Chapter 1: The Tale of Two Demigods

Chapter Text

Percy Jackson never wanted to be a Half-blood. He wanted to live a normal, semi-normal in his case, life. Away from all the dangerous quests and responsibilities that came with being an unnatural being like him. He wanted to be normal, he wanted to experience what it felt like to go to school without the constant threat of having his teachers expel him for doing unnatural things on the first day, or first week if he survived that long. His ADHD and dyslexia didn’t give him any favors either. He failed every class he had and he could barely sit still most of the time.

At first, he thought he was normal. He thought that him getting in trouble in school and him being an abnormal kid was normal. For him at least.

He would get picked on all the time, at every school he went to he was considered the weird kid. Why? Because he saw things that no normal person would see, things that would classify him as the weird kid. And for a long time, he was alone, with nothing but him and his thoughts to keep him company.

That’s until he met Grover Underwood.

Once Percy met Grover, they became friends instantly. Not only because they were the lowest of the low when it came to social skills, but because Grover understood him. He listened to his stories and not once would he judge him on them. Percy felt like he had made his first best friend. A friend that would never leave him, a friend that would never judge him or tease him. A friend that would never stab him in the back.

That is…until that day.

Percy’s school, Yancy Academy, was on its way to a Museum of Arts in Manhattan to learn about different Greek and Roman Gods and Heroes. Percy was standing in front of a statue of Perseus. He was holding Medusa’s head proudly.

Perseus. Percy thought. His mother, Sally Jackson, told him all about him. About how he slayed Medusa, his glory moment, as he liked to say. As he kept looking at him, he kept envisioning the talk he and his mother had.

He remembered what he said to her that day.

Not everyone who looks like a hero is a hero, and not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster.

Those words kept repeating in his head the more he looked at Perseus and Medusa. He was so lost in thought that he didn’t notice his Pre-Algebra teacher, Mrs Dodds, standing right beside him.

“This is a wonderful sculpture, Mr. Jackson,” She said, startling Percy.

After a moment, Percy relaxed and nodded. “It’s…something.”

Mrs. Dodds looked at Percy, turning her body to him. “You notice something about this sculpture, Mr. Jackson?”

Percy looked at Mrs. Dodds before looking back at the sculpture again. “Not really, no,” he admitted. “Am I supposed to?”

Mrs. Dodds scoffed before turning back to the sculpture. “People like you always see things like a blank screen. Just plain nothingness,” she muttered, loud enough for Percy to hear. “Life isn’t just plain nothingness with you, Jackson.”

Percy turned to her. “What do you mean by that?” he asked. “Am I supposed to see something?”

Mrs. Dodds looked at her watch before smiling and turning to Percy. “Come with me, Mr. Jackson.”

Percy looked confused but followed anyway.

On the way to the door, the most dreadful sound was heard.

“Ooooh,” they called to the class. “Percy’s in trouble! Chopped the head off of a statue? You know that’s illegal, right?”

Percy sighed. Nancy Bobofit. She was only one of Percy’s bullies. She bullied him and Grover almost constantly, only stopping when a teacher caught her. It would make Percy angry whenever she’d put Grover into whatever ramble she put her and Percy into. Grover would always reassure him that it was okay, that he didn’t need help, but the constant bruises on his face told Percy otherwise.

Percy heard Grover sigh as he continued to walk towards Mrs. Dodds.

“What’s the matter, Percy? Too afraid to talk?” Nancy laughed.

He heard Nancy getting closer, her taunts getting louder.

He grumbled. He wasn’t gonna get in trouble. Not here, not now.

He continued to walk, and he was only a few steps away from the door when he felt Nancy grab his arm.

“I said, what’s the matter, Percy?” she said with fake sympathy. “You don’t want to talk to me?”

Percy groaned. “Leave. Me. alone, Nancy,”

Behind him, Nancy smiled. “Or what?” she asked.

She then squeezed his hand.

