It was a nice Saturday afternoon. The same sounds that Kenma was usted to; the fridge making ice; cars outside passing by; birds on the trees. Waking up was usually so peaceful for Kenma; but something was wrong. He woke up from a nightmare; he doesn’t get them very often. Playing horror games made him immune to be scared of almost everything. Well that is expect the fear of losing the person he loves the most, and in this case it was the sun himself, Shoyo Hinata.
So yeah, the nightmare was definitely something to be scared about. Seeing Shoyo and him saying their last goodbye, it stung Kenma awake.
Looking up from the bed waiting to see an orange haired person smiling warmly at him. But when Kenma looked he realized that there was no one there. He tried to hear if Shoyo was in the kitchen or the bath, but no noise other than mundane things could be heard.
Kenma wasn’t one to panic, he knew that his boyfriend was always up and about, doing this and that. So he checked his phone…and there was nothing, just the same old youtube notifications. As Kenma was trying to calm his breathing, he stood up and walked through the apartment feeling disoriented. Maybe it was because he took a nap or because of the nightmare; but he feels weird, gross even, and the anxiety rising in him wasn’t helping either.
He went over to get a cup thinking drinking water might get him over his weird funk. As he was about to fill it with water the front door open making him drop his cup. The glass shattered leaving tiny crystals adorning the floor. Kenma stood still, processing what had happened, he didn’t even hear the rushed footsteps coming near him.
“Kenma! Are you alright? Did you hurt yourself?” Shoyo said a few feet away from his boyfriend, inspecting the mess on the floor.
Kenma looked towards Shoyo and slowly stepped closer; hands wrapping around his chest; faced on the side of Shoyo’s neck, inhaling his scent. He could feel his fingers squeezing into his boyfriend’s back. Slowly a few tears start to drop from Kenna’s face. Remembering his nightmare, he tightened his hold on his boyfriend.
Then he felt arms starting to wrap around him, engulfing him.
After a bit Kenna felt a hand going towards his face making him look up a bit. Shoyo placed their foreheads together cupping Kenna’s cheek.
“Hey, what happened?” Shoyo asked in a whisper
“A stupid nightmare” Kenna sighed
“Want to talk about it?”
Kenna immediately shook his head no, it isn’t worth it. Having Shoyo in his arms is all he needs…but is it really?
After a few minutes Kenna whispers back to Shoyo. Looking up at those radiant eyes that he loves so much.
“If the world was ending, i’d want to be next to you.”
Before Shoyo could answer Kenma placed a soft kiss on Shoyo’s lips; “No matter where”
then slowly moved on to his forehead; “i’ll follow you”
eyes; “if it was our last seconds on Earth”
nose; “i’ll die with a smile”
Finally going back to his boyfriend’s lips again.
Kenma pulled away a bit; he wanted to see his boyfriend’s face. Shoyo had his eyes closed as he let out a content sigh and smiled.
“If the world was ending, i’ll be holding you” Shoyo says as he opened his eyes again.
That was all Kenma needed to hear to make everything inside him feel normal again.
