Chapter Text
As the sun set, casting its golden glow down upon the townsfolk. The air filled with the chatter and clatter of said people, as their steps crunched the snow down below, creating deeper grooves in the already apparent path.
Among these townsfolk, were a pair of flickering ears. Twitching and turning to try and identify all noise around. The ears were attached to a bed of fluffy white hair, accompanying an almost snow-white face covered by a yellow blindfold, despite this hinderance to the person’s sight, they appeared to have little to no problems walking, their tail swaying softly behind them as a soft smile was plastered on their jade like face.
“Fresh Baozi! Best steamed pork buns you’ll ever have! “
The loud voice of a merchant echoed through the street, as the savory smell of braised pork seeped thru cold winter air. Light footsteps went over to the loud merchant, who was still yelling with full strength to try and get costumers over. His eyes fell upon the tall figure now standing in front of his stall. His eyes gleaming with the passion of a trader.
“Hello young lad! I see you’ve got quite the nose for delicious meals! If you buy one, I’ll throw in an extra, free of charge!” His rough voice said, now quieter but still obnoxiously loud for a man who resembles more of a pig rather than a person.
“How much?” Was the only response he got from the taller figure, the smile still apparent on his thin lips.
The merchant’s eyes twitched with glee ‘I can’t believe this guy fell for it’ He thought as he plopped two freshly made bao’s into a paper bag “Two freshly made baozi! That will be 6 silver coins! One free of charge of course.” his tone was that of a fox getting ready to jump upon its prey, sly and mischievous, yet with a kind overtone.
The taller man hummed, his mouth straightening into that of a slight frown. But nevertheless, he paid for the bao. Placing 6 silver coins on the wooden slab in front of him, taking the paper bag of steaming hot bao in his hands as he walked off in the nearing snow. The old man chuckled as he tossed the coins in his hands “aahh young people, never know how to haggle or read prices hahaha!” His laughing could be heard from where the young eared-man had gone. But without even the slightest twitch of anger, the soft smile appeared once more on his lips. Humming a tune as he took a bite from the piping hot bao, he continued his walk through the snowy weather, the streetlights glowing brighter as the skies darkened with nightfall.