“Well,” she said, letting go of his hand. “ you’re no use. Maybe I should go ask your Friend!”

Her voice got higher on the word friend which made him angry. He turned around and stormed towards Nancy. He turned her around and before he could do anything, a gust of wind came and pushed Nancy in a nearby fountain.

Nancy got up, spitting out water while other kids surrounded her.

“Percy pushed me!” she yelled, making some of the teachers on staff surround her.

Percy stepped back, astounded by what happened.

“Perseus Jackson!”

As soon as he heard Mrs. Dodds calling him, he sprinted to the other room where she was.

As he made it to the other room, he skidded to a stop, completely out of breath.

“Mrs. Dodds,” he said between breaths. “You won’t believe what hap-”

“I knew it,” Mrs Dodds said, turning around to face him. “I knew I would find you here, Half-blood.”

Percy looked at her confused.

“I knew it would be a while until I found you out,” she said. “But I finally did.”

Percy scoffed, confused. “What are you…”

Percy trailed off once he saw her transforming.

That’s right. Mrs. Dodds was transforming in front of him. Her old teacher charade was gone. Replacing her was a giant lady-dragon thing.

“What the…” he said, completely at a loss for words.

“You have a price to pay Perseus,” Dragon Dodds smiled. “Time to pay it!”

—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heather Agulera was as normal as you’d expect from a child of Hades if a child of Hades was normal at all. Children of any one of the big three whether it was Zeus, Poseidon, or even Hades, were strictly forbidden due to the pact they all made after the second world war. And here she was. Sleeping in the Hades cabin by herself like it was completely normal, even though it wasn’t.

After she and her older twin brother, Logan, were claimed by Hades and Poseidon when they were four, both of them were considered outcasts by everyone, not because they were weird, but because of who their parents were. Hades and Poseidon were the two strongest gods besides the lord Zeus himself. Having a child was considered dangerous in their eyes, so they vowed never to have any more.

That was until Zeus broke that oath when he claimed Thalia Grace. Heather didn’t know about her, but mostly everyone knew her story. She and two others were getting chased down by two cyclops when she sacrificed herself to save her friends. Right as she was dying, Zeus took pity on her and made her into a pine tree so that her soul could live on in there. Ever since then, the pine tree has been a symbol of protection that made their borders stronger.

Heather didn’t know what life was like outside of Camp Half-blood since she and Logan were sent here when they were two years old. They didn’t even know who their mother was or what she even looked like, all they knew was that Chiron saw her bringing her here and just told him to take care of them, and she never came to visit them and camp has been their home ever since.

Heather was born a year or two after Thalia was. Lots of people say that Heather and Logan were a kind of revenge to Zeus for breaking the oath first, and after thinking about it. They might be right.

Heather only wished that their mother at least cared enough to see them, at least once. If she was at least alive right now. She knew that most mortals could see through the Mist, and since her mother came here probably scratch-free, then she couldn’t, which kind of made her disappointed and kind of glad that she might be safe.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a knock at her door.

“Heather! It’s almost breakfast and you’ve been in there for half an hour! I know you’re a child of Hades but they need to eat too, you know!”

Heather smiled. One of the only people who didn’t dismiss her was Mackenzie Runes. Daughter of Athena. She is super smart and compassionate, even though she is also super competitive. That was something that All Athena's kids had, and Ares's kids. The Athena and Ares cabins fight like a lot. Mackenzie was one of the only ones who didn’t want to get near an Ares kid to gloat, which is why she is less of a target to them.

They first met when they were both five years old. Heather was having a hard time controlling her powers since she made them come out by accident. Aside from Logan, Makenzie was the only one brave enough to calm her down, and since then, Mackenzie made a promise to always protect her, and that promise has never been broken since.

Heather tiredly got out of bed. She took off her bedclothes and put on her regular clothes, her orange Camp Half-blood T-shirt with grey jeans and put on her black tennis shoes and made her way out of the door. Makenzie was waiting outside for her, leaning against one of the poles.

“Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you? We almost missed the Breakfast bell!” Mackenzie scolded.

Then, just as she said that a horn was blown in the distance, signaling the start of breakfast.

Mackenzie looked at her with an annoyed face. “You’re lucky, Heaths,” she said as they both turned to go to the mess hall for breakfast.

“So,” Heather asked as they made their way to the mess hall. “Are you sitting with me today? Or did Mr. D scold you for it last time?”

Mackenzie smiled. “If no one else took him seriously, what makes you think I will,” she said. “Of course, I will sit by you today, I wouldn’t miss it.”

Heather smiled. Kids weren’t supposed to sit with people from other cabins, but every day Makenzie made it her mission to break that rule, even if it meant three weeks of cabin or kitchen duty. It didn’t matter if it meant sitting beside her best friend.

Heather was grateful to have a friend like her to talk to or to hang out with. She didn’t care if she was a forbidden child, she liked hanging out with her and that was all that mattered.

But then Heather’s smile faded.

“Hey, Kenzie?” she asked. “You wouldn’t be mad if I asked you for something, would you?”

Mackenzie scoffed. “Hit me with whatever you got, Heaths. What is it?”

Heather sighed. “Can I get your crystal mirror?”

After hearing that, Mackenzie stopped in her tracks, right in front of the door of the mess hall.

She sighed. “Please don’t tell me you’re still trying to get in touch with him. Heaths, he’s been captured, what makes you think he’ll answer?”

Heather pursed her lips, frustrated. Logan was captured by one of the gods a year ago and ever since then she tried to go to save him, but to no avail, since Chiron would always catch her in the middle of the night. Even her power of invisibility would be of no use since Dionysus would always sense her trying to leave and would stop her.

She knew that Makenzie was not a fan of Logan, since she was a child of Athena, and Athena and Poseidon, Logan’s dad, were rivals, so that meant that no child of Poseidon or Athena was bound to be friends, no matter how close they got with each other.

Mackenzie sighed. “After my studies, maybe I’ll let you look into it to get to Logan, but this will be the first and only time, promise?”

Heather smiled as she hugged her friend. “Promise!”

Mackenzie smiled. She knew she couldn’t say no to her best friend no matter how hard she tried.

They both made their way to the Hades table when Makenzie felt someone grab her arm. Mackenzie and Heather looked to see Makenzie’s sister, Annabeth looking up at her.

“Where are you going, Mackenzie? I talked to Mr. D and he wanted me to tell you that you can’t sit at the Hades table anymore,” she said.

Heather’s heart sank.

“I can sit wherever I want, Annabeth. Plus breaking the rules is way less important than seeing my best friend alone by herself!” Mackenzie pulled away from her sister.

Heather and Makenzie’s heart dropped when they heard a stomping sound behind them.

“Well, Michell,” Mr. D said. “If you’re so intent on breaking the rules, then you would be more than happy to do horse duty on top of your Kitchen and cabin duties for the next two weeks, on top of being suspended to your cabin for an extra three weeks.”

Mackenzie’s jaw dropped. “What! Mr. D, that’s not fair! Five weeks just for sitting with my friend?”

“This isn’t your first offense, Michell. I’ve given you many tries to obey the rules and you still haven’t done anything of the sort since last year. So either sit with your cabin or face your punishment.”

Heather looked at her friend sadly.

“It’s okay, Mr. D,” Heather said to him. “I’ll go to my table.”

Mr. D smiled. “If you know what’s good for you, you would, Harly.”

“It’s Heather,” she told him.

Mr. D rolled his eyes. “Whatever, Hennie.”

Heather rolled her eyes, which Mr. D luckily didn’t see. She went to her table and sat down. She looked up as Makenzie was staring at her, annoyed, which made Heather uncomfortable.

Are you angry at me? Heather thought.

Mackenzie sighed. Of course, I’m not angry at you, Heaths. I’m angry at Mr. D.

