Chapter 1: MOONY

Notes:

This is my very first fanfic and I am a sad college student so updates will likely be irregular. I promise I haven't abandoned this fic.
Also please leave comments so that I have the dopamine required to work on this more often. I would love to know what you all think!

Chapter Text

“Moony,” a voice yelled down the bustling hall, startling the unfortunate first years trying to make it to their first transfiguration lesson.

Anyone attending Hogwarts for more than a couple of weeks, unlike the new first years, was well acquainted with this voice and its constant need to find Moony, also known as Remus Lupin. The voice could be heard calling for the boy at any hour. No really, any hour. On this occasion the hour was at least decent as the students of Hogwarts attempted to make their ways to classes of all sorts.

“Moooony,” the voice grew in volume as its owner's combat boots could be heard hitting the floor as he chased down Moony. Despite his volume and rapid movements not a soul turned their head at the scene.

“MOONY,” now this shout, much more a shriek, reached a new pitch welcoming curses from passing students. Or well more likely passed students as the boy continued running down the hall.

“Mr. Black. What is the meaning of this?” the glorious figure of one Professor McGonagall exclaimed at the sight of Mr. Black running past her classroom.

“Sorry Minny, I would love to chat but I’ve got more important things. See you in detention,” Mr. Black waved hastily as he continued on his pursuit, leaving the Professor to rangle the group of startled first years while hiding the grin forming on her face.

“Moony!” this final shout was met with a crash as the boy finally collided with his target. He quite literally collided as two boys could now be seen in a pile on the floor. It was hard to tell which limbs belonged to which boy.

“Sirius get off me,” Remus grunted. Sirius made no such attempt.

“You left without me,” Sirius shrieked.

“Yes because some of us actually value making it to class on time,” Remus let out as he pushed Sirius off of him in one swift movement. Being a werewolf really came in handy when needing to get Sirius Black off of him, which he had to do more often then one would expect.

“You're no fun Moony,” Sirius whined, sitting up and pouting as Remus stood and attempted to fix his robes. “Prongs would never leave without me,” Sirius crossed his arms accusingly, “HE loves to tussle with me in the corridors.” Sirius looked much more smug at this statement then he should.

“Then you should have stayed with him,” Remus retorted looking down upon Sirius who still remained on the floor.

“Mooooooony. Why are you avoiding me?” Sirius pouted, resembling a toddler whose parents had denied him candy before dinner.

Despite Sirius’ childish behavior, he was right in that Remus had been avoiding him. Remus had been avoiding Sirius since the start of term. All of Hogwarts knew at this point as pileups from Sirius’ attempts to find Remus had already reached nine and it was only the second week of the term.

The reason Remus was avoiding Sirius was, strangely enough, because he didn’t want to avoid Sirius. Remus spent all of summer thinking, more like daydreaming, about spending time with Sirius. The shorter boy never seemed to leave Remus’ mind to the point where Remus was forced to acknowledge the feelings that had been growing since Sirius’s short stint as a beater on the quidditch team in fifth year. The truth was that Remus Lupin was madly in love with Sirius Black and now he couldn’t look the other boy in the eye without getting at least a little bit lost in those gorgeous stormy gray eyes. Even at this moment in time Remus was lost in thought over those eyes as they stared up at him awaiting an answer that he probably should have given by now.

“Sirius,” a voice called from behind the two. With it appeared a tall boy with a mop of black hair and glasses ready to fall from his face and a smaller mousey looking boy who followed close behind. “I see you have found our Moony, looking great by the way Moons,” the mop haired boy said as he threw an arm around Remus’ shoulders. “Now boys let's head down to the dungeons before Minny figures out who set off the dungbombs in the Great Hall.”

The four marauders quickly fell into step with one another leaving the previous conversation between the two boys long behind them. The rat faced boy, Peter, added this with his extravagant retelling of his and James’ dungbomb extravaganza in the Great Hall.
