“The number you have dialled is not in service…”

With a shaky breath, Freddy lowers the phone and hangs up. He slowly sits down and puts his head down on his knees, hugging his legs with his arms. 'It happened. I'm finally back in my world...' He lets out another shaky breath. "I should be happy; coming back home was what I had wanted, and I knew it wouldn't last," Freddy quietly whispers to himself, "so then why am I crying?"
He slowly lifts his head from his knees and wipes the tears away from his eyes with his hands. He presses down on his eyes and quietly sniffles, "I knew this would happen. I was an idiot and got attached to them, knowing it wouldn't last." Freddy's voice becomes shaky and strained. He started sobbing. Trying to stop the tears with his hands and failing as they seemed to overflow. Freddy stayed seated crying to himself until he drifted off into a slumber.

When Freddy woke up, he realized he was in a white room with no furniture, no colors other than white, and no doors in sight. He suddenly jumped up and started looking around, confused and a little frightened. "Ummm.... hello?" Freddy calls out, but all he hears in return is his echo. 'How weird I remember falling asleep in my room on the floor.' His ears droop as he thinks back to that memory, shaking the thought away. He starts walking around carefully, as though the floor might open up and swallow him whole. "Hello?" he tries calling out again, awaiting to hear anything other than his echo. He sighs after a few moments of silence. "Hello?" he tries one more time and, after his echo fades away. He sighs again and starts walking. 'This must be a dream—a weird one, but a dream nonetheless.'

After walking around for what felt like forever, he slowly started getting more worried as time went on. 'I hope I wake up soon,' he thinks to himself. Suddenly, the floor started shaking, and then, as suddenly as it started shaking, it stopped. 'Okay, no need to panic; you can't die in your dreams... right?' He grows more worried until the floor starts shaking furiously and the ground starts cracking. "WHAT THE-" he yells out. 'Oh god, an in-dream earthquake, what do I do? This has never happened to me before.' He panics, trying to keep himself calm.
He looks around and starts trying to run away from the cracks. The cracks on the floor grow larger as they seem to be following him with his heart thumping so loudly in his ear, and as his breath grows faster. He starts slowing down as his stamina starts to fail, and all of a sudden a huge crack opens the floor beneath him, and he falls. 'Oh god, this is it. I'm going to die here.' His vision sarts to blur with unshed tears.
He shuts his eyes tightly, not wanting to open them, as he feels himself fall. 'Why do things like this happen to me? Everything I'm feeling feels so real. I hate this. Why me?' He starts crying until he lands in water. He starts splashing back around, trying to get up for air and calm himself.
He grabs onto a random lifeboat placed there. Coughing, he calms his breath and starts looking around. 'There's a whole ocean in here. What a weird dream for sure.'
He looks around, water moving with him as he only sees darkness everywhere he turns. He sighs, "How am I going to get out of here? I can't swim, and there's no paddle for me to steer the boat." He sighs once again. Carefully pulling himself into the boat, he mumbles, "I'll take a moment here to calm myself before I start trying to find a way out."
He lays down on the lifeboat and looks up at the pitch-black ceiling. "My pajamas are all wet now," he mutters, not liking the feeling. When suddenly the boat starts rocking in the waves slowly at first, but then the waves make the boat rock faster.
"SERIOUSLY CAN'T I GET A BREAK?" he shouts, grabbing onto the side of the boat as it rocks harder.
Suddenly he feels the lifeboat starting to lift off the water, going higher and higher. "WHAT THE-" Freddy shouts, hearing what sounds like a waterfall, but how is his lifeboat rising?
He looks off to the side and sees what appears to be a head, only being able to see the top cover with black hair. His breath catches in his throat as he is unable to comprehend that some giant is lifting him up. 'How did I barely notice the hands!?' He panics, trying to assess the situation, until suddenly the boat stops rising, the head keeps rising, and he now sees that it was a woman with long black hair that looked dry despite rising from the ocean minutes ago. Suddenly her eyes opened, and he made eye contact with big, beautiful red eyes. 'Wow, her eyes are lovely all three of them. Wait.......THREE!?' Staring back at him, he could see her smile.
"Hello Freddy, is it?" She whispers even though her voice is still loud with the echo bouncing from the ocean. "Yeah..." He mumbles, nodding his head up and down.
She giggles, "It's so nice to finally meet you." Confused Freddy replies, "Finally meet me? Do you know me from somewhere?" She looks off to the side and says, "I was the one who put you in the novel."
His eyes widen. 'Was this not a dream? Everything that happened was real. I could have actually died!?' He panics as the situation finally caught up to him. "Why?" He whispers, she sighs and responds, "I can't exactly tell you right now, but you will know with due time."
She giggles and says, "You need to go back anyways; you don't really have an option." Freddy whispers, "What do you mean I don't have an option?" She moves closer and responds, "With due time you will know, but for now you'll awaken back in the same life you have been living for the past years, and if you need me, all you have to do is rub this."
Handing him a red heart necklace with gold surrounding the sides and a golden chain, he catches it. "Wait, I still have so many questions!"
The room suddenly turns white, and as she starts slowing, lowering herself back in the water, all she replies is, "In due time, and should you ever need me, you know how to call."
The ocean slowly disappears. He looks down, still calling out for her, "Wait, wait, please don't go yet."
Suddenly his vision goes dark and his eyes shoot open. He gasps and quickly sits up, looking around. 'Oh good, it was just a dream.' He sighs in relief. He looks out his window and notices it was morning. He stretches "What a weird dream," he mumbles, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed, getting ready to get off.
He notices something shining on the floor, reaching out to pick it up. "Huh, what is..." he stops in his tracks, snatching back his hand as though he burned himself. Starting back at him was a red heart necklace, the same one he got in his supposed "dream."
He looks down at it and runs off his bed into his closet and sees his new uniforms for a school that he would be attending in a few days.
