Chapter 1: The (Reoccurring) Case of the Yellow-y Eyes

Chapter Text

Upon entering the room, the boys were greeted by two shining yellow eyes and a very directed hiss.

”Yup, still hates me,” Charles grumbled, discarding his school bag in the small corner nearest Edwin’s bed.

The other boy followed behind, flipping on the main lamp and illuminating the furry creature that was currently creating quite the dent in the mattress. Another hiss came; the house-sized predator’s ears turned back, his head towards Charles.

Edwin swooped down to pick up his large cat. “Oh, stop that, Thomas, really!” He maneuvered the cat, Thomas, into a cradle in his arms since he was about the size of a small child. “You have known Charles for years! And he’s only ever tried to pet you!”

“And feed you, and try to play with you, and try to respect your space-”

Edwin clicked his tongue and tilted his head in disapproval. Below his chin, his pet looked up at him with widened pupils as he reached his front paws up to make air biscuits. The ginger maine coon was extremely darling, and extremely lovey…if you were a teenage boy who loved to read, had green eyes, and was called Edwin.

The boy knew his cat was an asshole, (it was, after all, the first thing the sanctuary warned him about) but he always held out the hope that Thomas would eventually take to liking another human…respectively, the human Edwin liked and had liked for so many years.

He sighed. “Why can’t my two favorite boys just get along, hmm?” He inquired the question more to the large orange furball in his hands rather than to his boyfriend, who had since taken over the spot on the bed Thomas was withholding.

Charles huffed. “ ‘Favorite boys’, eh? Got anymore of those I should be worryin’ about?”

Edwin scoffed humorously. Rolling his eyes, he walked two paces back to his door frame and lowered the four-legged creature out and down into the hallway outside. Thomas, as usual, looked betrayed. Edwin raised his brow, as to telepathically communicate with his most cherished pet. Perhaps, Edwin hoped, Thomas would trot downstairs and torment his younger sibling…(in place of him scratching at the door and loudly meow-ing as the two boys would attempt to initiate…well, anything.)

…Where is Jasper right now, Edwin considered as he closed his bedroom door.
