"Am I interrupting something?"
When Claudine had walked into the room, she had expected Maya, of course, but what she didn't expect was the pink haired girl who's head was currently resting in Maya's lap. The TV was on at a very low volume, and the lights were dimmed around them, presumably to help Airi sleep as she let out a soft yawn, seemingly barely conscious. Despite the situation, Maya chuckled softly as she shook her head and motioned for Claudine to sit, the ash-blonde doing so quietly if a bit awkwardly. Whenever the 99th class’ top stars had a discussion, whether it be in the dorms, the practice room, or the classroom, it was usually just the two of them, considered in a league of their own; or at least in the presence of their friends, whose presence they had grown familiar with during conversation. Now, however, Claudine just felt like she was intruding on something. Maya having a date wasn’t a new development, and it wasn’t at all unexpected to Claudine, but when the space on Maya’s lap was taken by Airi, it just changed the vibe a little.
Still, Maya seemed unbothered, happily chatting away about the newest stageplay they had watched together after Claudine had recommended it. Airi on the other hand was barely present, with the ash-blonde knowing that Airi had spent extra time last night moderating her idol group’s social media which must have worn the poor girl out. She had to admit, she did feel a bit bad for the girl, but such is the life of an idol, having to work day in and day out to maintain both your routine and your reputation. When Claudine's facial expression showed a bit of worry, Maya seemed to notice and just waved it off.
“Don't worry, Saijou-san. She’s just tired from last night.” Maya reasoned quietly, a soft chuckle coming from her person. Claudine nodded, and made a mental note to keep her conversation quieter from then on. “Anyways, what were you saying about the main actress?”
“Oh, well I was saying her face was showing confidence in her performance, but I think a few of her steps were a bit uneven, even when considering her character.” Claudine noted, surprised by Maya’s ability to just carry on where they left off. Maya put her hand to her chin as she thought back to the princess, before Claudine’s point clicked in her head.
“Indeed, it could have been her nerves getting the better of her, but there are many more factors to consider for the missteps. Perhaps she wasn’t used to moving in those shoes, or didn’t practice her routine enough.” Maya reasoned. The ash-blonde nodded, Maya was just as good at analyzing routines as she was performing them, which made these discussions all the more fun and informative.
"Oui, I suppose so.” While Claudine was preparing her next words, she noticed Maya’s hand softly stroking Airi’s fluffy pink hair, with her chest rising and falling slowly in her slumber. It made the two look like a kind old lady and her cat, talking away with a youngster who came to visit them. The sight made Claudine chuckle as the realization of the situation set it.
“Did something happen?” Maya asked, raising an eyebrow at Claudine.
“You two sure look comfy.” Claudine joked, with Maya finally noticing that she was stroking Airi’s head the whole time. However, despite being caught, she just shrugged it off, continuing to pet through her girlfriend’s head, even if the slight blush on her face was easily noticed by Claudine.
“Yes, her hair is… quite soft.” Maya admitted, although she grew a bit more nervous as she spoke, but her expression softened. Claudine was surprised by the sudden honesty from Maya, but just as quickly as it appeared, the brunette turned her eyes up to Claudine again expectantly. “Nevermind that, what were you going to say?” Maya said, trying to turn the conversation away, whether it was because she wanted to distract from what she was doing, or because she genuinely just wanted to keep talking, Claudine wasn’t certain, but she shook her head and started racking her brain for more ideas, she couldn't be outdone by Maya after all, even in review. She would totally tease Maya about this more, but maybe later.
She swore she heard a low purr coming from the idol sleeping peacefully on the top star's lap, but Claudine decided she'd leave that be too.
