Work Text:

Heavy rain pours outside, the constant sound of water droplets hitting the floor serving as a nice background noise in a otherwise silent night. And with the non-stop rain, came along cold weather.

Currently, Dave was wrapped in a tight blanket cocoon, alongside Karkat. There wasn't much to do outside thanks to the rain, so both boys decided to settle down on the couch and watch a random movie. He had been the one to choose what they'd watch, but truth be told, half of his attention was on the troll snuggled close to him instead of the colorful images and loud noises on the TV.

KARKAT: SERIOUSLY, DAVE, YOUR TASTE IN MOVIES IS REALLY FUCKING *TERRIBLE*.

KARKAT: NO JOKE, WHAT IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE? SOME KIND OF FUCKED UP MOVIE FOR WIGGLERS?

DAVE: what no

DAVE: you just cant appreciate a masterpiece dude

DAVE: i mean take a look at this

DAVE: probably the best thing in cinema like cmon

Opposing his words, Dave knew very well it was a shit movie, and this was why he chose it.
you gotta love it ironically. Also, Karkat's reactions were very amusing to him.

KARKAT: NO, REALLY, WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS? AN ATROPHIED GRUB COULD DO BETTER THAN WHATEVER THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF THIS TRIED TO.

KARKAT: IF I SLAMMED MY HEAD REPEATEDLY ON A KEYBOARD, IT WOULD CREATE A BETTER SCRIPT.

DAVE: if you don't know how to enjoy good filmmaking just say it kitkat

Karkat shifted, sinking deeper in the pit of soft cloth made by the blanket, effectively hiding part of his face on it, and crossing his arms (even though Dave couldn't see it, thanks to the blanket).

KARKAT: DON'T CALL ME THAT, YOU STUPID FLIPPING PIECE OF HORSE SHIT.

All the troll received as a awsner was a small smile sweeping into Dave's face, his arm wrapping itself around Karkat's shoulder, which in result made them snuggle closer to eachother.

As much as they'd bicker, staying like this was nice, Karkat had to admit. Even in warmer weather, the duo would find themselves glued together before any of the two could realize, almost as if some kind of invisible force pulled them together. Still, as Karkat stared at the screen ahead, his brows furrowed.
OF COURSE *THIS* IS THE KIND OF BULLSHIT DAVE CHOOSES FOR US TO WATCH, I DONT KNOW WHY I EXPECTED ANYTHING ELSE. He can't even say something cheesy like 'the only good thing about this is that we get to spend some time together', because they spend time together no matter what they are doing, so is not like the movie matters. He yawns, the late hours of the night finally catching up to him, and he can see Dave's head turn in his direction as he does so.

DAVE: was the movie so boring that youre falling asleep

KARKAT: NO, OF COURSE NOT. THAT WAS THE BEST THING I COULD'VE EVER LAID MY EYES ON, DAVE. ALL THE HOT BULSHIT SPEWED ON MY POOR HEAR DUCTS SURELY ADDED TO THIS AMAZING EXPERIENCE.

DAVE: im glad we agree on how good this is

Dave glances at the TV screen as the movie credits start to roll.

DAVE: tbh im kinda tired too

DAVE: what time is it even i bet is like well past midnight at this point isnt it

DAVE: might as well say good morning instead of good night when we decide to fall asleep

Dave doesn't bother untangling himself from Karkat as he flops down on the couch, which made the troll fall awkwardly with him, claws digging briefly on his skin as Karkat tries to (uselessly) scramble up before he ended up on the ground with a thud.

KARKAT: I HATE YOU

DAVE: aw i love you too man

Dave earned a grumpy stare, before Karkat slowly made his way back to the couch, shoving himself under the blanket, laying on top of the other boy lazily. Dave reaches for the TV remote, turning it off, and with the now dark and silent room, it doesn't take long before both fell asleep.
