Work Text:

“Just Another Day at the Hatake Estate”

Kakashi opened the door to his house with a sigh.

“I’m home. You wouldn’t believe the day I had today. I can’t wait for Naruto to become the Hokage,” he said rounding the corner and froze when rage filled green eyes met his.

“You want to hear what happened at this house today?! While you were at your ‘job’! Just look at my house,” she seethed at him. He looked around and briefly wondered how the hell a four-year-old and a two-year-old caused so much chaos. The first thing that caught his attention was all the drawings of the family and their dogs. It was on the walls, the furniture, the windows, the floors, and the ceiling…

“How in the hell did they get up there,” he asked her with a look of surprise.

“Apparently, little Sakumo is like his mother and can read. Which caused him to teach his sister Aki! If you think this is the only thing, they have done then you are sorely mistaken,” she crossed her arms…

The Rokudaime walked through his home looking at all the damage the toddlers had done while he was at work. They helped the dogs dig up Sakura’s plants, there was dirt and shredded leaves everywhere, the bathroom was soaked in water and soap where they tried to bathe the hounds, and their room looked like a bomb had gone off inside it. There were toys and blankets, even clothes scattered around it. He returned to his wife scratching the back of his head grinning in his usual way.

“It’s really not that bad. I have seen kids do worse honestly,” he tried to lighten the mood.

“That’s not all they did Kakashi,” her eyes narrowed into slits, and he paled…

His wife had taken them to the park and Sakumo was trying to show off what Kakashi had taught him. He had almost electrocuted Naruto’s and Hinata’s infant because it got out of hand. Aki rounded up a squirrel and made the thing run up Kiba’s leg which caused Akamaru to go crazy and almost mauled him. He listened to his wife go on and on about how her day went. Each tale making him feel guiltier and guiltier about saying having paperwork all day was rough.

“You know they made up for it though. Just another day at the Hatake Estate,” she said as she disappeared into the kitchen.

He curiously followed her and froze in the doorway. There his children were holding up a “Happy Birthday” sign and his wife was holding a cake for him.

“I tried to tell them that you don’t like sweets that much, but they insisted on it,” Sakura smiled at him.

“I don’t usually like sweets, but I can make an exception for them,” he smiled as he rubbed his son’s silver locks and his daughter’s half pink and half silver hair.

“I usually prefer the sweets on you my dear,” he whispered in her ear, removing his mask and giving her cheek a light kiss. Grinning at the healthy blush that appeared on his wife’s face. If anyone were to ask him when he finally had a good birthday, he would tell you everyone he has had since the day he gained a family.

The End

Notes:
