Work Text:
The Wakawa house residents are a bit strange.
Tsumugu and Sosei have a bit of a complicated relationship over the months they've spent together. Something that isn't quite like friends, but nothing as serious as lovers.
Sosei’s openness when it comes to caring about his roommate, and Tsumugu’s sensitivity for him and his personal feelings. The bond was unspoken, but it was obvious enough for the two of them to notice.
By the time their feelings reached such a high point, they never really discussed it properly at all. It was always– in their terms, “consideration for their current relationship.”
…Until just recently when Sosei got seriously drunk at the Wakawa house—one thing led to another, some confessions, some realisations, nothing too crazy.
So here they were, together. They've sorted out what they needed to, and have been staying like how they usually were, with the only addition of more… closer activities.
Sosei Morotomiya was not a touchy guy, evident by how he always refused Tsumugu’s advances to hug him even before they started dating. The only way to get to his heart back then was either through sweets, or through being persistent like how Tsumugu was.
Though nowadays, he's a bit more lenient with his roommate’s physical contact.
It started out with putting an arm over his shoulder, maybe hand holding, maybe hugs that weren't too obvious. It was a gradual change that shifted with one small occasion of them drinking together—
“Do you want to kiss?”
Sosei didn't look too flushed but it was clear he was a little tipsy. Tsumugu on the other hand, hiccups at such an invitation.
“D–do I want to…?”
“That's what I’m asking you, yes.”
“Ah… haha.”
“Don't laugh…”
The two of them looked at each other for a bit in silence, waiting for the right moment to move. Sosei then places his hand on Tsumugu’s arm and leans in, closing his eyes.
(Holy shit…!)
Tsumugu, in a bit of nervousness, immediately presses his lips on Sosei’s, slightly smacking him in the face. Nevertheless, the two carried on like it was nothing.
Sosei’s lips were cold, but they were also really, really soft—when they parted, it felt like a whole new world opened up to Tsumugu.
There was one thing that particularly grabbed him, however.
(Bitter…)
Tsumugu fixated on the taste of beer that stuck on to Sosei, licking at the seams of his mouth and slipping his tongue in, he could almost imagine the beer foam from the drinks they had just seconds ago.
It didn't make him want to pull away, however, it’s as if he felt far more drunk from it.
The adrenaline, the feverish feeling rushing throughout his body—really, what's alcohol to the act of making out with Sosei Morotomiya?
…Their kiss was sloppy, though, to say the least.
Sosei cupped Tsumugu’s cheeks while the boy leaned in on it even more. Their teeth kept meeting each other which brought out some small sounds of whining from Sosei. It didn't help that the both of them were practically out of breath after the fact.
It was Tsumugu’s first—a drunk, clumsy, bitter-tasting first kiss.
“God… gang boy, you're terrible.” Sosei says, as he wipes the saliva off his mouth.
Despite the remark, he sounded a bit more affectionate rather than annoyed. The two of them look at each other, terribly red, even more so than how they were when drinking earlier.
“Y–you could cut me some slack…”
“Ah, right. You're a virgin, after all.”
“You don't need to say it like that. I even watched movies for this.”
“You… you did…?”
“Well, in Pretty Woman they—”
“...Tsumugu.”
Sosei cuts him off, grabbing the collar of his shirt and tugging it towards him. He kisses Tsumugu, albeit a bit more softly than earlier, and pulls away quickly.
“I really didn't think you could be even more of a virgin than how you currently are… Ah, but seriously, don't worry too much. It's fine.”
Sosei pinches the boy’s nose with his index and middle finger. “I like how you are.”
“...Oh, what's that?” Tsumugu retorts, acting like his heart didn't jump from that sentiment at all.
“Hey.”
“Hehe…”
Weirdly enough, this kiss tasted a little sweeter than the first.
(Sosei tastes like cigarettes today…)
Tsumugu Taki is a bit of a weirdo.
The two were a little more intimate than before now, mostly on a whim. Sometimes it’s Tsumugu who initiates, sometimes it’s Sosei. But something that always happened, and something that only one of them was aware of, was how Tsumugu always took note of how the other tasted like.
“...You’re in a daze. What's wrong?” Sosei asks, noticing the small silence straight after.
Maybe he was a little bothered whenever this happened. Tsumugu was cute every time he felt bashful, how he smiled and chuckled a bit afterwards had always made Sosei feel fuzzy inside. But he never knew what the boy was thinking at all—was he thinking of something else? Did something about the kiss bother him? Was it just a weird habit of his to zone out?
