Work Text:

"So, I was in Camden, and there was this goth girl with a whole bunch of crystals and stones and silver rings. I wanted to get a new pair of earrings and she kept showing me this big bowl of stone pendants... and she wouldn't shut up about them..."
Neil rambles on in that specific way which indicates someone might have been doing a couple of lines not long before.
Richard is leaning against the wall, with a beer in his hand, and he's finding it hard to focus on what Neil is telling him, for a variety of reasons.

First of all, Richard is dangerously close to being very pissed, and Neil is distractingly attractive in that kind of malnourished male model way of his. Plus, Richard is still technically a teenager (even though sometimes he feels like he's the mature one in a band where most people are nearly a decade older) and, as such, prey to the violent storms of hormones. Which means that he's way past tipsy and horny enough to make some ill-advised choices.

Neil is still rambling about crystals and goth girls in Camden, and Richard is somehow inclined to dislike this unnamed, faceless goth girl and her stall of witchy crap.
"And she didn't want to let me go unless I also got an amulet made of jet. Then she told me they are great for protection from negative energies and anxiety. And I thought about you..."
Richard is suddenly back on track and paying full attention. His head is also spinning a little, but it's not the alcohol; it's the effect of Neil's words.

Neil rummages in the pocket of his leather jacket and then he's handing Richard a little velvet pouch.
Richard opens it and there it is: a little black stone pendant, shiny and cold. It's something that Neil bought thinking about him. So, naturally, Richard wants to wear it now, always and forever. Ok, he's also feeling a bit sappy, but no one else has to know.

"She kept telling me that these are very fine and powerful amulets, and they come from Whitby, and all the goths love them..."

But Richard is not listening anymore, he's doing exactly the sort of previously mentioned ill-advised choice... because he's shutting Neil up with a kiss.
And, most importantly, Neil is responding in the best possible way, proving once again that he's fucking good at everything he does; so, of course, he's also a fantastic kisser.
"Why, Mr Oakes, who would have guessed you could be so daring..."
"Oh, shut up!"
"You shut me up! I'm sure you can think of some ways to keep my mouth busy..."
