Frostbitten Pads, Bloody Pawprints

Summary:

Snow was stained scarlet in what was merely chalked up as an accident, leaving a barely visible scar across Tommy's arm. It isn't until years after that the teen is abruptly thrown into a world that was just under his nose; a world that he should've joined that same bloody day.

All thanks to pair of familiar red eyes belonging to a teen he didn't even recognized.

(aka the bedrocks bro au no one asked for)

A warning: This will be a slow updating fic as I took this concept and ran with it!

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

 December

20° F/-6° C

The sky was dark, full of clouds with snowflakes that drifted a light as feathers down to the ground below. The white powder stained crimson with the snarling, snapping jaws of beasts as they circled their prey. The poor creature almost blended in with the snow if it hadn’t been for the reds and blues that he wore that day.

His jacket was torn and he learned quickly that his scarf only tightened around his neck the more he struggled. One of the wolves, the one who had dragged him off of his tire swing, had the red fabric firmly under his paw.

It was at that moment that Tommy accepted his fate as another wolf came into his view. It was just ironic that his end would be from the creatures he loved to look upon just outside his bedroom window.

He didn’t know when his body became numb to the nicks and cuts. The cold nipped at his bare skin. The snow stung worse than any scratch mark given to him as he laid there. Blond hair almost blending into the fur of the newcomer.

This wolf was lanky; just like the one that had pulled him away from his yard. Green eyes taking him in as if studying the quickest way to end his suffering. He waited for that killing bite but it never came. Instead he was pushed onto his side, the sound of jaws snapping popped in his ringing ears. There were rivaling growls, a few deeper ones getting thrown into the mix.

The pack had finally taken notice. And soon enough they all descend upon the scene.

Wolves both big and small, coats ranging from black to golden ticked became nothing but a blur against his cloudy vision. It was then that he finally felt the tears that had stuck to his cheeks. Frozen as he was upon the forest floor.

He could do nothing but watch as a taller, bigger black wolf drew their lips back into a snarl. Baring their fangs as they pinned the brown wolf to the ground beside him. Tommy recognized her as the beautiful female that glanced at him from the underbrush on occasion. Her purple eyes that once held a softness in them were now a fierce anger towards the young wolf. The smaller whimpering in submission as if he was just scolded by his mother which he probably was now that Tommy was thinking about it.

The growls and whining becomes nothing but white noise to him. He didn’t care about the brushing of fur as the wolves moved around him, jolting his body this way and that. He could get away, try to if he wanted to but he knew it was in vain. He could try to run and try to scream for help but he simply laid there, unmoving and silent. Completely accepting his fate as darkness started to dance around the edge of his vision.

It was then that he saw it. White coat that looked almost tinted pink in the eerie white light that poked out through the tree. Scarred muzzle and a pair of hazel eyes that looked almost red that seemed to stare straight into Tommy’s own being. Their eyes never leave his gaze. Their body froze in place as if they were a statue.

There was a small breath, a puff of cold air that escaped Tommy’s cracked lips as he felt the sweet embrace of unconsciousness take him. His eyes closed finally as he drifted off. The wolf’s eyes never leave him.
