Work Text:
Knock on the door didn’t distract Ton from disassembling his own cybernetic arm. Similarly, the sliding sound of opening durasteel door to the quarters he shared with Face Loran.
“Any exciting news from the commander?” he asked without turning his head to the visitor.
“Oh, I’m afraid I don't bring any, sorry to disappoint you” shy female voice replied. Ton rapidly faced the incomer, though he already recognized her voice.
“Dear, you couldn’t possibly disappoint me in any way” back to his usual composure, Ton smiled at the intel agent. Dressed in her usual off duty clothes - tight one piece with shorts, she looked like just came out of the shower.
“Hi Ton” she rolled her eyes with a smile, as she greeted him properly.
“Hello Deanne” he replied politely. “What brings you here?”
“Garik mentioned something like - if I recall correctly -” she cleared her throat, put on a theatrical pose and deepened her voice to sound a little more like their friend “Stop bothering me just because you’re bored, go annoy Phanan.” Giggle escaped her lips as she broke her act. “So, I came to keep you company until General Cracken sends me new orders.”
“You want to say now that spying on me is your hobby?” Ton raised his eyebrow playfully, to made her smile again. It worked like a charm.
“I can’t talk about work” her smile became mysterious for a brief moment.
“Well nothing exciting happening here either… Just doing my own maintenance” he laughed, though his voice went down a little. Deanne shrugged, like she didn't bother if it was interesting or not, but Ton knew too well how troublesome it was.
“Can I help? Or will I just interrupt?” was it just Ton's impression or was her voice a little shaken asking this question?
“Worst thing you can do is electrocute me to the point my organs stop working. In result I may be unconscious or die depending on which implants will be impacted.” He explained smoothly, but then stopped abruptly from saying more. He wasn't against being helped, he was just explaining the true consequences, but he realized he might've scared her. Deanne almost took a step back. She was nervous, he could hear it in her voice. Then, she came closer with determination gleaming in her eyes. Her hesitation didn't take over, but rather made her motivated in some weird way.
“Sounds like a job for two. What should I do?” Her question surprised him. Well, she wasn't entirely sane to begin with - after all she used to hang out with him and Face.
They worked together and cracked couple of awful jokes, like they usually did. Ton realized he was a little stressed after he dropped another tool. Has letting other person fix him been too intimate? Deanne was a perfect friend, the only woman who didn't run away from his flirting attempts and even teased him back sometimes. She gained his trust and he absolutely adored her wits. The trio of two Wraith Squadron pilots and one New Republic Intelligence Agent often planned their time off together, when they didn't visit their families. Well, when Deanne and Face didn't.
“Ton your software froze” he heard sweet chirping when Deanne flicked his nose playfully, bringing him back from his thoughts. He looked at her carefully, or a longer moment, pondering on how beautiful she was. Her hair got longer lately, now reaching her little below her chin and he really liked that change. He sighed. He couldn't afford to loose her.
“Don't mess with me just yet, I need my eye sorted out as well. We can have all the fun later” he forced a laugh to cover some of the painful emotions that rose within him. Luckily, Deanne just snorted and moved her chair closer to him.
“Yeah, yeah busy flyboy. Do you think I can clean it without taking it out? I think I'm getting good at this, so no need to waste time.” Ton smirked.
“I surrender myself to your care” he replied with sweet and low voice. There he was, back to his usual self. A warm tint of pink covered Deanne's cheeks, visible clearly in the white lights of the small workshop table he prepared.
“Pfft. Ass” she muttered angrily, but her hands went up to touch his face anyway. He could easily inhale the oils she used for repairs and her gentle fragrance - he didn't know if it was soap of perfume, but he already memorized well the signature cozy and sweet scent that accompanied her regularly.
“What, you nervous?” he mocked when the screwdriver was right in front his left eye's line of sight.
