Work Text:
The soft rustling of pages filled the cozy bedroom, where Abe Ryohei sat comfortably against the headboard, engrossed in his latest book. The room was bathed in the warm, dim glow of the bedside lamp, casting a calming atmosphere around him. His brow furrowed slightly in concentration as he turned to the next page, completely absorbed in the story.
It had been a long day for both him and Meguro. Between rehearsals, meetings, and the usual hustle of their busy lives, the exhaustion had settled in the moment they’d come home. Yet, while Abe found solace in the quiet escape of his book, Meguro had opted to wind down in a different way. He could hear the faint sound of the shower turning off in the bathroom, and a soft smile crept onto his lips.
Moments later, the door creaked open, and Meguro, with damp hair and tired eyes, padded softly into the room. His movements were slow and heavy with sleepiness. Dressed in comfortable pajamas, he looked like he was just barely holding on to consciousness.
Abe glanced up from his book, his smile widening. “Feeling better after your shower?”
Meguro mumbled something incoherent in reply, rubbing his eyes like a sleepy child. Without saying much, he trudged toward the bed and climbed in beside Abe, collapsing onto the mattress with a contented sigh.
Abe chuckled softly, his heart swelling with affection. Meguro always had that sleepy, adorable look after a long day, and it never failed to make Abe’s chest tighten. He shifted slightly, closing the small gap between them, their legs brushing as Meguro snuggled closer.
Without a word, Meguro rested his head on Abe’s shoulder, the familiar warmth of their shared presence seeping into his skin. Abe could feel Meguro's breath against his neck, a steady rhythm that slowed with each passing minute. He leaned his head against Meguro's, their closeness a quiet, comforting reminder of their bond.
For a few moments, there was only the sound of Abe’s quiet breathing and the turning of pages. Meguro's eyes fluttered open and shut, occasionally peeking at the pages of Abe’s book, though it was clear he wasn’t really reading. He hummed sleepily, the sound soft and barely audible, as he snuggled closer into Abe’s side, his hand reaching out to lightly grasp Abe’s shirt.
Abe could feel Meguro's breathing gradually slow down, becoming deeper and more relaxed. He glanced sideways at Meguro and saw that his eyes had fully closed, his face peaceful as he drifted into sleep. Abe smiled to himself, the sight filling him with a sense of contentment.
Careful not to disturb him, Abe finished the last few lines of his chapter before gently placing a bookmark between the pages and setting the book on the bedside table. He shifted slightly, feeling Meguro's weight lean more heavily against him. The poor guy must’ve been exhausted.
With all the care in the world, Abe slowly slipped out from under Meguro's head, supporting him with one hand so that he wouldn’t wake. His expression didn’t change as Abe laid him down properly on the bed, tucking the blanket over him. He curled up instinctively, a soft sigh escaping his lips.
Abe watched him for a moment, admiring the peacefulness that had settled over Meguro's features. He was always so energetic and full of life during the day, but in these quiet moments, he seemed so much more vulnerable and soft.
Turning off the bedside lamp, Abe allowed the room to be enveloped in darkness, save for the faint light from the street outside. He carefully lay down next to Meguro, pulling the covers over himself and settling in.
For a while, he just watched the gentle rise and fall of Meguro's breathing, his mind wandering. It was moments like these that reminded Abe of how grateful he was for their connection. The trust between them was unspoken but deeply felt, and it showed in how Meguro sought comfort in Abe’s presence without hesitation.
As sleep finally began to pull Abe under, he shifted closer to Meguro, his hand brushing against Meguro's arm in a silent, reassuring gesture. Leaning in, he pressed a soft kiss to Meguro's forehead, lingering there for a moment.
A soft smile tugged at Abe’s lips as he watched Meguro sleep peacefully. He knew that no matter how busy their days were, no matter how exhausting, they’d always have these quiet moments together.
With that comforting thought, Abe closed his eyes, letting the stillness of the night lull him to sleep.
