Work Text:

It’s half past two in the morning when Chan finally decides he and Jisung had spent enough time in the studio for the day. Leaning back in his chair, arms stretched above his head, he feels his bones pop after sitting for so long. The younger had been asleep on the couch for the last hour, complaining that he was tired and they did enough work that day. Chan, being Chan, didn’t believe that the work they had done was complete so Jisung decided to stay with him until he was finished.

“Jisung.” Chan shook the younger gently, careful not to scare him. “It’s time to go home now.” He finished as Jisung slowly opened his eyes and started to sit up, sleep still evident in every move he made. Rubbing his eyes, Jisung looks up at the older, “What time is it?” He asks with a yawn.

“Two thirty-seven. We’ve been here all night.” Chan replies with a small smile. Jisung opens his mouth to say something when he suddenly goes wide eyed and looks at Chan. “You heard that too right?” He asks, a look of shock and confusion on his face. Chan nods at the younger and walks toward the studio door. He slowly presses his ear to the door to try to listen to figure out what they were hearing.

“It almost sounds like… a baby? It sounds so weird but I think there’s a baby out there crying.” He says, turning to Jisung with an almost unreadable expression. Chan was obviously worried. Who would leave a baby outside a studio? Let alone a studio with people they don’t know.

“Are you sure it’s a baby?” Jisung questioned, getting onto his knees on the couch to see the door better. Chan looked over at him with a look that almost said ‘why would I joke about this?’, and opened the door. Low and behold, a baby that could be no older than three months was in front of the door in a carrier.

“Holy shit.” Jisung gasps as he peers over the couch to fully see the small child. “Is it-is it yours?” He asks Chan with a horrified expression. The older male whips his head back so fast he swears it would cause whiplash.

“What the fuck Jisung. Of course it isn’t mine. Why would it be mine?” Chan defends himself eyes wide. Jisung swears Chan’s eyes would pop out of the socket if they were open any wider. Jisung shakes his head, trying to organize his thoughts better. Okay, so the kid isn’t a product of one of Chan's drunken nights out. That’s great, but Jisung knew it wasn’t his kid.

“Whose kid is it then? Do you think one of the others like, I don't know, didn’t um, use protection?” Jisung asked, his expression getting more nervous with each passing second. Chan shakes his head. That definitely was not the case. All the boys know to use condoms, hell, Chan has even had to buy them for Lee Know before he was eighteen.

“Before we get ahead of ourselves, let's look at the letter next to the kid, yeah.” Chan says, reaching down and grabbing the envelope that was addressed to…wait that can’t be right, the letter was addressed to Chan.

“I know you said it isn’t your kid but uh, the letter was clearly written to you so. Are you absolutely sure it isn’t yours?” Jisung asked again. Chan shook his head, “Jisung,” Chan started pressing his finger to the bridge of his nose, “Yes I am absolutely one thousand percent positive that this baby is not mine. I haven’t had sex in, I don’t even know how long it's been.” Chan goes back to the note, finally opening it and starting to read. “So, what does it say?” Jisung asked excitedly. Chan shushed him and continued reading.

Dear Chan,
I’m so sorry I had to do this to you. I had no other choice, I didn’t know what to do or even who I could tell. Please don’t tell Changbin, I don’t want to ruin his career. I know it was stupid of us to even do this. I know it was wrong of me to not tell him when I found out, and I know it’s stupid of me to now dump Ji-yeong on you guys. His name is Ji-yeong and he’s three months. Please take care of him for me.

Sincerely,

Grace

Chan took a deep breath when he finished and handed the letter over to Jisung so he could pick up who he now knows is Ji-yeong. In hindsight, he should’ve known it was Changbins baby. Ji-yeong has the same lip and eye shape as him. He just can’t believe Changbin could be so irresponsible.

“Wow.” Jisung says, setting the letter back down with a sigh. So many questions were racing through their minds. First of all, how were they meant to take care of a baby? Don’t get them wrong, they love kids, but they’ve never had to take care of one long term before. “Should we tell Changbin?” Jisung asked. Chan shakes his head, that wouldn’t be a smart thing to do.

“No, no he doesn’t need to know.” Chan starts, moving over to the couch to bottle feed Ji-yeong. For someone who can’t take care of a baby, Grace sure did give them everything they would need for at least the next month. “I’ll play dad for the time being, since I have the most experience with kids.” Jisung nods in understanding.

Great, now they're stuck with a kid and have no idea how it happened. Well, they know how it happened, but they don’t know HOW it happened. Changbin never goes anywhere without at least one of the others. Are they even qualified to take care of a baby, and their schedules are so hectic with it being comeback season. How are eight men meant to take care of a baby?
