The air was cool, with the lingering stillness of early fall, when summer heat changes into steadier warmth of autumn. Luo Wenzhou stirred from sleep as the first rays of morning light shone through the blinds, casting thin, golden stripes across the room. The memory of last night brought satisfied smirk to his lips as he looked at silhouette beside him.
Fei Du was still asleep, curled up in a loose ball. Half of his body was beneath the blanket, with one arm tucked under his head and long legs pulled up to his chest. His breath was steady with calm rhythm of deep sleep, seemingly unbothered by world outside the bedroom. He looked almost delicate like this, young and mellow, lines of his body softened by tranquility of morning. Luo Wenzhou smiled, reaching out to cover him more with blanket. He couldn’t stop himself from stroking long strands of hair covering youth’s face. Fei Du shifted slightly, stretching his body and turning his head, as if to lay it more into the hand petting him. His hair was tousled by sleep, making him appear truly boyish, his lips slightly parted. A second passed, then a minute – and he was curling back up, burying himself into blanket with a small, unconscious moan—a movement so cat-like that Wenzhou half-expected to hear him purring. He stifled a laugh to not wake up the other, and moved from the bed to the bedroom door. Moving quickly to the bathroom, he looked around but have not seen the true sovereign of the home – yet.
After brushing his teeth, Luo Wenzhuo went to the kitchen, the morning routine known to him by heart. First, he turn on the kettle, and prepared two mugs, then he opened the fridge and grabbed some eggs and bacon: today’s breakfast had already appeared in his mind. While scrambling eggs, he heard movement beside himself, and yes, here he was. Luo Yiguo slowly peeked into the kitchen, tail held high and eyes squinted. He looked towards empty bowl of cat food, then at Luo Wezhou, and again, to his bowl. The message was clear: „Well, you human being, instead of making some weirdly smelling bean juice, how about you refill This Respectable Ones bowl? Quickly, don’t you make me wait!” Wenzhou laughed then and like a good subject prepared bowl full of cat food, putting it on the floor before Luo Yiguo. Cat, very satisfied with the service, went on to happily eat his food, sure of his high position in the house: everyone bow to His Majesty Luo Yiguo of course!
Breakfast finished and cat being pleased, Wenzhou grabbed one of the coffee mugs and went back to bedroom. Fei Du was under blankets, still, his breathing steady – yet years of police work let Wenzhou knew immediately that he wasn’t sleeping anymore. Smirking, he decided not to call off the bluff yet, and slowly made his way to the bed. He took his time to look at Fei Du again, closed eyes and delicately fluttering lashes, pale skin and unmistakable signs or last night’s activities blooming on his throat and collarbones. Dark red petals bloomed where his lips were before, on a body so easy to mark. Wenzhou held out his hand to touch slim arm peeking from under the covers, and that was it. Fei Du blinked and slowly opened his eyes, lazy smile slowly appearing on his face. He licked his lips, eyes gleaming with mirth.
"Staring at me again?" Fei Du said teasingly, in voice slightly rough from sleep. He stretched his limbs and his smile turned into more of a smirk. „Isn’t it against the law? To stare at my vulnerable self, when I cannot say anything to you… Dear officer, is it right to treat me like an object…” he whined, making Luo Wenzhou laugh. „What can I say, you’re very pretty. Especially when you’re not talking.”
Fei Du chuckled at that, and in that moment there was meowing from the door – Luo Yiguo decided to grace those two with his presence, but seeing them near the bed, this wretched object! He let out undignified sound and turned around, to march back to the kitchen. That place surely hold much more interesting things than bedroom!
Seeing cat leaving, Wenzhou snorted and gestured to coffee mug in his hand. As if on cue, Fei Du sit straight and reached to take it from his hands. With content sigh he took a sip and stretched his legs next – yet there was no saying if he really planned to leave bed in near time. He looked at Wenzhou playfully, self-satisfied with how this morning was going so far.
“I had a dream about you,” Fei Du said after a moment, his voice soft. Wenzhou raised an eyebrow and moved close to him, his warm breath near the younger’s ears. „And should I worry of this dreams occurrences?”
Fei Du got silent at that, and bite on his lips. „No. You… no” he shook his head and closed his eyes, his smile growing bigger. „It was a dire situation. You were chasing a thief. And you were very heroic.” There was something in his voice that told Wenzhou that was not a full story, but as Fei Du wasn’t ready to say it all yet, he decided not to push too much. Smiling, he puffed out his chest and winked. „Well of course, I am always heroic” he replied teasingly, making Fei Du laugh.
“Modest as always, I see” youth teased back, moving to get out of bed. Not bothering to look at Luo Wenzhou anymore, Fei Du went to the kitchen, looking around and assessing the prepared breakfast. When the other joined, he looked at him, narrowing his eyes slightly. „Today’s breakfast look very… bland, I must say."
Wenzhou followed his gaze, looking at the plates he prepared on the counter - and froze. There, where perfectly fried bacon pieces should have lay on lettuce, just next to the eggs, only sad, torn lettuce leaves was left.Guessing immediately who was the culprit and muttering under his breath at the thief's impudence, Wenzhou set off in search. "Luo Yiguo!" he growled menacingly.
„Ah, yes. Heroically chasing the thief ” Fei Du dismissed with a smile, sipping his coffee
