The bar was as rowdy as it could usually get at such an hour, but a certain someone had caught Vein’s attention. White hair and pale eyes darkened with clouds as if the sky outside were reflected within them. No smile played on his face, not even the slight quirk of lips when he ordered and received his drink.
Mysterious. Vein liked that. It was the same thing that had drawn him to Liu Xiao and, by extension, Xia Fei. Well, just the initial thing that had attracted his attention. He could sense something else in this stranger, and with a shared nod from his partners across the room, Vein made a move.
Sitting opposite the white-haired stranger, Vein kept his hands on the table. He knew he could be intimidating, and didn’t want to scare him off. He might be able to prove useful.
“Looks like you got a lot on your mind,” Vein started. “I have a pretty good reputation for having a keen listening ear”.
“…I doubt you’d understand. It’s…like there’s something wrong with me…”
Vein knew the feeling. Xia Fei had felt the same. Liu Xiao had been more accepting of the knowledge, but Vein still recalled the glimmer of fear in his eyes when they’d talked.
“Believe me, friend, I think I’ll understand a lot more than you think”. He dropped his voice, “You have a…power. Don’t cha?”
Pale eyes widened, shooting up to stare directly into Vein’s. “H… H-How did you—”
“My partners and I all have them too,” was his simple reply. “I can sense it in ya”.
“…So, it’s…not something to worry about?”
“Not as far as we’re aware. The three of us can help you if you’d like”. He nodded to where the other sat in a dark corner by themselves, watching, “Hat guy is Liu Xiao; the brains. Fake blond is Xia Fei; the beauty. And I’m Vein; the boss~”
“…Lu Guang”.
Vein grinned. “Well then, welcome to the team, Lu Guang. Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of ya, kid”. Seeing the handshake they then shared, Liu Xiao and Xia Fei made their way over, each wearing sly smirks.
“Welcome aboard,” Liu Xiao held out his hand for a handshake of his own.
“No fair, XiaoXiao, you allllways say it first!”
“What’re you talking about, we haven’t had anyone else before him?”
Vein stifled a cackle. “Well then, Lu Guang, I formally welcome you to The House of the Hotheaded”.
