Chapter Text

He flickered in and out of consciousness. Glimpses flashed before him only to turn to black. Yelling and fighting is what he mainly heard along with destruction. His head throbbed with pain. He heard MK and Macaque primarily. He kept hearing them trying to call out to him.

Consciousness finally came back to him. He could barely tell where he was, but it seemed to be a camping van, similar to the one during the hunt for the samadhi fire. He heard MK distantly yelling for everyone. Ringing filled his ears. Then he saw Macaque looming over him. He groaned, shoving his face away from him.

“Well good morning to you.” Macaque responded in a very salty manner. He slowly sat up. Everyone stared at him as though he was just killed.

“Take it easy there, King.” Tang cautiously informed him, walking over.

“Why- what happened…?” MK glanced at everyone, but they all stayed silent. “Ugh. Why does my head hurt so much?” He rubbed the side of his head when he felt cold metal. His eyes widened with fear. He desperately tugged at what was clinging onto his head but was stopped by Macaque.

“We need you to take it easy.” Macaque told him.

“Why? I'm fine.” He smiled but he felt so weak. He met the concerned stares of the group. “...what happened?” Wukong tried to ask again but was welcomed with no response. MK was desperately trying to hold something in. “Guys?”

“GAH- NEZHA'S DAD SOMEHOW TOOK YOUR IMMORALITY AND PUT THE PAIN RING ON YOUR HEAD!” MK blurted.

“MK!” Everyone shouted. 

“..Pshhh. No one can take my immortality, kid.” Wukong stood but collapsed to his knees. MK ran over. Wukong stared at his hand, noticing the less god-like glow he formally had. MK had to be lying. He just had to be. “I'm fine.” He tried to reassure him.

“Are you sure?” MK tried to ask.

“Yes! Just a bit wobbly!” He attempted to stand, grabbing onto Macaque for support.

“For someone claiming to be okay, you are very heavily leaning on me.” Macaque wrapped his arm around Wukong's waist to help keep him up.

“Oh, shut up. I'm fine. I'm immortal 5 times over! There's no way Li Jing took it from me!” Wukong seemed very confident about this.

“Are you seriously okay? Li Jing really did!” MK worryingly asked.

“I'm okay.”

“You should lay down-”

“MK.”

“You can barely stand!”

“MK, I'm-”

“Just lay down! Please. We can handle this.”

“MǐN.” Wukong yelled. He hated yelling but MK probably wasn't going to shut up anytime soon. His head throbbed with pain. MK and the rest froze. MK immediately backed down.

“..Whos Mǐn?” He heard Mei quietly ask. Tang and Pigsy immediately looked at Wukong with suspicion. Macaque sighed, throwing Wukong on one of the beds and heading to the front, forcing everyone up. 

“Okay. How does he know your name? Did you tell him?” Pigsy immediately asked.

“I didn't!"

“Your name is Mǐn?” Mei questioned. “I'm your best friend and not even I knew…”

“I swear!” Tang's eyes widened, swiftly looking away, huddling Pigsy over.

“It was probably a random guess.” Sandy tried to rationalize.

“It is a common name!” Mei added.

“Yeah yeah!” Tang hesitantly agreed, looking nervous. 

“...what are you two hiding?” Mei asked, glaring at them.

“..NOTHING.”

“Tang, you are a horrible liar.” Pigsy admitted. Macaque opened the door back to the sleeping area only to stop in his tracks.

“Guys.”

“What?”

"Where's Wukong?”

“Huh-?” They all look in the back to see Wukong missing.

“WHAT?! HE- WE LOOKED AWAY FOR A FEW MINUTES!” MK yelled, shoving open the back doors but there was no sign of him. “HUH-”

He overheard the quiet whispering of the group in the front. How foolish they were to forget his heightened hearing. He sat up from the bed he was forcefully put in, his head throbbing still. He looked at his shaking hands, knowing that he shouldn't be testing how mortal he is but it was worth it. He opened the back, hoping on his cloud and zipping away. He couldn't bare to have the group see him like this. He was ment to be the unkillable one of the group, all powerful almost. He had to go see if atleast someone had answers.

He zipped over the hot lava that felt hotter than normal. He started feeling more exhausted by the minute. He crashed into the stone castle wall and laid in the ruble for a minute. That hurt a lot.

"...MY WALL." He heard the one person he wanted to see. He was tugged out of the ruble and held up in the air like a child. "WUKONG. MY WALL?!" 

"...I'll fix it." He won't.

"WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING HERE?!" DBK yelled at him, steam huffing out of his nostrils.

"Listen. Listen." DBK allowed him to speak. "...Okay, you normally don't allow me to speak so now I don't know what to say."

"My love, why are you yelling?" Wukong heard Iron Fan speak up. 

