“Get off, Helaena!” Aegon twisted his head to scowl fiercely at his sister, who sat cross legged on his back. “You’re heavy!”
“No!” Helaena didn’t even deign to look at him, one hand grabbing onto his foot at he kicked lightly at her. “You’re in a timeout!”
Behind her Aemond snickered. The little brat refused to do anything to help him, instead choosing to just watch on as their sister made herself comfortable.
Groaning, Aegon thudded his head into the ground below, uncaring of the dirt it smudged across his face. He was so going to get his siblings back for this! If only Aemond was the one sitting on him. He could throw him off - he had a spare younger brother after all. But if he threw Helaena off and his mother heard about it then he wouldn’t be able to leave his room for months!
A slight cough drew his attention and Aegon groaned as he turned to find his eldest sister standing there, his nephews with her. Just great - more people to witness his humiliation.
“Helaena dear,” Rhaenyra started, her brow furrowing slightly as she stared at her younger siblings, “why, pray tell, are you sitting on your brother?”
“He stepped on my beetle!” Helaena pouted, staring up at their sister as she raised an eyebrow. “I told him not to!”
Rhaenyra sighed, crouching to set Lucerys down. The toddler seemed happy to tear at the grass as his mother moved to stand closer to them. Aegons eldest nephew had already made his way over to where Aemond stood, the two having ducked their heads together. Aegon narrowed his eyes suspiciously at the way those two whispered to the other before Rhaenyra drew his attention once again.
“I’m sure Aegon is sorry for stepping on your bug.” Aegon raised his head to protest but a sharp look from the elder princess stopped him. “Perhaps it is time to get off of him?”
Aegon held his breath as Helaena tilted her head, his little sister frowning as she considered their elder sister’s words. Strange as she was, Helaena did tend to at least listen to Rhaenyra, even if she did so for no one else.
“Do you really think he’s sorry?” Helaena questioned, narrowing her eyes at him. Aegon tried to pull his face into some semblance of remorse, even if he didn’t feel any.
It had just been a bug!
“I do.” Rhaenyra said gently. “In fact, I’m sure Aegon would also be more than happy to make up for it by helping you find another beetle.”
Aegon could not think of anything he would like to do less, but if it got his sister off of him…
“Yes, yes.” He said hastily when Helaena turned to peer down at him. “I’ll help you find another bug, Hels. Just please get off me.”
“You better.” She muttered, but Aegon heaved a sigh as she stood up.
He had barely just pushed himself up before suddenly two bodies collided with his back. Aegons arms gave out as his chin hit the ground again and suddenly he understood what exactly his brother and nephew had been whispering about.
“Get off!” He shrieked, bucking and wriggling as the two boys dug their feet into the ground. Aegon could feel their hands scrambling across his back, grasping at his tunic as they tried to keep their balance. Aegon rocked, determination coursing through him as he pushed off and rolled onto his back.
Aemond and Jace were sent sprawling into the ground, yelping and knocking into each other as they scrambled out of his reach. Aegon huffed, twisting his head to the side to watch as their efforts devolved into some sort of wrestling match.
Behind them Rhaenyra looked upwards, her face pained as she heaved an exasperated sigh. Helaena didn’t even look up from where she had gone back to searching the bushes, looking for even more bugs no doubt. Aegon closed his eyes with a groan, his head thudding back into the ground as his back protested its cruel treatment.
He did not hear the pattering of little footsteps as his youngest nephew grew closer, dismissing the little giggles he made as simple amusement as his mother pulled his brother away from Aemond. Luke was a quiet boy, still too little to get into too much trouble while his mother watched over him.
But as the air was forced out of his chest, Aegon was reminded that his sister was not in fact watching her youngest. And of course, that like most children his age, Luke loved to copy the people around him.
Wheezing, Aegon opened his eyes to find that his little nephew had planted himself firmly on Aegons stomach. Luke giggled at him, clapping his hands as Aegon stared up at him despondently.
He was pretty sure Rhaenyra would actually kill him if he threw her three year old son to the ground. Or if he made Luke upset by moving him. The kid tended to cry if you tried to seperate him from someone before he was good and ready and Aegon could not deal with a three year olds tears.
“Luke,” Aegon said, calmly like the good uncle he was, “could you get off of me please?”
Luke just giggled at his words, his hands pressing into Aegons chest as he lent forward until his face was directly over Aegons own.
“Rhaenyra!” Aegon whined, turning to seek out his older sister. “Can you please come and get your son off of me!”
“I’m afraid that I’m a tad busy, Aegon!” Rhaenyra called back, not even bothering to look up from where she was keeping a struggling Aemond from lurching at Jace.
Aegon scowled, turning back to hesitantly meet Lukes gaze. His nephews big brown eyes bore in Aegons own, unblinking even as Aegon squirmed under it.
How was a boy of three this unsettling!
Aegon was not, however, scared of a toddler. He narrowed his gaze and refused to flinch away from Lukes challenge.
He would not be beaten by a little kid!
A few meters away, Rhaenyra shook her head as she took in her little brother and son. Jace and Aemond had already been pulled away by Helaena, recruited into her search for some bug and Rhaenyra had not had a moment to herself in a good while.
Settling herself in the shade, the princess leaned her head back and closed her eyes. Perhaps a nap would do her some good.
After all, it was not like Aegon would be escaping Lukes clutches anytime soon.
