The whine of static noise echoes too loud
Beneath the lights flicker old sparks in wires
Tangled and chewed by bright yellow creatures.
An eye, staring, reflects empty hallways
Left to wander, metal rusting except
For steel watchers that glide along currents
Unseen.
Two Magnemite adrift in seas without
Anchor or crew, push-pull unyielding till
A third catches their gaze, admiring from
Afar then near. A Magneton complete,
They pull on sky and earth, ignite the air
With magnetic bonds that stretch but never
Break.
This Magneton, with its three hearts as one
Will never reach over to find a place
That should be taken by another soul.
Metallic shell and electric core are
Machine life, with machine hunger for the
Cosmic flames that bind the sky like so
Many ribbons of light, to be sated
Only by still firing circuits that we
Abandoned.
