to talk to me, most people aren't really willing to talk to strangers ", I try to continue the conversation.

"Well.. I seem to notice you around A LOT more recently."

"Oh."

Fine I admit.. I've slightly...been following her around...BUT NOT CONSCIOUSLY . Can you blame me? It's like I'm put in a trance each time I see her, I can't help but follow her. Milk each second we could be together.

"Do you come here often?"

"Yea..."

"Cool.....Well anyway it seems like I need to get going now, it's getting late."

Ah..it's 6pm, that makes sense, usually she'll be here at 5:30 but I guess talking to her has made her a few minutes late from her usual routine. I guess now she's going to head to..

To...

To where..?

There she was, just walking down that almost empty sidewalk, It's so dangerous for a woman to be walking alone this late anyone could easily sneak up on her, she's so petite to I'm guessing something like 5'4?

But then.. I guess it's sort of my fault.. The least I could do is make sure she gets back home safely.. even if she doesn't know I'm doing that. Keeping a damsel safe while hidden in the shadow, I'm kind of like Batman?

mean.. I sure hope she's walking back to where she lives, I wouldn't know where else she would be going this late.

Though the deeper she goes through the suburb the harder it is to follow her without being caught. Well my dark complexion definitely makes it easier for me to hide in the shadow, though i don't think being 6'3 helps... I guess you take what you can get haha

Even from here I could smell her perfume, she smells like the reincarnation of the garden of Eden as a human. At this point, I feel like I could just track her down from anywhere just by her smell alone. I'm not even worried about losing her track or being a little too far behind from her, her perfume somewhat lingers on the sidewalk...or maybe it's my sense of smell...though I wouldn't be surprised if she naturally smells that way.

She's slowing down maybe she's getting closer to where she lives?

Though I'm curious, how can she afford to live in a suburb? A nice clean neighborhood surrounded by a two-story house. Does she live alone? With her family? Maybe she lied about being a daycare worker? I guess by now, it wouldn't be hard to find out. All I have to do now is keep up with her, which isn't hard.

After all , she's so short, even if she ran I'll be able to catch up to her effortlessly.

She's unlocking the door. From the looks of it, there's no car park near the house. So either she lives alone and doesn't know how to drive, which makes sense why she usually walks everywhere or... She does live with someone and they haven't arrived home yet. Though I'm willing to bet it's the former.

Hmmm...If it is the former then...

I can ask to be her roommate

I doubt she'll agree to it..though she seems open minded and easy going...

Not to mention, I don't mind living here..A nice two story house... There's even a beautiful and well kept garden at the front, it smells somewhat like her.. magnificent...I hope she doesn't mind me picking one of the flowers, just for the sake of keepsakes. The white one smells like her especially. Maybe she uses them to make her own perfume?

Even though all I want is just to stay here and watch her forever I can't. I can't have people seeing me just hovering near her house and snitching. I have work tomorrow morning to...ugh... Well if all goes well then maybe next time I go to work, it's with her instead. I can't imagine how blissful it'll be to see her. Fine, I guess I'll go home. At least whenever I miss her I can just smell the flower I pick.
