Work Text:

Sometimes, life brings unexpected gifts. As Chuuya Nakahara, Executive of the Port Mafia stared down at a large fluffy white bear (?) lying face-down in a dark alley, he couldn’t help wondering what kind of cruel god would bestow him a gift like this.

Cautiously stepping closer, he silently marveled at the soft fur, unconsciously bringing his hand over to pet it. Flipping the bear thing over, Chuuya flinched as he suddenly found two strangely aware eyes staring back into his. Come to think of it, the bear’s proportions were all over the place too…maybe it was some kind of discarded science experiment?

It had absurdly tiny limbs and its head was almost two times bigger than that of its body.

As if hearing his unkind thoughts, the bear immediately started tearing up, letting out a warbling cry. It started to babble incoherently, sounding rather like a gurgling infant. Despite his reputation, Chuuya couldn’t help but feel a sense of sympathy for it. Extending an arm, Chuuya pulled the sobbing creature up, before awkwardly wrapping it in a hug. It proceeded to cry even harder-if that was possible-and burrowed its furry face into his chest as if seeking comfort.

Chuuya sighed, aggrieved at his current circumstances. The thing pulled away from his now-wet shirt, and looked up at him. Its eyes seemed to examine him. After a good moment of looking at his hair, it let out a saddened noise that sounded like the word ‘usagi’.

Unsure what to do, Chuuya simply patted the poor sod as it held on to him. Finally, as the creature’s tragic cries devolved into quiet sniffing, he asked,“Can you speak?”

The creature merely blinked at him. Chuuya huffed.“Can you at least understand me?”

Finally, it nodded, before saying,“y-yeah…”It suddenly blinked, holding its mouth as it stumbled backwards. “I sound different!”

“You didn’t know you could speak before?”

“I-I mean…it’s just, it’s just that when I spoke before, I wasn’t saying full words! Just sounds, and noises!”

The creature looked around, its large furry head turning right and left as it looked at its surroundings.“This…this isn’t even my home!”

At that, it let out a mournful sob, its face scrunching up again. Chuuya, not wanting his shirt to become even more stained, immediately tried to distract it by asking,“What was your home like?”

It let out a soft cry before responding.“There were… a lot of trees…and so much grass. And my friends were there too.”

Chuuya couldn’t help but roll his eyes when the bear went to wipe its eyes. How specific. Still, this was likely an animal in shock.“Who were they?”

“Usagi and Hachiware…I miss them so much.”

Chuuya, tilted his head, confused, recalling the bear’s answer to his earlier question. The fact that the bear’s friends seemed to have names of a bunny and a cat wasn’t helping. “Grass? Do you remember how you got here in the first place?”

Its face scrunched up, as it tried to remember.“I think, I think, I was hit by a truck? I was crossing the street with Usagi when it just came charging towards me!”

Chuuya nodded,“So then it most likely hit you. But still…that doesn’t answer my question.” This was one of the few times where he wished that Dazai was here instead of him. Loathe as he was to admit it, that slimy eel of a man did have his advantages.

“I swear! I swear I don’t know anything else!! I-I-I just want to go back home!”

“Yet the problem is,”He let out a bitter laugh,“You don’t even know how you got here in the first place. How are you going to get home then?”

The bear puffed up, trying its best to prevent itself from crying again.“I can just walk!”

“Do you even realize how ridiculous that sounds?” Chuuya scoffed, rolling his eyes.

“What else can I do? I have to get back! I have friends waiting for me! I can’t just sit around and wait!”

“Yet that’s the only productive thing you can do right now. Besides, look at you.”

The bear blinked, staring down at itself.

Chuuya sighed.“You’re a huge white bear-thing. If you walk out of this alleyway and into those streets, animal control is going to get called on you.”

After a moment of hesitation, Chuuya added on.“How about you come with me? It’s better than being thrown into animal jail, and we can contract an acquaintance of mine to help you.”