Ever since Heather found a telepathy ring, she and Makenzie have been using it ever since.

H- Of course you are. You should be. It’s hard having him instead of Chiron.

M- Right! Where is Chiron, anyway?

H- He said he’s going somewhere for a few months, wouldn’t tell me where though.

M- He’s so easy to talk to but hard to get answers out of! Ugh!

H- I know, right? Heather then looked over at Mr. D, who was munching on a rib. What if another god led this camp instead of Mr. D?

M- Ooh! That would be interesting! But which god do you think would lead us?

H- Um…lady Artemis, probably?

M- Lady Artemis is too busy watching over her hunters to watch a whole camp.

H- Right…plus it wouldn’t be much fun since she’s probably gonna boss the boys around all day…which when I think about it, that would be fun!

M- I know right? But, what about my mother?

H- Lady Athena? I don’t know about her. Don’t tell her this, but I don’t trust her judgment when it comes to children.

M- Heather!

H- what? I’m just being truthful! I really don’t!

M- you can’t say that about a goddess!

H- what kind of Goddess tortures her disciple for something someone else did?

M- ...doesn’t matter-

H- it really does.

M -you can’t say that about a goddess, Heather!! Especially the goddess of wisdom!!

H- for the goddess of wisdom, she isn’t that smart when it comes to people.

M- HEATHER AGULERA!!

H- oh come on, Kenzie! I’m right and we both know it!

D- what are you two talking about?

Heather jumped, startled by Mr. D’s sudden intrusion.

D- oh, come on! What did I miss out on?

H- nothing important, Mr. D.

D- really? Cause I heard a lot of things about me and a lot of sassiness for Athena.

Heather and Makenzie looked at each other from across the room, completely busted.

D- oh, don’t look so defeated. What were you talking about?

Mackenzie then looked at Heather with a sly face.

M- yeah, Heather. Tell him what you were talking about!

H- MAKENZIE

Makenzie looked at her with a smile that looked like she was winning.

H- we were talking about who would lead the camp instead of you…

There was a moment of silence until Mr. D started laughing.

D- yeah, kid! Athena is not the person you want running this joint.

H- see, Mackenzie!

M- but you didn’t have to say that you “don’t trust her judgment when it came to people!”

D- if I’m being honest, she really isn’t-

M- shut up, Wine dude!

The three of them went quiet for a moment until Makenzie got up to throw her portion of her food into the fire. Heather went towards her.

“I’m sorry, Kenzie, but-!” Heather started, but Makenzie stopped her.

“I don’t want to hear it!” she said as she turned to her friend. “I spent my whole life trying to please my mother, and if she hears us talking about her like that, she’ll literally disown me! So because of you, I might be in trouble with my mother!”

Heather tried to apologize, but Makenzie just walked away from her, going back to her table.

After a moment, Mr. D spoke again.

“Well that was a bust, am I right?” he laughed.

Heather looked at him angrily.

“Shut up, Wine Dude.”

—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Percy was completely scared and freaked out about the lady dragon that was just chasing him around the spare museum room. He was ducking under carriers trying to hide from her, but each time to no avail. She would throw every one like they were nothing. Like they were just a stack of empty boxes to her.

Percy was running away from her until he reached a dead end.

The lady-dragon was smiling, getting closer and closer to him. Percy was almost shaking in fear until he saw something sharp go through her stomach.

The lady-dragon screamed and in a mere moment, she turned into a pile of dust and completely disappeared.

Percy looked and saw his other teacher, his Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner, holding a sword. He was the one to kill the lady-dragon.

“Percy!” he said, rolling towards him.

Grover, who was beside him, also ran to his friend.

“Percy, are you okay?” he asked.

Percy, still shocked, started rambling.

“Oh, you guys won’t believe what happened!” he started. “Okay so first, Mrs. Dodds and I were by this Perseus stature and she started talking to me, and then she told me to follow her into a room, so I tried, and then, there was this thing with Nancy, and so Mrs. Dodds called me to her, and then when I arrived in this room, Mrs. Dodds turned into this giant dragon thing and then you came, and….yeah.”

