Work Text:

He should have known that the pretentious bastard would have come here. Daniel almost couldn’t blame him. The Louvre was beautiful at night. Instead of sweaty, selfish crowds, Daniel walked the empty halls with carefree ease, pausing here and there to admire various art pieces that had never caught his eye.

He found Armand sitting on the floor, staring at a statue of a man and woman embracing. He didn’t move even as Daniel stopped behind him and read the information aloud.

“Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss,” Daniel said. He tilted his head to the side and looked at the gentle features staring at one another, their arms entrapping one another as they leaned forward to kiss. “Pretty good,” He said finally.

Armand scoffed. “Good,” He sneered as though Daniel had sat at him. “Canova was a genius. His sculptures are still treasured to this day. Centuries after their creation.” He turned to look up at Daniel from over his shoulder. “Do you believe your work will carry such a legacy?”

“No,” Daniel admitted. “But my fancy Pulitzer’s will,” He said with a wink.

Daniel smirked as Armand rolled his eyes before holding out his hand and waiting for his maker to take it. “Come on, that was funny,” He said as Armand placed his hand into Daniel’s and allowed him to pull him to his feet. Daniel nodded to his bare feet. “You walk around Paris like that?”

“No,” Armand said, his hand still in Daniel’s. “I left them by the door. Too restrictive,”

“Ah, I see,” Daniel said.

He began to lead Armand to the door, their joined hands hanging between them, until he found Armand’s loafers tucked against the wall. He picked them up and handed them to Armand, who held them loosely in their free hand.

“Where are we going?” Armand said as he continued to follow Daniel through the door.

“I got a room nearby,” Daniel said. “We’ll go there for tonight and head home tomorrow night,”

“I don’t have a home anymore,” Armand whispered, his hand beginning to tremble in Daniel’s.

“Yes, you do,” Daniel said. “I’ll always make sure of that,”

“Do you forgive me for what I have done?” Armand asked. “For making you like me,”

“I don’t know,” Daniel admitted. “Have you?”

Armand shook his head. “No,” He said.

Daniel pulled him closer and wrapped his arm around his shoulders, letting him lay his head on his shoulder as they continued to walk. It was the first real silence Daniel had heard since his turning. It was nice. Comforting.

It felt right.

Notes:

After multiple failed attempts, I did it. I finished the first prompt for this month. Suck it, Depression!
