Work Text:

aizawa had been awake for a while, he didn't want to get up, the sun was hardly up and he was pretty sure his son had snuck into his shared room with hizashi a few hours ago he was sure he had a nightmare or just missed them, nevertheless hitoshi was definitely up and awake, he just didn't want to leave the bed, but still hasn't learned the art of sitting still and aizawa didn't quite yet feel ready to play with a 6-year-old at 5 o'clock after a few minutes of tiny cold hands on his bare back and the sound of giggling and rolling around he decides to get up and pick hitoshi up by his ankles "listen here" he says tiredly as his son hangs upside down and giggles loudly, he's not worried about waking up hizashi he can't hear them without his hearing aids but he whispers anyway "It is 5 in the morning spawn child, let me sleep" he says holding his son by the ankle upside down, hitoshi swings and giggles and laughs, and it's loud and snorty and its music to his ears "no!" he shouts "let me go!!" he yells through giggles and a big smile missing one front tooth and aizawa hushes him, his own smile dressing his face and brings him to his lap "hush kiddo, why are you up so early? you usually dont bug me till at least 6 maybe 7 on a good day" he whispers trying to get hitoshi to mimic him,

his son leans up and holds his face and does his little whisper yell and says "I'm hungry and I want choc-o-late spread on my toast for brecky" he pronounces the vowels in "chocolate" doing his best not to mispronounce it, aizawa kisses his forehead and says "no" and hitoshi groans very loudly making his displeasure known as aizawa picks him up and plops him on his hip as they make their way out of the bedroom "shhh if you wake up your sister, we're gonna fight"

"I'd win," hitoshi said with confidence oozing out of his voice and aizawa scoffed "No you wouldnt" his son glared at him as they walked down the stairs "Yes I wo!-" aizawa covered his mouth and shushed him again "sssssh what did I just say baby?," aizawa says with a light giggle in his tone, his son pouts as he sets him down on the bar stool in the kitchen and pulls out some bread and opens the fridge for jam before his son speaks up "nonono daddy I want the uhhh-" he points to the cabinet where the chocolate spread is and bounces in his seat a little bit "the thingy? the thingy we put on the plates when we eat grapes and strawberries?" he asks and aizawa sighs "thats for snacks hun not brecky, you can have PPnJ or you can have cereal" Hitoshi pouts "but why?" aizawa starts to make him a sandwich since he hasn't told him otherwise "cause its, not breakfast food"

The gentle sunlight slowly filters through the kitchen window, casting a warm and comfortable glow that envelops the room in a lovely, welcoming embrace. which is quickly disturbed by the groaning of a child but aizawa chuckles nevertheless "Sweetheart" he starts but is interrupted again

As Hitoshi groans for the umpteenth time crosses his arms and pouts and aizawa has to fight off a snort, hes learned that if he laughs or praises what hitoshi does he does it more often, so he tries to use that to his best ability, he reaches for the peanut butter and he hears his son whine but it wasnt angry or displeased it was just barely audible, it sounded more worried if anything

aizawa turned and looked at his son he was making an uneasy face and rubbing his hand nervously "What's wrong?" he asked and hitoshi mumbled something that he couldn't hear so He leaned closer to his son "What? kid You gotta speak up" Hitoshi looked up at him and said "Can I have something else? The peanut butter feels weird in my mouth" aizawa stared for a moment but nodded "Weird how?" he asked and hitoshi laid his head on the counter and plays with the wood "like it gets stuck in my mouth and teeth n stuff and I dont like it, it's gross" aizawa nods again as he puts the items away "doesn't the chocolate spread do the same thing?" he asks grabbing the sugary cereal and hitoshi nods "yeah but it's not as yucky, cus its cho-co-late" aizawa chuckles to himself again at his sons' way of speaking

he listens to his son hum a tune while pouring the cereal into a bowl, making sure to fill it to the right level so he doesn't spill it, he pours the milk in watching as it swirls and mixes with the cereal. After placing a spoon into the bowl, he hands it to Hitoshi, making sure it's within easy reach. Then, he turns his attention to preparing a pot of coffee for himself and Hizashi, the rich aroma of the brewing coffee filling the kitchen.

not long after the sun is up and high and hitoshi has finished his brecky and is playing on the patio, Eri and hizashi come downstairs, sleep still very present in their eyes, as they walk into the kitchen "Hi honey" Hizashi says hugging his husband from behind and letting his chin rest on his shoulder he kissed his husband's face and made Eri's breakfast and so started the day

Hizashi and Eri had a daddy-daughter date, which gave the day to aizawa and hitoshi and then they would switch the kids tomorrow and then all of them together the day after that, but for now, Aizawa wanted to spend the day with his goofy ass son

Aizawa observed as his son struggled to peer over the counter while paying for the ice cream he had chosen. Unsurprisingly, Hitoshi went for the banana and chocolate pudding flavor, which made Aizawa grimace, as he wasn't a fan of that particular flavor. However, he was happy to see his son enjoying it. Aizawa picked out his own Dutch chocolate flavor and joined Hitoshi at the table. Hitoshi eagerly hopped onto the seat and started devouring his icy dessert. "Tosh, slow down, you're going to get a brain freeze," Aizawa cautioned, but Hitoshi ignored him, happily kicking his feet as he spoke with a mouth full of ice cream, "What's Papa and Buggy doing?" Aizawa couldn't help but smile at the sight of his son's excitement, despite needing to slow down. He reached out to gently slow down Hitoshi's hand as he answered, "Well, they are having a daddy-daughter date, just spending some one-on-one time with each other." Hitoshi tilted his head, looking like a confused cat, and asked, "Why?" Aizawa took a bite of his own treat and replied, "Because spending alone time with each of you is important."

