A Fresh Start In The Valley

Summary:

Monty Li gets a brand new start in the Valley. However, things such as bullying, talk him up into getting into karate. Hopefully, being the so called voice of reason allows potential disasters to be avoided.

Chapter 1: Welcome to The Valley

Chapter Text

“You sure I can’t drive?” I ask my sister.

“No, you don’t even have a license yet.”

“C’mon Amy. I’m still a great driver.”

“Yeah because outdriving cops and driving 50 over the limit is such a great feat. Look, you are not touching a wheel without me in the car until you are 16 and have a license and that is final.”

Yeah yeah, how much longer until we get there?

45 minutes, should be more like 5 minutes if it wasn’t for this traffic

Amy wasn’t kidding, LA traffic was a monster, I could get out of the car and run and it would take much faster to get to our new house than to drive.

45 minutes later

“Well Here we are. Our new home in Encino.”

Amy then does one of those dorky poses in front of our house that only celebrities do.

“You look dumb” I tell her.

“I do not” She replies in a sassy tone.

“How did we afford this? Because houses in California and especially here aren’t cheap. Especially this big.”

“Baba’s money he left us. Also I started a new job at LaRusso Auto soon.”

“Baba was rich, also I saw that the owner did karate in high school and was pretty good.”

“Haha, true. Look movers won’t be here until tomorrow so why don’t you go check out the neighbourhood, go see if there’s any kids your age.”

Hey, I can help move a few boxes out of the car

“It's fine. Monty just go and make new friends. Being a new kid isn't easy especially when you don’t have friends”

“Ok fine mOM.”

“Don’t mOM me” Amy replies back to me.

I walk around the neighborhood before catching a shorter brunette girl walking through her side gate to the front of her house. She’s Cute too.

“Hi,” She says.

“Hey” I responded back.

“I’m Sam”

Monty, I just moved here

“Sam Honey?” Another Voice calls out “We’re going out to the country club. Are you sure you don’t want to come?”

“Yes Mom, maybe next time”

“Alright, Sam. Your loss.” Called out another voice, this time more masculine “And who is this?”

“Dad, this is Monty. He just moved down this street.”

“Nice to meet you ma’am, sir.”

“Hi I’m Daniel, Sam's dad. This is my wife Amanda.”

“The Karate Car commercial guy?”

“Yep. That's me.”

A pudgy kid walks out and then notices the scar on my right palm. Goddammit David why'd you make me climb that tree?

“Wow cool scar, what happened to your hand?”

“ANTHONY! I am so sorry.” Amanda tells me

“Don’t worry about it. It’s alright. Look I’m gonna keep exploring the neighbourhood but it was nice to meet you guys.”

“Nice to meet you too, Monty. We’ll see you around” Sam’s family gets into the car and drives off.

“Sorry about Anthony.” Sam says.

“It's alright, really. It happened from a climbing a tree.”

“Okay then. Look, my parents don’t know, but I’m hosting a pool party, care to join?”

“Sounds cool, but Imma take a rain check. I literally got here 30 minutes ago. And don’t worry I won’t snitch on you either.”

“I’ll hold you to that." Sam laughs "Bye Monty. And Welcome to the valley”

“Thanks. See you later Sam.”
