Work Text:
Moiraine and Siuan strolled down the street, the city alive with the hum of nightlife. Lanterns hung between buildings, casting a soft golden glow over the crowd that swirled around them. Laughter echoed through the streets, and music from a nearby pub blended with the buzz of conversation.
For once, there were no pressing matters, no secret plans or hidden agendas—just a night that belonged to them.
Moiraine had a rare smile tugging at her lips. Siuan, never one to shy away from joy, bumped her shoulder playfully.
"You’re enjoying yourself," she teased, her brown eyes sparkling with mischief.
Moiraine lifted an eyebrow but couldn’t hide her amusement. "I suppose even I am allowed to indulge every once in a while."
Siuan laughed and pulled her closer, slipping an arm around her waist. The warmth of the night and the nearness of each other made them both feel lighter, the world’s worries temporarily distant.
They wandered aimlessly, eventually stopping at a small vendor selling brightly colored sweets. Siuan, always the one with a taste for the playful, picked up a lollipop and unwrapped it, sticking it between her lips with a grin.
"Want a taste?"
Moiraine rolled her eyes but leaned in, taking the candy from Siuan’s mouth with her own, her lips brushing against her in the briefest of touches.
Siuan laughed again, a sound full of affection, and took the lollipop back. This simple game, the passing of the candy, felt like a secret between them—something light and carefree, in contrast to their usually burdened lives.
The crowd seemed to swell around them, a wave of people moving through the narrow streets, but to Moiraine and Siuan, it was as if they were alone. The world beyond their small bubble blurred, and all that mattered was the closeness of each other.
They stopped near the corner of a busy square, the noise of the crowd fading into the background as they stood, wrapped in each other’s arms.
Moiraine rested her head on Siuan’s shoulder, her breath soft against her neck. Siuan tightened her hold, savoring the feeling of Moiraine in her arms, the rhythm of their hearts beating in sync. It was a rare moment of stillness, of peace in a world that was always demanding more of them.
The lollipop passed between them again, shared like a secret, and then, without a word, their lips met. The kiss was slow and tender, a promise and a release all at once. The sweetness of the candy lingered between them, but it was nothing compared to the warmth of each other.
In that moment, surrounded by the noise and life of the city, it felt like they were the only two people in the world. Their kiss deepened, a soft sigh escaping Siuan as her fingers gently traced the line of Moiraine’s jaw. Moiraine’s hands rested at the small of Siuan’s back, pulling her impossibly closer.
When they finally pulled apart, their foreheads rested together, and for a long, quiet moment, they simply breathed, content in the closeness and in the knowledge that, for tonight, this was enough. The world could wait.
Moiraine smiled, that rare, private smile she saved only for Siuan, and whispered,
"I suppose I should indulge more often."
Siuan chuckled softly, brushing a strand of dark hair from Moiraine’s face.
"You should. You deserve it."
They stood like that for a while longer, wrapped in each other’s arms, the rest of the night stretching before them, filled with the promise of more moments like this—moments of love, laughter, and sweetness stolen from a wheel that never stopped turning.