“Shut up, Phanan, I'm not a medic like you, so you'd better stay still.” She nearly hissed and Ton watched with a corner of his real eye how her blush rose. Deanne's fingers gently switched off some buttons and unplugged cables until he was able to see with only right eye. Her breath often tickled his skin. Ton realized he didn't feel this relaxed around other people for a long time.
“You could be this gentle with me more often, you know?”
“Stop enjoying this, creep. I'm helping because I'm bored.”
“Yeah, sure" he chuckled, enjoying every moment of their playful banter.
Deanne groaned and took small break to tie her hair up. Ton could swear he saw sly smirk on her lips when she was gathering loose stands with a band. Then, as she took brand new cables and approached him again, she frowned. It was another theatrical gesture, just as when she mocked Garik's voice.
“Hm, hold on, I'll need better position for this” she stated and both of her hands rested on his shoulders. She moved forward and to Ton's surprise, suddenly her legs wrapped around him as she sat on hip lap.
“Now's much better. Don't move!” she added as if there was nothing wrong in her actions. Proud smile crept onto her lips and Ton felt his blood freezing. She must'd been conscious about how their bodies clung to each other, right?
Ton couldn't utter a single word. Meanwhile Deanne seemed to be enjoying herself in her small torture. The longer it took, the more of his thoughts wandered around kissing the woman in front of him. He even lost track of adjustments she already made in his eye. He couldn't move, breathe or stand the warmth of her body. Deanne was too valuable to lose because of some potential argument, he really shouldn't have thought of her in this manner. He felt every smallest movement of her body, like it was sending some sort of electric waves through his own skin - even the cybernetic parts of it. She was playing very dirty tricks and he wondered if she even realized how hard it was for him to hold back.
“You could be this silent more often, you know?” she looked at him proudly. Her index finger was rising his chin and he realized, both of his eyes were working. She finished and the sly smirk on her lips couldn't seem more dreamy.
“Ton, is Deanne here? Cubber has found some crazy stuff in Antilles' fighter, you need to... Woooah!” Loran's whistling was heard before the door fully slid open. “Ok, go on, I'll find another quarter to sleep tonight! Have fun...”
Ton barely registered what his friend said, as he realized Deanne's lips were connected with his own in a short but rough kiss that lasted a second longer than the sound of closing door.
Deanne kissed him - that realization was occupying his whole mind.
“You okay?” Deanne asked with serious concern as her breath became unsteady. The pink of her cheeks and was just perfectly adorable, her lips swollen and her eyes sparkling.
“Me? Why you did that?” he asked, frowning. If this was some sort of game, he was ready to pick a fight over it. She got scared immediately, suddenly panic in her eyes was more than obvious. “Deanne, just explain it” he added softly, daring to gently put his hand behind her head. Sparks of hope rising in him were strong enough. He didn't want to let her go and he wanted her to understand it. Somehow supported by his grip, the tension left her body.
“Well... He'd just ruin everything... And that dumb flirty attitude of yours might've finally worked on equally dumb person...” she said growing more and more embarrassed. Her eyes were darting from his face down to her tight. She was awkward and smiling. Her words were clear but Ton's insecure soul made him question it in all possible ways.
“Are you serious?” he didn't dare to believe what she said. His thoughts wandered around the fear of losing the only person who could really become his family.
“Are you deaf, Phanan? I have feelings for you, do you need to have your ears replaced?” now she got angry and pinched his right cheek painfully. Ton let out an 'oww' and covered the place with his hand. There was always something remarkable about Deanne's eyes when she was determined and right now, Ton saw just that kind of fierceness in front of him. That was it. He laughed and nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck, closing her in gentle hug.
“You could've chosen better” he said, but relief in his voice was more than obvious. As his lips brushed the beloved skin of her neck, she shivered. Oh, he could definitely devour her right now, now that she was his.
“For once, you could believe that there are people who value you more than just the pieces of junk you consists of!” Deanne's voice was shaky and angry, but her arms closed him in a hug as she kissed the top of his head.
