a gentle breeze drifted across the pavilion. it was warm, it carried on it the promise of warmer nights and scorching hot days to be spent here, at the beach, or at a job to be taken up during the summer holidays. the sun was low on the horizon, its last rays stretching dancing golden echoes across the pool. it filtered through the leaves on the poplars lining the right side of the pool area, turning their insides radiant and casting a shadow towards the house. a slightly stronger gust brought the murmurings of music being played in the orchard, joyous major chords reverberating out of an old guitar. the gust went on its way, taking the sound of music with it out past the slope of the valley and down to the ocean. it was quiet, away from the lively crowd, but still close enough to feel connected to them. it was peaceful, and it had a certain feel to it, one that you'd know if you came across it.
most of all, it was... nice.
