Wolf groaned as her deep slumber was abrupted by an unfamiliar noise. Sitting up, she looked around in the dark, searching for the source. When she didn't find anything of interest, she stood up.
The sound was almost vibrating, although very faintly. What in the world could make such a noise?
Walking around the temporary hideout, she figured out that the noise seemed to come from the very middle of the room. Where Kipo was sprawled out, asleep.
Wolf bent down next to her friend, ignoring her jaguar paws as she looked her over. The teenager wasn't holding anything that would make a vibrating sound, which only left Wolf even more confused.
It wasn't before she dared to touch her friend to wake her up that she figured out what it was. Kipo was the one vibrating. The sound came from everywhere around her.
She was purring.
Wolf was shocked, to say the least. She'd heard about cats purring before, and even heard it a couple of times when they were visiting the Timbercats. But this?
Kipo wasn't a cat. She was a jaguar. The two species were related, sure, but Wolf was fairly certain that Kipo wasn't supposed to be able to purr. Either way, she was, and Wolf didn't know how to get her to stop. Nudging her only made her turn her back on Wolf before returning to sleeping.
Not wanting to waste her energy on trying to wake her friend up, Wolf laid back on the ground and closed her eyes, wrapping her pelt around her slightly tighter.
Barely two weeks earlier, Wolf would have gotten annoyed and probably kick the older girl to get her to stop. Now, the vibrating sound was oddly comforting.
Wolf closed her eyes and yawned, lulled to sleep by the soft vibrations underneath her fingertips.
While the purring was odd at best, Wolf decided not to think about it for the time being. She could tell Kipo about it in the morning.