Grover and Mr. Brunner looked at each other.

“Percy,” Grover said. “Who’s Mrs. Dodds?”

Percy looked at Grover like he just did something incredibly stupid.

“Who’s Mrs. Dodds? Grover, she’s our Algebra teacher,” Percy stated.

Mr. Brunner cleared his throat.

“Percy,” he said. “You never had a teacher named Mrs. Dodds.”

Percy looked at them confused. “What do you mean? She was with us on the bus for the trip, I’ve been in her class all semester- Grover, you’re in her class with me!”

Grover just shook his head. “I-I can’t recall having a teacher named Mrs. Dodds.”

Percy scoffed. “Are you serious?”

Mr. Brunner and Grover looked at each other again. This time not giving him an answer.

Percy scoffed again.

“I think it’s best if you go back with the rest of the class, Percy.” Mr. Brunner said.

Percy nodded. “I’m expelled aren’t I?” he asked. “For the Nancy fountain incident?”

Grover pursed his lips before walking closer to his friend.

“We’ll get to that when we get back to Yancy, Percy,” he said as he and Percy walked out of the room with Mr. Brunner following close behind.

.

.

.

Percy was in the principal’s office. Of course, he was. He was being accused of pushing Nancy Bobofit into the fountain, although he said hundreds of times that it wasn’t him, they just wouldn’t listen.

The principal was looking at him with a stern expression, something Percy had seen all too well. Grover was sitting beside him, his expression as still as stone. Percy didn’t expect that from someone like him.

“Mr. Jackson,” the principal said. “This will be your last warning. I will say this once and only once. Did you push Nancy?”

Percy looked at Grover, he still had a stone-cold expression, he was a lost hope.

Percy sighed. “I didn’t push Nancy!”

The principal sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. He then looked at Grover.

“Well then,” he said, looking at Grover. “Mr. Underwood. Did you see Mr. Jackson push Ms. Bobofit into the fountain during the museum trip today?”

Percy looked at Grover. He was his ride-or-die. He was certain that he wouldn-

“Yes sir,” Grover answered. “I did see Percy push her.”

The principal sat up with a satisfied look on his face, but he wasn’t smiling.

“That’s all I needed to hear,” he said, turning back to Percy. “Mr. Jackson. You are-”

“Hereby expelled, I know, I know,” Percy groaned. “Heard that too many times already.”

“I expected better from you Jackson,” he said as he dismissed the boys from his office.

.

.

.

Percy was waiting at the bus stop for his ride. He expected he would get expelled, but he didn’t expect his own best friend to throw him under the bus like that. Some best friend he was.

Percy heard someone coming towards him and looked to see Mr. Brunner beside him.

“Are you alright?” he asked.

“I didn’t push Nancy,” Percy said, annoyed.

“I know you didn’t,” Mr. Brunner said. “Well, I know you think you didn’t.”

Percy groaned. No one believed him.

Mr. Brunner sighed. “I’ve come to give you this.”

He reached into his pocket and grabbed a cap pen and handed it to Percy.

“This is a very mighty weapon that will come of good use,” he said as Percy grabbed the pen.

Percy looked at him like he lost his mind.

“This is a pen…this is a pen!!” he said. “How the heck will a pen be of good use to me!!”

“Once you know of its power, you’ll know,” Mr. Brunner said.

Percy scoffed. “What power? The power to make me fail every class I have?”

Mr. Brunner sighed as he and Percy looked to see Percy’s ride coming.

“Well,” he said, looking at the pen. “Thanks, but I don’t know how much luck a pen will give me.”

This time, Mr. Brunner smiled. “Not now, but when the time is right you will.”

Percy pursed his lips as he opened his side door. “I guess,” he said as he car and closed the door.

