“So, girls, I need serious help,” you say, sitting down.
Both Teruhashi and Yumehara nod like their lives depend on it.
“What is it?” asks Yumehara.
You clear your throat. “What should I get Shun for our anniversary?”
“Oh, that’s a tough one,” says Teruhashi, fingers rubbing her chin.
“I know, right? So I was thinking-”
“Hey, Y/n.”
You swiftly turn around, only to see your boyfriend, Shun Kaidou, standing in front of you. He’s smiling and holding his school bag.
“You wanna walk home together?”
You look at his adorable expression and immediately feel really bad about having to let him down… but your anniversary is at stake!
You stand up and hold his free hand. “I’m so sorry Shun, but I’m really busy right now. We’re working on…” you look over your shoulder at Teruhashi and Yumehara, who are scrambling to pull out some schoolwork, “…a project.”
Kaidou looks a little disappointed, but he nods anyway, a soft smile returning to his face. “T- that’s fine, don’t worry about it.”
“But… tomorrow, okay?” You smile back, gently squeezing his hand.
“Okay.”
“Bye now.” You let go and sit back down in your seat, ready to come up with the world’s best anniversary present.
Kaidou, however, just stands there stupefied.
“You… you won’t give me a goodbye kiss?”
Of course, how could you forget? You meet his sad puppy eyes, jumping up from your chair.
“Oh! I’m sorry, Shun.” You hug him, pressing a kiss onto his cheek.
Kaidou’s face instantly lights up, his smile even brighter now (if that’s possible).
“Okay, byeee!” He waves and slings his bag over his shoulder. Before walking away, he doesn’t forget to add a quick “Love you!”
“Love you too, Shun!”
You walk back to the table with a huge giddy smile on your face.
Teruhashi looks at you with a confused expression. “Wow, that was…”
“Totally adorable!” Yumehara finishes her sentence.
You chuckle. “Yeah. He’s like that... Like a lost puppy or something.”
“So cute!” Yumehara squeals, clasping her hands together.
“Uhm, anyways…” you say, bringing everyone’s attention back to the task at hand.

The day has finally come - your anniversary! It just so happens to be on Valentine’s day. You’ll never forget the expression on his face when you gave him chocolate and asked him to be your boyfriend last year. It was literally the best day of your life!
And that’s why today has to be completely perfect. To say you went all out for his present would be an understatement… You just hope everything goes smoothly.
You got to school a little early, waiting for your boyfriend in the classroom. Yumehara has pointed out how twitchy you are, but you’re actually not nervous at all. Just a tad overexcited.
The second Kaidou walks in, you run up to him and throw your arms around him.
“Shun!” You’re so excited, you give him a quick peck on the lips, which catches him a little off guard.
“H- hi, Y/n.” He looks at you and you can see his cheeks turn red. He finally notices your arm, gently lifting it off his shoulder. “What…?”
See, you’ve wrapped bandages around your arms - just like his, but green.
You simply smile and bring a finger to your lips. “Shhh.”
He holds your hand in his, thumb tracing over the bandages and he chuckles to himself.
“Oh!” he looks up at you with a sense of urgency. “I got you a present. But, uhm… it’s at my house… ‘cause it’s a little too big.”
“That’s okay. Perfect actually. My present is also… Well, you’ll see.”
“What is it?!” Kaidou squeezes your hands, looking at you with with a twinkle in his eyes.
You chuckle. “I can’t tell you. It’s a surprise.”
“Oh…” There’s those puppy eyes again.
You cup his cheeks with your hands, causing his eyes to widen. “Shun, honey, don’t worry. You’ll find out soon enough.”
“Uhhh, PDA much?” you hear a classmate mumble.
Oh. There’s a couple students staring at you, which you didn’t notice until now. Luckily it’s Valentine’s day, so it’s not *that* strange. The Majority of the class is too distracted anyway - especially the Teruhashi club.
“Hah… Sorry.” You let go of Kaidou’s cheeks, slightly embarassed. “Well then, let’s meet after class, okay?”
You turn to walk to your desk, but you feel a hand clutching your arm.
“Wait a sec.” Kaidou pulls you in for a hug and gives you a quick forehead kiss.
“There. All good.” He grins at you before letting go and going to his desk. You could tell he was a little embarassed as well.
You walk back to your own seat with a blush on your face and a thumbs up from Yemehara.

The school day felt unbearably long, you wanted to bang your head against your desk on multiple different occasions.
But alas, you survived. Now comes the hard part.
You meet with Kaidou at the lockers and you can see he’s already super excited and restless.
“So? What is it? What is it?”
You laugh and pull something out from your locker. “You’ll have to wait a bit longer. But take this for now,” you say, placing a pendant necklace in his hands.
Kaidou holds this necklace like it’s his newborn child. “Whoah! What’s that?”
“It’s a magical amulet for protection. You’ll need it.”
“F- for what?”
“Oh… y’know.” You smile at him and help him put it on.
Kaidou holds the amulet between his fingers gently. “Thank you…”
“Well, let’s go,” you say, holding his hand in yours.

