Chapter Text
The clock ticked at a painfully slow pace as Peter bounced his right leg in annoyance. His government teacher had been harping on about the same thing for the past twenty minutes, and quite frankly Peter could not take it anymore. He let out an exasperated sigh as he dropped his head down into his arms which were folded on the desk. The teacher continued on and on as Peter tried his best to tune him out. I mean who wants to listen to some middle aged man yap about the three branches of government for twenty minutes anyways. Peter's attention was then caught by the audible groan the entire class had let out. Lifting his head he focused on the teacher, Mr. Dunn who was now standing by the white board.
"I will be assigning partners and I don't want to hear any complaining" Mr. Dunn announced as he wrote on the board "you all know why i'm not letting you pick your own partners anymore"
'great' Peter thought another group project was just his luck, last time hadn't gone very well he didn't know anyone in class and ended up being paired with a girl who had been absent. She showed up to class once and refused to help with anything. Mr. Dunn began going down the rows of desks assigning partners, when he got to Peter he tapped on the desk behind him.
"Y/n here will be your partner" he said with a nod.
Peter bit back a smile as he spun around to face them. Y/n had always caught his eye, he thought they were cute but had decidedly never done anything about it.
"sooo, what's this project even about?" Peter asked, raising his brows.
"uhm, well he said we have to create our own government or something. . .I dunno" y/n responded ". .he said he'd pass out a paper with the instructions on it"
Just as the word left y/n's lips Mr. Dunn had begun passing around the instructions, looking up at the clock he began speaking.
"It seems like we only have a few minutes left before the bell rings; please read over the instructions carefully, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask." He stated as he walked over and sat down at his desk.
"Oh and you will be presenting these, make sure you get it done by next Friday, I'd suggest working on it outside of class, you'll only have two class periods to work on it" he added. Peter could feel the force of everyone rolling their eyes in sync as Mr. Dunn finished speaking. This gave them a little over a week to work on it, that is if they decided to work on it outside of class.
"I've uh got a lot of tests I need to study for next week so can we meet up over the weekend or something and work on this?" Y/n questioned. Peter snapped his head back to look at them.
"yeah of course, where you wanna meet up? we can do my house this Saturday if you're free?" Peter inquired
"oh uhh, yeah that sounds good. . around what time?" they asked, eyebrows raising slightly.
"mhhh, around one i guess" Peter replied as he began to pack his bag, shoving papers into his notebook then cramming it inside his bag. With that the bell rang and Peter sped off.
"Wait, you forgot-" Y/n sighed, Peter was already out of sight. "guess i'll have to ask him tomorrow" Y/n mumbled to themselves as they walked towards the parking lot.
The next day when eighth period finally rolled around y/n scanned the locker room in search of Peter with no luck. He’s not here, great. The bell rings and everyone shuffles out of the locker room and heads to the field. As y/n stands on the field at their assigned number and the teacher begins taking roll Peter finally appears. He stands next to y/n on his own number and tries to pretend he's been there the whole time.
"Mr. Maximoff you're late. . again" Coach Scott chided, cocking his brow.
"I don't think I was" Peter smiled
"Whatever kid I'm marking you late" the coach said as he moved on. Peter rolled his eyes and sighed.
"hey peter-" Y/n said earning a 'mhh' of acknowledgement from Peter. "ya kinda forgot to give me your address yesterday"
"ohhhh yeaah i thought i was forgetting something" He exclaimed "my bad just find me in the locker room later and i'll give it to ya" he ended with a wink. Y/n felt their face flush at the gesture mumbling out an alright and turning back to face forward.
The rest of class Y/n and Peter didn't talk, although they caught Peter glancing at them a few times he never said anything. Once the PE teacher blew his whistle it was time to head back to the changing rooms. Everyone sauntered back and began opening their lockers, some foregoing changing electing to just shove their school clothes into their bags and leave. Y/n quickly changed back into their street clothes and began walking around looking for Peter. Not finding him y/n headed for the door pushing it open with an exasperated sigh only to be greeted by Peter, well Peter's face right in his. Y/n flinched backwards and Peter took a step back.
"whoops sorry bout that" He smirked digging something out of his pocket and handing it to y/n. It was a scrap of paper with both his address and phone number scribbled onto it.
"almost forgot," he chuckled. "I'll see you tomorrow then hmm?" Peter cooed a smile growing on his face.
"yeah see ya" y/n responded once again feeling their face flush. Peter sped off again this time leaving y/n flustered.
It was now Saturday, Saturday October seventh to be precise, and it was already Ten in the morning by the time y/n woke up. Giving them only three hours to shower, eat, and walk all the way to Peter's house. Usually he'd just drive but that Thursday their mom's car gave out and she hadn't gotten it back yet and had been borrowing his car for the time being. With a groan y/n exited their bed and headed for the shower.