—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heather was desperate. Desperate to apologize to Makenzie, but also to get to her mirror. Of course, she didn't prioritize the mirror over her friendship, but if the worst came to worse.

Heather had goosebumps as she walked to cabin 6. She needed to apologize to her friend before anything else.

She knocked on the cabin door and was immediately greeted by one of  Makenzie’s siblings, Annabeth Chase.

Annabeth had black hair and dark skin. She had on the regular camp T-shirt with light brown shorts. Annabeth was one of the smartest children of Athena Heather had ever met, aside from Makenzie of course. She was only a year younger than her, and yet she was more smarter than her. She could think of almost anything and everyone would agree with her, everyone aside from the Ares cabin. Just like all the Athens kids, she never had a great relationship with Logan, though they seemed to tolerate her.

Annabeth sighed. “If you want to find Makenzie, she’s at the sword fighting arena.”

Heather smiled, thanked Annabeth, and went to find Makenzie.

.

.

.

Heather walked to the Sword-fighting Arena to see Makenzie dueling with an Ares kid, and it looked like she was winning.

Heather just stood there for two minutes until she watched Maknzie unarm the kid and pin him to the ground.

Kenzie laughed. “Who’s pathetic now? You lost to a girl, jerk!” she said as she smiled proudly at him.

Makenzie looked up and finally noticed Heather and her expression dropped.

She got off the kid and he walked out of the Arena defeated. He noticed Heather and patted her shoulder.

“Good luck with her,” he said. “She’s tough when she’s angry.”

Heather eye’s widened. She’s angry at me? She thought. Just great!

She took a deep breath as she started walking towards Makenzie.

“Kenzie, I’m-”

“I don’t want to hear it, Heather,” Kenzie told her. “You could’ve apologized after you said it, but you kept egging it on!”

Heather winced. “Well…to be fair, you did tell me to tell him what we were talking about. I was just being honest!!”

Kenzie rolled her eyes.

“Just don’t talk to me right now, Heather,” she said, putting up her sword.

Heather sighed and turned around to walk away, but she then got a really stupid idea.

“Well,” she started. “What if I beat you in a little sword battle, then could we talk?”

Kenzie looked at Heather and just bursted out laughing.

“You? Beat me?” she said between laughs. “You can’t even pick up a sword, Heather! What makes you think you could beat me?”

Kenzie studied Heather’s face and noticed that she was serious. Her expression turned serious as she picked her sword back up.

“You’re serious, aren’t you?” she asked. “Well then, meet me here exactly after dinner when the last bell has rung. Let’s see if you’re that desperate for a talk.”

Heather sighed nervously as Kenzie walked out of the Arena holding her sword.

Great. Heather thought. First, you lost your best friend, now you’re gonna lose your life…could this day get any worse?

.

.

.

Heather didn’t go to lunch. Instead, she was in the Arena early, practicing her skills on the practice dummy that they had.

She was hungry, sure, but she’d missed out on lunch more times than often since she was six. This was normal for her.

Heather was striking the dummy as much as she could, making sure she had the right moves on it. She was getting the right positions on it when someone came up behind her and grabbed her arm. Startled, she grabbed the person and judo-flipped them. She gasped when she realized who it was.

“Ouch!” he said. “I didn’t know a thirteen-year-old had the strength to do that! Respect though!”

Heather panicked.

“Luke! Oh my gods, I am so sorry about that. Here, let me help you up!” she said, helping him up.

Luke chuckled. “No worries, Heaths, it’s all good.”

Heather smiled nervously.

Luke Castellan. The head counselor of the Hermes cabin, and one of the most good-looking people at camp. He came to camp 5 years ago alongside Annabeth and Thalia when Heather was eight years old, and ever since they were first introduced to each other, Heather looked up to him, first as a leader type person, now as something more. He had beautiful black curls and light skin with blue eyes. He has this huge scar across his face. Only his closest friends know where it’s from since he doesn’t like to talk about it much. Heather luckily was one of those friends, and she promised not to talk about it with anyone outside him and Annabeth.