You’ve been walking for a couple minutes and nothing out of the ordinary has happened. Yet.
If your timing’s right, it should be right about…
“Jet Black Wings! Stop right there!” a strange hooded figure shouts after jumping out from behind a bush.
“AAAH!” Kaidou jumps up and sqeals, though he tries to cover it up with a cough. “Y- yes, I’m The Jet Black Wings! Who are you, scoundrel?”
The shadowy figure laughs menacingly. “The Dark Reunion has been looking for you for quite some time now. You pose a serious threat to our organization and for that reason, you must be eliminated!”
You act overly scared, hiding behind Kaidou. “Oh no!”
You can tell how nervous he is already, but he’s trying his best to not let it show. “You needn’t worry, my dear, for I, The Jet Black Wings, shall protect you!”
A sudden gust of wind comes blowing from behind the figure. Yes, Right on cue.
“Don’t think you can escape, fool! I’ll release the power of the… the Dark Force upon you!”
Eh, close enough.
The figure then takes his fighting stace and the wind blows stronger.
Kaidou seems a lot more nervous now and takes a step back. “Y- Y/n…?” Is he shaking?
Time to step in. You clutch his arm and whisper in his ear: “It’s okay. You can do it.”
He nods. “Okay. Get back.”
You do as he says and watch as he unwraps his bandages.
Right then the amulet on his neck starts glowing blue.
“Look!” You shout and point to it. Kaidou looks down and gasps. He touches the pendant and briefly glances at you with a smile. Good, he seems way more confident now.
“Heh. Alright, here goes. JUDGEMENT KNIGHTS OF THUNDERRRR!!”
A bright light flashes and there’s a loud thud as the evil figure falls to the ground and rolls a couple meters back. Huh, he’s really dedicated.
“What… what is that power?” the man groans and huffs, clutching his stomach. “I’ve… underestimated you. Jet… Black Wings… we will get you!” he shouts as he limps away. You didn’t expect Hairo to be such a good actor, you’ll have to really thank him later. And the others pulled through with the special effects! But… did it work?
One glance says it all.
“I DID IT! Y/N! I ACTUALLY DID IT!!” Kaidou shouts with the biggest brightest smile on his face.
“Yay, you did it, Shun!” You run up to him and jump into his arms. “My hero,” you say, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Kaidou laughs and hugs you tight, swaying side to side. “I love you. I’m so glad you’re okay.

The rest of the way Kaidou kept rambling on about the Dark Reunion and their plans to end the world and you kept listening attentively, with the occasional smile and nod.
“Oh, we’re here already,” Kaidou says, stopping in front of his house. “Don’t worry, my mom- I mean mother won’t bother us much… I hope.”
He opens the door for you and you step inside. It’s been a while since you’ve been here, so you’re a little disoriented.
“This way.” Kaidou grabs your hand and takes you to his room.
“Tadaa!”
You walk in and see a giant panda bear plushie sitting on his bed. “Oh my god, Shun, that’s so cute!” you sqeal and go take a closer look. “Wow… it’s so soft and fluffy. Thank you so much!”
“You like it??” Kaidou smiles. “I actually spent my whole allowance on it, hah.”
“Wait, seriously? You didn’t have to…”
“No, no, it’s okay. I’m glad you like it.” He sits down on his bed. “Here, take a seat.”
You sit next to him, moving the huge panda bear.
Kaidou looks down at his lap and fidgets with his hands. “Hey… Back there… did you really do all of that for me?”
You chuckle and place your hand on his. “Well… I did have some help.”
Kaidou sniffs and you notice his eyes getting watery.
“Oh no, are you sad? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-”
“No, it’s not that. I just… can’t believe you’d go through all that trouble for me.”
“…Why not? It was fun, wasn’t it?”
He finally looks at you and smiles. “Yeah... Yeah, it was really fun.”
“I’m glad.” You place your hands on his cheeks and wipe his tears with your thumbs. “Oh, sweetie, don’t cry.”
Kaidou hugs you and buries his face in your shoulder.
“Shhh, it’s okay,” you say as you gently caress his back and play with his hair.
“You’re the best girlfriend ever,” he says with a muffled voice. Your heart flutters in your chest and you hold him even tighter.

After a while, Kaidou finally lets go and gives you a quick kiss before holding your hand and admiring your matching bandages once more.
He interlaces his fingers with yours and smiles. “You know… you should totally wear this more often.”
