Bianca was nervous.
Admittedly saying she was nervous was a bit of an understatement to what she was feeling. She would honestly rather be fighting Kronos at the moment than be in this situation.
Well, maybe that wasn’t exactly true, she would much rather be on this date at the moment, but at least a fight with Kronos was simple. Swinging the sword and trying not to die is just that. A date on the other hand was something that made her want to melt into the floor.
She took a deep breath and calmed herself. She couldn’t go into this rattled with nerves and she knew she shouldn’t. This was just her first date with the girl she’d been crushing on for the past year and a half or so. Simple.
Who was she kidding, she was an absolute mess. She had been for the past week since Drew asked her out. Or was it two weeks? A month? She couldn’t tell, time was a myth.
Nico snorted when she told him that. “You do realize we’re living among myths, right?”
She’d been torn between sighing at the quip or smiling at the fact her baby brother was doing better. She settled for doing both. “Shut up.”
He just smiled and bumped her shoulder. “Just go already, you’ll be fine. She’s been crazy about you for like a year now.”
She knew he was right, Drew had told her that much when she asked her out, but that didn’t make it easy to understand. Percy said it was the same with him when he and Annabeth got together. He said it was like he’d just won the lottery but it felt like a prank.
She understood that very well. Some days, she felt like the rug would be pulled from under her and she’d wake up from whatever perfect dream she had when Drew Tanaka was interested in her. Then Percy would pinch her arm and she wouldn’t wake up so she’d shove him and they’d laugh.
He told her to just be herself before immediately trying to be someone else when Annabeth showed up. Annabeth had rolled her eyes and told him he didn’t need to pull that with her. He did relax a bit after that and things worked out for them.
She figured that would mean things would work out for her, but she couldn’t help but feel nervous. Butterflies were turning her stomach into a mosh pit and she didn’t like that about as much as she was excited for today.
They were going to spend the day in Drew’s dorm room over in Brooklyn, though calling it a dorm was an understatement considering how big it was. Her dad was rich enough and while not the best, he refused to let Drew not benefit from his money apparently.
While neither she nor Drew liked the guy that much, they weren’t about to waste the opportunity to watch a movie there. She took the subway, needing to get there quickly. Ok, maybe she didn’t need to get there quickly, but she wanted to.
She also wanted to take her time getting there, hoping that by delaying the trip… she wasn’t even sure. Did she want to keep this excited feeling? Did she want to push the date further?
No, she didn’t want to. She wanted to see Drew now. It wasn’t fair that she was so far away right now.
She hummed quietly as the train took her to Drew. Yes, it was taking her to Brooklyn, but it was the same thing really. The important part was that she was getting closer to her girlfriend and she couldn’t wait.
She glared at a few people on the subway who looked like they were trying to do something dumb and they backed off pretty quickly. Annabeth told her it was a child of the Big Three, and Percy and Thalia were able to do the same.
She supposed it didn’t matter too much as long as it meant no one messed with her. Everything else was secondary at the moment.
The train came to a stop and she hopped off, rushing towards the spot Drew told her the dorm was. She’d managed to get the landlord to look the other way for a day, something about not allowing visitors without prior acceptance, probably using charmspeak or something, but that wasn’t important. What mattered was that the two of them had the day to themselves alone.
Maybe the school administration had a point that they shouldn’t be but that wasn’t her problem.
She didn’t run into any monsters on her way to the room, which was good, but also a bit confusing. Normally she dealt with at least three monster attacks per day, and yet today, there weren’t any. She decided to deal with that later.
Bianca looked at the spot and her eyes bugged out. The last time she’d seen a place like this was when she’d gone over to see Rachel, which she supposed made sense.
Drew and Rachel had bonded over the whole rich shit dad thing, so it made sense they both lived in a similar spot.
She shook her head and went into the building- the very fancy building- and went up to the top floor where Drew apparently had the whole floor to herself. She rang the doorbell and waited, standing in the small hallway outside the elevator door.
After a minute or so, the door opened, and Bianca barely had a moment to blink before she was practically tackled by a blur of black. “Bia!”