(Ugh…)
Yeah, no, it did tick him off a little.
Sosei, out of a little concern, apologises to Tsumugu. “Sorry, I smoked a bit earlier.”
“Ah, no, it's alright. I don't mind!”
“...You said that with so much enthusiasm, do you like it when I taste like cigarettes?”
“Well, not like… I mean, I like you kissing me either way, but,” Tsumugu laughed, absolutely flustered. “Ah– don't worry about it!”
(...He got too embarrassed to continue.)
That was that though.
Sosei didn't really know what to do other than think about those little moments of silence. It even bothered him to the point of cutting back on his tobacco for… lollipops.
Actually, he didn't really mind either way.
It was around morning when Tsumugu was supposed to leave the Wakawa house to go and visit his hometown. Miss Son and Kagemoto had already wished him safe travels last night, while Sosei made an effort to wake up pretty early to see him off.
They both stop by the door, Tsumugu waiting for his roommate to say something before he leaves. To his surprise, Sosei stoops down a little, meeting his face and pecking him on the lips.
“You go and take care...” The half-awake man says.
Unlike some other instances, Tsumugu answers almost immediately.
“A–ah, right. Since you've been eating a bunch of sweets lately, I could get you some fruit when I come back so you could at least eat a bit more healthy?”
“Huh. That'd be nice.”
(Wait a minute...)
“Okay, I’ll see you around! Don't miss me too much!”
Sosei sighs, “Yeah, sure. I won't.”
(Huh…)
He wasn't sure if this was what you called a morning epiphany, but Sosei had gotten the weirdest hunch he's ever had in his life.
Tsumugu Taki is definitely a weirdo.
“Tsumugu, come here.”
“Eh?”
Tsumugu returned from his trip yesterday. Still feeling a little tired. He went to Sosei’s room to relax for a bit, with some of the oranges he brought back for him.
The boy sat closer to Sosei, both of them on the floor.. Nothing felt out of the ordinary as he went straight to town peeling some fruit. But before Tsumugu could ask, “What's up?”, Sosei pulls the collar of his shirt and presses his lips against his.
It felt hungry, something so unfamiliar from Sosei. Tsumugu didn't expect the kiss to be so deep either, he felt his mouth feel hotter by the minute, heart rate rising while his breathing became more sporadic. He blanks out for a second.
Trying to earn a little more control, he places his hands on Sosei’s waist and pulls him closer, removing any more distance they had previously. Tsumugu couldn't even tell whether the muffled sounds that action made was from him or Sosei at this point.
(S– Sosei… tastes like… toothpaste…?)
Sosei pulls away from Tsumugu, breaking eye contact as they both start panting. The two of them try reorganising themselves afterwards.
Tsumugu cleared his throat, “I– ha… I didn't expect you to miss me that much at all…” the boy’s thoughts were all over the place. “Oranges… taste terrible after you've brushed your teeth though…”
Tsumugu licks the corner of his own lips unconsciously. Sosei clicks his tongue, as if catching a criminal in the act.
“Tsumugu… y– you've been noting how I taste, haven't you?”
“...Ah!?”
“It took me a while to notice, I’ll give you that.”
“You mean, it was obvious?”
“I’d say staring into the distance after we've made out on a good number of occasions made it kinda obvious.”
“Oh…”
“I– I’m not scolding you.” Sosei tries to add. “It's just…?”
“It's still a weird habit to have, no?”
“...I can't argue with that.”
The two laughed at the scenario they found themselves in, with the first instance of miscommunication in their relationship being something so trivial as creating a habit of knowing what your partner ate after making out.
“Ahh… um, really though. Sometimes you taste like cake, other times it's like ice cream—cigarettes and beer when we celebrate together as well, but… I don't mind any of that at all, Sosei.”
“Huh. You really don't?”
“When you ate kimchi last time, I didn't mind!”
“...Ugh.”
Feeling warmth bubbling up inside him once more, Sosei glanced away in silence, completely taken aback by Tsumugus ability to say something like that with a straight face.
He's fine with it though.
“You…” Sosei places a hand on his own forehead, annoyed.
“I what?”
“...I think you'll really be the death of me one of these days.”
“Haha, no waaaay!”
The two went on to peel some oranges.
Tsumugu Taki and Sosei Morotomiya are both pretty weird.