"Is that what we're doing?" Hitoshi asked, and his dad nodded. "Will I get to spend time with Papa too?" Hitoshi continued, and his dad nodded again, saying, "But don't worry about it right now. What do you want to do today?" hitoshi tilted his head side to side, something he does when he's thinking "I dunno" he says and shrugs and aizawa groans "offspring, your not helping" he said as hitoshi giggled and held out a spoon full for his dad to take a bite, aizawa grimaced and pushed his hand away "absolutely not, i dont want any of that" which made hitoshi giggle even more

they finish their treat and they start to walk the block, seeing if he can't find something interesting to entertain his boy with, his son isn't too talkative, he likes watching people, and He likes observing the world around him more than anything else, aizawa can't say he blames him, he'd never admit it but he loves people watching, He loves being nosey if he could sit down on a bench and just watch people go by and just exists he would, but he knows his son would get bored of that so he tries to think of something else

there's a splash pad not too far....but he doesn't have his trunks

we could go to the cat cafe.....no we just ate...

what does hitoshi like to do?

It's not that he didn't know, if they were home, he'd play with hitoshi and his stuffed animals or watch his favorite show, or color but thats the thing, Hitoshi doesn't like doing things outside of the house, He prefers playing at home with his sister, playing with the cats, or reading-

reading

he loves to learn aizawa thinks to himself and its like a light bulb explodes on his head

"Hey kiddo, how do you feel about going to the museum?" he asked. Hitoshi practically beamed with excitement and shouted, "YES!" Aizawa had to hush him while giggling, saying, "Shhh, shh, okay, okay, we can go." A smile lit up both of their faces as they shared in the joy of the moment.

hitoshi jumped and stomped his feet with excitement as they walked to the museum, asking a ton of questions all of which aizawa happily answered all of them

as they walked up into the museum hitoshi gasped and looked at the giant T-rex skeleton that met him at the door and giggled excitedly

aizawa could watch that smile all damn day

hitoshi dragged aizawa to every crook and corner going on about what he knew about whatever animal or dinosaur remains were in front of them and then read the plack to gain more information or scoff and say something sly like "Ha I already knew that" but if it was something he didn't know he'd stay silent and focused on the words, and aizawa loved watching him,

hitoshi was so excited as he leaned on the railing, bouncing on his feet, and pointing at the stegosaur. "Daddy! Dinosaurs didn't have scales like lizards, they're more like birds and chickens!" he said with a big smile on his face.

aizawa, In fact, did not do that "Huh...no I did not know that" he said and his son giggled with he little ego boost, he took his dad's hand and dragged him to the "Aqua exhibit", he was looking for the sharks' aizawa already knows, his son- (after a night with auntie midnight and watching "jaws")- has become interested in sharks, he was freaked out by the movie and wanted to know if thats how sharks actually behaved, Aizawa didn't know the accuracy of the movie's portrayal of the fish, but he was sure he'd find out soon

Hitoshi stared at a plack intensely, absorbing all the information like a sponge, while aizawa watched as the 3D video of the shark swam around, his son tugged at his sleeve and spoke still looking at the plack "They were wrong" he said and aizawa raised a brow "who?"

"in the shark movie, the sharks aren't mean," he exclaimed, looking up at his dad. "They don't ever really attack" he almost sounded sad as he looked up at the animated swimming shark not long after walking off to a new plack to read

He stood, quietly observing his son engrossed in every bit of text he could land his eyes on. The young boy seemed to be in a world of his own, completely absorbed in the words. Every time he shared something he had learned, it always began with "Daddy, did you know-" and Aizawa, listened attentively to every story, every discovery, hanging on to every word.

Soon as the day wore on, the little boy's eyes started to droop, they hadn't been there long but hitoshi was little and probably needed a nap and he absentmindedly chewed on his thumbnail as he stayed close to his dad, keeping his hand on his pant leg, seeking comfort and also using him as a means to be a guide so he didn't run into anything, he smiled and picked up his son and let him lay his head on his chest, hitoshi had horrible insomnia so any sleep is welcomed, "c'mon hon, lets go home" his son protested weakly but let his eyes shut nonetheless

As he made his way home, Aizawa cradled his sleeping son in his arms, the peaceful stillness of the evening broken only by the quiet hum of a soothing tune. The streets were empty, with scarcely a car or person in sight.

Upon reaching home, Hitoshi began to stir, still half-asleep as they entered the cozy living room. Mic and Eri were nestled on the couch, where Eri had succumbed to slumber while colorful cartoons flickered across the TV screen. Aizawa affectionately smiled at the scene, planting a gentle kiss on his husband's cheek before carefully settling Hitoshi beside Eri, where they would drift off to sleep. Joining his husband on the couch, Aizawa soon found himself succumbing to sleep as well as Mic raked fingers through his hair and hummed, the day's tranquility embracing their home.