“Drew!” She pulled her arms out of Drew’s grip to throw them around her girlfriend. They hadn’t seen each other in about a week so to say they missed each other would be an understatement.
Drew kissed Bianca’s cheek, an act that made her feel warm as she flushed slightly. Drew had always been affectionate with Bianca and that didn’t stop when they got together, but she wasn’t exactly used to it yet. Not with how it changed.
Or, well, not changed exactly, but it felt different. Bianca didn’t know, she just knew she liked it when Drew kissed her.
Speaking of Drew, she pulled back and smiled widely, making Bianca’s heart skip a beat. “Come on in! We’ve got the whole place to ourselves and the whole day. We’ve got a lot to cover.”
Bianca let herself get dragged in by an excited Drew, butterflies in her stomach at the fact that she was still holding Bianca’s hand.
This would be fine. This would be a normal date with her girlfriend and everything would be fine.
Everything was not fine.
For one, Drew started leaning against Bianca halfway through the movie, which made Bianca’s heart race against time itself trying to beat it. Then, Drew wrapped her arms around Bianca’s waist, making her blood rush even faster than her heart, which didn’t make any sense.
And then, she moved her mouth to Bianca’s neck, which really should have been illegal.
Drew kissed Bianca’s shoulder gently and she had to bite back a squeal at that. She was normally more composed than this, but she was turning into jelly at Drew’s touch.
“Everything alright, baby?” Drew whispered into Bianca’s ear and the room felt like it got a few degrees warmer.
Thing was, Drew didn’t sound concerned. She sounded amused. She knew exactly what she was doing and she was enjoying it.
Bianca turned to glare at her smirking girlfriend (she still couldn’t believe she could call her that sometimes) and huffed. “You’re not funny.”
Drew chuckled lowly and brought her hands to Bianca’s neck. “Oh, darling, I think I’m hilarious.”
She didn’t give Bianca a chance to respond before she kissed her, and Bianca’s brain shut down. All she could focus on was Drew’s arms around her, her lips on hers, and the fact that this was Elysium.
She wasn’t sure how long they were kissing, but by the time she pulled back, she found that she was in Drew’s lap. She wasn’t sure when that happened, but she wasn’t about to complain.
“Having fun, Bia?” Drew sounded a bit more genuine there, so Bianca relaxed.
She nodded, leaning her forehead against Drew’s. “Yeah, yeah I am.”
Drew kissed her quickly and smiled. “Good. Thanks for coming over.”
“Thanks for having me,” she meant that in more ways than just on the date.
She was so happy that Drew wanted to be with her, so much so it hurt sometimes. She asked Percy once what it was like being in a relationship given he’d been with Annabeth for about a year now, maybe a little bit more.
He’d said there were days he could barely believe she wanted to be with him, and there were days it felt like it was perfect. He told her how it was about a give and take, how they had to make sure to talk or things would get ugly.
She hadn’t pushed but she had a feeling it was connected to all the fights he and Annabeth had over the past year. Either way, he said it would be smart to communicate.
And so, she told Drew what was on her mind. “It’s crazy to me sometimes. That someone as perfect as you would want to be with me.”
Drew nuzzled Bianca’s nose with her own and brought her hands to her cheeks. “You’re selling yourself too short, hon. You’re strong, brave, pretty, smart. Anyone would be lucky to be with you.”
“You think so?” She asked shyly.
“I know so,” Drew pulled her in for a deep kiss after that, tangling her fingers in Bianca’s hair. “You’re just as perfect as you think I am, baby, and I’m not going to hear any comment saying otherwise.”
Bianca giggled slightly. “Well, in that case, I guess I should just believe it. Better not get on your bad side.”
“Good girl,” Drew said teasingly, making Bianca flush slightly. Her gaze softened after that and Bianca melted into a puddle. “You could never get on my bad side.”
“Oh yeah?”
“I can’t stay mad at you even if I tried.”
Bianca figured that was enough talking and she kissed Drew again, the movie long forgotten. They stayed like that for a long time before splitting up, and moving over to the kitchen to eat something.
And as they had their lunch together, Drew’s legs in Bianca’s lap, Bianca had a feeling that just maybe, she could get used to this.
