Work Text:
they're on the balcony. it's early autumn, the night air is cool, the concrete cold beneath them. she leans her head against the cold wrought iron of the posts and balusters, turning to her with a smile. she smiles back, moving closer, the warm press of their shoulders together a welcome balm against the chill.
she snuggles closer, head a warm weight against her shoulder. the city is a little quieter than usual, the stars a little brighter, as if everything is holding its breath. they don't usually talk when they're like this, just sit in the quiet of the night.
she nudges her head gently, and points up at polaris. she lifts her head, pressing a kiss to her cheek and then pressing their cheeks together to look up at the stars.
when she sees her start to shiver, she takes her chin in her hand to press a soft kiss to her lips before getting to her feet and holding out a hand. inside, she chases her lips for another kiss as she makes tea, and she looks at her with affection so tender it melts between the presses of their lips.
they sit on the couch to drink their tea, pressed together from shoulder to ankle.
when they're done, she takes their mugs to the sink, like always, hands deftly washing and drying them before a protest can leave her lips. she wraps her arms around her instead, cheek pressed to her shoulder, and it isn't much of a reprimand. she turns her head, and she leans up to slot their lips together.
they fall asleep the same way, intertwined as always.
