Chapter Text
“Xavier, are you sleeping?!” Your voice came out louder than you meant it to. You and Xavier were in the middle of watching Starlight Whispers, a movie you have been dying to watch but couldn’t because you wanted to watch it with Xavier. Your day offs finally matched so it was a good day to hang out together in his apartment.
“No?” Xavier softly said slowly opening his eyes, revealing his electrifying but gentle blue eyes. Your eyes twitch in annoyance as he denies his slumber when you catch him practically looking like the Snoozer you single-handedly fought a few days ago. Normally, you’d be fine with his tendency to sleep while you two are together but not this time. Not when it has been like what, two months? since the last time you two hung out together so you are beginning to feel irritated about why he is sleeping in the middle of a movie.
“We can watch another movie if you don’t like this.” You tried your best to hide the irritation in your voice. It’s usually hard to get annoyed at Xavier, whose angelic face seems to help you forget every bit of negative emotion you feel by just looking at him, however, it’s different today. You don’t know if it’s PMS or whatever but how dare he use this sweet time together with his pillow instead of you.
“No- it’s okay. I know how long you have waited to watch this together.” Xavier said, his voice was low and husky but maintained its softness. A warm smile tugs on the corner of his mouth while looking at you with his blue eyes. You bit your lower lip, fighting your inner demons to stop you from biting his cheek because my god, he is so cute.
You managed to stay sane as you said nothing, giving your attention back to the movie and forgetting the irritation that you felt for a bit. In the corner of your eyes, you noticed that he turned to the movie as well.
Halfway into the movie, you hear a faint snoring sound and your brows automatically furrowed. You quickly turn your head to the boy whose side of his face slumped on his pillow. You watched in disbelief, annoyance slowly creeping up your emotions again. Ugh, not again. You thought to yourself.
“Xavier!” Your voice is now louder and you mean it. The cuteness aggression you felt towards him earlier has now shifted to frustration. As much as you want to control yourself, it’s hard when you feel unseen that he’d rather sleep than spend time with you.
Surprised by your loud voice, Xavier’s body flinched and his eyes flung open as he realized what was happening. “Sorry babe-“ Xavier slowly rubs his eyes. You watched in silence while a short yawn escaped his mouth, stretching and slowly blinking at you, making sure the stars in his eyes were gone. If you weren’t as irritated, you’d comment about his cat-like appearance at the moment but alas, your annoyance has consumed you and your night is ruined.
“Xavier, do you want to rest already? We can hang out next time when you’re not tired.” You said, brows still furrowed but managing to control yourself from saying anything sarcastic to him. Okay, Xavier aside, you do not know what is wrong with you and how are you so easily annoyed today. You made a mental note to check your period app when you have a moment later.
“We can conti-“ before Xavier finishes his sentence you already gave him a dismissive and angry “No.”
You watched as his warm eyes dimmed into sadness while his lips bent down, resembling an innocent child whose favorite candy had been stolen.
Oh god. I made him upset. You thought at the back of your mind.
“I’ll just go home today. Please take a good night’s rest.” Your voice was now painted with guilt but whatever, you’re not in the mood to deal with him or anything at this point. You marched towards his door, trying hard not to slam it as you closed it without looking back at Xavier.
“Stupid Xavier-” You mumbled to yourself while heading to the elevator, pressing the button for your floor with a quick jab of your index finger. As you made your way to your apartment, a wave of negative thoughts swirled through your mind. How could he be so insensitive? It has been a long time since you have hung out together yet he’d rather sleep. If he’s tired, he could have told you instead of pushing himself to stay awake.
You propped yourself onto your bed to quickly check the period app on your phone. Your suspicions were correct —shark week was approaching—but that didn’t make your feelings any less valid. You closed your eyes in an attempt to clear your mind when suddenly his dejected face disrupted your thoughts. You quickly flew your eyes open, only realizing now that you had been mean and unfair to your angel of a boyfriend and that you maybe needed a good night’s rest too. Sighing and rubbing your eyebrows in guilt, you resolved to apologize to him first thing tomorrow before drifting off to sleep.
---------------
The sun peeking through your bedroom’s curtains woke you up to a start. You quickly grabbed your phone, hoping there’s a message from him but there’s none. Sighing in defeat, you headed to your bathroom and splashed cold water on your face, hoping to shake off the weariness and fully wake yourself up. Moments later, you found yourself heading to Xavier’s floor, still wearing the star-patterned pajamas you bought because they reminded you of him. As you reach his place, you tried to come up with possible scenarios on how to apologize to him. What would his expression be? Is he going to be mad at me? Is he still upset? Regardless of his reaction, you knew you needed to make things right.
Feeling anxious, you firmly pressed your finger onto his doorbell but there was no response. Maybe he’s still asleep? you wondered, glancing at your phone’s clock, which read 3PM, a time when he’s usually awake. You rang his doorbell again, but still, there was no answer. Hoping to reach him another way, you dialed his phone, but there was no response either. You were beginning to get worried as there was still no answer after three call attempts. You bit your fingernails in a futile attempt to ease your worry. Xavier was a heavy sleeper but he was never difficult to wake up.
Remembering you had a spare key to his apartment, you hurried to the elevator, breathing heavily as you frantically pressed the button for your floor. You dashed inside your apartment upon arriving and rummaged through your work bag. “Please please please” You muttered to yourself, hoping to find the key he had given you when you got into a relationship with him.
After what seems like forever, you find the somewhat old-looking gold key that you have been looking for. Heart racing, you hurried to Xavier’s place and swiftly inserted the key into his door, entering uninvited. Expecting to find his tall figure resting on his bed, he was nowhere to be found. Instead, you saw his clothes lying on the floor
and a fluffy kitty cat staring up at you from Xavier’s scattered clothes.
At this point, you are starting to get dizzy because where is Xavier? Ignoring the kitty cat for the moment, you called out, “Xavier?” from across his room, only to be met with a small meow from the feline. As you bent down to face the feline, you couldn’t help but notice that it had electrifying yet gentle blue eyes strikingly similar to Xavier’s. Not too far beside the feline, who is sitting in a relaxed position with its paws tucked neatly underneath, you spotted a shimmering silver round item. Picking it up for a closer look, you realized it was Xavier’s promise ring. You returned your gaze to the cat who was looking at you calmly. You took a nervous gulp, unwilling to admit it but wondering if this cat might be him-
“Xavier?” you called out to the cat.
“Meow~” the feline purred, softly blinking at you.
Your legs turned into jelly as you accidentally dropped his promise ring, feeling as if the weight of the world had come crashing down on you. Not knowing what to do, your mind raced with the shocking realization that your boyfriend had turned into a cat. Voice trembling, you muttered to yourself, “Oh no, Xavier just turned into a cat.”