“An acquaintance? Who?”

“Dazai Osamu.” Even saying his name out loud made Chuuya disgusted. Thankfully, the bear didn’t notice as it simply nodded.

Pivoting on his heels, Chuuya craned his head to look at the outside of the alley. Going through the crowds in broad light would be an utter disaster. Not to mention, if any of his colleagues saw him…he shivered. Best to put that thought away.

Perhaps he should utilize the network of alleys that ran through Yokohama. With that decided, he gestured for the bear to follow him saying,“You better keep up.”

The bear nodded, as it used its little feet to stay close to Chuuya. Suddenly, it startled, as if remembering something. Chuuya, too busy calculating the best route to a safehouse like some human GPS didn’t notice. Instead, the bear had to tug on his sleeve until he turned his head to stare at it. “What now?”

“I forgot- what’s your name? I’m Chiikawa!”

“Chuuya Nakahara. If you distract me again, I won’t hesitate to leave you here.”

Grabbing Chiikawa’s tiny paw, Chuuya suddenly set off running, dragging the poor bear behind him. At some point, it couldn’t keep up, and simply let itself fly into the air, waving about like a flag during a storm.

The turns grew dizzying to it at some point, as it suddenly woke up on a plush sofa. Chiikawa pushed itself up, looking around at the extravagant penthouse it found itself awake in. The bear hopped off the couch; its tiny feet making little pattering sounds as it scurried about, looking at the various decor.

Finally, it found Chuuya, who was leaning against the railings of a balcony, typing something on his phone. Chiikawa blinked, looking up at him. “What are you doing?”

“Trying to see what type of foods you can eat.”

“I don’t have any allergies-if that’s what you’re worried about.”

Chuuya sighed.“I’m more worried about trying to find out what animal you are.”

“I can eat any food like you!”Chiikawa said in response.

The other blinked, momentarily surprised before schooling his expression. This was a talking bear-thing, after all. It wasn’t out of the realm of possibility that it could eat human food.

“Your okay with eating curry?”

Chiikawa excitedly nodded.

And so, this is where the story leaves off. As the sun sets and the moon raises, the scent of curry can be smelled emanating from a penthouse.

Please don’t read this part if you value your sanity; I only wrote this for a friend :’)

“Chuuya-san…”Chiikawa blinked up at the person in question.

The two were sitting on the couch, TV playing in the background that neither of them paid addition to.

Chuuya tilted his head,“What is it?”

“Can you…can you kiss me?”

Chuuya blinked. What. For a moment, his mind ceased to work as he simply stared down at the bear. “Why?”

“I think… I have feelings for you, and I want to test them out…”

He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. The author couldn’t believe what they were writing. As the famous tumblr quote asks, “Do you think god stays in heaven because he too is afraid of his creations?”

Strangely, Chuuya wasn’t opposed to the question. He licked his lips as he thought. Chiikawa hungrily stared at it, waiting for the other’s reply.

“Fine, but just this once.”

Chiikawa excitedly leapt onto Chuuya’s lap, opening its pink mouth and enveloping it with his. Chuuya, for his part, simply slowly leaned into it, extending his tongue and wrapping Chiikawa’s tiny one with his.

The bear moaned in his mouth, as the two thirsty made out. Meanwhile, this author is puking in the background.

The two took part in slowly exploring each other’s mouths. As they got into it, they clutched each other tighter, as if the other was the only thing left in existence.

Eventually they parted, panting, with a trail of spit, hanging between the two of them.

Chuuya took several deep breaths, trying to calm down his excited heart as Chiikawa did the same.

“That…was certainly something.” He muttered.

“Could you be down for doing it again…Chuuya-san?”Chiikawa meekly answered.

With a dashing smile rivaling that of an alpha wolf’s, Chuuya smirked wolfishly. “Of course, my pookie.”

Notes:

Wow, that was a fiction. I think I need to viciously scrub my hands now.
