Kacchan, I know you're awake.

Summary:

Izuku doesn't need sleep. And neither does Kacchan, if he'd just get out of bed and come see-

Work Text:

It's- Actually Izuku doesn't know what time it is. It's dark, and Kacchan's in bed pretending that he's asleep, but Kacchan goes to bed early, so it could be any time, really. Definitely night though. Anyway!

If it was Kaminari standing here, then Kacchan would be doing a really good job of pretending to be asleep. Izuku, however, is frankly on a different level.

"Kacchan," he hisses. "Get up."

Kacchan's body maintains its state of fake relaxation, but Izuku knows this man better than anyone.

"Kacchan, I swear to god."

Kacchan knows Izuku almost as well, so he really has no right to look so surprised when Izuku shoves his freezing cold hands under the blanket and down Kacchan's shirt.

He sits up with murder in his eyes, and Izuku's wrists get jammed in his collar so it's really good that Kaminari's not here, actually, because the guy cannot keep his mouth shut for the life of him and right now it probably kind of looks like- Well.

What it looks like is unimportant. What matters is the results.

"Midoriya Izuku." Kacchan growls into the night.

Full-naming Izuku now, is he? Kacchan's got a lot of nerve.

Izuku obviously knows where he sleeps.

"I knew you were awake," he whispers triumphantly. "Come on, get up, you'll want to see this."

"The only thing I want to see is your back walking out of this tent."

Izuku flaps a hand at him, now that he has them free, and uses the other to tug Kacchan to his feet against his will.

Izuku knows this man. Once he sees what Izuku is getting him up for, all will be forgiven.

But instead of allowing himself to be helped to his feet, like a logical person, Kacchan lets himself go limp in Izuku's grip. What is he, a child? Izuku will simply drag him if he doesn't-

Kacchan heaves a great, grumbling sigh to let Izuku knows how he feels about this, and finally swings his legs over the side of his cot and pushes to his feet.

"Was that so hard?" Izuku mumbles to himself, and tugs on Kacchan's elbow really hard in retaliation.

Not that Kacchan seems to notice.

"What the fuck's so important that you gotta drag me outside in the middle of the night?" Kacchan hisses, sounding a lot more awake now, like he should be.

His eyes practically cut through the darkness as they bore into Izuku's face.

"You'll see," Izuku breathes. He slides his hand down to pull on Kacchan's wrist instead, and this time Kacchan lets himself be moved.

And Izuku was right! When Kacchan sees what Izuku got him up for, all is forgiven.

It's not every night that you get to see a dragon hatch, after all.