"THE MONKEY BROKE OUR WALL." DBK yelled, shoving Wukong over to the view of Iron Fan, who was taken aback by Wukong's apperance. Tired, weak and not all there. She's been fighting Wukong for centuries but this wasn't the monkey she's been fighting. She slowly peered over to the damaged wall. It was less damaged then what he normally does. Then she noticed the circlet.

"Your little monk got tired of you?" She asked, gesturing to the circlet. DBK was confused, looking at the crown.

"Its-" Wukong sighed. 

"Aswell, I have never seen you so exhausted." Wukong laughed.

"No. I'm fine. Really! Just wanted to see how my best enemies are!"

"Well. For your information we don't have peaches, and we stopped buying them after your 4th break in." Iron Fan informed him, sighing.

"Well. I also have an issue."

"What is it?" 

"Ehehehe..well. My immortality, right?"

"DID YOU MANAGE TO GET IMMORTAL FOR THE SIXITH TIME?!" DBK yelled. He swore. Everytime he saw this damn monkey he was even more immortal then the last.

"No! No! I just lost it." Iron Fan stared at him with a calculating glare.

"How do you lose your immortality? It isn't a house key." She questioned.

"Well. So. I don't know."

"How?"

"I was unconscious for most of it! Li Jing just- took it."

"How?!" Both Iron Fan and DBK asked.

"I DON'T KNOW- PUT ME DOWN YOU ARE CRUSHING ME." Wukong whined. DBK did so.

"I know the celestial realm tried before but was unsuccessful, so how did he take it?"

"I. Do not. know." Wukong said it slowly. "Ask Macaque. He was there." She thought for a minute. 

"Very well."

"Wait wha-" DBK grabbed him again. Iron Fan rose her ran into the air and with a wisp of fire, all 3 were gone.

"WHERE COULD HE POSSIBLY HAVE GONE?!" MK whined, panicking. He frantically looked around the area.

"Maybe flower fruit mountain?" Tang suggested.

"But none of us can get there WITHOUT MAGIC." 

"Calm down, kid. He'll show up soon."

"BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT HES DOING! HE HASN'T BEEN MORTAL FOR- FOR- Was he mortal?" He turned to Tang.

"Yes." Tang angrily corrected. He told him this.

"FIRE TORNADO." They heard Sandy yell before the truck swerved, slamming everyone into one another.

"Huh-?" Macaque ran to the front. The fire tornado died down and there was DBK and Princess Iron Fan. Tang squeeled, before being shoved away by Macaque, who ran outside. "Oh, did you idiots team up with the celestial realm and decide to capture us?" 

"I do not know where you're talking about. What did you do there?" Iron Fan questioned.

"Listen, Princess, we're not coming with you 2. Now stand back before we ram into you." DBK wasn't paying attention, his attention was set on something else hidden behind Iron Fan. She turned to look behind her to what DBK was looking. Her face sneered with curiosity. 

"I want to know what happended to Wukong."

"YOU KNOW WHERE MONKEY KING IS?!" MK yelled, sticking his head out the window.

"Yes-"

"WHERE?!" She heard 4 people scream.

"Before I tell you. What happended."

"Ugh. Something happended when we 'saved the world'. The celestial realm wanted to talk or something with us but we escaped and on the run."

"What about Wukong?"

"Sun- ugh. He was getting mouthy again."

"And that deserved his immortality to be wiped and bounded?" She stepped out the way to reveal Wukong, weak and near passed out on the ground. He had small burns on his fur. "I had not expected he wouldn't be able to withstand my fire." Macaque ran over. "He broke in, looking for answers." Everyone stepped out of the truck, but Sandy.

"This mortal thing sucks." Wukong told Macaque, who scooped him up in his arms. He hissed with refusal.

"I dont know. I suppose because of his crimes but that was a long time ago." Macaque tried to reason but that didn't make sense. It was so long ago too...

"That may be it. Or Li Jing is planning something, being aware of Monkey's immortality and how difficult it is to rid of him, I would not be surprised that's why he took him out. He has experience with the monkey and would also have reason to believe he would try to take the throne like he's done in the past. The group quietly listened while Wukong struggled to get out of Macaque's grasp, seeing no way to do so. "If we repeat the steps Wukong took to gain immortality we could bring it back." Wukong groaned loudly.

"I see. But we don't have the time. While we deal with Li Jing, Wunong will just have to deal with being a mortal."

"My biggest concern is he'll forget he's immortal and get himself killed." Princess Iron Fan added with concern.

"I WONT." Wukong was getting annoyed with being held onto by Macaque. 

"We'll keep an eye on him.." He gestured to the group who slowly inched themselves closer and closer. Tang more so to get a closer look at Princess Iron Fan and DBK. The sky glowed yellow with a celestial symbol opening. "CRAP. We stayed too long." Everyone started running back to the truck. 

"We'll hold them off." DBK informed them, getting ready to throw some hands. Macaque nodded and ran back to the truck, throwing Wukong in the back and hopping in. 

"SLAM IT." Pigsy yelled at Sandy, who did so.
