Chapter Text
In a quiet village nestled amidst rolling hills and lush fields, your life was a calm and steady routine. You spent your days tending to your garden, enjoying the serenity of nature, and savoring the simple joys of a peaceful existence. You enjoy your peace and quiet.
One bright and sunny morning, as you were carefully watering your flowers and humming a light-hearted tune, you heard an unexpected commotion coming from the riverbank. The sounds of splashing water and frustrated grunts broke the usual peacefulness of your village.
Your curiosity peaked as you made your way to the edge of the river and peeked through the tall reeds. To your astonishment, you saw a fairly tall, serious looking figure grappling with a fish that seemed determined to make his life as difficult as possible. It was none other than Giyuu Tomioka, the famed Water Hashira from the Demon Slayer Corps. Known for his calm demeanor and unmatched skill in combat, Giyuu now appeared to be locked in an epic battle with what could only be described as a mischievous fish.
The scene before you was both as serious as it was comical. Giyuu, usually the embodiment of grace and efficiency, was flailing about in the water, his movements a far cry from his usual precise and controlled style. The fish, with what seemed like a mind of its own, darted around in circles, occasionally leaping out of the water as if to taunt him. Giyuu’s fishing rod swung about like a poorly handled weapon, and he looked like someone trying to swat away a particularly bothersome mosquito rather than catch a fish.
Unable to hold back your laughter, you called out, “Need a hand?” Your voice was light and cheerful, a stark contrast to the chaos unfolding before you.
Giyuu looked up, his usually stern face momentarily registering surprise and a hint of embarrassment. The sight of the usually composed warrior struggling with a fish was almost too much.
“I would appreciate that,” he said, trying to maintain his serious demeanor but clearly grateful for the help.
With a grin, you waded into the cool, shallow river. The water felt refreshing against your legs as you approached Giyuu. You watched him for a moment, trying to maintain an air of seriousness despite the humorous situation. He was still trying to look like he had everything under control, but his fishing rod was doing its best impression of a windmill.
You gently took the rod from him with practiced ease, demonstrating a few fishing techniques with exaggerated motions. “Alright, let’s show this fish who’s boss,” you said with a wink. Giyuu watched you intently, his serious expression softening as he followed your guidance. You made catching the fish look effortless, and soon enough, it was clear who was really in charge.
The fish, now clearly outmatched, was soon flopping on the riverbank, and Giyuu couldn’t help but let out a relieved, rare laugh. “You really do have a knack for this,” he admitted, a rare smile breaking through his usual emotionless demeanor. “Perhaps you should consider a career change.”
You laughed. “I’d be happy to help, but I’m not sure I’d make a good demon slayer. I think I’ll stick to fishing and gardening.”
As the two of you made your way back to the shore, Giyuu gave you a nod of thanks, his usually serious demeanor replaced by a genuine look of appreciation. “Thanks for rescuing me from that fish,” he said, a small smile lingering on his lips. “I’ll definitely avoid rivers for a while.”
You waved him off with a chuckle. “Anytime. If you ever need a fishing lesson or just a break from demon-slaying, you know where to find me.”
As Giyuu walked away, the river returned to its usual peaceful state. You couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction from the unexpected and amusing encounter. Returning to your garden, you resumed your work with a smile, reflecting on the amusing morning and the unlikely camaraderie you’d shared with the stoic Water Hashira.
