Work Text:
Davis lay on the floor of the bathroom. He had the stomach bug of course. Cody had gotten it first and it had spread through their group of friends like wildfire. Davis had thought he was immune; it just turned out he was doomed to get it last.
He groaned as his stomach rumbled for food. Davis looked back up at the toilet and gagged, how could he be hungry when he puked up everything he had eaten in the past five hours.
Davis struggled to sit up, sliding on the tile floor. But he eventually managed to sit up to see the toilet. Davis would’ve asked for help from his family, but they were out of town at the moment. He could’ve texted one of his friends, but they were so busy trying to catch up on school work from the days they missed that he didn’t want to bother them.
This was one of those moments Davis missed having Veemon around. He had gone back to the digital world as he had to, but it just made Davis’s life more lonely. He had become accustomed to having him around all the time, and without him Davis felt empty.
Davis stood up shakily trying not to puke again as he did so, and gently flushed the toilet as he left the bathroom.
He plopped down on the sofa and groaned as he tried to make himself comfortable. Apparently when your stomach hurts nothing feels comfortable.
Davis must have dozed off at some point, because he was startled when the doorbell rang. He jumped up before remembering how sick he was. Davis crawled from the floor and to the front door.
He opened it a fraction and peered up at the person at the door.
Ken Ichijoji stood at the door with a tote bag in his arm.
“Why are you on the ground?” Ken asked, as Davis pushed the door open, so Ken could see him.
“I’m sick.”
“No dip sherlock,” Ken said, walking in. He knelt down and wrapped one of Davis’s arms around his shoulder. “I felt it from back home.”
“Wow I guess my presence does stretch far.”
“It was the Jogress bond.”
“Jogress bond-the fact you love me, potato potato,” Davis said, grinning.
Ken blushed and looked away. “Just let me get you to the couch dumbass.”
Davis rolled his eyes, “fine, but why are you here don’t you have school work to do? It’s a mighty long ride to just come over to pull me up from the floor.”
“I came to take care of you. My mom made you some rice, and you’re going to eat it.”
“No,” Davis said, once they reached the couch. He plopped down and looked away from Ken. “Don’t make me!”
“You have to eat at some point. And also hydrate.”
“I’d rather dydrate.”
“That’s not a real word.”
“Whatever,” Davis said, grinning. “Go get me my tea, servant.”
Ken snickered and walked to the kitchen and began preparing some tea. Davis smiled despite the fact he felt like absolute shit, he hardly had any time with Ken alone. They were best friends, but they didn’t spend much time alone together because of the distance between them. If they were going to hang out it would be with the whole group.
“It’s all ready,” Ken said, walking over to Davis. He shook himself out of his thoughts.
“Thank you,” Davis said, taking a sip of the tea.
“Now you should eat.”
“No!” Davis said, backing away from Ken, who had already pulled the tub of rice from his tote bag, and had a spoon out.
“I’ll force feed it to you,” Ken said, getting closer to Davis.
“You’d never!” Davis said, backing into the corner of the couch.
Ken pinned him in the back of the couch. His knees straddled him, and Ken’s face was dangerously close to Davis’s.
Davis opened his mouth in surprise, but he was stopped before he could say anything. Stopped by a spoonful of rice.
“I could hear your stomach rumbling from the other room, Davis. You need to eat something.”
“Fine whatever,” Davis said, rolling his eyes; his mouth full. “Didn’t have to feed me like a baby though.”
“Sure whatever,” Ken said, sitting next to him on the couch. “Like you would’ve eaten it if I had forced you.”
After Davis swallowed the first bite he found himself craving for more. Although the food was bland and boring his stomach didn’t hurt as much as he thought it would.
“I’m tired,” Davis said, once he had finished his food. The food and the sickness were making him feel drowsy.
“Okay, you can go get ready for bed, while I clean your plate,” Ken said, standing up.
“I don’t wanna move,” Davis said, lying down on the couch.
“Where am I going to sleep then?” Ken asked, as he washed the plate.
“On the couch with me.”
“Oh- okay,” Ken said, blushing.
Ken walked over to the couch and Davis shifted so he could lay down next to him. It was a small couch so they were touching quite a bit.
Davis rolled into Ken making him lie on his back. Davis rested his head on Ken’s chest. He knew Ken would be fine with it, they had hugged like this before. Of course they had never slept like this but it was the same standard.
Ken relaxed and wrapped his arms around Davis. Finally the pain in his stomach seemed to melt away under the warmth he felt from Ken.
He nuzzled Ken’s chest before falling asleep. Davis hoped they could stay like this forever.