Luke sighed. “So. I didn’t see you at lunch, where were you?”

Heather looked at him nervously. “I had the stupid idea to challenge Kenzie to a Dual, and now I have to beat her if I want to talk to apologise to her for what I said earlier.”

Luke winced. “Oh, you are dead, Heaths.”

Heather gave him an annoyed expression. “Wow! That made me feel so much better!” she said sarcastically.

Luke chuckled at her. “I mean it, Heaths. What did you think would happen? Your dad would suddenly give you a lucky advantage against her?”

Heather wanted to say something but stopped. “That’s not a bad idea.”

Luke pinched the bridge of his nose. “You are so full of yourself sometimes.”

Heather raised an eyebrow at him. “Is that a bad thing? Everyone has to be full of themselves once in a while.”

Luke sighed and they both turned around and heard a horn sound, signaling the end of lunch.

Heather sighed. “Wish me good luck? Kenzie’s gonna kill me.”

Luke smiled. “Not if you kill her first,” he said as he planted a soft kiss on her cheek. “Good luck.”

Heather turned red as Luke walked out of the Arena and Kenzie walked in.

“Wow,” she said. “Not even the best swordsman in camp couldn’t help you win this…sad.”

Heather was tired. She just wanted to get her friend back. A very stupid idea, yet she’s doing this for her friend. Her best friend. And she’s making this difficult by being difficult.

But…she’s right. She should’ve had Luke coach her while she was here. Dam! She groaned.

She just took a deep breath. It’s okay. She thought. I just have to stay alive as long as possible or just tire her out long enough. I can do this.

While they were putting on their armor, Kenzie just burst out laughing.

Or she’s gonna kill me before I even get the chance. Why the heck did I agree to this?

—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only thing Percy liked about his day was the trip he took with his mom.

Sally Jackson. The queen of all mothers, and the only person who has never tried to stab Percy in the back. She was the most honest person in his life and she would do anything to keep him safe.

Even marry the most insufferable person on the planet. Gabe Ugliano.

His name fits his personality. He is the worst person Percy has ever met, which is saying something cause he’s met a few messed up people.

Sally and Percy took their well-deserved trip to Montauk for a little vacation away from him, which was something they both needed.

Percy didn’t tell her about the fountain incident, or the lady-dragon thing. One, because he thought she already knew, and two because she didn’t want to put her under the already added stress she had with Gabe.

Percy was in his bed, extremely relaxed. He was staring at the ceiling until he finally fell asleep.

.

.

.

He was in a desert. He was surrounded by nothing but sand. Endless amounts of sand.

He turned around and saw a boy lying in the sand. He was looking up at the sceneless sky.

Percy ran to the boy and looked at him closer. He had ocean-blue eyes, black hair, and light skin. He wasn’t saying a word, he just stared at the sky.

“Logan?” someone called.

Percy looked up to see another person. A girl. She also had black hair, but she had dark gray eyes and light skin.

The girl looked around until she turned to look at Percy. She looked at him surprised before running to him.

“You!” she said. “Where is he?”

Percy looked at her confused. “Where is who? Hi-?”

Percy looked behind him to find out the boy had disappeared. Percy turned back to the girl.

“I don’t know who you’re talking about!” he said.

The girl looked at him before tears came out of her eyes.

“Find him! Please!” she said, sobbing.

Percy was still confused, but still tried to comfort her.

“Hey, hey! It’s okay! It’ll be okay,” he said.

“No it won’t,” she said. “Not until you find him, things won’t be okay! They’re looking for us, and if you don’t find him, we’re doomed!”

Percy’s confusion turned into surprise. “What do you mean? Is the world gonna end?”

She didn’t say anything and the desert started to disappear.

“Hey, hey, hey! Wait! Tell me more! Wait!” he yelled.

She still didn’t say anything and the desert completely disappeared and Percy woke up from his dream, startled, scared, and confused.
